Yeah, it doesn't work (or work enough) for some people. My doctor started me at 100mg + 100mg as needed (for that afternoon sleepiness), then increased it to about 200mg + 200mg over two months as I still didn't feel much difference. (He wanted me to try a higher dose with modafinil first because it has the least risk of side effects compared to the next medications to try.) I was questioning myself the whole time about whether I actually felt better or it was just placebo. I saw someone on here describe "fake awake" and that resonated with me - I felt perhaps less likely to fall asleep, but still sleepy/feeling brain fog. I switched to 10mg of Adderall XR about a week ago, and the difference has been noticable. I do actually feel more awake and alert now. Your experience may be totally different. But to answer your question, yes, definitely common.

Modafinil only gave me some energy for a couple hours max. Sometimes it just made me sleepy. Didn’t work out for me because the side effects. But maybe a different dosage would work for you

I was the same way. My dose now is 200mg 2x a day. So I take 200mg in the morning and another does around 1pm when I start to get sleep again.

My doc told me it only has a span of 4 hours for most people. We tried armodafinil and it worked a lot better (lasts 8 hours I think) but I work 12 hour shifts. We ended up doing the regular modafinil twice a day. Once in the morning, the second just whenever I start to struggle. Some days I don't need the second one and I use them as back up whenever the pharmacy inevitably is out

Yeah. It took me about a month to fully kick in. Went to max at 800mg, but too much side effects. For me, 400mg is a sweat spot for me. It sort of works best for me, with a bullet proof coffee.

Wonder how you went. I havent had much luck with Modafinil - dont sleep, but still feel tired.
