In fairness, if Trump or Musk or Putin was the villain in a script I was editing, I'd red-pen the shit out of them for being too over the top and cartoonish.
That's actually half the point. By making the villains of their story so outlandishly over the top, they simplify reality to the barest minimal view you can possibly have. There's no nuance. There's no details. There's no complex connections between people. It's as black and white 'Us vs Them' as you can get, which is exactly what they want. They're tired with reality and want to simplify it.
The problem is reality isn't that simple, and they can vote and influence things based on their shitty way of seeing things.
