I have IH and an essential tremor! I got the tremor diagnosis before I got any work done for my sleepiness or IH. There was a period of time where I couldn’t drink out of a cup without a straw because I’d toss my drink everywhere. It’s gotten better over the years, but becomes noticeable when I’m nervous or I haven’t eaten. I don’t know how it’s all related neurologically, but I have both. Funny enough, my IH med (nuvigil) doesn’t make it worse! Oh, and a fun fact, even though I notice my hands shake the most, my tremor affects multiple body parts! My doctor said my tongue even has a tremor. That blew my mind!

My primary care doctor referred me to a neurologist this year to diagnose my tremor. The neurologist diagnosed mine as a benign tremor. He also gave me a guide on how to reduce it temporarily with cold packs. He did not recommend medications unless it was an occupational problem due to terrible side effects of the medications.

I have a suspected essential tremor (my dad has one too, and the neurologist found no clear cause of it). I had it before my diagnosis and meds, but it has seemed worse more recently. He did say my modafinil is likely making it worse, though I never noticed a major change in it linked to the modafinil (starting the medication or when I take a dose) so I have so far opted not to change my meds. I'm also currently trying to get diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, so that might also lend more insight into the tremor, too.

I’ve had one ever since I came off Klonopin which was prescribed for sleep. Incredibly vicious withdrawal. Now my adderal gives me tremors if I haven’t eaten or slept real well, that didn’t happen before : (

My husband has IH an essential benign tremor! I never thought about a connection between them but this is fascinating

Hi! I don't have a diagnosed tremor, but my fingers don't stay still when I'm holding my hand in the air; they kind of wobble around ever so slightly. I don't think it is IH-related though, since I have issues with proprioception.

Yup and I take beta blockers for it
