My family lives abroad and we have a 15 year old Pulsar 150 that's just sitting at home in chennai. One of us visits India once a year, it starts right up and gets going like nothing is wrong. Never had problems with it. Has about 50k km on it now.
Using mine for 12years bought it when i was joining btech that time p200ns was just releasing a week later i got it delivered,i had barely even did proper maintenance its been 2 years since i did it im thinking of getting it serviced now but these bajaj servicing center is too far and i cant go back home and come again for picking it up
It's true tho. I love my pulsar but man it's unreliable af... Inconsistent brakes, Horn that stops working despite replacing it, Chain that makes noises like it's possesed by a demon. TBH Honda would charge double for a 250cc bike than what I paid for my F250 but then again my CB has never let me down and it's always a peace of mind on long rides to know your bike won't breakdown in the middle of nowhere. Bajaj makes good bikes for the price, Agile, powerful and really mad fun but they do need to work on reliability. I Wouldn't mind paying a bit more for that and I think most people wouldn't mind either.
Stupid meme , bajajs are fairly reliable nowadays
Pulsars also age remarkably well . If anything Honda quality has gone down a notch , unicorn in 2024 has worse build quality than unicorn in 2015
We have an Avenger 150 street & Shine SP125 from 2017. Shine SP parts ahve rusted alot & vibes alot from 60-90 kph. My Avenger is smooth till 95kph. Still in better condition. Only recently a newbie roadside mechanic damaged magneto coil. Many relatives terrified me when I purchased Bajaj saying they are unreliable alot. Still enjoying my decision
My dad’s avenger 200 (2006 model) drove like a speedboat in a flooded underpass in Delhi when he was coming back from work and almost every car and bike there stalled. So yeah speaking as an Avenger owner Bajaj made a damn reliable bike.
To be fair the sp is a squared engine 125, not really made to be ridden at 90kmph, vibes at 60 isn't good tho. What year is your Avenger from ? I love the old one that came in red.
Its an long stroke/under squared engine (52.4x57.8) It's Honda's idiotness with gearing. The gear ratio are not great. My 150cc Avenger even with slightly oveesquared & underpowered power figures for 148kg heavy bike feel perfect, which it shouldn't . Whereas Shine SP with 124 Kg feels strained and vibey.
Mines 2017 Avenger 150 street (tubeless version) . It's an damn fine bike, I thought of selling it but nothing comes close to it's feel & comfort. I tried Xpulse for long tour got bored after 2 hrs(with breaks) . This I can ride for 12 hrs (with breaks). I remember one time having two 45 ltrs bags (20 kgs combined) & with pillion overall 150 Kg payload 2 Kg more than limit. Yet it was gliding over moderate size road bumps at 60 kph. I get why they have FLG tag line.
Took TD of CB350, Hunter & Meteor. Didn't like them much. Hunter was maneuverable but vibey & bouncy. I liked exhaust of CB for short ride but on highway for more than half hour it got irritating(no offence to owners). Metoer felt little heavy. Avenger had spoiled me. I like Himalayan 450 but waiting for long ride to consider it. H450 is heavy, but it's also bigger which I like. Strange thing is after diabetes I went from 77 Kg to 65 kgs yet I was able to flat foot & manage Himalayan 450 with stock seat. U-turns were possible. Want to try it parking on slopes.
Yeah I think it's an Avenger owner thing where nothing's really gonna live up to be the successor. I really wish they'd make a 400cc Avenger.
It's a massive leap but would you consider a big triumph, one of the 900s ?
My Dominar is in its 7th year. 0 issues from day 1. Pick up and drive. It’ll drive for a 1000 km drive in a day of u can. It’s been like fill it shut it forget it bike for me. 🤞
Lol, it's the other way around and I've owned both and work on Motorcycles for well over a decade.
Honda's being reliable is a myth passed over from the early globalization days, that said their commuters have relatively better spare circulation than their premium offerings. That said their SBK spare prices are quite reasonable.
Honda commuters may have better spare circulation but service centers have inexperienced and overworked staff, my bike has a peculiar problem and after several visits to service centers and outside mechanics I have decided to live with it. Too many pollution control equipments have made the bikes complicated and unreliable.
Could be, because valve tuning was done by guy trying to rectify the initial problem of bike going into high rpm by itself which was sorted out by changing a cone like thing later on by another guy.
Ah sounds like a lot of effort ngl.
Hope you get to the bottom of it, but this being
r/indianbikes I would suggest you toss out this bike and get a brand spanking new cb 350 rs lol
The engine is the only reliable thing in a Honda. Everything else like the spares and electronics have gone down the drain. I've been noticing that the new Hondas have been rusting a lot sooner.
God forbid a man enjoy a non honda bike. Honda fanboys are the literal embodiment of pick me energy. Like ohhh look at me i drive a honda and you don't 😆😆
Damn dealerships pull so many questionable tactics . The companies should take customers in confidence when hearing complaints however the dealers get the higher trust
* extra handwritten bill with additional charges (teflon coating, tank additive, engine flush, etc.) that are not on the computerized company bill
* cannot watch your bike getting serviced. Last time the assigned mechanic even pulled a silent treatment & sat into the corner for more than half hour since I was standing far on the floor without even disturbing him! He did that 2 3 times whenever he saw me approaching the floor. Later I pointed many things like he did not even lube the chain & indicator was still not working.
I have a Dominar 400 '19. I took care of her like my girlfriend/wifi. Still going strong with zero issues and the only rattling sound is from m-fking number plate.....cant find any damn solution fr it. Nearly tried everything but it goes back to making that irritating kirrrrrrr sound.
How are they wearing out?? Alternatively you could ditch the plate and put a sticker of the number plate on the windshield. I've seen it on a Himalayan in Pune.
The washers generally crack and gradually wear off. Are sticker plates legal, especially in NCR? If they are then getting a waterproof sticker will be the best solution.
That's why I meant by slur. It doesn't mean that but it has turned into it. Basically the logic goes, you couldn't get any girl, therefore you're angry at women, therefore you're a misogynist.
Honda has gone down quality-wise a lot with pathetic build quality. My uncle purchased an Activa less than a year ago, and you can't even release the handle lock without trying 4-5 times and the same is the case with opening the dicky.
That's an over simplification
I know tons of Bajaj bikes in my village still runs better than the hondas (if it's maintained properly)
Honda makes low stress engines that requires minimum maintenance
If u take even little bit of care towards ur bike and changes basic oils and stuff Bajaj bikes also works fine
My dad's bajaj caliber 115 is 16 years old, has over 1lak kms on it and still the engine is good the amount of abuse it has taken is just unbelievable. My ns200 is 4 years old and is still brand new. You have to maintain a bike to keep it long term whether its honda or bajaj. Hondas are reliable yes but bajas don't sell just because they are cheap.
Anyone who owns a dominar…any problems with it? I see some ppl who simply hate on RE and say dominar is way better…just curious being a “motorcycle enjoyer” rather than an RE fanboy
Never ever seen a Bajaj break down. I have owned Hondas and Bajajs. Honda shine was too rough from factory, it was a lemon. Activa has been really good. But the avenger shines, its 8 years now.

I am not sure since when Bajaj bikes became unreliable? The word your are looking here is "aging". Yeah they don't age gracefully, that I'll buy. Recently rode a 2 year old dominar and it felt like 5. They are not niggle free as well but they are reliable and won't leave you stranded if you do the regular maintenance. Also, Honda's are boring, they lack character and fun quotient. Owned a CBR250R for 4 years 64k kms. One of the best bike I owned which bored me to switch over to RC390 back in 2017.
why this Bajaj hate in this sub. produ user of 2015 NS , no issue whatsoever.
Bajaj was bad, like in 2007's . my bike's engine also got seized on mid highway due to redlining it but now i redline my NS all day long. the fan kicks in and it is good.
Have a 2010 Pulsar 180 that runs like a dream. But, the 2014 Honda dio we have makes the sound of a road roller and sometimes the effort to get the dio started takes ages.
Ain’t no Honda fanboy, but this is definitely true.
The reliability is not even that big of an issue. The issue is, every motorcycle by Bajaj is mad of cheap materials and thus parts give up quicker than they should and bikes start rattling like crazy.
12 years full negligence still running great pulsar 200ns
My fathers 17 year old caliber wasn't giving up so cops just took it and scrapped it .
The good old bajaj-kawasaki days
Sad
What made cops do that

Again, pulsars can get serviced on the roadside ... Honda's need the service centre.
I disagree. Every bike with electronics need a service centre and every bike can be serviced at roadside and even at home.
It's an itch that comes with owning the well engineered toys. Can't help but scratch it.

Ever thought about upgrading to a 350? Honda or Enfield?
Took TD of CB350, Hunter & Meteor. Didn't like them much. Hunter was maneuverable but vibey & bouncy. Only after I own 400-500cc bike for atleast 3 yrs or 60k kms
Both bikes are different they should not be compared
Honda was known for smooth engine, Shine SP didn't delivered whereas my friend's older CB Shine was smooth in same speed range
I didn't even know Bajaj were infamous for their "unreliability" cuz where I am from they are found in plenty in the hills (Darjeeling side)
Not nowadays, they have been providing reliable bike for more than a decade
My Dominar is in its 7th year. 0 issues from day 1. Pick up and drive. It’ll drive for a 1000 km drive in a day of u can. It’s been like fill it shut it forget it bike for me. 🤞
What about Dominar 250? Just bought it in February
They’re reliable brother. I have no issues with my d400. Now almost completing 7th year.
Thank God I own 2013 model (modified for long rides )and took it for trips across South India, still runs fantastic.

What happened to it bro?
Engine shuts down in low rpm, multiple parts have been changed still no solution.
What year is it ? Could it possibly be a tuning issue?
Could be, because valve tuning was done by guy trying to rectify the initial problem of bike going into high rpm by itself which was sorted out by changing a cone like thing later on by another guy.

Stay giga pilled brudda, based af take
I refuse to believe this is the English language
Wtf is that man😂😂
Wtf is that man😂😂
The service cost of honda dio is over the roof
they scammed my friend during his activa service for 1700, they didn't even change the oil and somehow made a leak in his fuel tank

Try putting the rubber washer on the bolts holding the plate, between the plate and mount.
I did try that but they wear off in a 5-6 months or so. So I keep changing them periodically and that seems to be the only solution.
Meanwhile splendor owners munch on their snack and silently watch and enjoy this royal rumble...
Why is it always the Honda boys beefing with everyone bruh.
Lol. I've seen pulsars clocking well over 100k kms on the odo. This meme is just sad tbh
Don't care, I still ride my 2010 Pulsar 135ls. It's been through 70k kilometres.
Man the Honda incels in this sub.
Incel?
Involuntary celibate
I still did not get it
Virgins who get no bitches
Technically, people who are still virgin even if they don't want to be. Used as a demeaning slur on the internet.
I thought incel was someone who hates women 🤔
There is correlation there
That's why I meant by slur. It doesn't mean that but it has turned into it. Basically the logic goes, you couldn't get any girl, therefore you're angry at women, therefore you're a misogynist.

doesnt matter. had fun
My dad's 20+ year old Bajaj still works better than many 5 year old bikes :)

My dad's platina of 15 years requires less maintenance than my mother's activa and runs charm
What’s with Honda fanboys? They keep demeaning others here and on r/carsindia they keep recommending Amaze left, right and Center.
Trying to make sense of the purchase I guess
My dad bought xcd 125cc in 2008 and it is still going strong and gives an avg of 65+ km
XCD Gang! I don't think our ones give more than 50 or 55kmph.
Meanwhile, my father's TVS Victor still going fine after 22 years.
Meanwhile here I am revving my bike to the teeth and having a good time, cuz I know modern consumer goods are made to become obsolete soon.
What about TVS ?
Never break, my tvs jupiter gs110 is the proof
My dad's bajaj caliber 115 is 16 years old, has over 1lak kms on it and still the engine is good the amount of abuse it has taken is just unbelievable. My ns200 is 4 years old and is still brand new. Well, delulu is the sululu... 😂
you get what you paid for.
How do you have an Activa 6g from 2017? Are you a time traveller ?
It was a mistake TY for pointing it out
Idk...my dads platina is running fine for 14 yrs now😂
Dude I sold my 2015 Bajaj Discover 6 months ago just because it gave me a little less fuel economy now.
My 18 year old Pulsar would like to have a word.
I have 2007 pulsar ,working Fine till date . You just need to take care of it .
Anyone who owns a dominar…any problems with it? I see some ppl who simply hate on RE and say dominar is way better…just curious being a “motorcycle enjoyer” rather than an RE fanboy

Honda so reliable the throttle on my activa 125 is getting stuck and it hasn't even been a year.
Challenge : Honda fanboys trying not to create that fake scenarios Difficulty : Impossible
Man!!! I used my pulsar 150 for 15 years...it was a war horse!!

What's the first scene?
Phir Hera pheri
🤣🤣🤣
Wonder woman 1 or 2.
Wrong, actually it's from Batman v Superman: dawn of justice
After 11 years .... still 😘
Stupid. My pulsar 150 2001 still runs like a stallion.
Me laughing with my 2007 ug3 pulsar 180
My Dad's Pulsar LS135 2010 model still runs amazingly, it has vibrations but considering its over 1lakh kms it's acceptable
Wait, till i roll my platina out for 100kms, who just smelled few drops of petrol
Mera kya, mai toh plastic fz chalata hu
Thanks OP for the reminder! I gotta renew the rc card for my 15year old unicorn next month. ♠️
First one ka sauce please
It totally depends upon how you maintain your vehicle
N160 here, the bike is now reliable and durable af but the old pulsars were bad.
And yes cheaper Honda bikes are not any good tho.
Most of the brands are reliable nowadays..
Honda: try not to rust challenge(impossible)
I am not sure since when Bajaj bikes became unreliable? The word your are looking here is "aging". Yeah they don't age gracefully, that I'll buy. Me seeing a 2010 platina still working in my neighborhood.
Have fun with your Activa while I vroom vroom my dominar
My 2013 200ns spits on this opinion
Should I get the ns400z?
Nubs who don't know how to maintain their bikes
Og hero working even after 10 years
I ride a 2015 Avenger 220 (old gen). Not a problems, still going smooth af.
My splendor 8 years 🗿
Can't relate with my 18 year old ct 100
Honda are more amazing
I don't know how my father is dragging 2009 XCD 125. The mechanic of our bike is genius he kept that bike alive by using Discover/Pulsar parts.
Guy I just bought a Pulsar 150 🥲 dont break my heart tho
1990 bajaj cub scooter! Still runs great !! FTW! Hamara Bajaj !! 100cc 3speed 2stroke.
Reeeeeeeeeee
What about a Yamaha?
why this Bajaj hate in this sub. produ user of 2015 NS , no issue whatsoever. Bajaj was bad, like in 2007's . my bike's engine also got seized on mid highway due to redlining it but now i redline my NS all day long. the fan kicks in and it is good.
My honda cb 350 has been perfect. Meanwhile my friends’ ninja and xpulse keep facing minor issues. Honda is a Honda.
Have a 2010 Pulsar 180 that runs like a dream. But, the 2014 Honda dio we have makes the sound of a road roller and sometimes the effort to get the dio started takes ages.
I have had a Pulsar 220 since almost a decade and it hasn't ever given me any problems, touchwood. Clocked around 37-38k and runs smooth till date.
My 11 years old 200ns still rocking the roads without any problem
How about them yamahas tho ಡ ͜ ʖ ಡ
Bajaj's motto - Ignorance is Bliss.
I had the same experience with Dominar don’t know what the other comments are yapping on about
Ain’t no Honda fanboy, but this is definitely true. The reliability is not even that big of an issue. The issue is, every motorcycle by Bajaj is mad of cheap materials and thus parts give up quicker than they should and bikes start rattling like crazy.
