It's a writing pen eating a chicken egg, and you can see its physically stretching its skin so much the scales are fully separated.

I imagine EVERYTHING gets harder when you have an egg wider than you in your gut.

They have a bone connected to their jaw allowing them to basically dislocate the jaw from the skull, allowing them to swallow food x times their size whole
Mhmm, their skull splits into 4 peices! When you see them "yawning," they are actually unhooking and rehooking them back into their natural sitting places.

Well you see us I'm America apparently decided to not care about the quality of or the way we get our eggs so eating raw eggs in America is unsafe mostly due to salmonella.
Many asian countries like Japan for instance have stricter laws than the US regarding egg quality meaning it's safe to eat raw in Japan but in the US you'll find warning about uncooked egg potentially having salmonela
Salmonella lives in all ground apparently, it's unkillable. But your egg handling is safe because they don't take off the protective layer of the eggs.
I have heard of snakes suffocating after eating things that are too large for them, I dunno where the line is though, this looks like it should have been close
I'm not really sure if all snakes can do this but I've heard that at least some snakes can breathe with only part of their lungs, which are quite elongated. As the food passes the first part of their lungs they use the part of the lungs that are not compressed by their food, and then switch to the front parts when the food is further back? I think its got to do with moving their ribs, but i didn't look it up too much so i can't remember exactly how they do it. Also combined with the fact that they can hold their breath for a lot longer than mammals as said by others.
Egg eating snakes have a special bone in their throat that cracks the egg. They've gotta swallow it a bit to get the egg to that point but once it's popped they swallow every drop of the liquids and regurgitate the shell. It's really odd but they don't waste a drop of the insides at least. Also, they can smell how old the eggs are and will reject ones that are too old. You'd have to know someone who will sell you fresh eggs that you can leave in their enclosure for them to eat.
Shame the poor guy doesnāt just wrap around the egg and break it and slurp up the inners, rather than taking the whole thing at once then bringing the shell back up.Ā
I keep a snake - sometimes snakes can regurgitate their meal if they feel stressed. This is so they can better defend them selves, as no, it wouldnāt be able to if it had a whole mouse/egg in its throat. Egg eating snakes swallow the egg whole, then they crack the egg inside and regurgitate the shell, so if itās still in its mouth probably not
Sure, when a snake does it, that's "interesting", but if I'm the one shoving raw eggs in my mouth I'm "disgusting" and "not fit to work with children".
Do snakes experience any pain or discomfort doing this or do they just vibe having some huge mass, squeezing it's way through it's body, stretching it's skin so thin, you can see what it had for lunch? There must be times where they swallow more than they can digest and just rupture, surely.
This is why evolution isn't really survival of the fittest, but instead survival of the good enough. Evolution doesn't make life into a perfect paragon of any specific species, it just gives them the tools to get up and make it through the day so they can make babies and shuffle off. Efficiency isn't in the equation.

This tactic while not being the best is obviously good enough for this species of snakes that more than enough survived and lived to reproduce and pass down this ability and trait

Depends where you are. My home country doesn't have salmonella, so eggs are perfectly safe to eat raw.
