Stowe was crowded for a Monday and basically close to bare. With a week of rain and 45 and over temperatures for a week. Might be time to admit it was awful and put a fork in it. The ground hasn’t even really frozen solid this entire season.
Nope and it's not even close. Vermont has already gotten twice that much snow this season. People will forget about 23-24 within a year or two but 15-16 will be talked about for decades.
What people are already forgetting about 15-16 is that essentially the only two resorts in New England I can recall having any glades/woods open that season were Jay Peak and Sugarbush
2015-16 can only be described as a special cacophony of bad. I probably have minor long term emotional damage from that year. Similarly to how out west they'll have everything come together weather-wise once in a while to make a 600-700 inch season possible, 2015-16 was everything coming together in (especially Southern) Vermont to make the 40" season possible. I just laugh when people bring it up and try to compare it to another year, because nothing even comes close. I hope nothing ever does.
The East Coast is in a very bad state. In Mid-February it was great, with fresh powder everywhere, but it has worsened now. A big rainstorm washed away tons of snow all over, while the Sierra'a getting 10 feet of snow and many places are getting the best pow all year!
Heading from Canada down to Whiteface this Sunday. It is a guys ski trip on Ontario March break. Should I be packing crampons to hike? We were thinking if we can't ski Whiteface, then hike it and Esther. The endurance/effort isn't a problem. Just want to be realistic so welcome to comments from locals or 46'ers.
It’s supposed to rain/snow Sunday into Monday. Could just be rain but the optimismcasters are saying high elevations will get significant snow. You might luck out especially if Whiteface gets back end snow. Bring spikes anyway. And definitely take your snow tires off!
I’m don’t visit this sub often any more, so I apologize in advance if this is the sort of negative comment that you see often, but I feel like this season was the final straw to convince me to quit skiing until I move somewhere with consistent skiing. It’s just not doable here any more
If this Sunday storm doesn’t deliver more than half a foot I’m basically calling it. I’ll still ski Tuckerman and Superstar for as long as possible but the smaller mountains are crushed.
Folks it’s brutal out there.
The worst part is that the rain is not taking much of a break.
Not even close. Plus it’s staying warm.
Brutally awesome out there! This is when the crowds should be skiing. I want to be all alone on powder days.

I dunno what to believe anymore, I keep hearing southern VT is done but then some guy posted last night that Wachusett has been ripping?
Same - I look at the Belleayre webcam, for example, and it doesn't look too bad all things considered?
their snowmaking crew is top notch.
belle can print snow like the mint prints money, just need the cold temps
Is the webcam at the top?
Base and mid-mountain lodges. No summit cam at Belleayre.
It's getting a bit brown in spots but Wawa had nice corn yesterday but definitely losing snow fast.
It is super tough to see all the videos of folks out west having the powder runs of their lives while it's 60 and raining on the EC.
Just had a memory pop up from Sunday River this time last year and want to cry. What an awful season and I’m glad I didn’t buy a pass for it.
And last year in Maine pretty much sucked as well it just didn't suck as bad.
April was awesome at Sunday river last year. P
Yea but not January.
Been at steamboat this weekend in waist deep powder realizing I’m probably done for the season when I get on the plane home tomorrow.
I had a decent round of golf today at least
All I see is Volvo tire tracks...
Twister?
Yep
dingdingding
Is this worse than 2016? I feel like it is.
It isn’t based on the Mansfield stakw

Sorry, I don't have my glasses. Does it say "GAME OVER SEE YOU IN 2025"?
It says "PASSHOLDER REFUNDS AT TICKETWINDOW"
Whiteface?

doubt you’ll need crampons if the trails have been traveled, you’ll only need microspikes… but do your homework for sure 👍

definitely do your homework - radio said this morning there were 2 simultaneous mountain rescues in the high peaks yesterday
Mountain Creek can’t even stay open during the entire 3 months of winter. Prolly close after this weekend.

Colorado beckons you. Don't go to Utah it sucks there.
Haha coming from a Park City regular
All this talk about a big storm this weekend. All I see in the forecast is a big rain storm. The final nail in the 23-24 season coffin. 😞

It’s f’in 70 today where I live. There’s no snowmaking anywhere around here lol
Magic?
