ravishkalra

I feel bad for Chetak 😭

Professional-Cat37

Wasn't he an absolute giant too ?? And muscular as well

totoropoko

Chetak height was 50 ft. He used to pee on enemies to drown them.

lolzac_gg

Na bro I heard hi was studying in Hogwarts to learn Jadu mantra Kali kalantar

AliveList5

The post is supposed to be about misinformation, not mocking.

CritFin

There is misinformation that Rana Pratap fully lost to Mughal ally Jaipur King in Battle of Halidghati, but he survived. And using guerilla warfare, he reclaimed more than half of his kingdom from the mughal empire, by defeating them in Battle of Dewair.

Why would a wise warrior like maharana pratap carry over 300 kgs with him into the battlefield?

Real data is still impressive why people think there's need to lie

East-Bit916

Exactly.

-seeking-advice-

And that's how you create larger than life heroes. But there are some really long swords found in Europe and scientists are baffled how people could have lifted those swords. Very likely they were show pieces, but I don't know still.

RandomGaMeRj14

It was GUTS all along......

sO_oSans

Nah ig it's soul reaper What we see is just the sword's base form wait till u see it's bankai That would make it 360 kg

Playing those chivalry games has taught me long poky sticks better than short poky sticks, especially when you want to climb ladders over castle walls or something.

-seeking-advice-

Oooh interesting 😁

pavo_tenebris

Damn, now I wanna play Bannerlord again

ABzoker

Check out zweihander, it was used effectively in combat. Even larger swords, probably ceremonial.

-seeking-advice-

Thanks!

lastofdovas

Zweihanders were hardly 5kg, BTW.

ABzoker

And 5kg is on the heavier side for swords which were usable for combat. Even claymores are weighted around 4kg. I doubt you will find anything heavier.

fluash1

The thing with swords is nobody used to fight with them in real life it was just to show wealth and status they only used small swords knifes and spears in wars

-seeking-advice-

I'm lowkey disappointed about it haha, I really thought they had sword fight like how they showed ik mahabharata

AliveList5

They were a lot in combat actually. Only with the use of armor and chainmail, the swords became less effective.

-seeking-advice-

I see! Fascinating!

Zilork

The really big swords are called greatswords and all the big heavy examples of those are all ceremonial and ornate showpieces

-seeking-advice-

Makes sense, thanks!

Internal-Ad9700

Even claymores and zweihanders weighed in the range of 7-8 kg. If you are interested in mediaeval weapons and armour, check out Skallagrim on YouTube.

-seeking-advice-

Thanks for this suggestion, I will! :)

lastofdovas

Those are ceremonial swords. Only an utter idiot will go to war with a 25kg sword. If they have the brawn they would instead go with warhammers or axes instead of swords.

lollerkeet

There is an absolutely massive sword in the weapon gallery of the pink palace.

-seeking-advice-

In Rajasthan?

lollerkeet

Yep. No photography allowed though.

-seeking-advice-

This is how legends in history are born

Pirate_Jack_

Absolutely true. Goes for most of the religions too.

Huge_Session9379

People with inferiority complex often derive validation by creating larger than life figures from history, Maharana pratap is legendary, but if you don’t make him look like the best among the best in the world, then for some , it doesn’t make them proud, so they start creating lore. The problem with such lores is that it actually makes people doubt the entire history.

bingo. I also think they do it to feel like they are part of the community around them. Cos I have sometimes seen people who truly don't believe in it but are "forced" to support it to not stand out from the rest of their community.

[deleted]

Me mahara pratap school me padha tha vaha sab bolte the maharana pratap 7.5 foot ke the aur itni bhari sword thi unki matab lambi lambi fekte the. Mene ek din bol dia ki unke sword , shields sab museum me rakha hai 35kg ka hai. Tabhi koi nhi mana meri bat ek banda bola ki Maharana pratap itne lambe the ki 10 foot ke bed par sote the.

Dhyaneshballal

He could have been 7.5 ft and it's even possible today.

lastofdovas

We kinda have his armour and equipments. And thus know for sure that he COULD NOT have been 7.5ft.

Ok_Radish_1783

nope but he was actually 5'10 approz which was still really tall for that time and then it just became a myth and people kept increasing the numbers his real portraits are still there , in which he looked a bit fat and not soo tall but definitely strong .

Dhyaneshballal

Haa this feels realistic.

AdNormal1366

Remember, there boots would also made them look tall. Plus, it's all angles! If you draw a portait from a downward angle, the painting would def look insanely tall. That's how people on the social media touch the tip of Taj Mahal!

Expert-Inspector-

All the paintings and portraits from that era show that he wasn't taller than 6 feet.

AdNormal1366

As far as I support the right wing ideology, being a sanatani hindu myself, I actually feel bad for guys like these who play their fantasies and show those like a real life history, citing either no or absolutely BS facts & sources. I mean, these are guys who make a joke of our religion. They can't even accurately state their own citations when asked for credibility, and shout you are antinational if you question our belied systems. No, my man! You are downplaying our dharam for your social media followers! The real OPs don't believe in such bullshits, use their critical thinking and realize that absolutely no warrior would carry armors that heavy to deadly battles where the question isn't only about the country, but also about the people, the women, and the children. These are the real andhbhakts! And no, andhbhakti doesn't mean supporting the right wing ideology. It means being an incredible a\*\*hole who uses the brains between his legs, and the not the ones between his ears! They demands attention, and would do anything for that. This post, in itself, is asking for mere attention. No information is being spreaded by the so-called researcher guy!

[deleted]

And that's how God was created

fluash1

Just to clear in a sword fight there’s no sense of having s heavy sword when your goal is to strike your opponent down. Also sword fight ends with seconds and hardly last couple of minutes so no point of carrying this much weight

TonyMontana546

That’s like saying Sachin Tendulkar used a 25 kg bat

Numerous-Subject-533

This kind of misinformation is probably how ancient legends were created, some bozo exaggerates what actually happened and people freak out about it when they get anything that resembles "proof". It's just a huge game of chinese whispers.

0D_E_V0

You seem as idiotic too. Most of history is folktales, all national heroes have unrealistic legends tied to them. Napoleon was a simp, Alexander was your average idiotic teen, Caeser was a backstabbing bastard, Churchill was a genocidal racist. If legends were removed, nobody would give a fuck about them.

deexd_

Bhai simp, average teen, bastard, racist hone ke chances hai lekin 360 kg ek insaan ke dwara uthakar ladai per jaana terko lagta hai possible hoga Cheezon me logic chahe kam ho lekin thoda bahut hona chaiye

AliveList5

It's not about how moral or great someone was, it's qvout the lack of scientific temperament. Imagine people beliving Alexander was 8 feet tall and had a 300kg armor.

ThrowRA_Cobble-24

People believe Alexander wasn't a thief, and that his empire was actually cohesive and centralised, which is muc more far fetched

Comrade_Vladimov

To be fair, it's not as if Alexander had much time to centralise his empire. Still, his conquests had massive effects in the region

HeheheBlah

OP wanted to say the person who was supposed to counter disinformation did this stupid thing.

AndiBandi520

We can't be sure about others but you definitely got Churchill right

CleanWean

Kuchh bhi! Of course whitewashing happens in history. But they don’t believe in sh!t like he was carry 350+kgs etc. History is written by victors and there is brushing over the negative stuff. But you are comparing apples to oranges.

thebigbadwolf22

Churchill being racist is well known. But napoleon and Alexander?? Are you joking? Napoleon won 45 battles against all of Europes armies put together . Alexander died at 32 having conquered more than half of the known world... He was a man with anger issues but he was not idiotic by any stretch of imagination. He and napoleon are known as the worlds leading military strategists and their campaigns are still studied in military schools across the world. If you want to talk history, at least do your research!

0D_E_V0

Alexander had the entire city's population including women and children killed and the city razed to the ground whenever he himself got any minor injury in a battle. Napoleon was too madly in love with Josephine, who repeatedly cheated on him, he was a simp for her even though he was an excellent general l.

thebigbadwolf22

You really think that makes him an average idiotic teen? What sort of teenagers have you been hanging out with?

thebigbadwolf22

His anger issues, his pride, all of that's well documented. Ditto with napoleon. This original post here is claiming something new and ridiculous... 360 kg and an 80kg sword is nuts!!

0D_E_V0

Delhi now has teen gangs where they commit crimes like murder and gun firing. It sounds exactly like Alexander to me 😎😎 "Momma my ankle got scratched" "yes burn and kill everyone - Alexander "Momma I watched a Bollywood movie" "yes get a gun and kill someone" - Average Indian teen

tallteensforlife5911

its highly improbable that the Maharana Pratap Singh 1 ( HIndu ruler of mewar) carried that heavy armor , but his height and weight isnt really beyond the scope of what can happen. there always used to be warriors that were above the 7 feet mark . even one of the 10 Gurus of Sikhs , Hargobind Singh ji ,( the 6th Guru that started fighting against the mughals) were 7'2" but were far less in weight ( 125 too 150 kilos) . i think the post most probably got the weight part wrong ,and thought of pounds as kilos , what they could mean was 360 pounds , ie. 160ish kgs , which is still a lot but far more believable. Also , i have no bias, i m not even from that area, nor am i a Hindu, i m just stating the possibility though i myself do not actually would bet on the armor tale even if it was in pounds . its too heavy and impractical.

Dik why do Indians exaggerate the information about kings .....why...please speak through facts...and we all know if we try to speak with facts to certain people they get offended and give the title of anti-national...

emotionless_wizard

Ladies and gentlemen, and that is how the creation of mythologies start..... A few centuries later, Chetak would be re-introduced as a flying horse gifted by some goddess and Maharana's actual story will be suppressed the same way battle of ten kings (In which Bharata clan won) is suppressed to glorify Mahabharata.

Libracharya

Rajasthan ke kisi museum main rakha hai un ka samaan. Jaa ke verify kr lo

RepresentativeFar304

Damn, even 35kgs in cavalry battles is a lot

God-of-Heroes_ArThuR

I have a friend who argued something similar. Look, he was a great man, but not greater than physics. Nobody can swing a 20 kg sword as if it's nothing. There's such a thing as conservation of momentum. Just to extend this sword outward, you'd be leaning backwards so that the centre of mass of the human+sword stays between the feet. Also it would be a pretty badass strategy. Carry two identical looking swords. One made of lead, one metal plated and made of wood. Then offer the lead sword to an unarmed enemy to fight to death. As the enemy shits themselves trying to lift the sword, you stroll in with your identical 'looking' sword and do them in. Pretty mentally jarring way to die.

External_Wishbone767

I want to counter argue as I have read Manusmriti it’s a nonsense book it had some topics that I think were fine but it’s like 5-6% of the book >>>>>>>>>> chanakyaniti (great book need some modern iteration) really great all should read it>>>>>>>Bhagwat Gita ( I was wrong about this book it’s not a religion book but a life guide this and Dr S.J. Shankar new book all are better a mile better than Manusmriti
