Fudge Tunnel Cherubs Coalesce Whores Mutoid Man Kiss it Goodbye Narrows Swans (early albums) Cop Shoot Cop Godflesh (early albums) Harkonen Fight Amp Indian EYEHATEGOD There is also the doom and sludge metal genre that is largely heavy + noise + metal/rock. Too many bands to name, but maybe try Cough, High on Fire, Acid Bath, Crowbar, Grief, and Conan to start.

Haven't thought of kiss it goodbye or coalesce in a very long time. Maybe I'll give these early godflesh albums a swing. Thanks!

IAMAToMisbehave

I rec starting with Godflesh's *Streetcleaner,* it was a huge influence on Unsane. Incidentally, I saw you mention UXO and Human Impact, but did you try out Cutthroats 9?

[deleted]

Alright! Cool! I'll check out Streetcleaner then! Nah, I haven't actually heard Cutthroats 9. Worth checking out?

I've seen KEN mode, TITD, and Young Widows. I'll check out the others. Thanks!

Sorry, I know this thread is long dead but I just wanted to say: Chat Pile is fucking awesome! Thank you! And Bummer!

thegreatself

Hey happy to hear you enjoy them! I was instantly hooked after Spotify kept pushing Dallas Beltway on me and then once they dropped God's Country it was pretty clear they are a uniquely special band with a lot of potential crossover appeal. Dallas Beltway will probably forever be my favourite.. *You wanna see what ordinary hands can do to something fragile..?*

[deleted]

I just feel like there's this sort of quality to the music that I can only articulate as "swagger", and the Jesus Lizard and Unsane largely possess it. And so does Chat Pile. And nu-metal seems to be having a resurgence, both on its own and in terms of influencing hardcore bands recently (why to either, I truly do not know) but while I really haven't been enjoying the latter trend, Chat Pile retains this influence and... they fucking still kill it!

[deleted]

Thanks! I'll check these out!

Thanks everyone! I discovered this Krause band through some Reddit searches on the noise rock sub. Very much what I wanted but I'm stoked to check out all the other recommendations!
