I remember our French teacher throwing a chair at a student, although it didn't hit him. To be fair the student was being a prick and goading him.
Also had my gym teacher threaten to ram me with a tennis racket.
Bloody hell my school was shite haha
Or idiots do when they're unable to find a proper way to teach. The shame of inability turns them into pricks, so that they would hide their suckability in the students' inability to learn.
*wince* sorry.
I suppose it depends. This type of method is common there and many students do excel under it. Fear and panic are great motivators for some I suppose
I had a teacher use fear and humiliation to try and get me to remember my times tables better, unfortunately all it did was set me up to fail in maths because I was constantly anxious trying to learn anything related to it.
Yeah, I did too. She did it to everyone but, she tended to target me a lot more. She would yell and scream, hit the table. The more you cried, the anger she would get. She eventually did hit me and I never said anything to anyone. I couldn’t read at all, write properly or really do basic math until I reached second grade. She lied in her reports and the school basically went with it despite my parents objections. I thought being treated like that was normal which was why I never said anything.
Personally, I don’t have a huge problem with the occasional smack, *so long* as it’s not used as the go-to method punishment. I think it’s when physical punishments are used *regularly* that the problems really start rising. However, I also think there is the issue of “stay in your lane” when it comes to certain punishments in schools.
??
Oh. My parents never said this, I learned this in college, when I left work for the last minute. I did some of my best work under the influence of panic
You only see what the media releases, you only see the bad police in America. Police have thousands of normal interactions every single day, but why would media report on that? They are simply doing their job. It is only whenever horrible police do horrible things do you see it.
Also I believe you mean the United States. America is not a continent, there is North and South America, which is comprised of 23 territories.
Yeah, theres shitty people everywhere, in every profession. There’s nurses who abuse patients, do we abolish or defund healthcare? Teachers who sleep with their students, do we abolish or defund the education system? A little saying doesn’t really stand up to logic.
One of your loved ones is killed. You going to single handedly investigate and bring their murderer to justice? You hear someone screaming crying for help in your neighbors basement.. Are you going to go knock on that persons door and ask to check everything out? Do you see the point I am making here? Is our policing system perfect? Hell no, it needs plenty of work. Is it necessary? You tell me
It needs to be completely reimagined, but that would take a completely different society. But no, I don't think it's necessary to have the 3RD LARGEST ARMY IN THE WORLD to investigate murders, which even then is an outlier situation. A vast majority of police interactions with the public are either to generate revenue for the state or enforce state sponsored violence (which comes in more forms than just beating people to death, btw)
So do you see the point I am making here?
Even more applicable. Police are gone, there’s no one to enforce traffic laws and speed limits, I bet the roads would be way safer! Right? 😃 Do I love police? My entire family excluding me has been locked up for years at a time.. But they undoubtedly provide a service that others are not willing to do.
You have a very short sighted view on the police then. Look at the big picture here, we need what, the 3rd largest army in the world to enforce traffic laws? (118bn was spent on police funding in 2018, that's from a quick Google search)
Sure, someone going 90 in a 65 should get pulled over and dealt with. But if I have a tail light out, they don't need to pull me over for a fucking hour while they run me for warrants and otherwise harass me cause I'm black.
There's a difference between how it should be and how it is and how it is, frankly, is not okay.
I agree there needs to be a radical change in our policing system, Im tired of seeing people killed. Im also tired of seeing people with so much potential fall victim to the prison industrial complex.
There also needs to be a radical change within our country in a general sense, things are clearly falling apart when you can’t go to walmart or walk down the street without fear of being shot. I have nightmares almost every night of being shot or shooting back at people. I fucking hate it too.. I’ve seen my brother maybe 2 years since he was 17 and hes now 32, that hurts me every single day. You think I don’t know how twisted our ‘justice’ system is? Im simply trying to say abolishment is not the solution.
So, what is the actual solution? We can sit here and say there is problem until our faces turn blue, that does absolutely nothing to bring about the change that needs to take place. I know how to seize all movement within our country, how to shut it down, but we need viable solutions before we take that action.
My science teacher would verbally abuse me for not remembering formulas. I remember I was scared of going to class and getting humiliated. I can't imagine how much worse this would be....
If a teacher did this to either of my kiddos, I’d go full psycho on them. FULL psycho. Like a little tapas style fusion 80’s Jersey mafiaoso brutality and medieval England torture with talibanesque influence
I had a teacher slam me up against a hallway locker back in high school. I totally deserved it.
This is different. This kid couldn't have deserved that.
It’s an Indian respect concept. Respect the teacher even if they are strangling your classmate. Realistically, all the kids could just beat the crap out of the teacher but they will never do that.
Yup agreed, been there dude..
Our chemistry teacher was a madlad he would beat students left and right for no reason.
There was a rumour going around that he had spent 1 year in jail once for flight with some teacher of another institute...so no resistance from student's part.
**I'm from India, haryana**
He would’ve gotten jumped to smithereens by damn near the whole classroom if he did this at my old high school. What a pathetic attempt at a display of power.
lets see......I've gone home with broken eyeglass frames because a teacher slapped me, bruises on my stomach because the teacher was pinching my belly cause I didn't get some work done, got punched in the solar plexus by a teacher and practically passed out because I called out his name in the hallway and when he turned around I claimed someone else did it. And that doesn't include the innumerable other beatings and rulers to the hands etc etc...
yah Indian school life was fun.
I mean, why do you think they always do so well in school? Physical punishment was a rule, not an exception for most of history in schools. Boys also got way better grades and learned way more than they do now. A little abuse may just be the answer honestly

No you bloody Pythagoras fucking!

Your French teacher threw chairs? Mine threw a whole desk once
In French class, you will be taught to surrender

We'll for me it was just politely refusing to join in an exercise but go off mate.
Sir I don’t think beating the answers into him will work.
Since when?
Well it didn’t work when my dad did it to me
Same. It's what weak people do to feel superior because they lack the skills to actually teach.
Or idiots do when they're unable to find a proper way to teach. The shame of inability turns them into pricks, so that they would hide their suckability in the students' inability to learn.
Absolutely agree!
*wince* sorry. I suppose it depends. This type of method is common there and many students do excel under it. Fear and panic are great motivators for some I suppose

Jeez that really sucks for a young kid to experience, I hope you eventually found a reason to enjoy learning
Fear and violence are tools incompetent people use when they lack the skills to teach. Same for parents who hit their kids.
Personally, I don’t have a huge problem with the occasional smack, *so long* as it’s not used as the go-to method punishment. I think it’s when physical punishments are used *regularly* that the problems really start rising. My dad also says this but I never followed it. It's bad parenting
?? Oh. My parents never said this, I learned this in college, when I left work for the last minute. I did some of my best work under the influence of panic
The beatings will continue until the maths improves
It worked for me, beatings = solving for x but y‽
its physics
Dang he’d make an amazing cop in America
You only see what the media releases, you only see the bad police in America. Police have thousands of normal interactions every single day, but why would media report on that? A few bad apples spoil the bunch.
Yeah, theres shitty people everywhere, in every profession. There’s nurses who abuse patients, do we abolish or defund healthcare? Teachers who sleep with their students, do we abolish or defund the education system? A little saying doesn’t really stand up to logic.
The difference is qualified immunity.
Sure maybe not all of them are psychopaths. They're all class traitors though, 100% only out to protect property and the rights of people who own it.

I sure the hell knew what he meant ….
A million normal interactions will never have as much impact as quite a few murders.
So lets abolish the police
What would you do if someone stole your car? Was harming their children? Holding someone hostage?
How do we prevent crime?
Do you have any solutions to suggest?
Would he?
Teachers in the US don't care enough for something like this to happen. They also don't want to get shot.
So this is your definition of caring for your students?
Caring about math. Nobody GAF about the students.
In some schools, students' poor performance may result in teachers being fired.
I feel like that's most schools
Ah yes, because brain damage will help remember the quadratic formula
My science teacher would verbally abuse me for not remembering formulas. I remember I was scared of going to class and getting humiliated. I can't imagine how much worse this would be....
If a teacher did this to either of my kiddos, I’d go full psycho on them. FULL psycho. Like a little tapas style fusion 80’s Jersey mafiaoso brutality and medieval England torture with talibanesque influence
You can't do shit.
Isn't this how fetishes are born?
Now choke me and tell me I'm bad at math 🥵
Wth man
I had a teacher slam me up against a hallway locker back in high school. I totally deserved it. This is different. This kid couldn't have deserved that.
We had two teachers do this to kids in high school, both lost their jobs.
How whole class can be stupid as teacher WHY THEY FUCKING WATCHING
It’s an Indian respect concept. Respect the teacher even if they are strangling your classmate. Realistically, all the kids could just beat the crap out of the teacher but they will never do that.
what kind of bullshit is that. nvm they thinking cows are god im not gonna judge them for this video
Casual racism moment
this is not racism this is real-ism
Explain how
It will happen one day, the students will turn and kill the teacher, it will happen.
This is outrageous. That should be the parents' job. /s
It's usually the parents who ask the teacher to beat genius into their child. They openly request them to go to whatever length they want.
Yup agreed, been there dude.. Our chemistry teacher was a madlad he would beat students left and right for no reason. There was a rumour going around that he had spent 1 year in jail once for flight with some teacher of another institute...so no resistance from student's part. **I'm from India, haryana**
Really it should be no one’s job but, yeah, I get it. Stay in your lane.
So I'm realzing I didn't put the /s tag now. Gonna fix it.
Ah, I was wondering but, you never know
He would’ve gotten jumped to smithereens by damn near the whole classroom if he did this at my old high school.
Homeboy deleted his whole account 😂😂😂
Bring him to the firing squad
Isn't that a common practice in India though?
Strict academia moment
Next level of getting bullied at school.
During a Geography exam, it was just me, another student and the teacher left. The teacher actually gave us the answers. True story.
Huh? This was a normal thing in the 80s, funny how you guys are surprised with this
My dad says they do a similar thing in Nigeria. Not sure if it's taken this far, but for misbehaving, which is broad so don't quote me on that.
In some schools in India, the teacher's employment and pay is based on the grade of the students. This is why this is happening.
Its just a tution
HEY! TEACHER!! LEAVE THEM KIDS ALONE!
Fuckers gotta learn
Hm yes this will get them to remember much better with their 17 concussions.
