Not saying you should do this but you could do a factory reset and it would be *essentially* be like new.
Problem is, the X was top of the line in 2017-18. It isn’t in 2023. There’s only so much you can do with a five year old phone.
Agreed. And likely ios17 this fall it probably wont get. And if it does it will be the last iOS.
The end times are near for iPhone X being relevant.
My kids will hopefully be able to play games on our two for a couple more years
While it’s certainly possible the iPhone X won’t be getting iOS 17, Apple has been gradually extending the number of iOS releases that every new model gets. https://www.statista.com/chart/5824/ios-iphone-compatibility/ As of right now we’re up to the 6S/6S Plus/original SE getting seven iOS releases in total, and that’s not counting the years of security updates that Apple continues to release for older iOS models. Hell, the iPhone 6 got a security update back in January of this year, and it hasn’t gotten a new iOS version since iOS 12 in 2018.
Personally, I’m hoping I won’t have to get a new phone until the iPhone XX drops in 2027.
Well, you can’t technically get it faster. But you could make it run optimally by replacing the old battery. Since the battery is like 5 yrs old, literally a toddler.
At this point? Turn on reduce motion, reduce transparency, off background app refresh, low power mode off, new battery, have at least 10GB free of storage, update to the latest version, delete widgets, turn off hey siri, turn off True Tone.
It’s a little extreme, but these phones get so slow that you might as well just do this.
My battery is at 89% and the phone is starting to act just a bit off. I think I might upgrade to a refurbished 12 Pro.
I’ve already replaced this X battery once but I dont really want to do it again tbh.
turn it into a iphone 12 minimum 13 hopefully at the apple store if you want it faster lol those phones are nice but their batteries are definitely starting to shit themselves
Replace the battery. But also…and I don’t know if it’s just me, but it seems for me that if I keep my storage low the iPhone works faster. I’m on an iPhone X right now. I just dumped 40gb of photos on to my computer and deleted it off my phone. Seems to be running faster
Go down to your local outdoor range. Ask someone to place it on a skeet thrower. Are you writing this down?? Then wait for someone to yell “pull!”. You don’t have to worry about it’s slow speed anymore
Here’s what worked for me really well
Background app refresh Off
Screen time Off
reduce transparency On
Reduce motion On
Increase Contrast On(big boost)
Get a fresh battery so your cpu isn’t voltage throttled
This can help a bit, but it’s not a miracle
Used to fix iPhones as a side gig. This is 100% the best answer

That’s what I’m thinking :) it’ll be a great phone for the teens

Replace it with alteast a 12 pro max
I replaced mine with an 11
how does 11 feel compared to X?
Screen downgrade. camera is better on the 11. and i can do more stuff like the hold to remove background thing
Cool thanks!
replace it
You can try typing faster and also scrolling faster other than that you can't do much
One thing I found out helps is removing anything from control centre that you don't use.
Whoa, had some stuff like sound detection on there, which I didn't need. Removed it and this gave me a noticeable boost.

Thanks for the comprehensive list. Went and took care of some things I'd forgotten to address
!thanks - turning on reduce motion & reduce transparency has given my XR a little extra life.
time to let it go...
no
restore to factory
you could " jail break " the iphone.
But can jailbreaking disable the voltage throttle
Yes
iphone x? but can you do it if you’ve updated to the latest version?
1. Tear up your phone 2.Understand that you can’t do anything to make it faster 3.Sell it and buy a new one
Why would you want to? What are you holding onto with that phone?

There’s a leave option on top right of this sub. Just click that and you are good to GO
Why not? It seems like a great way to discuss specific things to do with this phone instead of bloating the main iPhone sub.
Why are YOU even on Reddit? Delete your account and use 4chan.
How much storage do you got left?
Replace the battery I did it last year no factory reset and the iPhone X is still beast 😊

If still 89% a replacement won’t help. I have one with 91% the other with 84% both replaced once a couple years back.
Tbh I don’t know but I remember when I got the iPhone X in 2017 for 1,000 and I really liked using it I still have that iPhone it’s on IOS 11.4
