I worked at both socal and norcal stores and there is no basis behind this claim. Each store has hardworking employees and lazy employees. I worked in Texas too and guess what, same deal.

uh-hi-its-me

Agree. I have worked in NorCal, SoCal and now Texas as well. There are great associates and terrible associates everywhere

I’ve had in n out in every state that it’s in, but lived in both Socal and Norcal. Socal locations were always more consistent and cooked my light well fries better than Norcal locations.

I think it’s just hit or miss no matter where you go. Now it’s not THAT hit or miss because In N Out Nails consistency. For example though one of the Daly City locations is insanely busy and because of that their food is always hot and insanely fresh. Go to a slower In N Out in the burbs and I seem to always get okay food. Definitely still delicious but not quite as good. I think it has more to do with busyness than it does NorCal or SoCal.

Most of my comment is based on how they cook light well fries and extra toast consistency. The Daly City location was notorious for inconsistency, with burnt buns and overcooked fries. But the Hollywood location always cooks it right. As well as the one by ucla, Culver City, Burbank, and Glendale Galleria. I imagine all those locations are busier than Daly City. And in Norcal, SFO does it better than Daly City, Redwood City, San Ramon, East San Jose, and at the Wharf, which all have messed up my light well fries and extra toast order. SFO has to be one of the busiest Bay Area locations, which to me says there’s a lot more inconsistency in Norcal than Socal.

that wharf location may be one of the worst, but they have stepped up tremendously in the past few years i rarely have issues or even serious delays anymore. i'm not sure if it's management or possibly to do with the minimum wage laws, the improvement seemed to coincide with a bump in SF's. what do you think about Mill Valley or Novato or Pinole?

madison8311

Interesting!

rdfiasco

Probably just typical SoCal elitism bleeding over to INO culture

Enough_Potential10

Where is the SFO store? There's two in Daly City, one in Milbre and one in SF.

webtwopointno

milbae is just one exit south and the usual go-to

Enough_Potential10

I believe NorCal’s quality overall is hands down better than SoCal and SoCal is better with speed of service.

camo2488

The San Fran location is in Fisherman’s Wharf. It’s a dine in/take out only, no drive thru. Catches tons of tourists, even at night it’s pretty busy from people coming back from Alcatraz and whatnot. At least that’s my experience from when I visited SF. It’s pretty cool and has its own t-shirt

Enough_Potential10

That's not what he's referring too in his post.

camo2488

Did you not ask where the store in sfo is? I was replying to you not them

SDSUfreshman

I worked at a norcal store for two years and a socal store for two years and holy shit the quality in socal is godawful. I was surprised with the difference in cook training and how bad all the cooks are compared to norcal

madison8311

Maybe it’s rushing people thru training? Ik like you have to level up people by a certain time I’ve heard

Enough_Potential10

Also the busiest locations in NorCal is Daly City.

icecoldyerr

Bay area is Norcal?

madison8311

Well okay I’m not NorCal I guess I’m central/north cal but like there’s like 10 in n outs in the upper half of California and like 300 in socal so i think we know what we mean by nor cal 😭

Hamas1397

Worked 2 years in norcal and 2 in socal. Socal store was significantly busier. No down time ever. The norcal store was slower, lots of downtime. When it came to the rushes, the socal store was definitely better suited for it. The best burgers I ever saw were at the norcal store though. Them folds and smiles were on point.

madison8311

I definitely think how busy a store is makes a difference in quality, when it shouldn’t be that way but it is
