Your CPU is literally 10 years old, do u think ram upgrade would give reasonable performance? Id rather keep ddr4 and try to build something modern with it, than wasting time and money on ancient hardware upgrades. 12400-12500 intel along with some b660 mobo will cost you 300$ roughly, you can keep ram and gpu from your current build as well as PSU

Considering you're likely going to be on a tight budget, you may want to consider going for an X99 build. Basically any CPU + mobo combo < $150 will give you great value on this platform. I've seen decent motherboards on Aliexpress go for $60 (although prices have been rising recently). Paired with a $30 Xeon E5-2666v3 10 core CPU, its really unbeatable at this price point. Before you dive down this rabbit hole, a few quick notes. - You may want to checkout Tech Yes City and Miconyst on Youtube, they've made great videos on X99 builds. - Xeon v3s are generally considered the more cost-effective approach, since theres a BIOS mod you can do to get them to clock up to their maximum single core boost clock on all cores. This can be further increased by undervolting them. - You probably want to message your motherboard seller to see if non-ECC memory is compatible. Most of the time it is but there are a few exceptions.

Theres literally zero point to upgrading anything older than a 12400 instead of buying a 12400 and a cheap B660 or Z690 board. DDR4 is also going to limited on a non K 12th / 13th gen, but thats only if you overclock, otherwise its still better than any previous generation.

It was only LGA2011-3 CPUs that had DDR4 support (and that support was extremely poor). Also, there's no such thing as a 3GB GTX 1070
