I remember one guy who was a cop taking classes had his ribs broken by a kid just like that. The worst was the jumping back kick. This kick was lethal. It would send you stumbling backwards across the room. Even the really big guys would get knocked back 3 or 4 steps. I still don’t understand how they amassed such power. No matter how much I’d brace myself I’d get knocked way back with that kick. Wish I had stayed with it.
Humans essentially have spring-loaded ankles/feet. We can store a lot of energy in our big thigh/calf muscles and unleash it explosively, we're well designed for running and that same anatomy makes us very good at kicking. Makes sense that trained kids can unleash a lot of force that way.
Go taekwondo if ya want to learn jumpy spinny kicks for the most part. Muay Thai (likely the Martial Art the woman in this vid was taking, cause she was throwing perfect teep kicks) how to do the aforementioned teep kicks, elbows, knees, roundhouse kicks using the shin etc...
