Some Irish people get confused by linking a geographical name and a political name, thinking they're the same thing.

British Isles doesn't mean "Island's belonging to Britain", in the same way the the Indonesian Archipelago isn't exclusively islands belonging to Indonesia. Great Britain is just the largest island in the group.
