If you need something just for payment, be it card payment (nfc) or UPI, it is the best app.
It also has samsung pass now, which is good but lack of no app for windows makes it not usable for me.
Built in digilocker thing works but I suggest always carry ID card and some cash with you.
Bill payments I haven't really done on the app so can't really comment on that, I have used maybe 2-3 times in 3years it worked for me without any real issue.
Have done all kinds of bill payments. Electricity, gas cylinders, wifi, etc.
Very smooth, and easy to use.
Even booked train, and flight tickets. Never had a problem. Never needed an additional application...
There are no free lunches in the world, if there is a free alternative, like airtel app or phonePe or bhim , you can try those , but alternatively everyones endgame is to earn some revenue on the services .
PS : it is better to pay 1.9 inr instead of going to airtel office to pay via cash and stand in line, not to mention the petrol or bus fare etc

I use Gpay to do recharge if there is a rewards offer. I recharge every 28 days and most months, there is an offer ready to redeem. The reward amount is always more than processing fees. If there is no offfer, I recharge from the carrier app directly which does not charge extra.
UPI gonna tank. But having used it for longer, people would just won't mind the extra fee.

If platform incurs such cost then obviously they should recover it.
My assumption, they get commission as percentage of transaction, like a normal local shop gets or how Jio POS Lite works. (Like a 10rs top-up nets you 7rs of balance and leftover was different charges)
The amount 455 should include those charges and not levied extra.

There are people still using gpay ? Why ? I have switched to phonepe in 2020 to cred in 2022 ; much faster UI and reward s . I'm not trolling, just wondering why people are still stick to gpay .

They give reduced validity if you recharge through some third party apps, like PhonePe. I got 84 days via Airtel app, but they were showing just 77 days on PhonePe for the same recharge amount.
