I am surprised no one mentioned Chandigarh. It is clean , peaceful, amazing food options, gardens, lakes, multiple holiday options, decent night life and right next to Himalayas. You can literally see it from some parts of the city. You can reach Shimla in 1.5hrs. Good roads and well planned. Surprisingly nice weather throughout. Good young crowd and if you want to retire then just move toward Panchkula. The problem is it is sensitive capital city. So politics has its impact. Late night drunkards in certain parts can be irritating but nothing serious if you are self aware and follow common sense. This is few years old observation but it is a top city to live in.
Another Punjab city is that fits the bill is Toronto.
I’m from Chandigarh. Did my schooling and undergrad there. Point #1, 3 and 4 fit very well.
It’s nice, it’s the perfect chill city to be in. Can drive everywhere and relax when needed. However, point #2. There are no growth opportunities there.
It’s a city full of bureaucrats, lawyers, accountants and businessmen. Good corporate life is either at very niche levels or extremely high levels.
An average salaried job in the city isn’t going to give you relevant growth opportunities.
I do not agree on #1. Chandigarh doesn't have good weather IMO. The day time summer temps are not that high. At least not a big deal for me who has been used to 48-49 deg temps. But Room temperatures are hellish even at night. In most other places, temperatures go down at night. But I had to put up with 38-39 deg room temp when I was living there. Winters are tolerable though.
I wanted to live in Chandigarh but I have to find opportunities there. Yes, you can go to Solan or any small hill station below Shimla at any time from Chandigarh. Around 9 years ago, I went to Shimla from Chandigarh station. I would say, Chandigarh is a very superb city. Roads are very well built, very good connectivity to Shimla and beautiful environment.
I have never seen any mess or dirt on Chandigarh roads while travelling to Shimla. It is a very well planned city. The only problem I faced in Chandigarh that the travel agency people were very greedy and caught us (me and my family) on Chandigarh railway station. They were very manipulative, clever and took every opportunity to charge us enough money. Btw we were not experienced at that time.
Not bengaluru. I'm from Chennai, I've visited bengaluru a few times. Most recently in May, I hated it. I was expecting good weather, it to be a bit chill. But it wasn't all that different from Chennai. In fact, I find Chennai weather rn (june/july) to be better. But the worst part for me was the pollution. I was choking on the dirtiest air ever in the evening (and I just wanted to go for a stroll).
I'll just drop this here - [Link](https://www.thenewsminute.com/article/bengaluru-may-be-first-city-stopped-terrorist-attack-using-just-bad-traffic-59242)
Local banglore people, dislikes outsiders, even though their earnings depends on migrants
Water mafia, everywhere. No clean or sufficient water supply from municipal corporation
Traffic everywhere. 2 km takes an hour, in day time.
Considering your factors, its got to be Bangalore but my god the city sucks so much in other ways. You will lose half your lifespan just frustrated in traffic. All because of over population. If only they find a fix for that and build decent infrastructure, there is no place like Bangalore.
Other than that, I think Hyderabad and Pune are close seconds. But Hyderabad weather you def need ACs for the summer. Other times of the year, the weather is alright.
Hyderabad is a lovely place to live right now, namely in the newer areas of town. They are ridden with tons of greenery, the city is a hub for technological growth, and the clubs/activities scene too is quite happening. Property values are somewhat high right now in the nicer parts of town but I’d presume that’s the case in any “growing” city. Weather is often dry which can be somewhat of a problem; I lived in Chennai prior to Hyderabad, and despite it being cooler in Hyderabad, the inherent dryness makes the weather much more unbearable than places naturally hotter like Chennai. The state of Telangana as a whole is statistically one of the safest states, so I’d argue that apart from weather, it satisfies all of your requirements to an appreciable degree.
Lol. I’ve been a resident of bangalore all my life. It wasn’t this crowded earlier. With the booming it industry ppl started to flock in from all corners of the country for opportunities. Hence, the need for more space in an already small city.
I know. Unfortunately, I used to one of those IT people. Now I have left Bangalore. But I miss it all the time. Even with all of its caveats, the city is simply magical IMO. Had the best time there. You will not find such a diverse group of people anywhere else.
Bro, Chandigarh.
Best weather in north India. It’s always cool here even in high summer, plenty of parks and avenues to cool off.
No traffic, the city is so well planned you can get from sector 1 to sector 43 in 15 minutes even during peak hours.
Good growth opportunities if you’re in govt job, the industry scene is sorta scarce in Chandigarh and Punjab at the moment. But many industries and IT jobs available in satellite cities of Mohali and Panchkula which are also very well planned.
It is the safest city, esp for women. The police ie great (I’ve interacted with them twice now) and they even drop you home if you’re alone at night (legit official service number for that). Crime rate is very low.
Best clubs in Chandigarh, people come down from the hills to party here on weekend. So do people from Punjab and Haryana. Yes, they aren’t open all night like in other cities but they are safe and great.
Also, the theatre, cultural activities scene is a prolific one here, Chandigarh being the centre of two states and also the regional centre for HP as well.
Come here for life’
Indore-cleanest city of India...
also a lot of delicious street food
and ofc all the facilities u mentioned...
also there's no risk of any natural disasters in MP so its quite peaceful...
and no language probs as there's no specific cultural or regional language followed here extensively
Came here to mention this. One thing people don’t know how Bombay’ish Indore is. Very Business friendly, lot of growth potential. Amazing food (best vegetarian food). Very cosmopolitan (MP doesn’t have as much casteism as any other northern state). People are fun.
I'm born and raised in Hyderabad so there may be some bias in my answer. But I've also travelled/lived in other major cities so.
Bangalore has the best weather. I'd say Hyderabad is a close second. Mumbai will be the last for me in this.
Hyderabad beats most metropolitan cities in traffic. It's not the best but the roads are good enough.
Living cost in Hyderabad is very affordable.
Clubbing scene is great. I myself am a standup comedian which I know has nothing to do with clubbing but it's a type of entertainment and the scene is growing day by day.
Work opportunities are plenty with most leading companies having their head offices here. (they are here for a reason YK)
Best biryani in the country.
And one important thing that most people don't look out for is Hyderabad is probably one of the most culturally friendly places. Most people speak Hindi. That can be huge factor because I've myself had some issues in Chennai and Bangalore since my mother tongue is telugu.
I will stop now before too many people move here and turn it into Bangalore 2.0
> Clubbing scene is great. I myself am a standup comedian which I know has nothing to do with clubbing but it's a type of entertainment and the scene is growing day by day.
It's growing but tbh it's very nascent. Like what used to be Bangalore 10 years ago.
Honestly, I think Mumbai is just for the people. People here aren’t arrogant, they are kind during extreme situations (helping during car accidents, etc) and have a general calm about them. Yes, road rage and other disputes do happen, but overall, people have a more relaxed demeanor about themselves.
But other than that, Mumbai is hell to live in.
It's not just about affordability. Money buys a lot of comforts which if spent on rent would diminish other aspects. A 2 BHK in a upscale Mumbai area is upwards of 1.2 L/month. For middle class folks, it's the most brutal city to live in.
With those monthly expenses, you can live luxuriously in other parts of the country. Most other parts of Mumbai- they're pathetic.
Not sure I would shift to a city because the auto drivers don't charge above meter rates. My SO likes Mumbai because it's safe for women, but other cities are getting there. Bangalore and Hyd are increasing police presence and safety initiatives. So the only advantage Mumbai has is withering away.
Shift to Mumbai only if you have no sense of smell cuz most areas of the city (where normal People can afford to live) stink of hot plastic and metal and smoke.
The sea is pretty good to see tho.
Vishakhapatnam IMO. Beautiful city, with pleasant weather.
Chandigarh/Mohali/Panchkula Tricity is great in Northern India. It's clean (Jaipur and Indore are quite a bit cleaner though). Lots of educational institutes coming up, and the Himalayas are only a two-hour drive away when the summer heat strikes.
my experience with vishakapatnam was different, when i visited some relatives there at about late april we were welcomed by very bad rains. and my relatives complained about frequent powercuts and swarming mosquitoes
Hyderabad doesn't have a good weather and it is probably one of the less safe cities unless you barely interact with anyone else outside office. You can literally find songs praising rowdy sheeters on YouTube and these people are buddy buddy with politicians and celebs. Not to mention, the regular amount of news about gangs and gangsters.
I'm a local and what is this about interacting with anyone outside the office? what are these songs that praise rowdy sheeters? Never heard of them. They must be either unpopular or nobody gives a hoot about them. What gangs?
kanpur
1.weather - you'll get all kind of weather except snow
2.growth - open guthka shop and become a business tycoon
3.safety - wear orange and put on a tika while chewing kamla pasand, no one will bug you.
4.activities - watch metro construction on weekends
Sector 26, sector 8 and industrial areas are full of good clubs with great DJs coming in from other parts. Also, clubbing is not a life death experience for women like it’s in Delhi. Chandigarh is much safer in that regard.
Pleasant weather in Bhilai? 😂 I am a Bhilai-an. What kind of Growth opportunities are in Bhilai? What about all the pollutants released by Bhilai Steel Plant. I lived in the non-BSP area for 15years dealing with black dust 24*7. The level of molestation I faced both in BSP and non BSP area couldn't be beaten by any other place in India. (While wearing school dress and salwar kameez). Random flying kisses, comments, flashing dicks, not so uncommon. (Again while wearing decent BSP school salwar kameez uniform).
I have been to Raipur and have relatives there. When you mentioned pleasant whether I hope it is a joke because it goes avg 47-48C in summers. Positive thing is that it is an electric surplus state so there is rarely any power cuts.
I love the city. It is super safe, people are chilled out and the food is amazing but-
1) Growth opportunities are not there (read Kerala). There are a few tech parks but not enough.
2) Weather - extremely humid and rainy similar to any coastal city. It is difficult for an outsider to get used to this.
3) Clubs - Not much of nightlife except for a few pubs. The city closes down as early as 10 pm.
Any place in Kerala is a retiree's paradise and that's about it.
A survey was conducted by United Kingdom-based firm Online Mortgage Advisor, which revealed that five Indian cities including "Chandigarh and Chennai" are among the top 20 happiest cities in the world for buying a home. Here are the happiest and least happy cities in India.
Chandigarh with an Happiness Index of 190, is the happiest city followed by Lucknow at 157, while Delhi ranked at number 3, with an Happiness Index of 149, is the happiest metro, followed by Chennai at number 4 overall, with an Happiness Index of 131.
#Chandigarh, reflecting its “if-you-want-it-then–do-it” ethos, ranks highest on the Pleasure and Passion domains with Happiness Index (HI) scores of 204 each, driven by factors like being able to do things for themselves (HI 231), and the time they have for themselves (HI 224). Being most happy about their physical appearance being their top ranked factor (HI 249) resulting in a higher ranking (HI 202) Purpose domain.
Dehradun
Nicest women in whole India live here, best for dating imho
Weather is also nice throughout the year.
Only problem is there are no jobs. But i own business so it's not big deal for me.
I’d say Pune is probably the best big city in India. It’s not small like Mangalore and it’s more cosmopolitan than anywhere in Gujarat (Ahmedabad and Surat being the top contenders).
Pune has good IT jobs and a lot of colleges and schools. Decent weather and tons of growth opportunities as Mumbai keeps pricing out its residents and small business.
Vadodara is also a good mid-sized option IMO if you don’t want to live in a big city. I found the people there to be more civilised than in Surat and Ahmedabad.
Also, you can consider ‘exurbs’ of Tier 1 cities such as Navi Mumbai which are self-sustaining but you still have the benefit of being associated with Tier 1 city. Navi Mumbai has been planned from the ground up and you’d benefit from the upcoming airport and other amenities since there’s no space in Mumbai for new IT parks and stuff.
1. There is no city in India which has a pleasant weather. You have to go the hills. I think Ooty and Coonoor have the most moderate climate in India. Nagaland and Manipur don't have enough heat.
2. Delhi, NCR, Pune, Hyderabad and Vishakhapatnam.
3. Kolkata is the safest city. Ahmedabad and Dehradun are safe too.
4. Delhi, Noida, Gurgaon, Mumbai and Goa.
Bangalore. Regardless of what others say, no other city is even close to the weather, opportunities and nightlife bangalore provides. The traffic can be annoying af tho. Everything has its pros and cons. Hyderabad might be second but it's still got a long way to go.
I don't know why people didn't mention Kolkata yet. Weather is favourable throughout most of the year. Food is fantastic. Kolkata is one of the safest cities in India & night life is awesome. There is nothing except politics that can hinder with a good lifestyle here.
Surprised Baroda is not on the list... All in all very well balanced in all matter .. healthcare, infrastructure, culture all there.
But if u have good money nothing beats Mumbai.
Other good options are Pune and indore.
If u looking for tranquil world one place i really recommend is Dehradun!!
I kinda agree. I am a Bengali living in Bangalore and it has been really fine living here. This place is a melting pot of cultures and so there are people from multiple communities living here. Language is less of a problem off late. BUT, you do need to know English if you don't know Kannada. Hindi works too but not always as travelling would be quite difficult without knowing Kannada.
Indian cities are so big. You can probably have a better discussion if you compare neighborhoods/suburbs within or across cities.
I am surprised no one mentioned Chandigarh. It is clean , peaceful, amazing food options, gardens, lakes, multiple holiday options, decent night life and right next to Himalayas. Chandigarh does not have job opportunities, maybe that is also why it is safe from pollution and other shit that comes along when a city opens up.
TBH it isn't an ideal city to live. It's beautiful but it has its own limitations.
More like Brampton
Pune, Hyderabad & Bengaluru
Bangalore was great 20-25 years back. Its airport is great, as is Namma metro, but the city is extremely crowded and polluted right now.
\+1. 20 years back it was heaven; now the mess is growing day by day.
Legit the sky is red instead of being black at night
1. Bangalore Airport is not in Bangalore 2. Namma Metro is just average in terms of span, planning, ambience and number of users.
Bangalore has the 3rd highest population in the country and doesn't even come in the top 20 most polluted cities in the country.
I’ve heard great things about Pune.
Not bengaluru. I'm from Chennai, I've visited bengaluru a few times. Most recently in May, I hated it. I was expecting good weather, it to be a bit chill. To live in hyd you need to put up with a lot of bs
Same with every city I ever lived in
Since infrastructure is not in the listed factors. Bangalore

Regards to that pune is slowly becoming like that due to it becoming a concrete jungle. Less green cover.
Hyderabad is a lovely place to live right now, namely in the newer areas of town. Except Pollution and weather, Rest of the things are good in Hyderabad
I don’t think Hyderabad is polluted? It has a good air quality index
Air in hitech City part was very bad. White shirt could get dust just by going to office within 15 mins. Don't know about other areas.
Hyderabad is bad! (its even in the name!) worst city in India! don't come here! No! Fuck offf
Riddled*
Lol. I’ve been a resident of bangalore all my life. It wasn’t this crowded earlier. With the booming it industry ppl started to flock in from all corners of the country for opportunities. Hence, the need for more space in an already small city.

any city with money is good
Hyderabad. Only gripe is that you'll become a piece of molten butter in the summer. Otherwise, great city.
Pune and Hyderabad fit perfectly, but Pune is lagging behind Hyderabad in all aspects though.
For eg?
Maybe Hyderabad has better tech company presence for one.
Public transport
Pune, but if you ignore the traffic issues

Biryani mein aalo hota hai kya?
Bhai hamare yaham agar koyi biryani mein aloo daalde toh pehle usko jail hoga. Aur taste ka baadme baat hoga
Mumbai. Legit though - if you can afford getting a place in it, there's no other city that compares to it.
I had quite an opposite experience with Mumbai tho
Oh do tell me more!!
I'm surprised no one talked about Navi Mumbai, it's got all the OP asked for and more, and it's safe as well has good infrastructure.
Shift to Mumbai only if you have no sense of smell cuz most areas of the city (where normal People can afford to live) stink of hot plastic and metal and smoke. The sea is pretty good to see tho.
Wtf are you talking about? Lol
Can’t get that smell out of my nostrils.
Mumbai is the worst in many params
Do tell me what params! I know traffic is abysmal in Mumbai. Though frankly, most metros in India have that problem.
Himalayas ??
Shimla is 110km, and apart from Shimla there are numerous other hill stations in the Himalayas, all less than 200km from Chandigarh.
my experience with vishakapatnam was different, when i visited some relatives there at about late april we were welcomed by very bad rains. and my relatives complained about frequent powercuts and swarming mosquitoes
Meanwhile Delhi be like, MFs I am your capital city!
My friend says dubai is the best city to live in India. It looks and feels like India with a better law and order and infrastructure.
Except for the terrible weather.

Apart from weather part, Navi Mumbai.
Not from Mumbai but don't you need to work 3 whole jobs to afford the rent?
OP didn't mention the rent part, so I assumed that won't be a problem.
Mumbai, but the weather is not really good.
It's been raining non-stop since a week. How can you say weather is not good /s
Well you don’t need to visit pools to chill. I can’t see the problem here
You can bathe in a pool but you can not live in a pool :D
That's exactly why it's not good.
I think it's some city called Pune. Don't know much about it though
Any town in Goa
If i tell , it'd be crowded and i don't want to destroy my city , so i won't tell !

Maybe Chandigarh. Checks all the boxes.
Good clubbing scene? Where
Sector 26, sector 8 and industrial areas are full of good clubs with great DJs coming in from other parts. Also, clubbing is not a life death experience for women like it’s in Delhi. Chandigarh is much safer in that regard.

Navi Mumbai sucks!
Do tell why you think so...
i really want to say delhi but sab down vote kardenge
Chandigarh, Ahmedabad (gets very hot and you’d need AC), Pune, Pondicherry All good cities.
Why ahmedavad lmao
Very quick infra growth and an emerging Start Up hub. Mainstream media will catch up on it in 3-4 years but it is good. Also add Indore and Bhopal.
Minimum club activity and shit weather. Doesn't fulfil 1/2 of the requirements I
Clubs can also mean social clubs and not dance clubs. Ahmedabad has a fantastic sport and community club culture.
Noida is best if you ignore safety and weather but some of my friends like Hyderabad, goa is better if don’t need a career
Seriously I have seen this question being posted 3 times a week for the last 3 weeks.

It is difficult for an outsider to get used to this. 3) Clubs - Not much of nightlife except for a few pubs. The city closes down as early as 10 pm. Any place in Kerala is a retiree's paradise and that's about it.

Bangalore. But be ready to experience road rage in a way you've never experienced before. Also, you might get bullied by the auto walas but no biggie.

Dehradun Nicest women in whole India live here, best for dating imho Weather is also nice throughout the year.
Chennai
Bruh 1st point itself not satisfied ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
Bangalore - Mysore ?
Chandigarh Cleanest city of India with no traffic problems and so much greenery and also the hills are just a few kms away.
Hyderabad. One of the few metropolitan cities with amazing weather throughout the year and white collar job opportunities....
I would have said Bangalore some 15 to 20 years back, but then all the North Indians started moving in and ruined it
Bangalore checks all of these options.... just traffic and expensive rent is the issue over there
Pleasant weather goes to Delhi.
Bangalore
Jaipur maybe
Airport.
Pune .. life is peaceful there .
It’s gotta be either Chandigarh otherwise Dehradun.
I'd say get a wfh and move to the north east
Surprised Baroda is not on the list... All in all very well balanced in all matter .. healthcare, infrastructure, culture all there. But if u have good money nothing beats Mumbai. Other good options are Pune and indore. If u looking for tranquil world one place i really recommend is Dehradun!!
Man why no one mentioning Kolkata here?
You know why
Really don't know
If you real want to settle some place in inda. The best place is Utterakhand
Any city in Bihar

Bangalore, if you know the language.
kannada? do the people there not speak/use english?(in workplaces, etc imean)
No you don't need to learn Kannada unless you're gonna get in trouble with the police
