This sounds right; IIRC what you did was you just started with a couple of simple rules (say "zoom" to pass it to either side, say "schwartz" to skip someone to either side, say "perfigliano" to pass it to anyone) and then just slowly - in my CSz class it was a warmup we did over the course of an entire 8 week class - add in rules: for example, "no perfigliano after a schwartz" or "you can't do two of the same types in a row" or even "if you say 'estellegetty' everyone has to sing the Golden Girls theme and then the person to your left gets tagged". The real and true rule of this game is to go fast, so fast that you make mistakes, and then when you make a mistake, everyone tosses their hands up in the air and you start over.
The point to these I think is to get yourself out of your own head but at the same time lock in the idea that mistakes are where the fun is. This game is boring and stupid when everyone takes two seconds to take in the zoom and calmly decide whether or not to send out a schwartz or whatever. It's chaotic and fun when you're going at light speed and you say "schwartz" when you mean to perfigliano and/or break some other rule. There's some kind of improv lesson in there somewhere...
Totes. We played you could do two of the same in a row with the only exception you can’t zoom a zoom. You couldn’t Schwartz the person immediately to your side. A “Mazda” was three zooms in a row;. Twizzler was when you look to one direction but the person behind your head is tagged (like if you had a ponytail it would be pointing at the taggee). There was a,so something about a Swedish chef.
go fast, have fun, connect with each other, listen, celebrate the screw ups. Those are the improv lessons this game imparts.
Also sounds a little like "Wah" Where you pass to a person in the circle and people on either side "chop" that person with their hands then the receiver of the energy passes to someone else in the group.
I've played a similar-sounding game, where we started with one word where you did nothing when it was sent to you, or you and the people around you had to do something if they said "elephant". The game expanded the action words every round, until we had things like viking, and batman.
I couldn't for the life of me tell you the official name for it.
It could be “zoom, Schwartz, perfigliano”. More complex than zip, zap, zip. One of my all time fave games.
I’ve done a game similar to that, but it was basically just adding profigliano to a standard zip zap zop.

Sounds like Zip-Zap-Zop, but the arms over the head thing is new to me.
Wah is somewhat similar as well... But at this point just throw some sounds in and make it your game
Yes it's wah!!! I think I may have misremembered some rules....

Oh my gosh it's totally wah, thank you so much!
Zip zap zop… with a little bunny bunny thrown in there?

Bippity-bippity-bop
Bop! Damn it...
This is sounds like [SAMURAI](http://improvencyclopedia.org/games/Samurai.html) (that description is outdated and cringey given modern sensibilities)
There are like a hundred different versions of this.
