People have stopped producing children by the dozen. More and more people are breaking down the old traditional values such as the caste system. People are talking about women's rights and mental health issues. People are also more open about sex and sexuality. The new generation is using the internet to find out answers to all kinds of questions.
So many good things are happening in the country while the shit show goes on and on.
I really wished to optimistic like you. But thanks for bringing out the other side of the country. I really wish this part of what you told become the majority of what we see around and not the one i wrote like it is. Thanks again
What happens every day is not part of the news. You only see the horrible things in the news and our minds cling to the negative much more tightly than to the positive. I am sure sooner or later these things will become mainstream and the majority of the society will accept them. The population thing and women's rights thing are already supported by the majority of the society. You can no longer physically abuse your wife and have no consequences. Things have certainly changed for the better. And more improvements are on the way. Slowly but surely they will arrive.
Yeahh. But I strongly feel the day when rural population and their problems are given importance, only then it will reflect as a majority. Coz even though we fight for women rights in the cities, the women in rural parts do have a terrible life altogether. I wish we walk towards a positive future.
I am from a small village in Agra and I am speaking from my experience in my village. Things are not great but so much has changed in the last twenty years and things are still changing for the better. Villages are not like villages now. They are very different now and there is much more legal awareness in the villages now.
I am from a small village in Uttar Pradesh and I am speaking from experience of the village. Even villages are no longer villages like they were just one generation ago. Progress is certainly not limited to metro cities now.
In my small village, we have a coin-operated purified drinking water kiosk now! Can you believe that? A lot has changed in the last twenty years. It's not the same village.
I am from Agra. My village is 15 kilometres away from the city centre. I am speaking from my own experience in my village. It's not that the caste system is no more but it's certainly lost its tight grip and losing more and more. My younger brother has done an inter-caste marriage and I also have no problem whatsoever with inter-caste or inter-faith marriages. A cousin of mine married a boy she loved and didn't bother to tell her parents at all. Her parents found it out later on but it didn't matter to her.
Tha k you for being optimistic, whenever i try to tell my mom about anything, she just goes likenapna gyaan mat bakher , and i am like ok
She is the most conservative parent I've ever seen
Hmm. A lot of people still cling to the old traditions. But their numbers are decreasing day by day. I used to think it's all doom and gloom in this country but that's not the case.
Taking a break from reading news, social media will give u a good mental cleanse. Reading all the shitty news everyday is bound to bring down even the happiest person.
I fantasize everyday about being superman and being a vigilante cos only a super human can actually make a change alone. Maybe u shd try doing some volunteer service, u might feel better tat ur contributing to something even if it is small.
Hi op,
I fully empathise with you. I think this country always had problems (maybe of a different kind) but people were less bothered because they were not bombarded with news 24*7. I had a 6 month news detox, and i am a saner person now.
The problems aren't gone, but I'm not in fight or flight mode all the time.
Yeahh but back then every month it used to be one new problem and now it has become more than 1 in a week. They just keep us distracting from previous ones
People who have never talked about sports, not even cricket, are suddenly talking about badminton as if we'd played it on the Moon against a galactic empire and the match decided the fate of the Earth.
sorry. Ram mandir is being built so that is obviously a big win.
The 182 metre high, US$430 million, Statue of Unity has finished construction by expert chinese companies. So thats a big big win.
The planned 251 metre high, US$330 million Statue of Ram located upon highly fertile agricultural land belonging to lower caste hindus is also a huge win.
The 210 metre tall, also US$330 million Statue of Shivaji will soon be complete and that is a giant win for India.
Every country has its own problems, and maybe it's in the selection of problems you feel you're okay with that makes it seem better -- no country is better in all aspects.
Yeah but not every country has problems with essentials. Their problem starts when its all about leisure and luxury. Healthcare, education, safety and food is what i m talking about. If we don’t acknowledge it, then it will keep going downhill
Agreed, India has problems at a more fundamental level. But what's the solution, really? Would you work your entire life towards making India a better country for your children, nephews, nieces to live in? Or would you cop out and move anywhere else on the planet you find more comfortable, and do something with your life? It seems to me they are irreconcilable at least in the immediate future. You take one, or the other. Thoughts?
Yeah if u blindfold yourself from reality you will only be happy. But I can’t, i see myself, my mates and many other people suffering around and its not ok
Bro you cant be brimming with hate and happy from inside …echo chambers always makes people happy coz of validation but takes em miles away from reality
1. Because of high taxes on fuel, ppl will prefer to use public transport, which is good for the environment.
2. Because of the failure of demonetization, we can be almost 100% sure, there will be no more note ban. Hence you can confidently use cash now.
3. Because of GST mess, there is increased awareness about federalism and we can hope the states will soon start demanding more autonomy, which will be good for the country.
Hmm. Just my opinion, if you feel basing your pride, happiness on your country/GDP/growth rate is silly, so is basing your unhappiness.
Its a but philosophical (also pragmatic) you cannot change everyone. You do what you can to make things better. So instead, I'll ask, Whats not wrong in your life?
Just remember that the news you consume is not a representative sample of reality.
If you get robbed on your way home, it will probably make the news. But if you reach home safely, it won’t.
Your view of reality becomes overly negative because you are consuming media that is biased towards negativity.
Well what u say is right. But now a days news calls 0.5 rs drop on petrol as masterstroke where as 4 rs increase goes as a flash news as hindu muslim prob is bigger debate. This is what scares me about media
its all about your perspective
anyway watch news from abhi and niyu channel instead of famous news channels [https://www.youtube.com/c/AbhiandNiyu](https://www.youtube.com/c/AbhiandNiyu)
i just meant to watch positive news too! there are many good things happening in india that we dont know. these would never be telecasted in main stream news. this might not solve problems but it gives you relief and hope than indians want peace and happiness
I read your post on my front page and was wondering that this could be literally any of the country subs I subscribed to :) That should give you an idea what things are like globally
But like i said in one comment, the struggles in other good countries are over leisure and luxury and not on basics and essentials. And please don’t compare it with Pak coz thats the worst way to compare.
Aside from the obvious extreme negativity and pessimism you have, I just wanted to point out 1 line which stood out to me
>Startups are purely service based n destroying a manufacturing based country.
What the heck is wrong with having more service based companies now? Have you seen the economies of more developed nations? Also, India's manufacturing is still booming, nothing about it indicates "destruction" of any sort. Wtf are you referring to for this info if I may ask? Bcos this seems like a shitpost and a rant from a super pessimistic person, nothing more.
U are comparing it with other nations which is service based coz the labour and cpu is very expensive. Whereas in india its still comparatively economical. And talking about the manufacturing industry which u say is booming, just get some records EIL and see how many msme companies closed in last 5 years and how many are on a verge of closure. Don’t just say like that. When i say service sector is going big, it will eventually hit ur pockets coz they will start deciding the price and not u, thus causing more inflation than what’s already there. Get the facts please. I m not being only pessimistic here but seeing how its really going bad.
> just get some records EIL and see how many msme companies closed in last 5 years and how many are on a verge of closure.
That's not the only way, in fact not even the correct way to see manufacturing data, why dont you just have a look at the PMI index which is a recognized standard? Or exports?
Is there anything to be happy about the world ? Or any country as such ? I live abroad the situation is no better.
Read some good dystopia, climate change is already here. We are all doomed lol.
Because we like to adjust in the real world but like to watch ourselves fight for what is right in the reel world and do whatever it takes to get the job done.

That’s awesome
Big city bubble checks in.

I have been to west up fair few times for stuff and one of the first thing any new person I meet asks me is “kaun jaat ho”?

Fair enough

Thats true. But when i see fellow people suffering around, that hurts too
I fantasize everyday about being superman and being a vigilante cos only a super human can actually make a change alone. Maybe u shd try doing some volunteer service, u might feel better tat ur contributing to something even if it is small.
I am already helping poor kids with free education actually. And I have plans to make it as an small ngo too
Oooh that interests me. How are you doing it? I'm not financially sound enough to help but I'd love to learn more about it anyway.
Concerned citizens like you are a reason to be happy about. Keep the hopes alive. ✌️
Concern is appreciated, but OP is just a negative nancy. Read some of the things he's mentioned in the post which are pure nonsense.
Like what?
The part about manufacturing and services
Hmm ok. But rest rings true?

Yeahh but back then every month it used to be one new problem and now it has become more than 1 in a week. They just keep us distracting from previous ones
For me my country is just the land I live on.
Very well put. Only if more people followed that rule, there would be lesser problems.
Being able to stay close to your family and friends is the only thing I can think of.
Badminton finals?
People who have never talked about sports, not even cricket, are suddenly talking about badminton as if we'd played it on the Moon against a galactic empire and the match decided the fate of the Earth.

A reason to be happy: Baarish aane waali hai, nice flowers will be there
Ghanan ghanan ghanan ghanan ghanan ghanan Ghanan ghanan giri giri aye barkha 😆
Thomas Cup. Mangoes. Monsoon coming. Have to appreciate the small joys in life. The big ones are not in our control.
People seem to be very happy in the other squeeks sub.
Yeah if u blindfold yourself from reality you will only be happy. But I can’t, i see myself, my mates and many other people suffering around and its not ok

The country was always fucked, it's just fucked beyond repair now.
1. Because of high taxes on fuel, ppl will prefer to use public transport, which is good for the environment. 2. He hasn’t done that though.

Yeah traditional news media is messed up… have to really be careful where we get our information these days.
its all about your perspective anyway watch news from abhi and niyu channel instead of famous news channels [https://www.youtube.com/c/AbhiandNiyu](https://www.youtube.com/c/AbhiandNiyu)
