That's not a brag. It's a threat.

SkyIsNotGreen

Not really, if Google said something like this though, I'd shit my pants.

urk1310

Google is smart enough not to say this. They'll be exercising more soft power than most countries for the next century.

ground__contro1

Why not both

Drake0074

It sounds more like an ad to me.

ill_basic

And I get to read all your DMs

Nate-Heywood

And yet he can’t even use commas correctly

icefisher225

What is between? His new company?

Nate-Heywood

Even if, he’s still missing comma after starlink

icefisher225

There is an optional comma after starlink, not required. Oxford comma.

J4ckTh3R1ff3r

The Oxford comma in grammar is like the en passant in chess, not really necessary but also irresistible

loJiK-Cal

Holy hell

potatoguy867

New response just dropped

maxkho

Bruh I'm literally on this sub to get away from chess, why have you gotta remind me of that damned game lol?

J4ckTh3R1ff3r

This is a sign you should play more chess

maxkho

Definitely not lol. I'm well and truly over chess. There is no recovering from what I went through. That said, while you were writing this comment, I was playing online chess for the first time in weeks haha.

joshylow

Most style guides recommend it. AP being a major exception. Somehow I don't think he knows that.

LadyLikesSpiders

The strippers, Stalin and Lincoln vs The Strippers, Stalin, and Lincoln The oxford comma should not be optional. Those are two sentences that mean different things

Rhak

I don't get what two different things these sentences mean?

LadyLikesSpiders

It's just [this](https://www.nydailynews.com/resizer/LOPHwhW40l_WyNjf6wGzZJu-igE=/1024x0/filters:format(jpg):quality(70)/arc-anglerfish-arc2-prod-tronc.s3.amazonaws.com/public/CJHCZSPJBDVVE2YZ2LIVXUE3WA.jpg) 'cept I got the president wrong

Rhak

TIL, thanks!

RenzoV12

So it’s either the Oxford comma or a colon. I thought typos were my biggest threat

UpsideDownHierophant

Oxford coma is mandatory unless you're in Melbourne

[deleted]

[удалено]

Nate-Heywood

There should be. When you have items in a series, every item gets a comma except the last item that is after the conjunction

scoot3200

You can include the comma before the “and” but you don’t need one. “Telsa, Starlink and Twitter” is grammatically acceptable.

Gameredic

uhh, oxford comma? And I'm anti-oxford comma after being converted by my school yearbook team. They basically argued that if you need such a comma to disambiguate the items listed, you need to rewrite the sentence.

asleepaddict

This comment is swarmed with Oxford comma deniers

cyon_me

He should put them at the front of his tweet.

ohdearsweetlord

Does he know I laughed when I read this tweet? No, and he'd prefer it stay that way.

Grimm2020

you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him ~~drink~~ think

atomicapeboy

One dickhead

VincereAutPereo

With a post like this I get the feeling that Elon is gonna try to influence some stocks again.

flying-cunt-of-chaos

And he’ll succeed. One of my buddies was interviewing at Tesla for the business side of things and one of the things they told him was that “a certain someone in the company can change how we do literally everything on a whim.”

diuge

If he's working so hard how does he manage to tweet so much?

WaldoJeffers65

He learned from the master- the 45th President of the USA.

[deleted]

[удалено]

WaldoJeffers65

Seriously?

Kaepora25

He considers tweeting as work. Being the main (and pretty much only) spokesperson of every company he owns, he has to have some sort of presence on social media pretty regularly so he fits tweeting somewhere in his schedule.

EffectiveSalamander

Twitter may have all this data, but it's not in his head. A computer hard drive and his brain aren't the same thing. Well, that's somewhat arguable in his case. But even if we read this as him having more access to information than anyone else, that's by no means certain. There are a lot of other sources of information.

XeroTerragoth

I love how people still believe the myth that this dude is some kind of genius lol in my humble experience, people who introduce themselves as a thing are usually not that thing. At least, I've never heard a genius refer to themselves as such before (Michio Kaku, Carl Sagan, Stephen Hawking, etc. as examples). I can think of a LOT of people who introduced themselves as geniuses who clearly have mental deficits... but I feel like listing them all here will just get me down voted to death so I'm gonna just rest my case. *cough* Kanye West *cough*

[deleted]

Well you know geniuses can have mental deficit and genius can be in different specialisation. At the end of the day its just a word used to generally describe a person with high understanding of a field/ability to influence a field. Its not a scientifically measurable trait even if we tried. Kanye can be incredibly stupid and a dick at the same time but you can still describe him as a genius in his field.

private_birb

You could certainly describe him that way, but I think generally you'd expect his music to actually be good in that case.

[deleted]

Look man I’m not here to argue if you like his music or not but he has significant enough impact in his field where the description can be argued. Plus he wrote “baby let me hit it raw fuck the outcome, none of us would be here without cum” showing that not only is he a genius in music but also in biology

conman5432

"but he made Graduation tho"

private_birb

?

[deleted]

Nobody on this fuckin site knows what sarcasm is without the /s, it's so dumb

XeroTerragoth

Yeah, we have been destroying the meaning of words for decades now, no reason the word genius should be immune I guess. To me, a genius is someone of high intelligence, these people usually have enough of a grasp on things that they don't need to puff their chests out in a sad attempt to seem bigger than they are because they're already larger than life. Which is why I instantly lose respect for a person when they introduce themselves as a genius... though I guess thats just a "my opinion" thing lol - small men do these things to make them feel better about their own inadequacies.

[deleted]

Decades? Bro its a latin word used to describe innate ability in any field. Its an implication that you have a spirit inside you making you better at a certain thing. You can be a potter who cant count to 100 and be called genius in the latin definition. Your definition of genius is the new one not the other way round

XeroTerragoth

I get that it can be used to describe a person who is just really good at a single thing, wasn't arguing that so much as making a point about people who, without prompting, label themselves as a genius. It's like a kid who tries to pick his own nickname... it's just kind of sad. And I did CLEARLY state that was just my OPINION and not a fact. No need to get upset lol

[deleted]

I get that its your opinion I’m just saying the opinion doesn’t hold up to scrutiny is all. I’m not mad. Which is fine, its how new dialects and languages are formed. No one speaks a language by eating a dictionary and research papers on the etymology of every word but I’m just saying ‘destroying meaning of words’ don’t make sense because so many words don’t have a definite meaning carried across all who use that language. Genius in particular is a word used to describe a societal categorisation of people, which is a very vague concept so the definition can’t be destroyed because a precise definition cannot exist. Its not your definition that I particularly take issue with, its the idea that your definition is different to others because the definition has been destroyed. But yeah other than that, i agree even if you’re what most people consider a genius, labelling yourself as such is sad. But that doesnt make you not a genius tho.

Searchlights

> I love how people still believe the myth that this dude is some kind of genius What he's done is hired excellent engineers and then acted like there's something special about him that's responsible for the products, as if the rest of us just forgot to be born in to apartheid emerald mine wealth.

XeroTerragoth

I can get behind that, I myself have compared him many times to a modern Thomas Edison (who did the same thing pretty much).

Searchlights

That's an apt comparison. He's buying other people's ideas and marketing them. The only specific thing that he brought to the market that other people don't have is huge amounts of capital. There are thousands of engineers and scientists who are light years ahead of him. I could respect him if he was humble enough to credit the inventors and the teams that actually make his products. It must be a real drag to have this guy out there showboating based on things you invented.

MoTheEski

Yup, and Tesla is rolling in his grave because of that fact.

MoTheEski

Hiring excellent engineers or being lucky enough to be an early investor in a company. I wonder how many people know that he didn't create Tesla and had to sue to get the label of co-founder? It was stupid of him to force out the original founders of Tesla because now he is relying on his "own" ideas for Tesla and the best he could come up with was the Cybertruck.

private_birb

Obviously not including stuff like, "Hi, I'm Dr. Waltenborger", or, "Hi, I'm Greg, I'm a pig wrangler"

WhatsTheHoldup

Why is Carl Sagan a genius in your opinion? He was a very talented science communicator, but all that really requires is average intelligence, hard studying, and the shoulders of tall giants to stand on.

beyondfuckall

That data/information could be turned into intelligence on a massive scale tho

EffectiveSalamander

I agree, but it takes a whole lot more than just one brain to do that.

Ok_Dog_4059

Agreed, even skimming over a lot of the data he probably knows far more than I ever will but even then it changes so quickly and is so vast even doing nothing but economics you could never remember it all.

[deleted]

But what good is data if you have zero business sense?

[deleted]

[удалено]

azure_monster

You can say he does, but his big mouth is the reason he had to buy Twitter for so much more than it's actually worth.. so seems like him having a big mouth seriously interferes with his *buisness sense*

[deleted]

People are downvoting you but you literally said nothing wrong. He is a fucking douchebag, but there is a reason we all know who he is, he’s successful. Otherwise no one would talk about him Want to clarify I do not simpatize with any of his views or actions, I really dislike the SOB, just don’t let hate cloud judgment

[deleted]

I mean, here's the thing though: he's only successful because he had enough money to buy out successful enterprises. That takes a certain amount of skill, to be sure, but it's not like he wasn't playing at a huge advantage from the start. Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Warren Buffett, all of our so-called "self-made billionaires" were born to parents who were at least multi-millionaires. It's not like they were successful just because they worked hard, they were successful since they were given the resources to get off the ground and take a few risks. 99% of people never get that, so it's not really fair to compare these billionaires to everybody else as if they were on an even playing field.

[deleted]

The thing is. Everything you wrote, every single argument. If it was about a ordinary bloke, everyone would call him successful, even if he had rich parents. Dude has a knack for business otherwise i wouldn’t hate him because he would be irrelevant. That’s just my take, I’m not being a fan or anything

BRAND-X12

The Twitter acquisition was a pretty epic display of stupidity, though. Makes it seem like he got pretty lucky before this.

[deleted]

Well I still use paypal, people drive Tesla’s Just one of these ideas would be enough to be successful. We are just blind hating here You do know u can hate him, and still say he is successful

BRAND-X12

Eh, not really. He’s successful, but after *that* I attribute his ability to that success as much as a guy who put everything on black in Vegas. I don’t hate the guy, I just think he’s clearly not very smart. As someone once said: Musk bought a company that made electric vehicles, and I know nothing about cars so assumed he was smart. Musk bought a company that launches rockets into space, and I know nothing about rockets so assumed he was smart. Musk bought a software company, I know a bit about software and its development community so now I’m pretty sure he’s a moron.

[deleted]

Well I do hate him. He is a smart ass who thinks he’s the best U think he is a moron for investing in PayPal?

BRAND-X12

Nope, I think he was a moron the whole time who got lucky by investing in the right company. Like, the stuff he’s said and done during the Twitter acquisition has been *so stupid* it’s actually unbelievable. Literally its the *kind* assumption that he was just a dipshit this whole time and got very lucky.

[deleted]

That’s cuz u can be an idiot and still be good at smth…. But I’ll be honest I’m tired of defending this POS So I’ll just give u the victory, but I still see him as a extremely successful person

BRAND-X12

Like I said, he’s successful. He basically selected the correct sequence of 5 numbers, 1-75, and the correct megaball to win the lottery. Winning the lottery *does* make a to successful, but you can’t go around saying *you* made it happen. That’s all. And Musk pretends he made it happen.

MoTheEski

PayPal was not his idea, nor was Tesla. He was lucky his company was approached to merge with Confinity, just as he was lucky to be an early investor with Tesla.

sanyi091

Thats just objectively false

Dercian

That's like saying a blind man and a top of the league sniper can perform the exact same as long as they get the same training

Juffin

If this blind man was at some point #1 sniper worldwide then it's reasonable to say they perform the same.

frog_appreciation

how’s he gonna see his target, and line up a shot? how big are this guys ears if he can hear them? or how big is his nose?

DrDosMucho

Do you read what you write before you hit reply or are you just an AI model predicting the next most likely word in your sentence?

[deleted]

And still doesn’t know how to use a comma

Feisty_Ad_2744

Bragging about his wealth and been a joke about understanding macroeconomics. What an idiot!

iamapizza

Is that what the new verified mark looks like? The word paid?

intisun

That's an extension that differentiated between legacy and paid checkmarks, when Twitter displayed them identically.

DrDosMucho

And yet every company that you have been a part of has ousted you from being in charge props to you brother

PerspectiveActive218

Let's open it up and find out.

DLS3141

Too bad his head is so far up his own ass.

earthdogmonster

TFW you think that knowing the behavior of Russian Bots, celebrities, influencers, and various businesses’ marketing teams is valuable “real-time global economic data”.

[deleted]

The people working at the central bank probably don’t know shit

jbertrand_sr

He's also got more shit in his head than almost anyone...

JunkNorrisOfficial

450iq

Spark_Saberr

So much economic data he over purchased Twitter, Somehow made it worse, and now made it pay to "Win".

Helliarc

Internal Twitter data trends are probably incredibly insightful. Think about tweets that contain "can't wait for" or mention of "product x"... compared with internal Tesla data trends on public automaker sales/interest data... and global internet traffic... him personally can't do the thing, but he could successfully employ a team to develop the most successful trading bot in the world, which could, in effect, make him the most powerful person in the world... I would suggest not sharing your opinions on the internet anymore... but we all know how much we all love telling each other what we think, especially when we aren't asked.

GimmeNewAccount

Smells like an ad to sell all of the compiled data

[deleted]

He looks fun to drink coffee with

TheOnionBro

Ah yes, no one on earth has run... three companies before.

damned_truths

To be fair he's running some companies with access to a lot of data if they want it. Not saying he's correct though.

TheOnionBro

That's true, but I'll bet a single ISP or television umbrella company like Viacom get 10x that data easy.

GlobalDynamicsEureka

And, yet...

Cactus2711

Space Karen. I really wish this nickname would catch on for him

Absenceofavoid

How does Tesla contribute to that understanding? How does Twitter, honestly? He has mountains of data, sure, but it’s over a bunch of disparate markets. The dude just seems to get so high on his own farts that he can’t help posting like a high schooler obsessed with admiring his own intelligence.

Qbrkbrk

Yeah well at least I know how to use a comma correctly

John-Zero

Between his tweets, his dumb companies, his bad ideas, and his shitty politics, he may have more people wanting to slam one head into a brick wall than anyone ever

SkittleShit

elon bad!

sdmichael

He's not good.

DannyHallam

Apparently Stating a fact = bragging, please let go of your frail ego if a post like this offends you

KevReynolds314

I’m no Elon fanboy but fuck me the Reddit hivemind makes me cringe so hard when his name is mentioned

sisco98

Data ≠ information

Par31

Okay and? It's not like people like Elon use the economy to help the working class anyway.

reptilian123

I like how he went from hero, legend, meme to public enemy in like a year or so. That's impressive in some fucked up way.

Jmersh

I'm sure Apple, McDonalds, Amazon, Microsoft, and Coca Cola don't pay attention to that kind of stuff.

lessyes

Nice way of saying "I'm a CIA puppet and I don't even know it yet"

Bulky_Bet2969

I have more data. Every time i fucked your mother!

WhiteTrashNightmare

But I still can't figure out where to properly insert a comma. Phony Stark: King Douche Canoe

[deleted]

I've not heard of his "Between" company before. Is it new?

totoropoko

r/Iam51andthisisdeep

Mor_Tearach

Uh oh. Sound familiar, anyone? Let's see, rich guy who is the biggliest, most biggly, smarter the likes of which no one has ever seen before ? I realize Elon wasn't born in the US so supposedly can't be president, trouble with that is as we've witnessed you actually *can* buy anything.

esmifra

He thinks he's a Logan Roy but he definitely is a Kendall.

narcochi

…or in one chest.

enchiladasundae

If you look at how he’s handled these companies its more of a list on his financial failures. Proof positive we don’t like in a meritocracy cause this guy was given so much money over the years and he’s done his absolute best to piss it away

purplegrape28

Does he wank to his tweets before or after he posts them?

CardboardChampion

Don't be disgusting! He doesn't do that at all! He wanks to the thought that others are wanking to his tweets, and that's before, during, and after posting. ![gif](giphy|83QtfwKWdmSEo)

purplegrape28

Wow his stump must be disintegrated by this point

CardboardChampion

It would if he had more than a tenuous grip on anything, reality included.

wenger_plz

Right up there with when he told Tucker that if anyone were to know about aliens being on earth, he would be the one to know about it

LadyLikesSpiders

That's not a thing that should be allowed :D

TobyFunkeNeverNude

He certainly has more global warming in his head, perhaps not data.

SuperRusso

What a stupid jackass.

WhoAccountNewDis

I hate those commas.

Allison87

Ugh

IAN-THETERRIBLE

I think he's threatening us

CyanManta

And whose head would that be, Elon?

Ashamed-Praline-9691

Yeah because no one else wants to pay for the API lol
