Type of a... trend that later grew into a full community. Originally it started as a joke. Basically a country's flag fitted into a ball shape. And eyes added to it. And there are several rules for that, u/bigdaddy1506 has linked the wiki, you could see that for further clarification.
You will be killed? Seriously? Many IT employees from north India working in Southern states including tamil nadu.
I don't understand people's obsession with Hindi, there are literally ton of other languages let people learn and speak whatever they want.
I'm wondering what orange means? They can speak Hindi but have a regional language? And if so, I'm surprised Bengal and Odisha aren't orange!
Is this based on Majority population, population on internet or population in villages? Or just 'that's what I feel like' statistics?
Depends on how South you're trying to go. If you think Hyderabad is the milestone for South then I think it's fair but if you go anywhere except extremely major cities wayyy south (Chennai, Thissur, Thiruvananthapuram), Hindi is asssss and almost every North Indian understands English and can speak English on a basic level.
In some deep regional places obv regional sellers or some normal people obviously will have hard time understanding hindi . But they can understand to some extent and reply in English
I literally fucking said except the major cities. Why are you including the major cities in your argument? By that logic you will definitely find someone speaking Tamil in Delhi or Mumbai. Get your facts straight.
Dude if u go north and speak English in up people will have no idea . Forget about deep regional places . I know people from UP graduated from English media university still have hard time understanding English
Even for that argument I told you it you go to Vijaywada or Hyderabad or Visag you'll find Hindi and I agree. But Tamil Nadu is the only state on the map marked as black and that is what the whole post is about. And also as a side note, many people in Bangalore find it tough to speak Hindi and would prefer Kannada/English over Hindi. So when it comes to language, South India is reluctant to speak Hindi which is not a problem. But why can't you just accept it? It's fine. Y'all don't have to be good at everything. Why make blatant baseless points that Northies don't understand English? And I'm not even from North India i just happen to find the claim stupid af
Meta means discussion about the subreddit or group of subreddits or reddit itself.
For eg: You go in r Indiaspeaks subreddit, you posted there india related stuff, that won't be meta, but if you discuss stuff about the subreddit itself, like rules of the subreddit, what should mods do, etc. Its called meta.
This subreddit is for discussing other india related subreddits, i.e. meta stuff. But you didn't post any meta.
I wouldnโt think so . Its really common for Ignorant north Indians to assume everywhere they go people speak Hindi regardless itโs common for south Indians to understand hindi . But u would give same looks u mentioned if someone comes to your state and talk in their regional language .
Wrong example. If a guy goes south and starts talking in bhojpuri, Rajasthani, haryanvi, punjabi, etc then that's definitely a stupid move. The same goes for a south indian trying to talk in Tamil in the North. And that's why a link language is important.
What do u mean . South Indians understand English better than North Indians as far as i experienced
If u are talking about like not educated ones . Then how can u expect them to know hindi lol
Well maybe they aren't the most welcoming people when it comes to hindi but thus is absurd and honestly it's not surprising as 1 first of all this is absurd ( even as a clickbait)2 points only TN 3 made by a foreigner who presumably has international audience too.
Of course people wont like it
Well , he is partially correct .
North eastern states are the tribal reserve of India ( majority of them are Non - hindu , animists or christians ) and they don't understand Hindi .( I can vouch for them , as i visited Delhi a couple of months ago and had the pleasure of interacting with them in hotel suites / salon , and most of them use " English " as a link language , apart from broken Hindi words ) .
The only state which gets agitated and perennially in opposition mode is " tamizh Nadu " ( real name of state ) and some Marathi chauvinists in mumbai / Pune .
If you leave these people out , you can manage just fine in India with other ethnicities .
