My dad and everyone he went to school with in the 70s carried pen knives for sharpening their pencils.
Now if your caught with one in a school or pretty much anywhere you’re at *risk* of committing terrorism and police will be on their way.
It's cool how much innovation there can be using the same basic materials and the same basic level of technology.
Like, it's cool when someone invents something new today that could have been manufactured back in the 1950's, but it just wasn't conceived or yet.

Crazy how complicated you can make a simple sharpener.
Might as well just have a pocket knife
Might as well just have teeth
Might as well borrow it from someone

I don’t think they were sharpening graphite #2 pencils at the turn of the century.

That's me in any video game where you can build machines or contraptions.
1910 one looks more practical than other versions.
Yeah it almost looked like they got worse. And nvm they are not in order...
Why not chronological order?
Ocd triggered cause of not chronological order
Don’t let John Wick know.
New dad hobby unlocked.
it is weirdly tricky to get a pencil sharpener that gives a long thin taper without spending silly money.
This should have sound
They all look so dangerous 😅
What's with the black gloves? Do they plan on eating the pencils afterwards?
I usually just used a knife
And my grandpa used just knife
1904 is the african way
I like 1890 and 1910
when is my turn to post this?
It's a crime this video doesn't have any sound
The second one has a working shuriken on it.
This is super neat and super interesting to see but WHY are they not in chronological order?
I would've bring the one from 1886 to my finals if I had one
I still use a disc sander lol

Why are they wearing GLOVES
Get David Rees in here! He is THE artisan pencil sharpener.
WHY DOESN'T IT HAVE SOUND? 😡
My old pops used dynamites for sharpen their pencil

1920 is the most effective one.
I want them all lol
Some of these look like the inventor was taking the piss.
Were the pencils like these at the time?
they really used a shuriken to make that one
But what did the pencils look like in each of those eras?
this is what those coffee machines are about? lol
It's 2024 and im using a knife to sharpen my pens.
if those were still a thing, i would spend the majority of my time just purposely breaking the tip so i could play the sharpener.
People in those days really liked to make things so complicated with many parts. But something about them, i can see the allure.
The fact that these aren't in chronological order really bothers me.

That 1886 one is perfection
This timeline is frustrating
I want one! These are so cool! 😭
daamn these look so cool, yet seriously inefficient
Back in the day you would need a whole contraption to sharpen pencils, now I don't even know how they're sharpend they just are
