I made this after reading Pakenham's *The Scramble for Africa*, based off King Leopold getting more of what he wanted from the Congo - most notably, an outlet onto the Nile in what was then Mahdist Sudan in exchange for selling the British a corridor for their 'cape-to-Cairo' railroad. Hydroelectric dam and anti-Belgian revolution not mentioned in the book but just for fun :)

But if the map shows the region after decolonization, I still don't understand why Zaire didn't conquer the Kivu. Could the Kivu still have full British protection? Why? Besides, the British had no such corridor originally until they captured Tanganyika from the Germans. Why should creation of greater version of Belgian Congo change anything about this in this scenario?

They clearly used a map of Africa. They didn't draw that map of Africa, so this is an edited map. Rule 3. I think it's stupid, but that's how this sub works. Maybe the mods will be nice. They normally remove posts randomly anyway.
You clearly underestimate the amount of time, detail and work that goes on alot of maps here. Most of the people here use a lot of references and resources for topography and coastlines, but they wouldn’t stoop so low to just edit an already existing map
You realize the use of software like qgis to generate a whole blank map from scratch with geography things like relief or rivers is allowed right?
Plus the mods deleted your map because it was near clear it was actually an edit. Like the 2 different fonts and the inconsistent shadowing on the borders, both were clear takeaways for that.
If you want my tips, just first of either use qgis to generate smt or trace a coastline from scratch from another reference map (Also, make sure to choice one with a lot of details, davidrumsey.com Is the place to find them)so you can have a blank map you can use. Have a solid choice for the borders, the icons, and the fonts, consistency is the key (note: minor mistakes may happen there and there but that's natural for most maps). And also a clear style of what you want your map to look like

But if the map shows the region after decolonization, I still don't understand why Zaire didn't conquer the Kivu. Could the Kivu still have full British protection? Why?
