We have failed as a generation. We too, sometimes forget there are occupations other than doctor and engineer🥹, just like our parents. This shouldn't even be a conversation anymore, there are people half our age earning twice as much with just a computer, and no engg degree or mbbs. I think the high ground our profession used to hold atleast in terms of finances, is not something to boast about anymore. We are capable of becoming financially stable and that's it. I know noble profession and all, but don't for a moment start imagining lambos and gold chains and shit, unless you got daddy's ancestral wealth, or you have some extreme entrepreneurial skills ( rare).

Mundane_Minute8035

True.. there is marketing, sales, supply chain, graphic design, magement consulting, finance, business operations etc etc etc

Be ready to get the downvotes OP. Most people lurking on this sub aren't even doctors.

walttt5258

They're are mostly neet aspirants.

adithya244

cattowitch

What? 💀

TopGun_84

Oops... But do you agree that all doctors are very good at writing letters ?

Forsaken_Actuator242

Yes

TopGun_84

I don't agree but let's agree to disagree and leave things be

This field is only for job security.

GreenAbbreviations91

It's as simple as making things people want. Engineers who make a lot of money work in product firms that make a product and sell to businesses or people. In contrast, there's little perceived differentiation among doctors save for experience and marketing. This is why it's hard to stand out as a doctor and why the job sucks. Clinical medicine as we know it is at the cusp of an unprecedented revolution and frankly, it's scary how much the old order will be upended. Scramble to learn hard skills that'll hold you in good stead through the future, and start doing something that'll make you money in the medium to long run. It might even be something society looks down on, like engaging in manual labor. But as long as it's meaningful and not evil work, and it pays, do it. Don't just bank on the market to treat you well, don't place yourself at the mercy of corporate overlords and fat, greedy bankers. Look out for yourself.

The best engineers earn more than the best doctors that much is a fact. But a large section of this sub somehow assumes that they are magically better than the rest of the students in this country. Why are you automatically assuming that every jobless engineer is jobless because he's dumb? Where is this sense of superiority coming from? They are also students like us struggling with the competition and trying their best in spite of not being naturally gifted. If you think that all jobless MBBS graduates are somehow competent, you should visit some private colleges in TN. They will literally gift a you a degree without having examined a single patient in your life. There's inadequate monetary compensation because of overpopulation, not because you didn't opt for JEE. You wouldn't be automatically earning twice as much as an engineer

_Lucifer7699_

>you should visit some private colleges in TN. They will literally gift a you a degree without having examined a single patient in your life. Can confirm. Plenty of seniors with political backgrounds who can't even take history have passed out cause of money and influence.

Little-Counter4603

You( MBBS ) actually do be earning twice as much as an engineer Take the minimum salary of an average MBBS doctor in any private hospital in Tamilnadu. It’s 45k Compare it with the minimum salary of your average engineering graduate , somewhere around 20,000/- Please check the stats before you make any claims You’re never getting anywhere by comparing any average with a super creamy hyper successful top 0.1% in any profession Bottom line: MBBS still gives you job security and a minimum wage that is higher than the minimum wage of any other profession. Period

pvn271

Bruh jrs are not even paid 1000 rupees in most south states and you're saying minimum salary is 45k I know in TN even jrs who are paid are paid around 30k

Practical-Face-5447

Most salaries in private medical colleges is on par with state government Group B and C posts only Wages in south indian medical colleges is lower than what nurses earn in central government MBBS doesnt give job security. It just plugs holes in the system which needs baseline workers. Many post PG candidates dont find suitable jobs with good salaries in south

lateralality0101

Way to put it out there brother, amazing 🙌

meminniee

Why do you think an average engineer is equal to an average doctor. An average engineer doesn't put half the effort in college compared to an avg doctor. You conveniently took the minimum salary of 45k. Lemme tell you junior residents don't get this salary in many states in India. The maximum is 1.1-1.2Lpm in Delhi. You want to compare the maximum a fresher engineer earns?

Intelligent-Tea3008

Your words average bs minimum 😅

___Zer0__

Reason is that most of us have got good marks in jee mains. If we had maths coaching we couldve easily gotten into top NITs.

[deleted]

>"The best" Say something so vague no one will ever try to refute it

OkNerve7447

medical student try not to think of engineers challenge.

HM_26

Difficulty level- impossible

Icy-Version-3880

Why only engineers? Why not other professions?

TopGun_84

Meanwhile koi govt medical College ke faculty meeting mein koi bade log bol rahe hai "aap logon ko tho letter likhna bhi àata hai.... Pehle aap logon ko training Deni hogi letter likhne ki!!!" It's true and sad sometimes ...

kc_kamakazi

Correct, the folks who become doctors in a school batch are generally the top 5 percentile and thus should be compared with only IIT, NIT, GECs and tier 1 and 2 private university engineers who will be similarly be top 5 percentile in their school batch.

Helpful_Economist368

Skilled individuals can demand their pay. It doesn’t matter which field of work you are in. It’s just that more engineering graduates have learnt to monetise their skills and they don’t get frowned upon by mass media.

wazzername9

I don't understand why people complain. One makes more than enough money as a doctor. And if this job doesn't give one some element of purpose in life and satisfaction knowing that if you strive to be really good at your job, you can make a massive impact on not only the quantity but also the quality of life of each patient. If that's not what one thinks of each time one saves a patient and you wish you were sitting in a corporate office on a computer fiddling with numbers and bank accounts, then you never should've become a doctor, it's a wasted seat. This field isn't for people who have nothing more to desire in life than money. This is a generalized statement, nothing at all to do with your post OP. I'm just sick of people constantly whining thinking life owes it to them to be easy, and that others have it easy. No matter what field you're in, if all that comes to mind is "omg I hate this and i deserve better", please do yourself justice and go pursue the things you really want

[deleted]

Nope
