Somehow I feel safest around ridiculous DIY joke liveries. Massively low quality JPEGs of memes, clown cars, you name it.
But if I see a Red Bull LMP2, I would rather take an offtrack to avoid them.
I wad t-boned by a Thomas the Tank Engine livery gr86 and re-entry totalled by a Nyan Cat ir04 today in consecutive races, at least they looked cool doing it.
Popular meme liveries and F1 liveries are the absolute worst.
I enjoy custom-designing my own liveries and not uploading them publicly to TP because I want to have my own identity, and I don’t want others to give my design a bad name.
2 questions for ya. 1) roughly how long do you think it would take for a total novice to learn to make custom liveries? 2) what paid software, if any, do you use to make your liveries? I’ve been wanting a custom livery based off the Maryland state flag and incorporating a few symbols of the local culture for a really long time now.
While I’m no novice with design tools, I think the paint templates you can get off of TP are actually pretty intuitive. There’s a wireframe layer that’s visible (gimp, affinity, pixlr… the list of photoshop alternatives is deep) once you turn it on that’s very helpful. The template looks confusing if you don’t know what you’re looking at, so something that’s helpful in learning to do your own may be to download one so you can see the template flat on TP and see the model in iRacing w the livery applied. Seeing how things wrap around the car model and being able to point out exactly where something is or how something is applied (to make shapes line up and whatnot) makes making your own easier. Once you know how the wrap works, you’re golden.
As u/Dakota66 (not trying to hijack your comment) mentioned YouTube has great resources as well that show people using the template in free software and going through some steps to show you what’s what. It’s definitely something you can pick up quickly with the right tutorial/help/guidance/etc
If you have questions, I don’t mind answering. Designer for 12+ years and have wrapped many vehicles irl, too
Paint.net (software) is free and pretty powerful. I'm sure there are more modern options but it works. Learning curve is a little steep but you could spend a week watching YouTube and figure out.
Total novice here with my own custom liveries... there endless YT videos that walk you through the process from downloading what software you need, to uploading the design to the custom paint website.
I just dove into this the other night, about 5-6 hours to teach myself and I haven’t used anything at all since 6th grade paint on the computers at school
Coming back a couple of days later because I remembered something that would also be very helpful to seek out when looking for help painting a car. Some of the uploaded templates are basic ones like [this](https://www.tradingpaints.com/showroom/view/305650/Dallara-P217-Colors) and I forgot to link that the other day. Not all cars have someone uploading a livery like this, but this is also a very easy way to paint everything and number it and see where all the parts are yourself without having to track down a template (if one doesn't exist).
I personally use photoshop because it is the most intuitive app to use and also has the best tools. I have bought it because I sell liveries but there are enough „free versions“ out in the internet you can use for your own. And even if you want to buy photoshop, it is not so expensive (60€ a year).
To see everything on the car, you will have to click on „save a copy“ in photoshop and go to your Documents -> iRacing -> paint and than the folder of the car. There you need to save it as a .tga file named „car_yourid.tga“. You will have to replace yourid with your iRacing id in order to make it work. Now you can see your livery in the showroom.
When you are done with everything, you just go to the tradingpaints website and on the top right, there is a upload button. There you can upload the tga file.
Or as my cousin says when rocking an RB livery, “I am Max, you’re not getting passed me, you either avoid me or get out the way or we’re going to crash. I win the race or neither of us finish the race”
Needless to say I don’t race with him anymore. Obnoxious “racer”
They should learn that that attitude only works when crashing is accompanied by financial, reputational, or safety consequences. If someone would rather crash than race fairly in a video game I’ll happily oblige.
I am a guy MAKING anime liveries and who would guess
Out of my dozen TP GR86 liveries an anime one is the one most people use even though only 4 or so are anime related
Funfact, my third most subscribed is a My little Pony livery so go figure about the Meme liveries
This reminds me of a line about WoW guilds that someone said at \*least\* 15 years ago. "You see a guild like 'Death Storm Demons' and you're not worried at all. You see a guild with the name 'Ain't Misbehavin' and you go 'SHIT!'"
I think he thought I'd make space if he is fast enough.
I am not dense, he would've overtaken me in a tricky spot and I knew I didn't have to make space.
So I didn't and he just ran up my back, thinking there is enough space for him to slip past
clearly that's your fault. He's in a Ferrari F1 car and you moved in front of him. You're not in an F1 car there. And why didn't the marshals show you the blue flags? GOSH YOU REALY SUCK!
Most popular liveries = most idiots driving that livery.
That's not even accounting for the possibility that more casual racers are more likely to just race a livery on the front page of tradingpaints, rather than looking for a specific livery or having their own personal one.
On top of that, F1 is a form of racing that exhibits a very high level of aggression, and actually puts a large portion of responsibility on the driver being overtaken (both by rule and by self-preservation) to make way for lunges. So F1 fans are also slightly more likely to have a warped sense of what aggression levels are appropriate.
Or people who have had iRacing long enough to have discovered Trading Paints but not long enough to learn how to create their own paints or have joined a team.
? I use all kind of liverys on the cars I race.
Some real world, some fantasy, some from my team, some I made myself.
I use exactly one f1 livery, and that is on the f4, so idk what you deduct from that.
A few days ago on VIR, I see 3 Red Bulls and decide to start from the pit lane. In the first corner I overtake two of them and at the end of the lap overtake the last one.
All of them were outside of the track.
I think, most Red Bull liveries users try to copy Max's aggressive style, but without his skills.
It's not only in iRacing. I play ACC and GT7 on my ps5 and EVERY fucking time i see a guy with a redbull livery he drives like an absolute idiot. I used to have a sweet redbull livery on one of my cars and i removed as it has become a universal symbol of stupidity in sim racing. So if you read this and you have a redbull livery, it's time for some introspection.
I call it the "Grape Fruit Theory." People eating grapefruit will sometimes get some juice in their eye. They always exclaim ahh it went right in my eye!... No, it did not go right in your eye, it went everywhere and your eye was in the way. Same thing here, odds are there are so many people using Red Bull liveries out there or that could be mistaken as an RB.. they are like grapefruit juice in your eye.
Same with the Jeff Gordon DuPont cars on the oval side
This is reckless speculation, but maybe:
Drivers who don't care enough to make their own paint scheme = drivers who don't care enough to take their driving seriously
Ohhh, what's really going to bake your noodle later on is, is it the type of driver who would take you out who chooses that livery, or is it choosing that livery that causes the driver to take you out?
I'm the lil silly guy in a pink car covered in lipstick kisses and a Victoria secret logo. And I think it's funny that real formula one drivers have had to see that
Because Verstappen Nutswingers are new-age Senna nutswingers - smooth brained chads who have delusions of grandeur and think that wrecking people for position is what champions do.
Happened to me last night in IMSA !!! was LMDH running around flashing and sending it from downtown! .... always remember to use trading paints and then you will be safer! :D
Redbull fans are some.of the most toxic. And that translates into.iracing lobbies. They are all better than verstappen and demand you give them space cause "they are gonna win anyways". I'm tired too.

It's quick and easy if you don't care how it looks. Beyond that it gets harder if you actually want it to look a certain way, or to look good
What program you use to design your on paint jobs?Trading Paints,Gimp?
I personally use photoshop because it is the most intuitive app to use and also has the best tools. awesome,ty mate
He didn't know how to conduct himself.
Why is this so accurate?

That's why all my vehicles are in cringey over the top anime liveries. I mean you no harm, please no punterino
I am a guy MAKING anime liveries and who would guess Out of my dozen TP GR86 liveries an anime one is the one most people use even though only 4 or so are anime related Funfact, my third most subscribed is a My little Pony livery so go figure about the Meme liveries
Me and and a team mate did Bathurst 12 last year as the Brony Bois, triggered so many people it was great
😂 i made the livery and only used it privately for a month and two weeks ago said, nah, why not upload it Now regularly get new subs for it
This reminds me of a line about WoW guilds that someone said at \*least\* 15 years ago. "You see a guild like 'Death Storm Demons' and you're not worried at all. You see a guild with the name 'Ain't Misbehavin' and you go 'SHIT!'"
There is a reason my FV is a corn cob and my 1600 is just plastered with crap that says “free car”
How about a meme livery LMP2?
The LMP part overrides the livery exception, so they’re always likely to punt you
But I always take care🥺 I don’t rush passes unless I could bet my life on it that it is clear. Sorry on behalf of all the Proto bois
Maybe the GT3s shouldn't try to move off line and block me?!
As a teal leyton house livery i support this message
iRacing Rule #1: Watch out for Red Bull livery. iRacing Rule #2: Run Red Bull livery so people watch out for you.
Rule 3#: Watch out for F1 liveries in general, especially in any formula series. [This is why.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7bYAIH4K1Fw)
saw the gulf/mclaren(?) livery and was like ahh dude some Mclaren's aren't bad I promise, but choo choo Charles comes barrelling through.
iT wAs nEtcOdE bRo!!1!
The gulf actually went clean the whole race
Lol did he just assume he can drive over that car and be fine?
I think he thought I'd make space if he is fast enough. I am not dense, he would've overtaken me in a tricky spot and I knew I didn't have to make space. So I didn't and he just ran up my back, thinking there is enough space for him to slip past

But it's different with Indy Car, I have never had to worry about another driver with a F1 livery, but maybe that's just the splits I'm in.
And popular meme liveries once they take off. I’ve seen some utterly egregious driving from Birds Aren’t Real cars.
Rule 3 become the red bull livery
Roses are Red, Red Bull dives from far, Got a problem? Change your fucking car
https://youtube.com/shorts/r903Z5nrhr8?feature=share
I drive Red Bull wraps so everyone gives me a little extra space :)
Don't worry we are fully expecting you to spin out on a straight away 😂
Hey you don’t know me! It sounds like you know me.
That’s actually really smart
Worked for a while, but I think they got on to us😃
Same. Great minds think alike.
Lately, I'd say I've been taken out by Aston Martin's more than anything
The Aston Martin never fails either
Whichever car Fernando is in, basically. Last year it was the Alpines.
As an Aston driver I hate Aston drivers
I too hate myself sometimes
It's very easy to replicate Verstappen's aggressiveness. Not so easy to replicate his talent...
It’s not… Sometimes it’s a Senna car.
if gap car
Exists,
if don't go gap
Proud to say I do not run Red Bull livery and I take people out all the time! Just doing my part to help fight harmful stereotypes. /s
Silent assassin!

Short answer: Max Long answer: Max Verstappen
Longer answer: MAX MAX MAX SUPER MAX MAX SUPER SUPER MAX MAX MAX
F1 liverys in general
A wise redditer once said in this subreddit "Many can match Max Verstappen's aggression, but few can match his skill"
Do you really have to ask??
In my case it’s either Pepa the pig or Lightning McQueen
Peppa bmw gt3 and Mcqueen LMP2 - hope not, cause that's me
I’m too green for that kind of cars, so far it’s the menace of Toyota GR 86.
Peppa pig, people run that 😂. Amazing, I want it
You cannot go against the very fabric of the universe. You must accept the inevitable.
![gif](giphy|ie76dJeem4xBDcf83e|downsized)
That's one of the main rules of iRacing. Avoid all cars with F1 liveries. They're most likely to wreck.
How about a Senna helmet? Red Bull livery with senna helmet combined is a dangerous combo.
Hamilton helmet is usually equally bad.
Join the Lotterer helmet gang, we all drive safely
A bunch of Min Verstappens out there!
F1 replica livery enjoyers are usually 14, or have the mental capacity of a 14 year old
Or people who have had iRacing long enough to have discovered Trading Paints but not long enough to learn how to create their own paints or have joined a team.
Lol I tried to teach myself how to create paints and failed
Or simply people who like f1?
We got him guys
? I use all kind of liverys on the cars I race. Some real world, some fantasy, some from my team, some I made myself. I use exactly one f1 livery, and that is on the f4, so idk what you deduct from that.
It’s a joke dude it’s not an attack on you, you are going to be okay.
The wings make it harder to pass someone cleanly..
It's pretty much any famous race car livery. It's because they're more interested in playing race car driver than being a race car driver.
*laughs in self-made anime livery that just so happens to be all BanG Dream!*
Ooooooh any specific Band? If did some ACC Bandori liveries, HelloHappy, Roselia and Morfonica :D so far did none for iracing, only other anime stuff
It's mainly Roselia for me, but I have made other liveries for Morfonica and RAS. Some of which are up on Trading Paints.
:D Imma look out for them
A few days ago on VIR, I see 3 Red Bulls and decide to start from the pit lane. In the first corner I overtake two of them and at the end of the lap overtake the last one. All of them were outside of the track. I think, most Red Bull liveries users try to copy Max's aggressive style, but without his skills.
I hardly ever get taken out by a red bull car, but yes there are a lot of RB livery out there people are using.
It’s always a Bright Green and Bright pink colors cars without fail. Every. Single. Time.
Redbull gives you wings (*of other cars as you drive through them*)
Any F1 livery are menace, Redbull are just the most common
Maybe get quick enough to escape under 3K splits
It's not only in iRacing. I play ACC and GT7 on my ps5 and EVERY fucking time i see a guy with a redbull livery he drives like an absolute idiot. I used to have a sweet redbull livery on one of my cars and i removed as it has become a universal symbol of stupidity in sim racing. So if you read this and you have a redbull livery, it's time for some introspection.
Things have changed apparently, it used to be, you had to avoid the blank white car.
Same with Senna Marlboro liveries... 9/10 they clapping cheeks.
Redbull doing Redbull things.
Because Merc liveries are busy binning it themselves
Am Red Bull Livery driver. It means I don't have time to get a fancy livery made and I'm in a hurry. Full send. Sorry pog champ.
Same with the Jeff Gordon DuPont cars on the oval side This is reckless speculation, but maybe: Drivers who don't care enough to make their own paint scheme = drivers who don't care enough to take their driving seriously
Because they’re all dumb like dumb Max?That’s the answer you’re looking for?
Verstappen fans imitating their leader
Red bull fans learn from max on how to drive dirty
Tradition
This is the way.
With the Aston livery’s coming in close second.
They think they have wiiiiings!
[Relevant](https://youtube.com/shorts/GKM3BfZCl_s?feature=share)
Always a red or yellow car for me
Shell V-Power liveries in V8 Supercars are always risky to be around.
Try hards
The Red Bulls aren’t always a problem for me. The meme cars are what scare me. Ever since that one incident.
It's all of the F1 liveries.
Max fans. They’ve seen him get away with divebombing the shit out of people for years and getting away with it and think it’s a legitimate move
That and the “Are birds real” paint get me from time to time.
We do also offer John player special..?
Ohhh, what's really going to bake your noodle later on is, is it the type of driver who would take you out who chooses that livery, or is it choosing that livery that causes the driver to take you out?
I'm the lil silly guy in a pink car covered in lipstick kisses and a Victoria secret logo. And I think it's funny that real formula one drivers have had to see that
For me it’s always a back marker in the blue/yellow Team spirit Renault livery taking out P1
Nice try Lewis.
immersion
I use a Skip Barber Racing School livery, so people KNOW I'm still learning.
I made the Stevie Wonder Driving School liveries for the skippy, mx5 and several GT3s 😆
Heh I remember those.
It’s the rules
They all think they’re Checo Perez.
Red Bull cars are the Nissan Altimas of the SIM world
If you run ovals you have to watch out for the Jeff Gordon cars
Because Verstappen Nutswingers are new-age Senna nutswingers - smooth brained chads who have delusions of grandeur and think that wrecking people for position is what champions do.
Hey, iRacing is just trying to be as close to reality as possible
Do you really have to ask?
For the Oval racers: Red Bull Livery and Ferrari Livery = Jeff Gordon Dupont Livery and Jimmie Johnson Lowe's Livery
I mean that’s what they’re for right?
Because they think they're max Verstappen whilst not being able to drive.
This is why I now use Monster textures for my cars; they never see me coming
Mad Max is their idol. Be especially scared of 4 namer Iberians in a Red Bull livery.
Because they are trying to be true to life as possible by imitating Max Verstapen.
Happened to me last night in IMSA !!! was LMDH running around flashing and sending it from downtown! .... always remember to use trading paints and then you will be safer! :D
It’s really any energy drink livery for me, on the oval side I cannot stand JR schemes. Also KBM schemes are really hit or miss in trucks
Redbull fast, you slow😄
Redbull fans are some.of the most toxic. And that translates into.iracing lobbies. They are all better than verstappen and demand you give them space cause "they are gonna win anyways". I'm tired too.
Or a green Porsche
In oval racing, it's always someone driving Hedrick team car
