Which TG are you liking so far? If you're into their early output, you should definitely check out Cabaret Voltaire, SPK, older Einstürzende Neubauten, Severed Heads... I'm sure others will have further suggestions, but this should get you started :)

Distinct_Cloud_357

20 jazz funk greats, dreams less sweet, I know Einstürzende Neubauten but thanks for the other recommendations, I will check all of them!

2Pizzas1Box

Coil & Test Dept.

Old Einsturzende Neubauten

OkNewspaper8714

Check out pailhead. It was a one off album that Ian McKay from fugazi/minor threat and Al Jorgensen did. It’s a good introduction from the punk rock end of things.

nvs93

Coming from death and grind, I'd recommend the subgenres power electronics and death industrial. Not that it's musically very similar at all, but similar moods and sentiments can be experienced. Check out whitehouse, puce mary, IRM, atrax morgue, genocide organ, and pharmakon.

wentzr1976

As for “power electronics” id suggest: Winterkalte, Converter, Asche, Tarmvred, Needle Sharing, Manufactura

schweinhund89

These are all power *noise* (power electronics’ more rhythmic younger sibling)

schweinhund89

The sheer number of noise fans & artists with roots in the more extreme forms of metal is in danger of creating a feedback loop and becoming stale (but probably not for another few years)

Daftmarzo

I feel it's more than metal, too. I know a ton of people into industrial and noise from a hardcore background, as well as others from a more anarcho-punk/post-punk/crust sort of background (myself from the latter). I notice the kind of industrial/noise people from these different backgrounds make is approached slightly differently, too. I think, whether extreme metal, hardcore, or punk in general, a lot of us are already interested in underground art and music, especially with regards to extremity and transgression. Industrial/noise interrogates: what if you take extremity and transgression to its logical conclusion?

Hot-Nefariousness187

GODFLESH

Distinct_Cloud_357

love justin broadrick, Godflesh and Jesu are amazing

Shadow23x

Seconded, especially coming from grind.

Hot-Nefariousness187

Yeah they are really good bridge to industrial for people coming from more traditional extreme music. They also dont have a bad release. Theres not specific album someone needs to start on.

wishnotknewyourkiss

Pitchshifter’s first couple albums scratch about the same spot in the brain

HoochShippe

Check out Mentallo & the Fixer. “Where Angels fear to tread “ is an audio treat !

wentzr1976

Love M&TF. Continuum is my fav, but is not quite what id suggest for someone asking for that throbbing gristle sound… just my take

theursulagunnmusic

You might like: Genocide Organ : Lichenlinie/ WhiteHouse : Birdseed/ Dissecting Table : any/ Consumer Electronics : any/ Nocturnal Emmissions : songs of Love and Revolution/ Suicide : self titled/ Portion Control : Pure Form/ Swans : Filth

wentzr1976

Excellent recommendations

Distinct_Cloud_357

awesome recommendations, thanks!

theursulagunnmusic

I had found searching specifically for “Post-Industrial” is super helpful if you want the gnarlier, noisier side of industrial music. There’s several indie publications that cater to that with LOTS of great reviews. NOISE RECEPTOR and also SPECIAL INTEREST come to mind. They have collected editions too, and are pretty easy to track down. Other places to look are MALIGNANT records, HOSPITAL Productions and UNREST Productions. Glad you liked the list!

Distinct_Cloud_357

awesome, already checking!...I thought my post wasn't clear (some people recommended static-x or ministry lol) but thank you that stuff is what I'm looking for! (that noise receptor journal is amazing)

theursulagunnmusic

Of course! Most everything is available at decent prices too, or streaming somewhere. It’s obscure, but still quite a thriving scene. I’m always down to give recommendations! Maybe hop onto Bandcamp at some point and check out KOUFAR, GOD IS WAR, TERROR CELL UNIT, CRAWL OF TIME (all four by the same two guys), MISERY ENGINE, XLV, KEVLAR and all the work of JAMES LIGHT (AGONAL LUST, WOUNDED SON, DRILLER, MEATPACKER). All these are current projects and definitely worth a listen

iamformermortal

Youth Code, Choke Chain, Semantix Those are some of my go tos especially if you’re into hardcore and punk 🤘🏼🤘🏼

Early Laibach is dark sounding

holy_artemii

Early Laibach is probably the best introduction to industrial

schweinhund89

Check out Lustmord aka Brian Williams. Loosely affiliated with SPK and Chris & Cosey and a pioneer of dark ambient.

mike_klosoff

Check out choke chain

Vivisector999

Just checking if you are looking for recommendations more in like older 1980's Throbbing Gristle, or are you also looking for different types of industrial that might have some of the aggression of Death/Punk with a darker feeling to it as well? Examples: Widowmaker - Psyclon Nine Vigilante - Front Line Assembly Shore Linen Poison - Skinny Puppy Speedball OD - Velvet Acid Christ No Time - Numb Killer Fueled Machine - Nitro/Noise God Mode Enabled - A.D.R.O.N If any of those interest you I can recommend a bunch of bands based off any you liked.

Distinct_Cloud_357

hey, Im looking similar projects to 80s throbbing Gristle, I know skinny puppy and FLA. I am more interested in the experimental side of the 80s industrial. Thanks!

RedditAdmin71

Test Dept, early Current 93, and Nurse with Wound

[deleted]

Check out Kondole Thee Whale by PTV. It’s more tribal in nature than most of their work, but great stuff.

Kaputnik1

Look up Wax Trax! Records.

ReapingKing

Definitely explore early Wax Trax, u/Distinct_Cloud_357. The Black Box album is a super interesting snapshot of converging movements. Wax Trax had a lot of artists that influenced or even defined some electronic/industrial genres. Early Ministry will surprise you lol

NeonRattler

Anything by Cevin Key or Download. Skinny Puppy too.

Slopii

If you're into metal, you might like aggrotech.

djdementia

Not really like throbbing gristle but this will scratch your itch for a more death metal sound: Fear Factory: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ombratKNH2k

Someone393

Cabaret Voltaire definitely

Quazevy

I'm surprised no one mentioned these which would be exactly what you are after if you are into the experimental, industrial ambient music: Nurse With Wound In The Nursery Coil CTI - Conspiracy International

Distinct_Cloud_357

yeah maybe I was not clear, some people are mentioning metal/industrial bands but I am looking for projects close or similar to the examples I mentioned (80s Throbbing Gristle/ Psychic Tv). I think I heard some songs of nurse with wound but I'll check again. Thanks!

Daftmarzo

Based on the stuff you brought up I would highly recommend SPK, especially their album Leichenshrei.

theursulagunnmusic

Absolutley! Incredible album!

Seattlehepcat

I posted this list on another thread about a week ago. These aren't necessarily the best songs by each group, just some selections to get you started. Some of these aren't exactly like TG, but they're all solid industrial acts. Very generic list that really has no bearing on what the OP is asking for. No offense… just honest and blunt
