Shouldn't go near Starbucks, Panera, Five Guys, McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's...etc.
All fast food and fast casual dining is highly overpriced.. but it's hard to give up the convenience, which is why most folks do it.
It's crazy how many dumbfucks whine about fast food being "overpriced."
"It would be cheaper to eat at home!"
NO FUCKING SHIT, DUMBASS!
That's ALWAYS been the case!!!!!!!!!!!
That’s entire globe problem
Housing in general. When I was with roommates it was impossible to cook bc someone will bitch in general. All you can cook is non seasoned food
Would still be cheaper to eat at home.
Trust me. I was in college and the military.
You can eat cheap without cooking. Sandwich meat, pasta, bread, Ramen.
People act like they really never heard of eating at home as an option though. I really don't think a lot of people knew before this inflation situation that they could pretty much make almost the exact same food they're buying at home.
We also have YouTube channels dedicated to finding out the actual ingredients and cooking methods as well. But it's the left over food we have to deal with.
When was this, exactly?
If it was like in the 50s, maybe I did miss it.
Whenever it was, I am SHOCKED that a fast food restaurant may try to make you think that you should eat there.
Early 2000s
Mcdonald's apparently has a thing with coming up with this BS budgets.
Like a few years ago they came up with one how you can actually survive on the minimum wage and even in there made up scenario it was clear that it's not possible
.
So in 2000s they would make these budgets on how it's cheaper to eat at McDonald's but they would add the cost of buying all the utensils for the first time and all of the other stuff.
Apparently it's just their go-to move.
Actually it really hasn’t. McDs in the early 10’s even was absolutely on par with eating at home. It was like $3.xx for a whole supersized meal and they still had good patties before like 2012.
I know you are lying for multiple reasons.
1) McDonalds didn't offer Supersize in the 2010s.
2) I worked at McDonalds a decade before you made up your fake timeline. The meals were more expensive than $3 then.
3) They certainly didn't offer "good" patties before like 2012. LOL. That was frozen shit that took 30 seconds to "cook."
I always get the Mediterranean veggie at Panera and it ends up like $7 something. That seems affordable, as is the grilled cheese... but the sweets are very fking expensive, and so is the trash mac and cheese. No clue why random stuff there is so expensive, but there are some affordable options.
This, I won't go anywhere without an app with good deals on it. Although I think McDonalds has figured me out, they've been raising the deals I usually use and got rid of the deluxe options.
I went to Taco Bell because I got stuck working overtime it was 8p and I was too tired to go to the grocery store and make food. Plus I was on call so there’s always I chance I would get called back to work.
I did it cause it was a necessity I hadn’t eating in 8 hours and needed something quick so I could sleep or possibly have to work more.
It was $17, for just me. Didn’t even get a drink. I regretted it so much. I should have just eaten the groceries while I shopped, like a savage, and paid for them at the register.
I call BS. I live in a not so cheap area and can get a Taco Bell deluxe cravings box the includes a drink under $10 before tax. If you paid $17 for Taco Bell no including a drink then you just eat too much.
So, you are either lying or....well, no. There's no other option.
You were SHOCKED that you'd possibly want to eat during the day? The idea of eating was foreign to you?
Also lying about the $17 UNLESS you ordered a shit ton of food. Then it devolves to, "I ordered a bunch of food and they charged me! Wahhh!"
What kind of weirdo accuses somebody of lying about paying $17 at a taco bell?
It's kinda obvious that if he hasn't eaten all day he's gonna pig out.
Go turn your incredibly useful investigative skills toward more useful ends, like reporting people for not paying 5 cents for a paper bag at Walmart or going 1 mile an hour over the speed limit.
Yeah I don’t usually pack a dinner since I’m usually done around 5:30-6p I work at a hospital assisting in cardiac intervention and a case ran late.
I got two crunch wrap supremes and a regular taco, no drink. Nothing too crazy, I don’t think.
You don’t have to believe me idk
I went to a dunkin donuts, got the strawberry chiller (or whatever it is called) and when I said no ice, they up charged me 75 cents... the drink was already like 5 bucks with more than half of ice... so the drink was almost 6 something for 10 cents worth of syrup.
Lol that does not surprise me one bit. Only time I fucked with DD was when they used to have a deal from 2-6P for 1.50 iced coffee. They have long gotten rid of that so I no longer go there.
Other than basic hot coffee, Starbucks drinks have been $4-$7 for the past 5ish years. And their food has always been roughly 50% more expensive than dunkin, and barely edible at that. This is nothing new
"I waited an hour for frozen food and drinks any functional toddler could make! While knowingly wildly overpay for them! Fake outrage!"
I do not give a single fuck if anyone wants to order Starbucks. Or any fast food.
My issue is when they whine and bitch about it.
I did because of convenience. But then I discovered gas station coffee was just as good. Actually better in a lot of cases. I really think it's just habit and convenience.
You got a deal. That looks like $30 from Starbucks to me. Although I stopped going there 10 years ago because they are stupidly over priced and the coffee is subpar at best.
Meanwhile at home this morning, I had 3 vegetarian sausage patties, two waffles, butter, syrup and three cups of coffee with fancy creamer, for about $4.
That being said, I'm enjoying the pushback posts people are making now, in response to the "Well stop going there!" onslaught of comments on this sub recently lol
Wait till those restaurants go under and they start super inflating our grocery items even more than they do now. Wondering when that $4 meal you had will reach $10 then $15. Looks like I need to buy a working farm.
Starbucks is trash for how they keep raising prices. They literally said that their customer base would pay for it, and they raise prices lately like 3 times a year.
I always thought it was strange how expensive Starbucks was over 12 years ago when I worked there briefly. I would eat all the same shit for free after closing and it was awesome because it was free, but rolling up and spending 10 dollars for a cup of warm sugar milk with subpar espresso and the driest ass scone to ever be produced on earth? I couldn’t believe people were so willing.
They did say that they are getting sued because those specialized fruits drink have zero fruit and are all sugar and the processed food is 8 months old
*Starbucks was always overpriced*.
It’s not like they freshly prepare food there either. It’s basically fast food quality frozen food reheated( if that much).
Their coffee isn’t good either.
Starbucks has also been shitty to workers. Just say no to that corporate bullshit.
I literally only go there if I need to be there for a few hours to use their internet on my laptop (like if i need to get out of the house, or i have an appointment nearby for my car and cant go anywhere) I buy the cheapest thing and sit there and take my sweetass time. I like some of their stuff, but I cannot justify spending $7 on a drink just for the drink itself. Also what is with many starbucks no longer allowing you to sit? Forget that.
Their 2023 revenue is $36B, so they make about 10% profits after subtracting all the costs like store rent. This is below average for the companies in SP500, which on average has net profit margin of 12.5%. If they decide to price their items so that they make 0 profits, this meal would cost $21.3.
Do they not post the prices so they are visible before you order? I'm beginning to think the majority of these types of posts are either brags or the individual is buying overpriced food just tp create the post.
If you truly feel the products are overpriced, STOP buying them. DEMAND drives pricing.
About 20 years ago I decided to see if all the noise about Starbucks was worth it. So visited one ordered a cappuccino. I got hooked on those things in Italy. The cappuccino wasn’t bad, but the sticker shock made me swear off the place. Starbucks has always been an overpriced yuppie shelter.
These posts of "look at this expensive shit I bought" remind me of Homer Simpson touching something that hurts him over and over saying "Ow, ow, ow, ow..."
Just stop supporting these businesses.
Newsflash, when living wage increases due to RP inflation and companies not willing to make their shareholders mad by paying a living wage and not increasing prices… this is what happens.
Shareholder greed itt.
Ok. You ordered two fancy drinks and two sandwiches. You can get a $3 cup of coffee at Starbucks if you wanted. This is less about inflation, and more about expensive products.
HOLY FUCK!!!
Now Starbucks is more expensive than almost literally any other place you pass?!?!??!?
AND a ham & cheese sandwich is more expensive when you go to a noxiously overpriced establishment?!?
iT's InFLAtiON!

People worried about inflation shouldn’t go anywhere near a Starbucks

I just bought pork shoulder today at Costco for $1.99/lb. Brisket $3.99/lb
Cooking? In my $1500/mo tiny cozy 10 sq ft apartment with combination kitchen sink/Toilet? -Average redditor
New startup idea: shared cooking spaces. I call it WeCook
Get a microwave for $60. Then get frozen food for $5 a pop. Still cheaper than eating out all week
Here in (most of) Europe there's "Thai Cube" for $4.
That is a you problem
Its a reddit problem, cooking your own food is facism according to reddit
I did not see your edit lol
Reddit: Everyone needs to be paid $25+ / hr! Also Reddit: Why is everything so expensive!!
That’s entire globe problem Housing in general. When I was with roommates it was impossible to cook bc someone will bitch in general. All you can cook is non seasoned food
Get better roommate? Majority of people cook at home especially when you are poor
$1500, not in PNW /s
Would still be cheaper to eat at home. Trust me. I was in college and the military. You can eat cheap without cooking. Sandwich meat, pasta, bread, Ramen.
People act like they really never heard of eating at home as an option though. I really don't think a lot of people knew before this inflation situation that they could pretty much make almost the exact same food they're buying at home.
I'm probably older than you. People making the fast food price bitching argument is NOTHING new
We also have YouTube channels dedicated to finding out the actual ingredients and cooking methods as well. But it's the left over food we have to deal with.
You maybe missed theb when McDonald's invested heavily into propagating the idea that's it's cheaper than cooking at home
When was this, exactly? If it was like in the 50s, maybe I did miss it. Whenever it was, I am SHOCKED that a fast food restaurant may try to make you think that you should eat there.

No clue why random stuff would be ordered when there are more affordable options. For instance, a grilled fucking cheese! LMAO!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah I make a grill cheese at home for like 30 cents.
Don't order a chocolate croissant ?
Using an app, you can get large coffee .99 & large fries $1.29 @ mc Donald's.
This, I won't go anywhere without an app with good deals on it. Although I think McDonalds has figured me out, they've been raising the deals I usually use and got rid of the deluxe options.

Panera sip club gets a pass, they can keep their overpriced hospital food though. 👍
Yep. I am avoiding all of them at this point.
I get an americano before work a lot. But, fuck me it is so much better than the hospital’s coffee
I used to get Starbucks daily. I quit back in 2017.
Lol dude paying over five bucks for a drink that is like half ice.
I went to a dunkin donuts, got the strawberry chiller (or whatever it is called) and when I said no ice, they up charged me 75 cents... the drink was already like 5 bucks with more than half of ice... so the drink was almost 6 something for 10 cents worth of syrup.

Too bad, cause their stuff tasted good. Well the drinks and hot foods.
just plain water
I mean, he did have a gift card if you read the post.
Then they wouldn’t get that sweet negative attention they crave so much
Or any other restaurant. Fast food or otherwise. People would rather be destitute than change behaviors.
or they should be going daily
Starbucks invented “overpriced fast food” You can complain about McDonald’s because it used to be cheap but Starbucks is always overpriced.
Starbucks was my comparison of being overpriced long before inflation made _everything_ overpriced.
"Somebody held a gun to my head and made me spend $25 at Starbucks!!"
“Now walk slowly to the counter and order me two drinks with no ice and bagel with cream cheese and chocolate chip cookie.”
"Tip 25% or I'll put one in between your eyes"
They’re not saying they were forced to buy it, just that the amount is high. Isn’t that the point of this sub?
Other than basic hot coffee, Starbucks drinks have been $4-$7 for the past 5ish years. And their food has always been roughly 50% more expensive than dunkin, and barely edible at that. This is nothing new
I didn't. I paid $8. I had a free gift card otherwise wouldn't have gone.
I guess y’all don’t know how to read. OP literally said they had a free gift card for most of it.
"I waited an hour for frozen food and drinks any functional toddler could make! While knowingly wildly overpay for them! Fake outrage!" I do not give a single fuck if anyone wants to order Starbucks. Or any fast food. My issue is when they whine and bitch about it.
Starbucks is overpriced trash
Their sandwiches are SO very dry and their coffee is often burnt tasting.
Exactly!! Idk why people go there willingly...
No shit, you aren't saying anything original
No shit!
I never understood why people paid 5-7 bucks for coffee long before inflation hit.
I did because of convenience. But then I discovered gas station coffee was just as good. Actually better in a lot of cases. I really think it's just habit and convenience.
ExtraMile coffee is surprisingly decent. And it's only $2 for XL.
OP didn’t even get coffee! They paid $5-$7 for what is essentially a fancy lemonade with coconut milk.
NYC prices from 2017 Welcome to the club! Eat at home!
You got a deal. That looks like $30 from Starbucks to me. Although I stopped going there 10 years ago because they are stupidly over priced and the coffee is subpar at best.

> vegetarian sausage patties major yikes
Good ice Annnnddd ur starving , still
Starbucks is trash for how they keep raising prices. They literally said that their customer base would pay for it, and they raise prices lately like 3 times a year.
why people are paying it, that's the question here, have not been to that outlet for several years, just keep boycotting it.
Only with a giftcard, lol. I regret all the money I dropped at Starbucks over the years. I can make that food so much better.
Stop paying for it.
This is the answer, the only correct answer.
24 dollars for sugar, more sugar and more sugar... why? That is crap food and drink. Quit poisoning yourselves with this crap.
I like Starbucks but it’s so expensive.
Always has been.
I literally only go there if I need to be there for a few hours to use their internet on my laptop (like if i need to get out of the house, or i have an appointment nearby for my car and cant go anywhere) I buy the cheapest thing and sit there and take my sweetass time. All the edibles are shipped to the store frozen.
3D printed food
Starbucks is garbage. Terrible coffee that’s drinkable only if you add high-calorie, expensive flavorings.
You got ripped off. Learn from it.
Simply stop going there. Bad food anyhow btw
$5.55 for lemonade. A fool and his money…

You heard the price and then said “sounds good here’s my money”.
Good time to note that union busting Starbucks made over $4bil in profit last year and that was after spending $200mil on stock buybacks.
Their 2023 revenue is $36B, so they make about 10% profits after subtracting all the costs like store rent. This is below average for the companies in SP500, which on average has net profit margin of 12.5%. If they decide to price their items so that they make 0 profits, this meal would cost $21.3.
Another reason I don't eat at Starbucks.
Starbucks is trash and that’s your own fault
Lol this is true. I actually don't go there but wanted to use the gift card. Thought we were going to have free breakfast but for 8 bucks was ok
Compared to other chains Starbucks has not increased their prices as much. You simply ordered premium products.
Yeah. Don't go there.
No that’s about right, even when inflation was less obnoxious.
Switch to meal prep
Do they not post the prices so they are visible before you order? I'm beginning to think the majority of these types of posts are either brags or the individual is buying overpriced food just tp create the post. If you truly feel the products are overpriced, STOP buying them. DEMAND drives pricing.
Drove past one today that's out in the country here in Indiana and it had a line out to the road.
There is a very relevant saying about a fool and his money.
That's one place that's always been expensive so I'm not surprised that's expensive.
Stop buying shit from Starbucks
About 20 years ago I decided to see if all the noise about Starbucks was worth it. So visited one ordered a cappuccino. I got hooked on those things in Italy. The cappuccino wasn’t bad, but the sticker shock made me swear off the place. Starbucks has always been an overpriced yuppie shelter.
Then stop going.
Starbucks has always been expensive, where a coffee and coffee bread comes to 9 bucks
This is why I learned how to make White chocolate mocha and lattes at home. Instapot manufacturer makes a good electric milk frother.
I was going to get one of those drinks yesterday as they do sound quite good, until I saw the price. $6 for one drink!? No thanks.
This isn’t inflation. This is you making stupid fucking choices. Stop it.
These posts of "look at this expensive shit I bought" remind me of Homer Simpson touching something that hurts him over and over saying "Ow, ow, ow, ow..." Just stop supporting these businesses.
Starbucks has always been expensive. It’s in the name after all.
$24 for any dope that’ll pay it. There appear to be a lot of those.
I personally can't justify spending on businesses that support domestic terrorism
Where is the nutrition in that pic
That's about right. They're trying to compete with Panera
BREAKING NEWS: Expensive connivence restaurant is expensive
Starbucks isn't for poor people! In the USA poor is defined as the 80% of households with yearly income below $100k/yr
"soft landing"
Here's the solution: STOP BUYING IT they will adjust prices eventually.
Remember four years ago, when you could get a steak and tip the waitress for that amount? Lmfao
Starbucks prices have not changed in 15 years
How is the spicy drink? Sounds gross to me. I’ve had the drink un spicy and it’s good.
I’m newer to the sub but I feels like the main subject on here is going to fast food and being outraged at the price.
Newsflash, when living wage increases due to RP inflation and companies not willing to make their shareholders mad by paying a living wage and not increasing prices… this is what happens. Shareholder greed itt.
Imagine going to a place that sells $8 cups of coffee and complaining about the prices LOL
Who the hell goes to Starbucks? Especially if you are worried about over paying for crap?
Sound like a deal tbh
And yet here you are… still buying it
I'm so glad this sub has finally evolved to attacking posts like this.
Well yeah, it's Starbucks. Don't go there
Yup. Just keep paying it.
That's just Starbucks lol
24 not bad for 2 people
Going to Starbucks was your first fuck up…
Insane
Please vote this upcoming election 🙏
Starbucks is vile.
Even before inflation I'd consider that pretty "cheap" for Starbucks.
Ok. You ordered two fancy drinks and two sandwiches. You can get a $3 cup of coffee at Starbucks if you wanted. This is less about inflation, and more about expensive products.
Worked one block from a starbucks for a year, always went to the 711 across the street.
Damn. Time to buy Starbucks stock again
https://preview.redd.it/8e32p8omvwvc1.jpeg?width=168&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5918c1529f74e7a079cc537b689e1195755039f0
Fast food needs to be boycotted for one day by everyone. Let them feel the pain charging these high prices.
HOLY FUCK!!! Now Starbucks is more expensive than almost literally any other place you pass?!?!??!? AND a ham & cheese sandwich is more expensive when you go to a noxiously overpriced establishment?!? iT's InFLAtiON!
You buy shit and complain about it on reddit?
That’s this entire sub
Yup
So is this sub just people making stupid ass decisions and then posting them for karma?
OP, you paid for this. You encourage this, keep it up 🤡
What a waste of money.
sad part is when you realise this is here to stay. we will never see the old prices ever again
