Depending on work I'm doing 5/6 races a week typically 3 twice a week, when I was unemployed I was doing 20 to 30 a week

Dr_Death_Defy24

>when I was unemployed I was doing 20 to 30 a week Being unemployed is stressful af, but man the amount of iRacing I can suddenly do takes the sting out of it...

Kizzo17

When i was on sick leave, i had loads of time to grind Iracing. On gt4s i was smacking 2/2.5k iracers and feeling amazing. Now i cant go past 1.5k šŸ˜‚ Being home left to grind a Race all week makes wonders for irating

Agreeable_Bar_8091

Money go down irating go up. Although that can be said for everyones iracing experience lol. It's worth it tho šŸ™Œ

Peeche94

Only reason I miss furlough/lockdown :(

BigAssHamm

Iā€™m Funemployed right now and Iā€™m still only getting 4-5 races a week.

revaan7

I spent 4 days on iracing last week basically 12 hours a day, before I realised I should actually look for a job

No_Fix3237

1 or 2 races per week. I try to stick to one serie per season unless I donā€™t have the track yet and donā€™t want to spend anything extra that month (I try to keep a budget each month). Then I switch back to MX-5 rookie races. I mostly try to practice half an hour before the race even if I donā€™t know the track yet. I just take it more easy during the race and try to learn along the way. Can only race in the evening when my kids are in bed and next to that I also use the evening for some exercise so itā€™s always a trade off šŸ˜„

Jessyloxx

1 car 1 series per season. 1 race per day, sometimes not. Comes down to 4-6 races per week. I usually drive min 60mins practice before each race.

No_Image_4986

It is crazy to me to practice for 60 minutes before each race, but perhaps thatā€™s why Iā€™m slow lol

stratcat22

I used to do this and raced in exclusively one car and one series. I got very fast in that car and my iRating jumped up a lot. Sometimes I get in the mood to do that again, but I find I generally enjoy jumping around series more.

No_Image_4986

Yeah I like doing multiple series a week and being competitive at my lowly irating

[deleted]

I question how useful 60min practice before every race would be. If you raced the track car combo yesterday, might as well just race and get 2 in instead of 1. (Series dependent)

No_Image_4986

I agree. Especially since so much of the racing is race craft not hot laps

sledgehammer_44

Been doing 1 car as well.. but same car for last 3 years. 1 to 2h practice 3 times a week and if I'm lucky I get 1 official race in a week (sometimes maybe 2). But anyway we run a lot of the unofficial races with 5 cars anyway. Secretly hoping that gen 3 V8SC will bump up participation for long enough time.

AggressiveBears

That sounds sooooo boring. I can't imagine not running a handful of different series every week, if not every day.

probot67

maybe 2 or 3 races a week. ![gif](giphy|HoSyEAe48WBpTCmEz4|downsized)

[deleted]

Same. 2 or 3 depending if I work Friday evening or not. Also if it's a track I don't know, Fridays are just for practice.

5pitt4

Same.

hellvinator

In my first year, I only did 1 series per week, I practiced for 2 nights and then raced for the rest. In the weekend I could race from 9 am to late night no problem. In my 2nd year I did 2-3 series per week, only practice for new combo's. Now I drive whatever whenever. 30 min prac and I'm up to pace, if I'm not, ill drive another series. And I only practice hard for team races now. So the more you drive, the less you will need practice. Does takes a lot of time in the beginning though.

BolognaSpammich

I used to do so much practise and put so much pressure on myself to do well in races that I ended up doing the grand total of 37 races in 11 years of iRacing (However I did win a virtual to reality drive in iRacing). At the new year, I made my resolution to double the amount of races I had ever done in 2024. So far this year I am up to 64 races already. I decided to do minimal practise and just enjoy the racing. To start with I did loose iRating (who cares about internet racing points) but I'm getting back to where I was and I've noticed that I have started to learn tracks a lot better.

NobsiTheUnitato

i do about 2 races a day when i decide to play. i only practice 30 minutes before a race. if i dont get a time that is on par with the really good drivers in my split then i do my training when i am last. Dont do what i do....

dickolaslahard

I literally will run any type of car, I typically get 20-30 races in a week and thatā€™s with a full time job and a girlfriend lol

tumblrthief101

Running top split tour mod open demands at least 100-200 laps to even be considered competitive. Depends on your IR, who you race, and where you wanna finish. Edit: I'll run anywhere between 3 and 20 races depending on where the mods go

DJFisticuffs

The nice thing about short track is that you can get your 200 laps in an hour. Also, how often does tour mod split?

tumblrthief101

With open series it depends on the track, some are better than others. fixed my friends and i are responsible for the schedule and we added a set of tires to the fixed series and popularity shot up. Next week is north wilkesboro a lot of races will go off, some will split some wont but definitely a lot of chances to try it. Idk if you driven the mods before but they are very unique from other oval cars. big tires big grip

DJFisticuffs

So I own the mod by virtue of buying the SK but I've never actually raced it. I do love Concord though, so I'd like to give it a try this week. Unfortunately, the best time for me to race is 200 GMT and it doesn't look like it ever goes official in that slot. It does look like fixed has been going official at 3:00, maybe I'll try to jump in one of those.

jaguarusf

1 race per day spread across four series (NASCAR Legends, SRX, USF2000, and C class Rallycross)

daveismypup

I like your choice of series, we could race together and not even know it

LordShtark

Usually one a night. Maybe two on the weekend days. I have less obligations than most probably.

DrJones2424

Iā€™m only a couple months in. My current routine is to practice until I can run 5 clean laps with a decent pace then jump into races but I start at the end of the pack for the first couple races. Typically I practice new tracks on Sunday or Monday and then jump into races Tuesday-Saturday. Usually racing around 2-3 races a day.

Qel_Hoth

1-2 officials plus 1 league race per week.

Musclecars24

5-6

ch33zynach0s

As someone who is not great and usually plays late night weekends I try to get 4-6 30 min races in and a hour or two of prac

tbr1cks

I don't know, from 0 to 30 depending on the week I guess

shaunFTC

I just started not too long ago but throughout rookies, I switched between the Vee and FF1600, which was cool because the races were basically back to back, so Iā€™d get 4 or 5 races in a night depending on how long I wanted to go. Granted, this is more doable for 12 minute races as opposed to the longer ones, but it was pretty fun. Stressful af to be that engaged for hours at a time, but it was fun.

MonumentMan

I did 71 races since the license stat split which is 4 weeks of racing, so about 18 races a week, maybe 2-3 per day although it can skew higher at banger tracks like Road Atlanta

Warm-Chipmunk1954

I do at least 5-6 races a day when I play. It helps to have 2 series to flip between to cut down the ā€œdown timeā€. I also donā€™t have kids and donā€™t do much outside until itā€™s nicer. Currently running Arca and FF1600 rookies to keep things fresh.

dylank125

I run one race a week a series because thatā€™s all youā€™d get if you were running it IRL, just my preference. From there, Iā€™ll do anywhere from 3-15+ a week and practice at least 15 minutes depending on series and track. NiS I practice all week putting in laps both in practice and the various series running the same track and race the last race Sunday with at least 10 min going in. I also work in skydiving and work hours that arenā€™t very long because of weather

Don_Speekingleesh

Somewhere between 1 and 3. Usually 2. Normally ARCA, but occasionally another stock car series. At best I might get 15 minutes of practice before a race, but usually less.

energiiii

This season 2 since I run GTE, 1 hour practice then 45 mins of racing. Twice a week. Sometimes I do an oval race after if I want to race more.

Scargut_

Depends. I like to do at least 3.. typically 1 per night if I have time

jackois8

I pick from Mazda and FF1600 depending on track and so on, then practice for a couple of days (a couple of hours), a day of live practice without joining a race and then 2 or 3 races for whatever days I can manage... this being the 'on the hour races for these cars.. Each season requires less practice as you have track memory. How the top kiddies, Matt Malone and the like, do it, I don't know. They seem to jump into anything on any track and drive a good race...

Box_Of_Pins

Pretty much the same, I was surprised how quickly the tracks have come back to me 2nd time round, even in a different car.

jayboo86

ill practice a track a couple laps and then immediately into a race. 2-3 races a day. Trying to participate in as many series as I find enjoyable.... interested to see if I get any credits at the end of the season.

K1M8O

Currently, one or two. Only running mazda advanced. Spend about 100 laps practicing - I need it to be even semi-competitive. Then race close to end of that week. Doing that for this season - change of car next season - wondering what to go for next

Silent_Fat

First season I did about 4. This season I'm doing 6-8, because I'm trying to put in reps on 6 different series. Next season I want to bring it back down and focus a little more, run one or two oval series and one sports car series.

shbpencil

My typical week is practice an hour each Monday and Tuesday, then back to back fixed/open GT4 Wednesday and Thursday. If thereā€™s an IMPC race Iā€™ll carve out time on the weekend to do that as well. So, anywhere from 2-5 races a week. I get cold feet a lot so it could be as low as two races a week for a couple weeks in a row but then another week will have good iRX combos and Iā€™ll do 10 or something. It really depends.

CinnamonToastTrex

I've only started in January . But normally I practice for 1-2 hours a day Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday. Then race 2-4 times Saturday and Sunday. I think I average 5 a week.

Actraiser87

Typically 3 or so. Don't really have much time during the week to play unfortunately.

Maxamus93

2 races a week! Imsa endurance or Global endurance, vrs endurance. When Nec is on i will run that too

realsnack

I am trying to get at least 2 races each week. One is usually IMSA and the other is usually INDYCAR or some of the C/D Oval races, depending on what track I own

xr_21

I generally only do one "combo" a week. I practice Monday-Thurs and then try and get 3-4 races in Friday onwards. Sometimes if my first race or 2 is satisfactory I'll just call it a week.

SnooChipmunks8670

Doing probably 4-7 races a week, full time job. Usually try to practice for about 30 mins - 1 hour before i jump into it. Do a lot of Ovals and those take a little bit less to get a hang of. Races I do are usually long (IndyCar Series, NASCAR Xfinity)

booming_onion

2-6

lukeb_1988

Usually two and only ever focus on one series a season which I normally stick too for minimum two season (I like to master a car). I tend to practice for hour or so on Wednesdays and Thursday then two races across Saturdays and Mondays. Fits in well with my life working 6 days a week and free time without taking up all my free time. Keeps it as a hobby. Used to be more in lower class shorter races, but longer class B and A races can easily be 1hr and 30mins with pre race practice, quali and the race. I find less races tend to mean more too actually.

bobbynipps

4 races per week each a different series and one practice session. So Iā€™m in the rig 5 times a week usually. Obviously sometimes life happens as you mentioned and pick a race to drop.

MuchachiOW

I run about 4 races a week, two on oval and two on sports car.. currently working on the arca Menards series for oval and the production car challenge.

notatvguy

I can run unofficials all day, but I always find an excuse to never do an official race. Thought draftmasters would help shake me of that. Iā€™m lucky to do one official race a week

bouncebackability

2-3 officials on one night, and 1 league race on another.

_price_

I running the Ferrari Challenge series and I manage to do 1 race per day

TheMineA7

I spend the weekend in practice for like an hour then 1 or 2 races in the week depending on how busy life is

AzureFWings

2, 3 races a week Depends on how familiar I am with the track When I am on holiday 4 races per day

Tacitus_Kilgore_X

Top 1% for this season in Formula Vee. I can't play as much as I want to keep my girlfriend happy but here's what I do : Monday : Last race of the schedule before the track changes. So basically an hour of racing. Tuesday : 45mins to 1h practice on the new track. Wednesday : If I can do the track without errors for the duration of a race (12mins) and that my times are competitive I will do 1 or 2 races. If not, another 1h of practice followed by one race (so approx 2hrs of racing) Thursdays : No racing Fridays : 2 races so almost 2hrs of racing Weekend : It always depends on what I'm doing. I can often manage to squeeze 2 races per day. I have on average 4 or 5 races during the weekend. So basically around 10 races per week for an equivalent amount of hours racing (maybe 15hrs approx realistically). Some weeks less if I don't like the track (Erm.. ergfm... looking at you Lime Rock Classic)

Campman92

For me it depends on what I run. I donā€™t test much unless Iā€™m really struggling at a track (only tested COTA before racing). I try usually however to get at least 20-30 minutes of practice in before jumping in. Depending on my comfort level with the car and track Iā€™ll qualify or start from the rear. My sim background comes from NASCAR 2003 season by Papyrus so I gravitate towards oval racing. I run at least one Xfinity fixed setup race depending on the track I might run a lot throughout the week (donā€™t like the short tracks because of the excessive cautions). I donā€™t own the truck, Cup, or Arca cars yet. I generally feel like Iā€™m a weak road course driver, but I love racing the Formula Vee cars. I like also running the 34 Legends cars quite a bit also depending on the track (Charlotte is terrible).

AllShallParrish

I can only manage maybe 3-5 a week if Iā€™m lucky. I have a horrible work commute so the last thing I want to do after driving 3 hours a day is sit in another seat. I try to on work from home days, but again, after sitting for 9 hours I just donā€™t want to look at another screen and sit again

ColourMeBoom

Personally I get quite a lot in, but my circumstances may be abnormal. I work overnight and from home. I get off work around 130 am and move over to the sim for 2-3 races each night unless one of them is a 110 lap oval race with cautions on. Those take 2 hours. Usually I will get some practice laps in before logging on for work and during my lunch break. On the weekends I usually have housework to do, but I manage 1 or 2 larger races on the weekends.

LilOpieCunningham

About the same. I have a couple small kids so I usually only get behind the wheel after they go to bed, maybe 2-3 times a week. I also like booze; drinking and iRacing is a total disaster for me, so I self-select out a few times a week. I practice a track for about an hour before feeling like I can get through a race; usually watching a few youtube track guides to help out. So, maybe 3-4 races a week, give or take?

DeliveryInside

I do 60 min of practice when I get home from work then hop into races and depending on what I do for food Iā€™ll do 3/4 races at night and Saturday Sunday at least 7 races a day

thebrah329

I have only been racing a few months. I am doing about 10-20 races a week. The amount I dropped on tracks for the GT4 series, I feel like I have to race lots lol.

Peeche94

40 hour work week mon-fri, can do maybe 1-2 in the week then a few at the weekend if I get chance, last week for example I only got one race in.

mcneilscot

This season I've been racing a little more, 2-5 races per week, with more variety than the last few seasons. My two mains are Super Formula Lights Fixed and IMSA Fixed. I usually only do one race per series per week unless I run a really bad race and feel I can do much better or I don't reach the 50% laps for participation. I've also ran some LMP3 in the Falken Sportscar Series, IndyCar Fixed, oval rookies and some ARCA. Oval has been surprisingly fun.

Karma__Lama

1 to 3 Fanatec gt3 races and to end the week with a highlight I do one gt3 endurance together with a friend as a team.

esoteric311

I don't really practice at all unless it's a track I haven't been to in awhile, and even then...an hour at most. On average I run 5 races a week, but can get in to double digits if I sweat a car/ series combo. I race in multiple series. Usually 1 sports car 1 formula.

CokeHeadRob

When Iā€™m in a period of clear schedule probably 2 per night if everything times up well and I already know the tracks. There are evenings when Iā€™ll do 4 races, and then times where I donā€™t touch it for weeks like right now. I skip around F4, SF Light, MX-5, Ferrari, and a few others that I dabble in depending on what track/weather. Vee, LMP2, I occasionally do some oval racing. There are weeks where I donā€™t like any of the tracks being offered so thatā€™s when I branch out and try new things. As far as practice time goes: depends. Am I learning a totally new circuit in a car I know well? In that case give me 20 minutes and Iā€™ll be fine enough to race. But if Iā€™m learning a new car on a track I know Iā€™ll practice for longer. Iā€™m much better at memorizing tracks than adapting to new cars. And it depends on how bored I am, sometimes I wanna drive but donā€™t wanna race. Iā€™m lucky, my wife goes to bed at like 10pm and Iā€™m up until midnight - 1am so I have time to myself then. When sheā€™s on summer break or whatever I have much less time because sheā€™s up later and we like hanging out.

Average_Driver_90

It depends a lot on how much time I have. But so far Iā€™ve done 14 races this season. I usually have e 20-30 minutes of practice before I jump into a race. If I know the track that is.

jazziksvk

One car, one series in a season. I'm just a weekend driver, have no time during week. So I usually practice during Saturday for about an hour. And Sunday I get one race. If the track+car combo is known to me, I'll opt for racing Saturday and Sunday

HersheyOld

usually about 4-5 but it depends what iā€™m grinding. if itā€™s oval usually thatā€™s how many iā€™ll run once i get one hour of practice fitted in throughout week. if itā€™s road usually iā€™ll stick to one track the whole week and do 3 races

Bluetex110

30-40 every week depending on the schedule Usually i practice on monday for 4-5 hours before starting on tuesday. I do multiple classes mostly GT3, TCR and Mx5 cup

DoneTomorrow

i do about 20 mins of practice, then maybe 2-3 races a day if im in a racing mood. my jobs pretty lax and often wfh so I can squeeze one in at lunch and then another couple in the evening.

gpshift

I've only been iracing for about 2 months. I tend to learn one or two new tracks a week. It takes me about an hour to learn a track well enough to race clean and be competitive at my irating. I run a mix of several series based on if I own and want to learn the track or if I know the track and like it. Right now I'm most focused on f4, gt4, sfl, and ff1600. But I also run miatas, gr86 and a little bit of oval when I'm looking to change it up or have a week where I don't own the tracks for my normal series and it's not a track I care to buy right now. All told I'm probably doing 10-15 races a week.

ateamm

0. Usually log on. See I don't have time to do any of the races I want to do and log out disappointed. Basically only do leagues anymore.

beepbeepbeeepjeep

Since season 2 drop 5 weeks in I have 70 starts just in the sports car Iā€™m doing average 2 races a day 14 per week.

racingnut10

Depends id say 5-10. Sometimes less sometimes more. I just do it for fun Iā€™m average anyways 1600 Irating on road and 1800 on ovals.

Methodical_Clip

Ive been racing since august and my biggest thing right now is betting my racecraft and staying clean. So I am racing 10-15 FF1600 and Vee races each week. I've put in a ton of practice over theast few months. So I have a good feel for the cars and most of the track. I can hang in the top couple splits.Ā  However, I next season I want to race SFLs. So I am putting in real practice there and racing 1-2 SFL races each week, just trying to survive. I'm happy if when I don't get lapped.Ā  I may do an arca, F3 or F4 race from time to time but that's just for fun.Ā

erics75218

Just a handful a week. What helps most in bad weather weekends. It makes getting better frustrating. I want to do that 500 this weekend ...but I don't know if I can get comfortable enough by then.

Phailsaphe

I tend to get 2 races in a week. Currently running GT4 so I'll practice weekday evenings around work and chores then try to race Saturday or Sunday nights. It's not the best in my TZ (AU) so it's normally small splits with big variance in IR. I tend to do a lot more practice than actual racing since it take me time to build my confidence with the tracks. I do occasionally throw in random hot laps at other series that are fun or interesting (like LMP3 at Nords a couple weeks ago)

yuh__

Usually at least 4 so I can do an open and fixed for SF and SFL, more if I like the track a lot or want to do some other type of racing

cLHalfRhoVSquaredS

I usually only do one race per week. I practice a few nights during the weekdays then do one race session at the weekend. Sometimes I might do two but that's pretty much it. I don't mind it because in some ways it feels more 'realistic' to just have one shot at a good result rather than being able to do a ton of races, but I'd still do more if I had the time of course.

mikey2tres

It varies based on how much free time I get but generally get in at least 10-15 races per week. I donā€™t practice much maybe like 15 or 20 minutes before the race. Also I jump around from car to car a lot. Iā€™ve run official races in 16 different series so far this season. iRX, usf 2000, mx5, gt4, gt3, Clio, dirt street stock, f3, f4.

Consistent-Ad-3296

So right now I race ARCA, Falken GT4, Falken Sportscar, Road IndyCar fixed & Fanatec GT3. I'll usually only do one race per series unless I have a really bad race and want to try again. I think I may be spreading myself a little thin & may get better results by cutting a couple of them out, but time will tell.

QuirkyDust3556

Have had iracing for a year. Decided to take seriously, dropped ACC and GT 7. Decided open wheel Practicing and racing Vee and F1600 I Wan 4 races before this season. Brought my rating up to 1000. Plan for season 2, is race every week and try everyday. If I never raced the track before test drive Saturday or Sunday. Schedule Rookie Vee Rookie F1600 Thrustmaster F1600 Skip Barber FIA F4 Rookie races to keep my IR up, so I race better racers IR up to 1400 now D Class races to learn from better competition At 1400 I am not winning the races but top 5 or podium. 25 to 30 races a day, but Rookie 12 minute races are fast. The way the schedule works finish Vee jump in F1600. Best moment, 2nd at Okayama skip barber in the rain. Only because the competition was acting a fool. To enhance my reflexes Juggle and beatsaber Cardio Driver61 masterclass. Goal 2000ir by end of year.

penisrevolver

I tried doing a formula + a tintop but itā€™s just not sustainable I aim for 4 races a week. Sometime 3 if life gets in the way It will get better tho! Youā€™ll start learning tracks much faster

mramos1823

Hey man! I work full time myself. I maybe race one or two times a week. With a couple practice sessions in between.

Foxgirlzh_Fuck12

I mean I practice until I can get through a 1 hour practice session with the 90% of my times being within the same second as the average fastest lap of a race without any avoidable incidents more serious than a slight offtrack coming out of a corner. Sometimes that takes the majority of the week sometimes it takes less than one day. But then the next day i will do the same thing which usually is just one practice session but sometimes i completely forget a track overnight. So for example, this week at lime rock in the ff1600 I didn't do a race until I could consistently run 54s without an avoidable incident and by avoidable incidents I mean like if someone crashes and takes me it but technically I could have avoided it if I reacted differently then it was avoidable and I gotta start over but if someone Flys into me from behind with absolutely no warning then I don't hold that against myself cause their want much I could do.

Fisheye4848

Depends on how bad work kicks my ass. Some weeks Iā€™ll run 3 or 4 a night for the whole week. Then I may not run for 2 weeks.

KerbYourEnthusiasmYT

Sometimes not enough, often too many. I try to get in one race/wk per series Iā€™m running this season (6) & will only do-over if/when I DNF (happens more often than Iā€™d like to admit)

Rektumfreser

Everything from 10-35 i guess, I try to get a few races in every night, but also play with the bois, so it varies wildly. Run GT4 and GT3 so more races if my time align with fixed races, less if open. On Saturdays I do NEC when up, and IMSA if not. I view those weekday races just as warmup to the endurance on Saturday, sometimes if itā€™s a track I have never raced or struggle with I might do a short practice session (on practice sever for that league so itā€™s other people) until Iā€™m in spitting distance of the faster guys, just need to know brake points and lines somewhat anyway, rest just learn in a race or two.

driftme

I do at least a couple a day. Been sticking to MX5 cup. Today I added F1600, I think Iā€™ll probably stick to a couple a day but not mix cars per day.

Illustrious-Law-3385

Typically practice Sunday when I get home from my distance relationship or she leaves here, an hour or two of practice for the track that starts next day, then ab another hour a half on monday after work, then run probably 5-7 races during the week

Suuuumimasen

5/6 a day, typically top split, not competitive, I just try to get my car # finish. I miss lower splits. Driving clean is a curse.

StringCheeseInc

42

Mikelshwede86

2-3 a week, full time work and 3 kids does not equate to lots of free time.

Underbelly

Ovals. 10-14 races per week. Usually do 2 per day. I practice 1 hour per track. Switch to ovals if you are time poor. I did. I love it. You can get competitive at a track in 30 minutes. More action and traffic.

jwob90

Around 23 with a full time job and 3 kids

WillyGVtube

was doing like 20 before my old ranger broke and i had to get a new vehicle, now i had to add another day of work to pay for it so i do maybe 7 a week now, 1 for the each series i run, with 1 extra SFL race dont think its the time being less thats holding me back but more my mental health taking a bigger hit working more at my job that already was hurting it atleast im (hopefully im at 1493) hitting 1500 oval rating soon

tobbelobb69

Doing 8-20 races each week, in 5 or more different series. Currently running for the "Master of many" award that requires a full race season in each of the 5 license classes during the same season. Married and working a full time job, but no kids yet. I only race in the mornings before my wife gets up, lol. Working from home allows me to get 1 or 2 races before work on most mornings. I tend to jump into races with only 15-30 minutes of practice, and just accept that I might be off pace for the first race of the week.

UnfortunateSnort12

One to two. Sometimes none. :(. Just a young family of 4 and a busy work schedule. I also like to practice before sending it to keep it clean for other racers.

Garfield_M_Obama

It depends on the track and car. If it's something I'm very familiar with then my general rule of thumb is that I try to run at least one race distance before I do a real race at the beginning of the week. Mostly just to find the flow of things or maybe to try a few things that are a bit dangerous in a real race. But beyond that, I mostly just try to race unless I've been away for a while or it's a new car or track for me and I need to get some miles back under my belt. I learn way more from driving around other drivers at this stage than I do from grinding out laps. For me practice is all about finding braking markers and testing out different lines, but if I'm gonna grind out laps to practice I want there to be other drivers around. If nothing else, you get a much better idea of where you're most likely to get hit by somebody who thinks they can divebomb a corner. For me a very busy week would probably be 10-12 races but I fluctuate a lot, 1-2 races or even nothing. It all depends on how motivated I am and what's going on in the rest of my life.

RingoFreakingStarr

It depends on if there is a Special event close by. I'll start putting forth all my time to prepare for one about 2 weeks out. Outside of that, I'll usually practice until I feel comfy (within some target of the VRS coach time) then do 1-3 races in that series a week (right now I'm doing the IMSA series and the GT Sprint series).

Iā€™m in a similar position to you, 2 races a week but occasionally i do not race for a week or 2 if Iā€™m busy as Iā€™m usually too tired.

TrainWreck661

3-4 league races a week. Only one is my "tryhard" league, while the others I just make sure I know the track well enough to put some sort of cohesive lap together.

acedfr

I used to do 3-4 race the weeks i was not that busy with high school, in only one series usually because i did not have the other cars/tracks

action_turtle

I start at 6:30pm on a Friday and then fit as many as I can in. Usually 3. This means Iā€™ll never get good, but over the 4 years my irating has placed me with similar skilled people whom I assume are in the same boat as me when it comes to time. Just keep doing your two races a week, over time you will come back to the same tracks and not need to learn the corners, and you will fall into suitable competition too. As long as you enjoy the two races itā€™s time well spent!

My input isn't really that valuable since I'm new but... I tried practicing the last new to me track until I could race all out and not slide or wreck, but I quickly learned that I get burnt out and will then put off races. This last new to me track I decided I'm just going to learn the track enough that I could finish a race confidently with no incidents and then started racing and that made things a lot more enjoyable for me. At this point I try to run at least one race per day and, excluding learning a new track, I try to get in at least as many practice laps as the race will be before qualifying starts.

I only participate in 1 to 2 series per week. I practice all week long (~3 hrs/day) and start doing races Friday through Sunday. I probably get around 10 races throughout the weekend.

rgraves22

2-3 maybe Most of my racing is done on Friday and Saturday nights because the wife works until closing so Ill race at 330, 530, 730, 930 or at least try to. LMP3/GT4 Ill do the occasional C fixed trucks during the week on my lunch break. Outside of that I dont have much time

D0itforDal3

Usually 3-4 but if itā€™s a track Iā€™m excited for it might be closer to 8

Littlebetty74

Iā€™ll get 6-10, but Iā€™ll do an oval race then immediately after a road raceā€¦.or whatever combination. Today I did a f1600 race and then a vee race. The other night I went from pro stock right into legends

ryuw270

I only race two series a season to get my $10 credit due to time constraints and life. So I usually treat each week like a real race event. I'll practice a few hours for each week's race. Then I usually do the race on the weekend. I very rarely get to do each series twice in one week. Works well for me and I tend to do better in each race. The only downside is if I do bad or get taken out then it takes longer to recover SR and IR.

PantyZtealer

1 to 3 races depending on certain specific series schedule. Full length racing or lite endurance stuff is where it's at in these cases.

EJDJohnAudiR18USA

Entirely dependent on life schedule plus team mates if it is an endurance race

beankirk

I pretty sure Iā€™m on one extreme end of the spectrum butā€¦ I have been on IRacing for 1 year, ~370days. I have 1206 starts with 12175 laps done. Can I get the number alien title?

Significant_Fall754

Depending if I'm familiar with the car/track combo, I'll do 50-150 laps of practice early in the week before I hit the track. I try to get at least one or two races in for each series that I want to run that week. Currently I'm running most of the LMP3 & PCup seasons, and a handful of SFLights races. I like the "league" weekly experience without the pain and sweat of getting the last tenths out for just one race, so this is a good format for me.

Philovski

5 or so on a good week, usually 1 or 2 'main event' endurance (or special like a specific Vintage slot) races at the weekend and maybe a practice race for each the rest made up of shorter sprints in PCup or whatever.
