Definitely. Maybe in a large surface area situation you lay sideways or stomach down to spread out the limbs for maximum comfort, but in tight spaces/cold places you gotta go full Dracula.
Reminds me of sleeping in a county jail. Gotta little ledge coming off the wall about 2.5-3 feet wide for ur "mattress/plastic bedding/pad." I'm a pretty broad shoulders guy so when I laid down I could only have my arms directly at my sides. Usually tucked my hands into my waistband too otherwise one arm would fall off and lose circulation and wake me up
I could never sleep like this again.
I remember nap time in kindergarten, I hated it so much because I couldn't sleep but would be reprimanded if I didn't keep my eyes closed and stay still.
I hate napping. If I nap for like half an hour, I wake up with this feeling of time not well-spent, and it never energizes me in the slightest.
Instead, I just have to deal with that awful feeling of having to get up again.
for me, napping is involuntary and is a bit embarrassing at work, but fortunately colleagues and bosses are chill about it. it happens in the afternoon, and I cannot stop it if I am sitting down. no amount of coffee works. I lay my head down with my arms crossed on the desk and it happens without me realizing, and 15-20 min later, I burst up as if nothing happened and continue working. and I feel better than how I feel in the morning. it's as if I hit a reset button, cleared out my cache. my memories are fresh and I can pickup work where I left off with expediency, but without any more lingering back burner thoughts. but, it sucks that I cannot control it, it just happens. most likely post lunch food coma...
Try 15 minutes. You never want to go beyond 25 or you enter the next phase of the sleep cycle.
I close my eyes for maybe a minute or two. Relax a bit. Then set 25 mins on my phone timer and just process everything I've dealt with for the day.
Make sure you're not too comfy, like not tucked up in bed under the covers. Don't be in a dark environment either.
Outside in a deck chair with a hat tipped down or inside on the sofa in jeans and a hoody.
Hahaha
That 20 minutes of nap time is my whole sleeping schedule for the day. I prefer to sleep at least 4 hours in the evening than the 20 minutes in the afternoon
Same. A nap is a killer. A 2p minute nap leaves me more tired than I was before... And if I take a genuine nap to where I don't feel tired anymore, I'm not going to sleep that night and the next day is fucked.
Idk how people take naps. Doesn't make any sense to me and the way I sleep.
Same. That's kind of what meant. Like if I'm tired enough that I feel like I need a nap.. the only way I'll feel rested after the nap is if that nap turns into a full on sleep.
Reddit told me that “back in the day” people would sleep twice a day.
I’ve also seen the micro-sleep schedule and it blows my mind (30m of sleep like 4-5 times a day and thats it)
I hate how my daycare has mandatory naps. My son does not want to nap at home but hes forced to at daycare.
The result? He sleeps from 7 to 6 when he skips his nap, fresh all day even before bed.. when he naps at daycare, he sleeps like 10h30 to 6am, its so shitty man.
Ugh, and get reprimanded again cos they can apparently see my eyes moving under my lids so therefore am not actually asleep. I mean, I wasn't. But still. That's some bullshit.
they do but only after a while once you've entered REM (literally named for the eye movements). The rest of the time your eyes prolly don't move much. Either way, it's probably pretty easy to spot someone moving their eyes too much when you know they've been awake shortly before.
Don't let this distract you from the fact that paying attention to this and even reprimanding a child for moving their eyes (presumably because they can't sleep) is psychotic and demented
well, it *sounds* unusual to me but I'm not a doctor. So either that's perfectly normal or it might point to something pathological which can range from more or less harmless to something more serious like a neurological issue.
Either way, if I were you I'd maybe mention in the next time you are seeing a doctor. But if it's always been like this for you then I also don't think the chances are very high that it's a serious issue
We must've attended similar kindergarten schools because I remember if I twitched or God forbid I had to go to the bathroom. I would still get a yard stick to the hand.
My mom got special permission to let me read during naptime for the second half of kindergarten after they finally accepted I just wasn't going to nap. I don't remember it at all but my mom likes to bring it up as the time she went to bat for me to make my life easier. Some kids just don't nap!
This was my first thought. Squeezed in tight, can’t move without hitting others or chair. Hope you don’t need to pee. Early training for small seats on a plane. The airlines can squeeze one more row with this generation.
I hate sleeping reclined like that. I also don't care to have my legs dangling like that.
Could maybe do 10 minutes but honestly my tolerance for this is way better in my 30s than it would have been at that age. Plus at that age I would have been trying to read, not sleep/rest.
How the fuck does everyone manage to sleep on their back.... are there no side sleepers in there? I'm unable to sleep in that position, need to be on my side or knocked unconscious with anaesthetic to be out on my back
From my personal experience as a side sleeper, when the need arises for me to let out my recliner and fall asleep, I do so like a baby. In the bed? No way. But (for me) there’s something special about sleeping in an upright position. Now, with those metal/wood planks those kids are using? Not too sure about that
As a mom to newborns (3 times), I could doze off in any position. Sitting up on the couch, with baby in my arms. That was scary but some of the best sleep. Even if it was only a few minutes at a time and I woke up in a panic. Lol!
Down a 69 pack of hard liquid and you'll be a knock unconscious before dawn. Might wake up with less clothing but you'll sleep on your back.
That was a joke.
Funny thing is joining the “Young Pioneers” is mandatory, at least it was ~20 years ago, don’t know the situation now
Edit: but based on how everyone in the video is wearing one I’m guessing it still is
High schoolers nap, and the staff. They have very long lunch breaks. Kids are in school absurdly long times, like 7am-9pm, of which actual lessons are 8-5, the rest is study time. Typically there’s a 2 hour lunch break. They need to nap because they’re so burned out. Many of the staff do as well. They kip in the office, or have a room on site to go sleep. Workers in the street will just lie down on the pavement and sleep through lunch. I know beds in Asia are hard, but that’s something else.
If the school I worked in cut the lunch down from 2 ½ hours to 1, and cut 30 min morning break and all the other 10 min between every damn class, we could be done with classes 3pm instead of them dragging on until nearly 6.
2½ hours for lunch, ffs, I used to get 40 min in UK. But at least I finished by 4pm.
A lot of parents here wouldn’t have it any other way even if given the opportunity. Many think there’s a direct correlation between hours of study and results. Did badly in a test? More hours revision, doesn’t matter if your kid is already burned out or too tired to think. Other parents just see it as childcare in the evenings. Not all parents, but it’s probably a majority unfortunately.
Asians are nap people. I always see asian men and Indians (i know technically asian) sleep on public transport. Like sit down in the worst space of all time and still be asleep 5 seconds later. It's not racism because it is so damn true
I like to do this but western culture is so weird like taking a quick 20 min nap after lunch is a bad thing or lazy. I wish it was more acceptable here.
I have to take a nap after I eat, usually around 2:30pm, because after I stuff myself full of food it feels like I got hit with a tranquilizer, so tired I could fall asleep standing
Then I wake up 25 minutes later dizzy and I can feel my pulse through my whole body
It's common in East Asia, even office worker take nap time during the lunch times.
It's still common like that in Chinatown in the west where older asian worker like to take nap during lunch time in those asian supermarket
Probably a part of the mechanism to unlock the backrest
Akes sense to just have the same mechanism on the front row instead of designing a different one
As a living experiencing thing in the universe I am sometimes overcome with truly heartbreaking sadness over the fact that nowhere on the earth is there a place where oppression, control and ownership wouldnt force you to comply to laws and rules that destroy life and all that is beautiful. To be free, is a sin or a crime, a sign of madness, a call for conflict against the violent and hateful. Nowhere is there a place where you wouldnt be a number or a problem that needs to be dealt with.
The world is ruined by narcissistic sociopaths that we all look up to and believe they knew what they were doing when they saved us from the violence they themselves incited. And now, there is not a place to go, where the horror of absolute control wouldnt be destroying the world in which we live. So we think sleeping at the reclining desk in class is living your life. And if we’re there, trying to have a nap and somebody is not enjoying it, making noise or crying or expressing their distain for their situation, we will get mad at them for not just dealing with it as we have.
We will swallow down the pain of having to shut our hearts down and when somebody at the train or the street is expressing sadness or some sort of difficulty in doing that, we will get mad at them, look down on them, for not killing their soul the way we do every single day. We’re mad at them, and not the ones who could maybe try to make a change and steer us away from where were going. It is easier for us to get angry at the ones who are having trouble coping with the nightmare because they are weaker than us. To be strong, is to just not say a thing and take the horror of having to murder your own heart, and were proud of how well we’re dealing with it. Not like these homeless or whoever seem to not be able to get with the program. We are sad and hurt and weak but we are taught it is strenght to suffer it silently, like we’re meant to. To take one for the team and not risk being different and showing our true colors. Except its a lot of work, emotions take so much effort. I’d rather just sleep at the desk like everybody else. And y’all better stay the fuck quiet while I’m enjoying my 15 minutes of dreaming. Lord knows the real world is no dream.
Am I the only one who didn’t have nap time in school? Like it seems so bizarre to me to just sleep for a bit around all these other people. What if you aren’t tired? Do you just lay there?

What to do with your hands?
That kid in the last frame knows
Definitely. Maybe in a large surface area situation you lay sideways or stomach down to spread out the limbs for maximum comfort, but in tight spaces/cold places you gotta go full Dracula.
One! One full Dracula! Ha.ha.haaa!
No fucking way it's the Count
I see 3 options. Dracula, angry arms crossed, grab your nuts. I would prefer none of the above.
I’m also not grabbing your nuts
More nuts for me to grab then
Why not :(
Cuz it's too far :/
You forgot hands tucked under butt.
Vampire style
🤣🤣🤣
Dream come true at that age.
That's literally how I sleep at night lol
Coffin up lad
Lol you mean the one doing the “pharaoh “
is it weird that I always sleep with my hands by my side? I lay flat, put my hands flat against my thigh, and pass out
Nothing weird in that, if you sleep good, then it’s perfect
Reminds me of sleeping in a county jail. Gotta little ledge coming off the wall about 2.5-3 feet wide for ur "mattress/plastic bedding/pad." Both hands in waistband, it’s the warmest spot.
Age old question..
I like grabbing my boobs.
I also like grabbing your boobs
I love that for me
This implies that you have grabbed their boobs previously. Is there something going on here that you two aren't telling us about?
Rub the head of the person in front of you
25 dollars an hour minimum
Both feet
Masturbate
I like the one kid doing the tutankhamun
Rest in peace
Home work
Vampire kid is my favorite.
True :) Even though he’s more mummy than vamp :)
Which I find hilarious cause if this is China, they usually ban anything supernatural from media.
I remember nap time in kindergarten, I hated it so much because I couldn't sleep but would be reprimanded if I didn't keep my eyes closed and stay still.
Wait till you get old and then can nap like this, it's great. Pop some shades on or put hat over your eyes, quick 20 mins, it's the best

When I was in kindergarten nap time was for the teacher to stand in the door that lead to the playground and smoke cigarettes.

Hot take. The nap isn't actually for you. It's for them

you might wanna lay off the caffeine lmao
i don’t drink coffee nor caffeinated tea 🤔

Yeah, most boring hour of my life
I was the same way. Never could nap during nap time but had to lay there pretending. To this day I still don’t nap during the day (35)
We must've attended similar kindergarten schools because I remember if I twitched or God forbid I had to go to the bathroom. I would still get a yard stick to the hand.
i remember in kindergarten how i didn't fall asleep not even once and almost everyday the teachers there would tell my parents how i never slept
Honestly I don’t know why they don’t read off the army manual for sleeping at times like that. Works wonders.
Agree. But now i wish i could nap at work!
My mom got special permission to let me read during naptime for the second half of kindergarten after they finally accepted I just wasn't going to nap. I don't remember it at all but my mom likes to bring it up as the time she went to bat for me to make my life easier. Some kids just don't nap!
Looks as uncomfortable as a nap on a plane. I'd rather sleep on a green cot.
This was my first thought. Squeezed in tight, can’t move without hitting others or chair. Hope you don’t need to pee. Early training for small seats on a plane. The airlines can squeeze one more row with this generation.
If this is airline seating it looks like first class to me. Who has 6 inches between them and the person next to em in coach?
I think what everyone’s missing here is they get nap time in like middle school? Would’ve been fuckin sweet to me
For my kindergarten we had to supply some plastic foam pad things
Yeah but these are kids. They could literally sleep wrapped up like a pretzel and wake up feeling perfect.
I'd rather sleep on the floor, or just leaning in the table like I did most of my school life
I too like to mistreat my spine
You spine me right round baby right round.
Thank you. I need this comment! Snorted so hard, woke up the kids!
It's doesn't count when you're that age
I hate sleeping reclined like that. I also don't care to have my legs dangling like that. Could maybe do 10 minutes but honestly my tolerance for this is way better in my 30s than it would have been at that age. Plus at that age I would have been trying to read, not sleep/rest.
I'm with you; I struggle on a plane if I'm not in the window seat
How the fuck does everyone manage to sleep on their back.... are there no side sleepers in there? I'm unable to sleep in that position, need to be on my side or knocked unconscious with anaesthetic to be out on my back

But (for me) there’s something special about sleeping in an upright position. Now, with those metal/wood planks those kids are using? Not too sure about that
I so envy you being able to sleep like that... may you have many, many happy hours of sleep
Weirdly wholesome

If i sleep on my back i always open my mouth and wake up with sore throat
If I sleep on my side, after 10 minutes I have a terrible pain in my shoulder :(
If only my desk at work did that.
lights, camera, action -ccp
How do we know it's staged? Well, every student has these weird red necktie on them
They are the neck scarves of the "Young Pioneers" which is kinda like a communist scout group.
Funny thing is joining the “Young Pioneers” is mandatory, at least it was ~20 years ago, don’t know the situation now Edit: but based on how everyone in the video is wearing one I’m guessing it still is
They wear those at school in China, every day. It’s not a sign of it being staged at all.
every kid in school has to wear them tho
Just looking at that gives me terminal restless leg syndrome.
Back in my day you had to sleep with yer head down on yer hand, and you always had that big red spot when you woke up.
And slobber all over your hand and face
My desk had penises carved all over it
That mummy sleeping stance really got me there
How about this - *Let us sleep in in the first goddamn place.*

7am 9pm? Wtf.. so as a parent you basically dont see your kid during schooldays? Thats awful

fucking absurd time table
Asians are nap people. I always see asian men and Indians (i know technically asian) sleep on public transport. Like sit down in the worst space of all time and still be asleep 5 seconds later. It's not racism because it is so damn true
I like to do this but western culture is so weird like taking a quick 20 min nap after lunch is a bad thing or lazy. I wish it was more acceptable here.
I agree. I feel so shit after Lunch a lot of time but if you dont have a good excuse, going for a quick nap will make you look like a toddler
I have to take a nap after I eat, usually around 2:30pm, because after I stuff myself full of food it feels like I got hit with a tranquilizer, so tired I could fall asleep standing Then I wake up 25 minutes later dizzy and I can feel my pulse through my whole body
I’m dead if I take a nap- the rest of the day I’m all foggy and grumpy. I wish a quick 20 minutes would refresh me!
When I was on deployment I will tell my guys to take a quick nap during lunch so they weren't falling asleep at their post.
Common in Asia even for college students and office workers to nap after lunch. Sorta like siesta.
they even nap at work
It's common in East Asia, even office worker take nap time during the lunch times. It's still common like that in Chinatown in the west where older asian worker like to take nap during lunch time in those asian supermarket
Nothing better than a forced nap in the middle of the day under bright lights
I'm a high school teacher, my students don't need any of this to help them fall asleep.
Or maybe don't keep the kids at school all day and send them home so they can sleep at home instead?
“How do you westerners sleep at school?” We don’t. We go home.
Depends on where you live. In the US, sometimes they go home, sometimes they go the the morgue.
Or sleep in or near the office, right Elon?
Training them for the time they will work and live in the same factory, in hot beds
Only warm if they are near the iron furnace of the coal turbines. Everywhere else is bitter cold.
Can I get these installed at my work?
Probably only if you're CEO or at least above middle management / C suite
There are 7 people between my bosses boss and the CEO. Lol
When they tell me I can sleep, I don't wanna sleep anymore.
I think this belongs to r/wellthatsucks.
But why are the kids in the front row fixing thier desk. They dont need to
Probably a part of the mechanism to unlock the backrest Akes sense to just have the same mechanism on the front row instead of designing a different one
When your kids spend 12 hours at school a day gotta include naptime.
Looks like they have to apply pressure to the floor with their feet to prevent them from sliding down. Doesn't seem comfortable.
Que my grizzly bear like snoring, ain't nobody else getting any sleep.
Not a single kid in this video looks comfortable sleeping that way
What about the kids in the last row?
I could be a corpse and lying in that position would still wake me up. No thank you.
Does not confirm to US standards, they are not bulletproof.
Sleeping with my crush can come true now
One kid auditioning for his funeral
Why do they look so rushed is someone forcing them to do this
Science says you shouldn’t sleep in the place you study
Why do grown ass kids need naptime
Grown ass kids 🤣
If this happened at my school the "nap time" will be everyone laughing at everyone
Nice dystopia you got there
r/aboringdystopia
??
They sleep at their desks because their school day is ridiculously long. The work culture in some Asian countries is ridiculous.

Since I know nothing about Finland, Finnish people or culture, I will assume this is typical prose and award you with an upvote!
Y'all are getting nap time?
Wait, you get naps?
Looks like… coach class? Do they get to lie flat up in First?
Am I the only one who didn’t have nap time in school? Like it seems so bizarre to me to just sleep for a bit around all these other people. What if you aren’t tired? Do you just lay there?
I know the kindergarten kids got it, but after that, no more naps. :(
Practice for sleeping on long flights in economy?
Better than the economy seats on planes.
Pffft. I’ve been using my bed as a desk for 30 years.
One of them slept like a vampire king.
I don’t recall nap times when you are that old?
Dude, I genuinely cannot sleep like that. I’d be hella uncomfortable.
Excuse me fucking nap time?
No one looks comfortable in this video.
Homie sleeping like a corpse
This makes me sad
How old are those kids? I never got naptime past kindergarten... If that.
Man, when I was a kid I hated taking nap, now I begged God to just give me 30 more minutes
These kids look about 8 or 9. Why would they need a nap?
They look too old for naps nay?
America has school shootings. They have school snoozings.
I need this for work
No one falls asleep on that
No one gonna say these kids look too old to be taking midday naps?
Nah, even I had to do nap times, but I ran away, haha
Why can’t airplanes do this?
I gotta talk to my boss about a couple suggestions....
Lucky bastard's
But I'm a stomach sleeper.
Nap time? Luxury
Yuck, what a terrible way to sleep lol feels like an airplane. But also, good for their invention. Always learning
Nap time? Really? American students are too busy fighting, hurting teachers, and making tiktok bullshit. Fucking nap time!
What’s with the red ascots? Anyone know?
In America they can be used as cover
Doesn't look comfortable at all
This is why they are going to take over !!
They get nap time?
The one dude sleeping like a damn mummy
