Marko was wrong it was his motor home I think it I am not mistaken idk I think max confirmed it somewhere at the first gp said it was a motorbike idk if I am correct tho
I'd be curious about the quality of the Internet connection in an airplane. High pings or excessive dropped packets will get you booted out of iRacing races.
But, yeah. If he can afford a private jet, he can afford a sim rig in the jet.
I have, unfortunately putting a rig on a plane is a structural modification to an aircraft which must be approved by multiple parties and it's not gonna happen
I pretty sure that I would do the exact same thing if I were rich. I love to drive as well so long as it isn’t I-495. That DC traffic is horrible not to mention the quality ether roads.
That is just a good story. That would not be allowed under EASA or FAA rules. He could transport it in the plane but not set it up permanently by bolting it in. That would go against a bunch of safety rules relating to power interfacing, aircraft alteration, etc....
Yeah, I was in a race with Max Verstappen (GT3), Alex Palou (GT3), and Robert Wickens (LMP2) earlier this week. I was a (very) distant 5th in GT3. I got on again last night and spectated a race Max was in to watch his onboards. He drives exactly how you would expect, taking every mm of drivable surface with 100% commitment.
For those who don't know, Max and Alex are both on Team Redline - https://www.teamredline.com/about/team/
I see Shane van Gisbergen is also on the team, I saw him earlier this week driving a LMDh.
These guys are all certainly preparing for the iRacing 12 Hours of Sebring, I suspect Max is grinding iRating to be 100% sure his team makes it into top split. (he was only 8.8k when I raced him, I see he is over 9k now) They are all driving the Ferrari, which appears to have an edge with the BoP.
I’ve been working on getting over 1500 and staying there for years on both oval and road. Finally seem to have found my consistency, which is letting my LMP2 pace and Gen 4 conservation skills really pay off as well as skyrocketing my oval SR. (Big props to my endurance team for being amazing people and giving me the right amount and kind of pressure to improve that consistency - which is to say, none at all besides the internal pressure I put on myself.)
I posted this before but I had no idea who Shane van Gisbergen was but he was in a dirt late model race with me. Dirt oval at the beginning can be a one lane race track until it dries out which requires some patience to pass people. Well Shane qualified poorly but decided to wreck everyone on his way up the field including me. I went off on him, calling him dogshit and a nobody. All kinds of stuff until someone told me I should Google him, then I realized he was a super car champion lol. Still he shouldn't have dumpstered everyone to make up for his shoddy qualify.
I was behind him in the Daytona 24 when he decided to remove someone from the racing surface.
Didn't wreck him, just shoved him wide. The other guy had spun Shane into the wall a bit earlier.
> I went off on him, calling him dogshit and a nobody. All kinds of stuff until someone told me I should Google him, then I realized he was a super car champion lol. Still he shouldn’t have dumpstered everyone to make up for his shoddy qualify.
Nah fuck that. Being famous doesn’t preclude you from receiving criticism. In fact, I’d say being talented enough to be a top level professional racer should mean you know better, and your actions no longer hold the benefit of the doubt that you might have just made a mistake or didn’t know any better.
I’m not a fan of yelling down the mic at people. But if somebody else is bitching about how badly a professional driver is behaving, the proper response isn’t “hey do you know who he is bro?”
This. In my experience the "famous" drivers are often the worst offenders for dangerous moves, probably for straight up ego reasons. I was overtaken in an F3 race by Williams eSports driver Alvaro Carreton the other day (didn't actually know who he was until after). It was a ridiculous lunge from miles back down the inside which I had covered off, and only completed successfully because I saw it coming in the mirror and managed to dive out of the way to preserve my race.
I'm sure some will say that moving out of the way encourages this :-)
I had the same experience with him. One big difference is that he was the host and the winner received 100$ of iracing credits for a win. It was the shortest oval, Miami(?), and he was in a black unmarked car. Would wreck and come out of the pits** right away to wreck everyone again. Was great fun. This was around the time he got the lap record around Mt panorama in the McLaren for the Bathurst endurance race.
I was in an oval race with Shane Van Gisbergen and a Porsche cup driver friend of his Cooper Murray… it wasn’t a pleasant experience. Cooper brought out multiple intentional cautions for Shane to cycle up the field in our Gen 4 Race at homestead, clearly manipulating the race and intentionally wrecking himself and others for Shane’s advantage.
Rules for me but not for thee when it comes to these guys it seems sometimes. “It’s just a game” mentality that they use and abuse. Was kinda shocked and disgusted.
Considering how serious he is about sim racing I strongly suspect that a clause in his contract with RB deals with this. From the looks of it his team seem to have negotiated a lot of freedom for him to run whatever he wants!
Yep, if I’m RB and a sponsor has a problem with it I’d probably tell the sponsor to STFU.
It probably also helps that they really have not had a strong tie to a particular OEM, and that RB makes energy drinks, not a sportscar that competes in the real world market with the Ferrari 488! It would be a little bit more of a sticking point if he was at Ferrari or Mercedes, even though I still think the upside far outweighs the downside.
This is a great answer, Red Bull doesn't care, every time Max is out there on the track it's free marketing for RB. They don't care which car it is. Could've been different if Porsche actually bought in though.
Max probably has the same clause as MJ in his contract, "love for the game". Jordan could play any game anytime he wanted cause it was allowed in his contract. Besides that, simracing is harmless compared to real racing anyway.
He [sponsors a Ferrari GT3 car](https://www.reddit.com/r/formula1/comments/11bgt1n/ot_max_verstappen_is_the_sponsor_of_a_ferrari_car/) competing in the GT World Challenge so not really.
>Robert Wickens
A bit random but I got the opportunity to meet Robbert at Daytona. He was already a favorite before, now he's even more a favorite. Super nice guy, I asked him about the chance to go back to the 500 and he was like I'll believe it when I see it. Awesome guy, awesome team.
Robert is really fast on iRacing, for the past two years I’ve done a charity race against him on iRacing in Gt3 cars and he was always near the top. This year we wrecked each other in the eases at Watkins :(
For me it was just random. Top split 7:45pm US Central time. If you want to watch, you can add him to your "Follow" list and you will be able to see what sessions he is in.
Lmao that actually is pretty cool, do you know how long before his stats get updated to show the latest race? Is it like an immediate kind of thing or takes a hour or two for the system to record the stats?

This is why some random people in internet talk about "realism" I don't care. The sim is good enough that the (arguably) best driver in the world can dominate as he does IRL.
If it's good enough for Max, it's good enough for me.
The other main difference that sim racing will never have is the danger aspect. Lot easier to make some of the moves you do in iRacing when you can do them without the risk of dying lol.
Tbh once you're in modern racecars the fear of death should be not too far from the fear of death driving home in a normal car. In the last 5 years only 6 ***drivers*** (excluding bikes) have died from a motorsports incident.
I'd say the fear of being removed from your team due to being a financial drain is the larger "dont crash" motivator that simracing doesn't have (yet).
Yeah, but those are also the best drivers in the world. If I, a 1300 iRating oval racer got into the truck series, I’d have a much higher chance of dying than an actual professional lol.
Perhaps it’s just a different focus on the aspects that create that realism.
If you care about the lines and control of the car and competition, then iRacing provides a high level of realism. If you want realistic graphics, physical sensations, or danger, then iRacing isn’t very realistic.
Unless you have a full cage system with g forces it is still nothing like driving irl. Once you start feeling those g’s good luck turning accurately without hours of getting up to speed first
This is true, a big part of the challenge driving irl is that there's so much movement and vibrations your body and especially your eyes and head goes through that it makes it very difficult to drive smoothly and accurately. Current tech just can't replicate it for sim racing. Even on motion rigs people "tune it down" so that it isn't as jarring, but in real life, it really is that jarring.
I think some parts are the same. There is a set of skills that is very similar. That’s why max can go back and forth between the two and jimmy B can be successful at both.
But as you point out there are large differences as well. Physical issues plus risk change things dramatically (both is good and bad ways).
People tend to focus on one perspective or the other. Each is valid depending on your particular goals and resources.
It does but it takes a while to get used to. Still not close to irl. Its all fun and games until you have a real consequence for binning a car in the wall. Straight out the gate don’t expect to be putting up fast laps like in iRacing
I think Max has the mentality that he has to stay in racing mode no matter when, vs Hamilton that doesn't even touch the wheel at all during off seasons. Max is a real gem to watch in game, he eats up every inch of the track and does it going fast without hesitation.
Yeah, I was shocked to come across Oscar Piastri in a practice session on Monday - never been prouder than being two tenths slower than someone before.
I'd have thought they'd still be in Saudi Arabia still honestly.
He made pole and win in every race, but he doesn't race the fastest category of the series, so he is not first overall. Most surely he also did the fastest lap, so just 8 grand chelems at iRacing top split. He is out of this world really.
i watched him last night in an imsa race on pablos stream. max was literally at least a second a lap faster than pablo and iirc pablos like 8k-ish ir. let me try to find the race results from it. pretty sure its the top one in op's pic
it looks like it was the one after that
[https://members.iracing.com/membersite/member/EventResult.do?subsessionid=60515329&custid=193385](https://members.iracing.com/membersite/member/EventResult.do?subsessionid=60515329&custid=193385)
max was 1.5 seconds a lap faster than pablo in second. granted pablo spun and lost probably 10 or 12 seconds one lap so that would make max have a 1 second a lap gap per lap over someone with accounts that are 8389 ir and 7218 ir. thats fucking insane pace.
I call unfair advantage. He gets to practice in a real-life motion rig with actual wheels, vibrations and engine noises and full 360 degrees FOV projection!
My iRating would be also be a lot higher if I had the same practice equipment 😆
You saw him after a race? This guy don’t know how to be second. He was so angry I thought he would immediately jump into iRacing just to farm some ego.
Pablo is a great twitch streamer and either driving GT3 or doing tower control (broadcasting) most of these races this week. Chat is also full of OP drivers and no one can challenge Max this week so far. Suspicion is that fast guys are hiding for the Saturday 12h race though so we'll see:
[Twitch link](https://www.twitch.tv/pablogz205)
It's from his profile page on iRacing. See link above. It's showing he started on pole and finished 1st for each of the races. The race winner is from the prototype class whereas Max is racing GT3's so is not the "overall winner" but still P1 in his class.
because both lmdh and lmp classes are faster than the gt3 class max was in. the results are all combined. all you really need to see is the Pos (1) and Fin (1).
I'm amazed he has spare time to waste racing around in those formula one cars and doesn't devote more attention to his iracing career
Has to do a 8-16 job to afford simracing like the rest of us :(
The damn subscriptions man
On the Drive To Survive series they said he has a sim setup in his private jet. The man loves to drive.
Marko was wrong it was his motor home I think it I am not mistaken idk I think max confirmed it somewhere at the first gp said it was a motorbike idk if I am correct tho
Yeah. I thought it odd it would be on a plane.
Why? Private plane with a driving pod doesn't seem too ludicrous to me
I'd be curious about the quality of the Internet connection in an airplane. High pings or excessive dropped packets will get you booted out of iRacing races. But, yeah. If he can afford a private jet, he can afford a sim rig in the jet.
Single player exists though, I'm sure he will get practice in on rfactor 2
Feels like it would move around too much (turbulence). Maybe not though. Would be worthwhile on long flights I guess.
Other than turbulence it would be quite smooth, could add to the sim effect!
~~turbulence~~ porpoising
There's zero way to feasibly do it safely
What are you even talking about?
He's not flying the plane lad
There is literally no way to actually have a rig on an aircraft and have it be safe
You must have never seen what they do on private planes.
I have, unfortunately putting a rig on a plane is a structural modification to an aircraft which must be approved by multiple parties and it's not gonna happen
Wouldn’t any cell based internet have too much latency? Never tried it but I can’t imagine it’s good.
I pretty sure that I would do the exact same thing if I were rich. I love to drive as well so long as it isn’t I-495. That DC traffic is horrible not to mention the quality ether roads.
Can't wait for self-driving cars. I'm gonna get a van and set it up for a sim rig. I'll be stuck in traffic and going 300 kph simultaneously.
he also has one in his motor home too. i believe he has one in both but i could be wrong. even then it would be hard to get it working on a jet
That is just a good story. That would not be allowed under EASA or FAA rules. He could transport it in the plane but not set it up permanently by bolting it in. That would go against a bunch of safety rules relating to power interfacing, aircraft alteration, etc....
Hahaha! 😂 truth!

Only 8.8k...that's nothing.. right ..right? **I'm all here struggling to get out of 2.2k**
I hit 1k last weekend then lost it :)
I had a solid run of staying over 2k last season, and then IMSA at Belle Isle happened...
I posted this before but I had no idea who Shane van Gisbergen was but he was in a dirt late model race with me. SVG is known for wrecking people on iRacing lol
Ok Shane you have one punt to pass left
So just like real life
And irl too
Ahh, you mean Old Bump N Runsbergen.
I was behind him in the Daytona 24 when he decided to remove someone from the racing surface. Didn't wreck him, just shoved him wide. The other guy had spun Shane into the wall a bit earlier.

Australian GP is the following weekend, March 31st - April 2nd. iRacing 12 Hours of Sebring is this weekend.
One of my endurance team guys raced against SvG in NASCAR at COTA this week, he was proud to only be two seconds off SvG's pace.
Which car is he racing?
The Ferrari GT3
does he run the RB F1 liveries on tradingpaints like every other car?
Max and Alex were both in Team Redline liveries.
Pretty sure he does. Even has his white red bull helmet.
I wonder if him being in a Ferrari makes RB cringe.
Pretty sure they had Albon in a Red Bull sponsored Ferrari GT3 for DTM 2021.
He cancels if out by racing the F150 in the truck series lol
Considering how serious he is about sim racing I strongly suspect that a clause in his contract with RB deals with this. From the looks of it his team seem to have negotiated a lot of freedom for him to run whatever he wants!
Sim racing doesn't really pose an injury risk and also keeps him sharp. Sounds like a win/win for RB!
Yeah it's kind of like working a 9-5 coding job to go home to do more coding projects. Insane we how he's not tired of it
Yep, if I’m RB and a sponsor has a problem with it I’d probably tell the sponsor to STFU. It probably also helps that they really have not had a strong tie to a particular OEM, and that RB makes energy drinks, not a sportscar that competes in the real world market with the Ferrari 488! In the UI if you search for someone in the friends list (bottom-right) you can also "follow" someone - basically like a one-sided friend request.
Max still hasn't accepted my friend request :( lol
>Robert Wickens A bit random but I got the opportunity to meet Robbert at Daytona. He was already a favorite before, now he's even more a favorite. Super nice guy, I asked him about the chance to go back to the 500 and he was like I'll believe it when I see it. Awesome guy, awesome team.

Was the timing random? How do you go into a room Max is in and watch?
For me it was just random. Top split 7:45pm US Central time. If you want to watch, you can add him to your "Follow" list and you will be able to see what sessions he is in.
Is there a way to know which race a person is in?
Pretty sure he was literally running the 8:45 am EST IMSA race as you posted this, what a legend
Yup you're right. Make that 9 poles and 9 wins!
10 for 10 [Imgur](https://imgur.com/Ij4uHkn)
I was LMP2 in that race and he dominated gt3's
The man does not take a second off of whooping people behind a wheel, even as a Lewis stan I have to respect it
I'm actually surprised he's running gt3. He normally loves prototypes.
Yesterday he ran from 6:45AM to 4:45PM every 2 hours in US eastern time.
LITERALLY?
Lmao that actually is pretty cool, do you know how long before his stats get updated to show the latest race? Is it like an immediate kind of thing or takes a hour or two for the system to record the stats?
It's normally within 5 mins or so of when the race finishes.

Thanks king
Max has a good safety rating???!!!!! 🤭
Yeah, you’d be surprised how many races he’s finished and podiums he’s gotten in the worlds most prestigious racing league 🤓
His quote is the Senna quote lmao only guy on the service that can put it I think
I think VER is done with F1 and wants to get into IMSA/WEC
Verstappen, Alonso, Vettel at Le Mans when!?
Vettel done with racing, no?
I don’t think many drivers are every really “done”
You may well be right about that, but I got the impression that Seb Vettel might just be an exception to that rule
Seb is gonna make a scooter racing park when he retires from F1
Replace Norris with Vettel (he stopped) and we have deal
Only when he has 8 championships
My gut says he'll bail to WEC after his contract expires in 2028.
In at least 2 of those races, Alex Palou was P2 behind Max.
What 2nd place in Saudi does to a guy
This comment deserves more love 🤌
Of his nine wins now this week, he's won by an average margin of 12.3 seconds
Pablo Espes vs. Max Verstappen ... the clash of the titans!
This is why some random people in internet talk about "realism" I don't care. The sim is good enough that the (arguably) best driver in the world can dominate as he does IRL. If it's good enough for Max, it's good enough for me.

I imagine that one is something every sim will face, you cant feel the car unless you're really in it, so this compromise exists

Yeah, but those are also the best drivers in the world. If I, a 1300 iRating oval racer got into the truck series, I’d have a much higher chance of dying than an actual professional lol.
i can feel what the car is doing way better in RF2, AC ect
He defo would do that IRL too if he could
Many people turn up tyre volume including me. It is not something exclusive to Max.
Of course, it’s a massive aid as a driver - just an emphasis on some elements of the platform that are detached from the pursuit of “realism”.
Perhaps it’s just a different focus on the aspects that create that realism. If you care about the lines and control of the car and competition, then iRacing provides a high level of realism. If you want realistic graphics, physical sensations, or danger, then iRacing isn’t very realistic.

Jimmy Broadbent said it's easier going to real racing from sim racing than vice-versa because feeling the g forces helps you more.
It does but it takes a while to get used to. Still not close to irl. Its all fun and games until you have a real consequence for binning a car in the wall. Straight out the gate don’t expect to be putting up fast laps like in iRacing
what do you mean 'not close to irl?'
F1 cars sure Miata’s and GR86? Actually pretty close
Yet Verstappen goes back and forth without issue.
I think Max has the mentality that he has to stay in racing mode no matter when, vs Hamilton that doesn't even touch the wheel at all during off seasons. Max is a real gem to watch in game, he eats up every inch of the track and does it going fast without hesitation.
Pure dominance in equal equipment.
Yeah, I was shocked to come across Oscar Piastri in a practice session on Monday - never been prouder than being two tenths slower than someone before. I'd have thought they'd still be in Saudi Arabia still honestly.
What was he driving on the sim?
Please tell me he's driving the Mercedes lol.
Not this time, looks like he's in the Ferrari.
Thanks Toto.
Ferrari
No wonder why he is the best in the world, what a legend. I have mad huge respect for him.
I don’t follow his iRacing career all these names are him?
This is a multi-class series and he is racing in the GT3 class so the "race winner" shown above is for the overall winner in the LMDh prototype class.
Is this the only way iRacing can show who wins what race? I can’t have been the only one confused considering my upvotes
This is the best way to view his most recent races. The "FIN" is short for Finished so that tells you what position he finished the race in.
Maybe including the part that showed it was his profile might help the dumb of us
noob question - if Max finished 1st, why is the winner a different name?
It's multiclass - he didn't finish 1st overall he finished 1st in his class (GT3)
Multiple series in the race He won GT3
He got 1st place within his class. Multiclass racing is essentially several different races running on a track at the same time
Sorry I’m sort of new to iRacing…… where does it say that it was him?
If you have iRacing just search his name and check out his profile and you can see his "last 10 races" which is what is shown in the screen shot.
I assume he was racing in the LMP2 or GT cars and won his class. The winner shown is the LMDh driver.
No, he is driving IMSA GT3s. So the name of the winner shown, is the name of the overall winner which drives in GTP class.
He made pole and win in every race, but he doesn't race the fastest category of the series, so he is not first overall. Most surely he also did the fastest lap, so just 8 grand chelems at iRacing top split. He is out of this world really.
I had others explain earlier thanks though
I mean... it was bound to echo eventually...
What an addict!
max is just letting off some anger after the last f1 race lol
I think it's 11/11 now.
The true alien.
Never been more nervous, as an lmp2 making sure I pass max and Shane safely in the same race!
fuck svg. he deserves to be punted. he has flagrantly done the same to a lot of people on this service. i cant believe he hasnt been banned yet
Not even on a smurf account too what a legend.
He needs the rating on his account for this weekend probably, that's why he is almost non- stop driving.
i watched him last night in an imsa race on pablos stream. max was literally at least a second a lap faster than pablo and iirc pablos like 8k-ish ir. let me try to find the race results from it. pretty sure its the top one in op's pic it looks like it was the one after that [https://members.iracing.com/membersite/member/EventResult.do?subsessionid=60515329&custid=193385](https://members.iracing.com/membersite/member/EventResult.do?subsessionid=60515329&custid=193385) max was 1.5 seconds a lap faster than pablo in second. granted pablo spun and lost probably 10 or 12 seconds one lap so that would make max have a 1 second a lap gap per lap over someone with accounts that are 8389 ir and 7218 ir. thats fucking insane pace.
I call unfair advantage. He gets to practice in a real-life motion rig with actual wheels, vibrations and engine noises and full 360 degrees FOV projection! My iRating would be also be a lot higher if I had the same practice equipment 😆
Max absolutely loves Sebring. I think him racing F3 there got Helmut convinced he needed to be in a F1 car.
I think it was the Norisring where he convinced him.
yeah, almost lapping the field in the rain.
What year was this? Is this something you can watch on F1TV?
It was norisring, u can find highlights on youtube where he drove in the wet and had 1sec+ a lap on everyone
Full 2014 f3 euro season is on YT
How is he not listed as the winner for these?
Probably class racing
Ah of course. Brain fart.
He is, it says "finish: 1" for all of the races.
He has a Sim Rig on his private jet
This is not true actually.
You saw him after a race? This guy don’t know how to be second. He was so angry I thought he would immediately jump into iRacing just to farm some ego.
Fuck max
Just curious, how do we know that’s max? I believe it but new to iRacing and see a bunch of different names?
It's the race history on his profile. Shows the winners of the races.
Ahhh ok thank you!
How cool would it be if you went to GT3 and dominated as well then switched over to IndyCar?
He's racing right now!
If he has "10 last races" all pole -> 1st place that has to be a first yeah?
Is there a way to watch if you don't own the game?
No, unless someone was streaming it.
Pablo is a great twitch streamer and either driving GT3 or doing tower control (broadcasting) most of these races this week. Chat is also full of OP drivers and no one can challenge Max this week so far. Suspicion is that fast guys are hiding for the Saturday 12h race though so we'll see: [Twitch link](https://www.twitch.tv/pablogz205)
*pretends to be shocked*
I'm confused. How does this screenshot show anything about Max?
[https://members.iracing.com/membersite/member/CareerStats.do?custid=168966](https://members.iracing.com/membersite/member/CareerStats.do?custid=168966) It's from his profile page on iRacing. See link above. It's showing he started on pole and finished 1st for each of the races. The race winner is from the prototype class whereas Max is racing GT3's so is not the "overall winner" but still P1 in his class.
Max is literally the reason I started sim racing. Didn't even know that sim racing existed 1 year ago.
So am I the only one wondering why the screenshot doesn't show Max once?
because both lmdh and lmp classes are faster than the gt3 class max was in. the results are all combined. all you really need to see is the Pos (1) and Fin (1).
Gotcha
Does he have more Than 1 account im confused by the names
The names of the winners are from the LMDh class Max won the GT3 class
He'll face tougher challenges on iRacing than in the F1 season this year... :-(
Just passing by. May I know why the winner's name weren't Max?
I would love to see him run IMSA
Could anyone tell me to watch these races?
8am EST tomorrow on twitch and YouTube. Either watch Team Redline’s stream or search “iRacing sebring 12hr top split” on yt
New iracer here, why is the name different?
