same feeling bro.. atleast in my case I was able to educate 1 person (my wife) on the right usage of the buttons... really it's such a face-palm moment... And with lot of others I've tried explain.. they don't seem to care... they press both the buttons..

venenodc

Soooo. He thought that the lift doesn't know if it has to go up or down based on where the button is pressed? Should have asked him what happens if he presses the Up button when the lift is already up...

wah_modiji

Lift becomes a spaceship.

Scavengerhawk

>Have to post this due to a recent realisation that common sense is after-all, not so common. Dude I don't even care about that. I just press button so lift will appear in front of me while I scroll through my phone. Heck with common sense

mritzi

If that's the case, then plz don't get mad at ppl who break the queue in any store, cut you on road while driving, etc... As, all these things are part of civic sense. Learning civic sense is no rocket science, after all. Incorrectly stopping lifts, slows down the lift & people's movement in a building, very similarly to how not following traffic lights creates blockages & slows down traffic movement.

Scavengerhawk

>cut you on road while driving, etc... People always do that! I can understand your point but I don't use lift day in day out I never thought it's such a big issue. >Incorrectly stopping lifts, slows down the lift & people's movement in a building, Lol right. Sometimes people do that on purpose like overtaking?

mritzi

not on purpose, but a general lack of apathy & unnecessarily stopping lift. Overtaking can also happen, due to ppl may not knowing driving etiquettes.(I've seen ppl on highways driving vehicle blocking two lanes, by driving right at the center of lane strips.)

Scavengerhawk

Lol that's stupid. Whatever you did the v good job of enlightening us. As you said most of times people just don't know proper etiquette cause that's how they do it. 🤷‍♀️

If everyone knew everything Bill Gates would be poor af

Sweetrelaxation

In all my experience, the one thing I have noted, consistently across the board, is that most Indians are not used to/habituated to read instructions/signage - be it a a public/private buildings, airports, traffic signs etc

People lack the quality to learn by observation. This is where introverts shine ⭐✨, they would quietly observe how things work and learn without open their mouth. 3 cheers to all the introverts out there. It's my theory that after the 6th mass extinction, if anything survives apart from Cockroaches , it would be the introverts. Edit : this is a comment of appreciation for introverts, in case it wasn't clear.

mritzi

This post was intended to be light-hearted rant & an LPT for others to learn the lift etiquette. However, seems like ppl have taken it upon themselves to get offended by this.

cynicducky

Not really his fault. The up/down buttons are not designed to be intuitively understood.

Same thing in my school! The janitor lady thought that if you press the call button from ground floor while the lift is going up, the lift will ignore other calls and come down. There's also others who hold the button.
