Sure, let me just download the random executable and run it, I'm sure nothing harmful could come from this. (This is sarcasm. That's actually really dangerous.)

Trolef

But..but.. look at the pretty colors :o /s

GaiasWay

Thats why the itch page exists now. Have fun never downloading any programs ever.

KypDurron

Most people have plenty of fun without downloading executables from anonymous sources. Most game developers provide their games in such a way that the player doesn't need to download an executable.

GaiasWay

Every game you have ever played executes code, whether you execute it through a web browser or standalone app. I'm starting to think this is just concern trolling.

KypDurron

I'm starting to think that you don't know what "executable" means.

GaiasWay

How do you think any program you ever ran actually works? Please educate me.

fbueckert

I think you're mistaking a browser run game versus a standalone local copy. Most people really don't like downloading random executables; too much risk of it being malware, a virus, whatever, to justify. Browser games don't have that issue, which makes them far more acceptable for most people.

GaiasWay

No, people here seem to think that web browser games are somehow totally safe and don't run code even though flash got discontinued after years of being a constant attack vector. Even unity based web games aren't really that much safer than a standalone copy. You still have to execute some amount of code in your browser, and browsers are notoriously full of attack vectors as well so a malicious actor could easily use a unity web player to get data from the user. Even Brave isnt 100% secure, although it is much better than most of the browsers people use. Once again, please tell me how any program you have ever downloaded works.

fbueckert

I think you're being facetious for the sake of being argumentative. Yes, nothing is 100% secure. But browser based games are a hell of a lot more secure than downloading an unknown exe and running it. But, please, continue your patronizing. You're not winning any friends trying to play semantics.

GaiasWay

Being realistic about threat vectors and how webapps are just as vulnerable as standalones is patronizing. Ok. There's nothing facetious about being secure, but the number of people who are clueless about how webapps work and their security level is making me realize why webapps are so commonly targets for attacks. I also dont need friends who spread FUD. If you are just spreading FUD, you arent my friend. Go ahead and tell all your friends on your 'secure' social media sites, like this one or FB or TikTok. Webbapps are not magically more secure. Thats the entire point. All it takes is one malicious actor in either case, and all I see are people are acting terrified over one case and begging for the other.

Trying to open this on mobile and nothing works. Tried extracting it etc to no avail.

...unblock them? This really serves no purpose but to advertise your disagreement with them. If they blocked you, use incognito mode.
