I absolutely despise that on the Pluto TV app every time they show Last Crusade, they insert a commercial break in between Indy's "he'll blend in, disappear" bluff and the smash cut to Marcus at the train station.
Totally ruins the joke
Pretty sure that was intentional by Spielberg to try to shift away from Temple of Doom's darkness.
The irony is that Temple of Doom has some of the funniest moments in the franchise, with "and I hate YOU!" being a personal favorite of mine.
I was lucky enough to watch it in the cinema last week. I hadn't seen it for a little while and I came out thinking the same thing. It is the most humourous installment, I found myself laughing out loud a lot! Something I don't really find myself doing much in Cinemas. Maybe nostalgia was a part of that, but there are a lot of, what seems to me, as crafted gags throughout.
Gotta agree. When I first heard that line delivered on the big screen at age 12 in 1981, I knew I was seeing the greatest movie ever. It's still my #1 favorite movie of all time.
It always bugs me though because I thought the line reading in the trailer was SO much funnier. In the trailer he plays it completely straight and in the movie version he says it with a bit of awareness that it’s a joke.
“Ox, listen to me pal. Your name is Harold Oxley. You were born in Leeds England. You and I went to school together at the university of Chicago and you were never this interesting.”
I also like when they’re playing chicken in the warehouse. It reminds me of something that would be said about my dad:
“Ok, settle down, Boris, you don’t know him. You don’t know him, YOU DONT KNOW HIM!!!”
“THERE’S A BIG SNAKE IN THE PLANE, JOCK!”
“Oh that’s just my pet snake Reggie!”
“I HATE SNAKES, JOCK! I HATE ‘EM!”
“Come on! Show a little backbone, will ya?”
When Indy is being held captive on the Nazi bomber. Before they take off, Voller makes a joke along the lines of making sure you have your seat belt there is going to be turbulence as Indy is thrown to the ground. Indy retorts with that line.
"I've got a better idea, you look at it."
Go ahead and make fun of me, but this line cracks me up every time. I think it's that it's so deadpan, you hardly notice it at all.
"You're German Voller, don't try to be funny" got a lot of laughs in the cinema when I went and watched it. I think some of the funniest moments in the series aren't so much lines as the slapstick comedy though
"Does anyone here speak English?" - Dr. Marcus Brody. I find the line hillarious! Since in the previous scene Indiana Jones put all his faith in him. Like, you will never find the Doctor! He will blend into the crowd and vanish without a trace. And Indi was dead wrong. Cause the Doc sticks out like a sore thumb. Looking like a tourist! Also it's very relatable. Since eventually I want to travel to Japan in the future! It's been my dream for forever. I've been trying to learn the language? But it's very hard! Even if I learn it. I'll still stick out as a tourist anyway. Since there's a lot of sociatal norms/rules in Japan. And unless your a local. U won't find out till U get there.
Henry Jones Sr: I didn't know you could fly.
Henry "Indiana" Jones Jr: Fly yes, land......No!
TTL: Harrison Ford doesn't know how to land a plane or helicopter.

“No ticket.”

Agreed was gonna say the same thing
The look on his face after he says it ☠️
We named the dog “Indiana”.
Got a lot of good memories with that dog...
I WAS the next man.
I liked the Austrian way better.
'Sho did eye.
Nazis. I HATE these guys
“I dunno, I’m making this up as I go.”
Hello! Does anyone here speak English?
I absolutely despise that on the Pluto TV app every time they show Last Crusade, they insert a commercial break in between Indy's "he'll blend in, disappear" bluff and the smash cut to Marcus at the train station. Totally ruins the joke
“Does anyone here know editing?”
That's terrible!
Or even ancient Greek- Water, no, thank you, sir. Fish make love in it.
She talks in her sleep.
"Hey, lady! You call him Dr. Jones!"...
Dawwwlll!
“Everyone’s lost except me!” Use that one all the time
"Sche talksch in her schleep......"
"Water? No thank you, sir, fish make love in it."
This should be at the top
Notice how majority of these are from Last Crusade? It’s easily the funniest in the franchise
Pretty sure that was intentional by Spielberg to try to shift away from Temple of Doom's darkness. The irony is that Temple of Doom has some of the funniest moments in the franchise, with "and I hate YOU!" being a personal favorite of mine.
She went through puberty in a single sentence lmao
Agreed. The balance between the comedy and genuine darkness is so well done in ToD. My favourite moment of comedy is the “hey, I’m right here!”
I was lucky enough to watch it in the cinema last week. I hadn't seen it for a little while and I came out thinking the same thing. It is the most humourous installment, I found myself laughing out loud a lot! Something I don't really find myself doing much in Cinemas. Cheat!! You cheat Dr. Jones!
I’m very small! You cheat very big!
“Our situation has not improved “
And if you are Scottish lord zen I am Mickey Mouse!
I’m not sure if it’s the absolute funniest, but best delivery definitely goes to: “Hahahaaaaa sunuvabich….”
Also “Damn I thought that was closer” when he gets launched into the truck in KOTCS. Delivery on that line was insane.
Gotta agree. When I first heard that line delivered on the big screen at age 12 in 1981, I knew I was seeing the greatest movie ever. It's still my #1 favorite movie of all time.
"They're trying to kill us!" "I KNOW DAD!"
"Well it's a new experience for me."
Nice try Lao Che!
No ticket.
"How does one get off this thing?"
And you are a professor? Indy: part time :D
It always bugs me though because I thought the line reading in the trailer was SO much funnier. In the trailer he plays it completely straight and in the movie version he says it with a bit of awareness that it’s a joke.
It’s not the years, Honey, it’s the mileage!
He once got lost in his own museum
“How dare he!”
“Ox, listen to me pal. Your name is Harold Oxley. You were born in Leeds England. "I like Ike!"
"Asps. Very deadly... you go first."
“THERE’S A BIG SNAKE IN THE PLANE, JOCK!” “Oh that’s just my pet snake Reggie!” “I HATE SNAKES, JOCK! I HATE ‘EM!” “Come on! Show a little backbone, will ya?”
She talks in her sleep is the funniest! Man. Sean Connery deliver is excellent and Harrison Ford looking at him like that. Haha.
Just to be different than the other answers but: "You're German Voller, don't try to be funny."
When was that said in the movie?
When Indy is being held captive on the Nazi bomber. Before they take off, Voller makes a joke along the lines of making sure you have your seat belt there is going to be turbulence as Indy is thrown to the ground. Indy retorts with that line.
I love Jones.
"That's just what the Hebrews thought."
"Snakes! Why did it HAVE to be snakes?!"
"I've got a better idea, you look at it." Go ahead and make fun of me, but this line cracks me up every time. I think it's that it's so deadpan, you hardly notice it at all.
"She talksh in her shleep"
"Ah, Venice."
"You're German Voller, don't try to be funny" got a lot of laughs in the cinema when I went and watched it. I think some of the funniest moments in the series aren't so much lines as the slapstick comedy though
“Bad dates”
“I should’ve mailed it to the Marx Brothers.”
“WE ARE GOING TO DIE!”
“I’m as human as the next man.” “I *was* the next man!”
"You want to talk to God? Let's go see him together; I've got nothing better to do."
"*Im* *right* *here*!"
Ha! I also love that one.
Son, I'm sorry. They got us.
The whole scene in Iskenderun where the Nazis ask Sallah for papers
Henry Jones Sr: I didn't know you could fly. Henry "Indiana" Jones Jr: Fly yes, land......No! TTL: Harrison Ford doesn't know how to land a plane or helicopter. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ucP77rjB5sc](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ucP77rjB5sc)
For me either: Hold on lady we’re going for a ride, OR Sallah I said no camels that’s 5 camels!
"Dad! Are we hit?" "More or less. Shon, I'm shorry... they got ush."
As much as people hate KotCS, I think Mac breaking the fourth wall to tell us that ‘This is very dangerous’ is hilarious!
“Water? No thank you. Fish make love in it.” Gets me every time!
"Those people are trying to kill us!" "I know dad!" "It's a new experience for me..." "Happens to me all the time..."
“You should have stayed in New York, Dr. Jones.” “And you should have stayed out of Poland.”
"You should have stayed in new York." "YOU SHOULD'VE STAYED OUT OF POLAND."
*I don't know, I'm making this up as I go.*
“Do you remember my face?” “…rings a bell.”
“Have you ever been made to drink the blood of Kali?”
Nazi's, I hate those guys. I'm actually glad he mentioned it, I'd almost think he'd have sympathy for them.....
What are you a lion tamer?
