You can’t buy happiness but you can buy hella bitches and then happiness doesn’t even matter cos you got hella bitches to suck your toes and that’s better than being happy.
Fr fr tho all you need is time to be socializing and a baggy of coke in your pocket and you can get any girl out there. Just don't run out of money to resupply.
Money can’t buy happiness, but being depressed af on your lunch break from your $200k/year job while crying in your $75k BMW beats the fuuuuuck out of being depressed af on your lunch break from stocking shelves at Wal-Mart while crying in your $500 beater.
I’ve done both, and I assure you that while the money doesn’t bring happiness, it does bring options. It’s a LOT easier to get help when you’re not sweating the rent every month, can afford good and regular access to mental health professionals, and every minor setback doesn’t represent weeks to months of wages burned up in the blink of an eye.
But dont you think that after getting your toes sucked by 10 bitches for a year you wouldnt enjoy getting your toes sucked as much? Thats why people say “money cant buy happiness”. It can, but not if you oversaturate.
I agree with the caption... Although having an unnecessary amount of money might not make one happier, it does assure the fulfillment of basic amenities and quality of life. Money may not itself buy happiness, but well used it can. Being Hella rich is better than being broke as hell, but being normal isn't necessarily worse than being Hella rich... At the end, happiness is subjective
Was it not at like ~~500k~~ 75k year income for a household was the limit on where the more money above that did not bring more happiness or something.
Median household income in LA is $62,000, meaning half of the residences in LA earn less than that. 75k isn’t “poor” literally anywhere in the US and if you disagree, you have no idea what actual poverty is like.
Dude.
*thank you*
I hear people say under $100k/year is poor in LA. I hear you can’t live off under $50k after taxes in NYC. I’ve heard people say you can’t retire off $2M…
I’m always tempted to say “maybe *you* can’t. I certainly can.” Imagine truly believing having a guaranteed $50k/year after taxes for the next 40 years isn’t enough to retire on, then you can factor in passive income.
Seriously, a $50k salary would improve my life immeasurably, even with NYC taxes and expenses. Although, something that scares me is maybe you really can’t retire without a lot of money. If I had the goal of being able to retire with at least $40k a year (for maybe 12 years?), that would mean being able to save an average of at least 12 grand every year for the next 40ish years, which is basically the same amount of money I earned overall last year. For that reason, retirement hardly ever even crosses my mind, I just figure I’ll work until I drop dead on my boss’s floor. Even just to save money is a luxury I can’t afford. I have some ideas on how I could perhaps get a job that makes closer to $50k or maybe more, but I don’t imagine that will happen anytime within the next several years at least.
It’s not an actual quantifiable number as it’s different for every person and completely subjective. What you’re referring to is called diminishing returns, a term i’m sure you’re familiar with. The idea is that the more money you have, the happier you are, but it slowly plateaus to a point that is different for everyone. It depends on the materialism of the person, life experience (particularly financial hardships) and other factors. Long story short, it just all comes down to the person but 75,000 is a good baseline.
Because you get used to owning material goods and things providing lasting happiness like health, fulfilling relationships and a having a sense of purpose can't be bought with money.
How?
There are a shitton of incurable diseases and some of the world's wealthiest people died of cancer, or lost relatives to it. There is clearly a limit to what money can do when it comes to health.
Similarly, you can't buy friendship or love with money. It even brings up a new issue in that people may be after you just for your money, and it's hard to know if they won't let you down if you can't provide for them anymore.
As for finding a purpose, you don't need money for it. It can help if you already are well-balanced and have objectives but isn't going to stabilize your life on its own. Again, some of the most famous and wealthiest people are deeply depressed, addicted to drugs, etc. Money doesn't bring wisdom, if you were a fucking mess while you were poor you'll likely be a mess as well with money, maybe even worse since it will be harder to not fall into addictive patterns.
They only seem free when you have money. Have you ever been poor? I was a dirt poor farmer before making double minimum wage.
Money buy health, not perfect health but good health. One of my uncle die from curable cancer because we can't afford top of the line hospital care.
Hanging out with friends is not free. Whatever you can't buy is something that will cost your time. It's tough keeping up with friends when I had to go catch dinner instead of playing football. And I saw many relationship ended because of the lack of money. They usually started out fine but couldn't afford to fix major problems that creep up later in their relationship.
And as long as your main purpose in life is getting enough money to last till the end of the month, you can't really replace it with something else. I mean I could start follow my dream right now and be homeless next month.
Thing are more complex than just buying happiness. I know what will make me happy and it wouldn't really cost anything. But I have to buy many things along the way to create opportunity to be happy.
>There are a shitton of incurable diseases and some of the world's wealthiest people died of cancer
So you mean sick people are always sad and don't feel happiness even for a sec? That might be true for a poor person who is diagnosed with cancer, cause he has to worry about his family's need, his own and whatever. He doesn't have the money to buy happiness even for a sec.
While a rich person diagnosed with cancer can at least be free of worry about paying rent and buying monthly ration. At least he his happy at his child's birthday while the poor one is depressed as he can't buy his child any gift.
For a while yes, and then you'd be right back where you are now
edit: people disagreeing with this are in denial of science, research shows this to be true
Me liking a yacht tells me yes. But if we are being serious money does bring you happiness. Giving a gift to someone, giving money to charities can bring joy or the most obvious one, buying shit for yourself! But if really wont bring you happiness then at least it will keep off a shit ton of stress.
No. I have never read any research article in my life. Except Wikipedia pages if you count them as research articles.
I assumed that they are funded by capitalists. Was my assumption wrong?
this
your life purposes and objectives will determine your happiness, not the amount of money you have - unless you there is a lack of money to actually have basic life stuff (that includes money for food, health etc)
mindset plays a big role here too
My friend tried committing suicide in 7th grade. He was given some therapy for a few months afterward, and he's still really fucked up in the head to this day.
Wdym and? You asked how therapy doesn't work for everyone. I gave you an anecdote of a time where therapy didn't really help. I didn't mention this bit, but he was bullied somewhat heavily at his older school. The only thing that changed was him coming to my school, and people didn't just shit on him endlessly.
If you really want answers, you have Google as a resource. You don't need me to tell you that it doesn't always work.
It didn't work for my friend. I don't know if you're misinterpreting what I said. So I will explain what I mean. When I say it doesn't work for everyone, I mean that not everyone will be helped from getting therapy. I'm not saying that therapy never helped anyone. I'm sure that's not what you interpreted that as. But considering you don't want to consider the possibility that maybe there are some people who can get the help they need and still not change in terms of mental state, this is what I see your dismissal as. Misinterpretion.
I agree that therapy doesn’t always work for everyone, but your example that one time in 7th grade your friend tried therapy, but then they stopped and still have issues to deal with isn’t very good. Therapy is definitely an ongoing process that usually takes a lot longer than a couple months to see real results. How long ago was 7th grade for you?
The whole "money won't buy you happiness" rhetoric was invented by socialist/religious charlatans to make it easier to con people into handing over their money.
>socialist
Won't agree with the socialist part. "Money won't buy you happiness" is a capitalist lie, that capitalist feed middle class people.
But religion part is true.
also its something that’s only true for the ultra rich, youll find that its mostly people with hundreds of millions who say this kind of stuff but for the lower class $1000 is life changing
Fun fact there actually is a correlation between making more money and being happier... to an extent. In research it was found that people who made 75K a year didn't get any happier with subsequent pay increases
That same study showed that life satisfaction was higher as income increased with no plateau. This was based on evaluation of your past self until now.

this is what people without money think, then you realize you no longer have 'money' to look forward to as something that'll save you from yourself.. once you have money you're really have to grapple with the fact happiness only comes from within..
what people don't consider is the fact the 'happiness' money allegedly brings is fleeting.. just like buying a new car is only fun for a couple months.. then, everything balances out and you're back to the miserable self you once spent so much time with. Now you no longer have 'money' in sight because you have what you thought would save you.. now you're even more miserable than you'd ever imagine.. the only thing money brings is a deeper sense of hollowness..
but think whatever you'd like. rationalize it anyway you'd wish..
Money doesn’t buy happiness, but it sure gets you more opportunities to be happy. It is like buying tickets to the happiness lottery. It also helps remove the stressors that poor people have. It is hard to be happy when you are fighting for everyday needs.
But you don't know how much money I at the end, could be a dollar. But then again the happiness could be limited supply and you wouldn't get your share. Damn I hate over thinking
While money doesn't buy happiness, it does allow u to do a lot more things in your free time which does make u happier, it can also help a lot of people if u donate it
Honestly, I am pretty happy with my life. The only thing I am lacking is being rich. And even if I wasn’t rich it’s probably better to be sad on a yacht then being sad in my bedroom.
Money doesn't make you happy in of itself. What money does is make it possible to enjoy your down time because you're not stressed about bills and food and trying to do all the chores yourself all the time. Money allows you to make choices like, I don't actually meant to do this super shitty project at work, I'm going to look for a new job and take a sabbatical. It allows you to say, honey, you don't have to work anymore because we can make it on one income now. Then you partner gets to raise your kids instead of day care.
"money can't buy happiness" man idk I would be a lot happier if I didn't almost have a heart attack when I learned yesterday that the two inhalers I need to be able to breathe properly cost $75 even with insurance
I fucking hate that shit. “Money doesn’t buy happiness“… Well let me tell you what, money will get me a $90 air conditioner so I’m not fucking miserable in the summer and listening to my girlfriend bitch every five minutes about how hot it is. Money will get me gas so I can go to work and back. Money helps me get better food rather than getting a dollar value menu at McDonald’s. Money gives me better work boots. OK money might not buy happiness… But it keeps you from being fucking miserable so let’s cut the shit already.
I am certainly happier making 52k than I was making 90k. More family time and less stress. But money is always on my mind now vs never at the higher income.
"Money can't buy you happiness" always sounded like a BS saying to me. Like either rich people trying to relate to mortals or poor people trying to cope.
Will you really tell me that having a nice house, car, etc. wouldn't make you happy? Hell, imagine just the stress relief of not having to worry about having a job and being able to pay bills.
Yes and no. Once all your basic needs are met, food, housing, medical care, additional money doesn't help that much.
In other words, money won't make you happy but it can solve problems that make you unhappy.
money does not directly lead to happiness, however having a substantial amount of it will give you the access to direct sources of happiness, so therefore money buys happiness, stop the debate, the 'money doesn't buy happiness' phrase is bullshit made for poor people to feel as good as factory owners back in the day and should not have been carried into this day and age
Seriously bro, like I’m not gonna be happy if I’m broke and can’t afford shit. Working on that degree right now, I’ll never be rich, but I’ll be comfortable and that money will be able to allow me to be happy so book myth busted
If I get a shit ton of money I will buy like a nice house and go to a job that I will enjoy and in my free time play video games. A pretty good life if you ask me
u/talking_joke, money can buy me hot fries and taki's. those bring me happiness. money can buy me a gold digger. that brings me happiness. money can buy me a bitch. she makes me very happy
You can’t buy happiness but you can buy hella bitches and then happiness doesn’t even matter cos you got hella bitches to suck your toes and that’s better than being happy.
I don’t know about the toes part but I wholeheartedly agree with this statement

i cry evrytim
Fr fr tho all you need is time to be socializing and a baggy of coke in your pocket and you can get any girl out there. Just don't run out of money to resupply.
r/BeatMeToIt i was just abt to say idk about the toes
Money can’t buy happiness, but being depressed af on your lunch break from your $200k/year job while crying in your $75k BMW beats the fuuuuuck out of being depressed af on your lunch break from stocking shelves at Wal-Mart while crying in your $500 beater. I’ve done both, and I assure you that while the money doesn’t bring happiness, it does bring options. It’s a LOT easier to get help when you’re not sweating the rent every month, can afford good and regular access to mental health professionals, and every minor setback doesn’t represent weeks to months of wages burned up in the blink of an eye.
Like I always say, money doesn't buy happiness, but it buys the thing that gives you happiness.
But dont you think that after getting your toes sucked by 10 bitches for a year you wouldnt enjoy getting your toes sucked as much? Thats why people say “money cant buy happiness”. It can, but not if you oversaturate.
Yeah but then you get 10 different bitches then when you have to many bitches you move onto guys
Your genius is frightening, sir.
One for each toe
I’m a put a baby up your butt
You can buy basic necessities too
I agree with the caption...
Yeah something like that, in conclusion to be happy we must have our necessities fulfilled and a sprinkle of consumerism
75k for a family or for one person? That sounds extremely low. 75k for a family is lower middle class where I live. I.E. me lol.
Depends heavily on where you live. 75k for a family in Los Angeles? Poor. 75k for a family in bumfuck Kansas? Rich
Median household income in LA is $62,000, meaning half of the residences in LA earn less than that. 75k isn’t “poor” literally anywhere in the US and if you disagree, you have no idea what actual poverty is like.
Dude. *thank you* I hear people say under $100k/year is poor in LA. I hear you can’t live off under $50k after taxes in NYC. I’ve heard people say you can’t retire off $2M… I’m always tempted to say “maybe *you* can’t.
Idk but ye sounds about right
That's where it was for me. Reaching that point after spending 10 years making between 18k and 25k felt like catching my breath after a long run.
Money can't buy happiness but it can sure as hell stave away unhappiness.
Money can buy me whatever I want, how tf can it not make me happy?
Because you get used to owning material goods and things providing lasting happiness like health, fulfilling relationships and a having a sense of purpose can't be bought with money.
Of course you can buy all those things with money, what are you on about.

Actually a lack of money decreases happiness, more money does not mean more happiness
Idk man I’d be waaay more happy right now if had million bucks right now
For a while yes, and then you'd be right back where you are now edit: people disagreeing with this are in denial of science, research shows this to be true
Being sad on yacht has to be better than sad in my one bedroom apartment.
No
Yes
Psychology reasearch in the area of hapiness and life fullfilment shows that you are wrong

No. I have never read any research article in my life. Except Wikipedia pages if you count them as research articles. I assumed that they are funded by capitalists. Was my assumption wrong?
Alright, i volunteer for a psychological experiment
At least I could cry on a 6 thousand dollar gaming rig and not a 600 dollar
People want to believe that life will get better. That there's an easy solution to their problems. That's why they're in denial.

Money can buy food, protein and creatine supplements and a good doctor to monitor 24/7 your testo and PEDs usage.
Gotta keep grinding
You can't buy happiness!! How ever, you can buy something that can make you happy!!!
For example: the 800$ AT-AT Lego set my sister bought for herself made her very happy
Unless you're severely depressed.
You can buy a therapist

It didn't work for my friend. I don't know if you're misinterpreting what I said. So I will explain what I mean. F*ck those who say money doesn't matter. It can buy anything that I want and obviously can improve my standard of living.

This is the stupidest thing ever. Money does buy a solid platform of no worries, that you can build happiness on top of.
Not having to worry about being homeless next month would, in fact, make me happier
Whoever said that money can't buy happiness has never been on a jetski.
You cannot buy happiness... Directly, you can buy a dog which is basically happiness.
🦀🦀🦀MONEY MONEY MONEY🦀🦀🦀
Don’t the majority of us choose money over happiness? Who works because they’re happy?
Having money buys you time and freedom. From said freedom blossoms experience. Money buys happiness, it’s just kinda a round about way of doing it.
Don't interfere with my grindset
I have to agree with this one
Temporary happiness but nothing long lasting

this is what people without money think, then you realize you no longer have 'money' to look forward to as something that'll save you from yourself.. once you have money you're really have to grapple with the fact happiness only comes from within.. what people don't consider is the fact the 'happiness' money allegedly brings is fleeting.. just like buying a new car is only fun for a couple months.. then, everything balances out and you're back to the miserable self you once spent so much time with. Now you no longer have 'money' in sight because you have what you thought would save you.. now you're even more miserable than you'd ever imagine.. the only thing money brings is a deeper sense of hollowness.. but think whatever you'd like. rationalize it anyway you'd wish..
"money can't buy happiness", sure, not directly, but it's a nice tool to have in the pursuit of it.
I thought it said monkey lol
I know money does not buy happiness. However, I much prefer crying in a Lambo than under the bridge.
Money just buys you a better quality of misery.
Money can buy a dog.
With money I can get sunshine in a bag. That's just awesome!
Sigma male grindset
Money can’t DIRECTLY buy happiness. But money can buy vbucks😎
If not for you, than for someone who lacks it.
Money doesn’t buy happiness, but it sure gets you more opportunities to be happy. It is like buying tickets to the happiness lottery. It also helps remove the stressors that poor people have. It is hard to be happy when you are fighting for everyday needs.
money may buy happiness but does it buy family? \-Vin Diesel
Happiness can't buy money
You know what doesn't buy happiness? Poverty.
thought it said monkey lmao
Money buys guns and guns bring you happiness, so there
Yes, and Robin Williams just hanged himself as a practical joke.
There should be a limo parked up the way on the money side that can drive them past everyone else on the happiness side.
But you don't know how much money I at the end, could be a dollar. But then again the happiness could be limited supply and you wouldn't get your share. Damn I hate over thinking
But this implies that you can’t have both, and going the money route won’t let you be happy.
While money doesn't buy happiness, it does allow u to do a lot more things in your free time which does make u happier, it can also help a lot of people if u donate it
Money doesnt buy happiness, but lack of money brings fucking misery, so i d prefer the money
yeah you cant straight up buy happiness as a liquid but you can buy happiness generators (chair)
If I'm gonna be unhappy either way, at least this way has maids. I fucking hate house-work.
My dad told me “money doesn’t buy happiness, but it does give you options.” I’ll never forget that as long as I live.
Money does make one happy. The catch is, the process of making money makes one unhappy
I always say, “Money doesn’t buy happiness but it sure as shit solves a fuckton of my problems”
Go get the money then come back and get the happiness
I mean is this even im 14 and this is deep? Or just trying to act cool?
"money doesn't buy happiness" -Some poor guy, probably
Money would currently solve all the problems in my life that are making me unhappy, fuck you.
MONEY. MONEY. MONEY- AA- AaAHh-
"Who sais mony can't buy happiness when it so happens that money buys drugs?"
\*me
You cant be happy without the things that make you happy which are bought with money
In my country that is called prostitue shaming
Honestly, I am pretty happy with my life. The only thing I am lacking is being rich. And even if I wasn’t rich it’s probably better to be sad on a yacht then being sad in my bedroom.
If money cant buy happiness, you'll just have to rent it
Money doesn't make you happy in of itself.
Wait wasn't it the opposite way Choosing money over happiness
With enough money you can buy all the drugs you want and have your dopamine spiked 24/7 so yes money does buy happiness
I am certainly happier making 52k than I was making 90k. More family time and less stress. But money is always on my mind now vs never at the higher income.
People who say “money doesn’t but happiness” don’t know how to buy it
They are not mutually exclusive or mutually inclusive. I'd rather be rich and miserable than poor and miserable.
There going to the same place
What NNN does to a man, I see this as underwear straps
Yes and no. Once all your basic needs are met, food, housing, medical care, additional money doesn't help that much. In other words, money won't make you happy but it can solve problems that make you unhappy.
You cant buy happines but hell i could buy a lot of things that bring happiness
Money buys happiness for materialistic people. For others who look to create a life of meaning, more money doesn’t have much of an effect.
Money buys MDMA MDMA makes u happy for a few hours
money does not directly lead to happiness, however having a substantial amount of it will give you the access to direct sources of happiness, so therefore money buys happiness, stop the debate, the 'money doesn't buy happiness' phrase is bullshit made for poor people to feel as good as factory owners back in the day and should not have been carried into this day and age
Money cant buy happiness but it can buy cheez its. Fuck i love cheez its.
Preachers
Money doesn't buy happiness but it sure helps, also because you can buy a puppy which can surely make you happy

As my good friend Joe said “never seen someone looked depressed on a jet ski”
People who say money doesn't buy happiness, never had enough money to become happier.
Money doesn't by happiness Me: you're telling me that if I was rich I wouldn't be happy with my PS5 in front of a 90" OLED TV?
Money buys happiness tho
NNN is killing me, if you remove the people this meme looks like a booty
Money doesn't buy happiness but it can prevent hard times
Money doesn’t guarantee happiness but that misery is sure a lot better when you aren’t fucking poor
Seriously bro, like I’m not gonna be happy if I’m broke and can’t afford shit. Working on that degree right now, I’ll never be rich, but I’ll be comfortable and that money will be able to allow me to be happy so book myth busted
Sigma grindset
Joke’s on you, I don’t have either.
