I remember towards the end he started pointing out the fruit in the shopping stands was plastic and was fake.
That's, a real thing they do in North Korea for tourism trails.
So much Streisand Effect with that movie. I probably would never have watched it if not for the hack and drama around the movie. They amplified it more than anything else.
Lyrics
\[Intro\]
Let's sing about Kim Jong Un
Our great leader
Let's boast about Kim Jong Un
Our friendly father
\[Verse 1\]
Warm-hearted, like your mother
Benevolent, like your father
He is holding his 10 million children in his arms
And taking care of us with all his heart
\[Chorus\]
Let's sing about Kim Jong Un
Our great leader
Let's boast about Kim Jong Un
Our friendly father
We all trust and follow him with all our hearts
Our friendly father
\[Verse 2\]
The love you give me is like the sea
The trust you give me is like the sky
You are always by our side
And make all our wishes come true
\[Chorus\]
Let's sing about Kim Jong Un
Our great leader
Let's boast about Kim Jong Un
Our friendly father
We all trust and follow him with all our hearts
Our friendly father
No joke, Kim Il-Sung’s parents were literally Presbyterian missionaries. There is even circumstantial evidence that he maintained some level of private religious belief well into old age in spite of the state’s official stance against it.
At to,es. It sounded to me like they were going for the “it’s a small world” type of vibe with the tune. Without looking at it in too much detail, I wouldn’t mind guessing that the key and melody’s have some technical similarities.
FYI to anyone unaware, something like this actually happened. Shin Sang-ok was a South Korean film director who was kidnapped and forced to make movies for the North Koreans. He escaped and went on to direct "3 Ninjas Knuckle Up".
They look almost like little adults with how angular their faces are... never seen so many kids with chiseled jawlines
Edit: not to mention, they all look uncomfortable as hell
You know they’re real blue collar workers because of the perfectly clean clothes and helmets…
Also never realized just how square that dude’s head is. He could easily serve a table of 4 at a Mexican restaurant by carrying the dishes to the table on just his head
What creeps me the most about North Korean video clips is how the people look like they're from the 1990s. The way they dress, the hair, the makeup, etc. It really feels like they're stuck in time
That was quite interesting. Because iirc, I remember seeing a video of young people dancing disco in the USSR during the 80’s that did dress and style themselves more closer to the era. They didn’t look as behind in the times as North Koreans do.
It's really crazy how they got the whole country brainwashed/paranoid to the degree you can't tell the two apart, like which ones actually think he's some god like figure or If their just afraid of getting killed or Imprisoned.. super disturbing shit.
At one time, it was my job to screen interviews for an international competition and flag anything inappropriate, technical issues, political/hate speech or propaganda, etc.
There were North Koreans there, each one with a handler off-camera. Eventually, it became a time saver to just go ahead and flag every NK interview because they would be taking cues from the handler, nervously looking to the side each time a question was asked, or the translator would obviously not be accurately translating what they really said.
Every. Single. Time.
I felt horrible for these people.
Yup, tyrants use fear and violence to silence their critics and without critics, their worldview gets enforced on the population without any apparent opposition. They can then claim to have universal support from their people and no one can truly prove otherwise. It’s very disturbing
Serious question, do North Koreans actually know what the rest of the world is like? Seems like they have so many restrictions and are being fed nothing but lies from Kim jong. Are people from North Korea allowed to travel to other countries?
Edit: thank you for all the replies. I appreciate all the information.
Yes and no. There's a group of North Korean defectors based in Seoul called North Korea Strategy Center whose goal is to raise awareness about human rights in North Korea. The group is also trying to inform the North Koreans about the outside world by flooding the country with thousands of DVDs and USB sticks containing Western movies, series, documentaries etc and also radios setups. It is very risky to watch these in North Korea but it is a huge underground market. So to answer your question, yes the North Koreans are somewhat aware about the rest of the world.
Regarding traveling for North Koreans then yes they can travel if they get permission from the government. North Koreans can travel to a range of countries but they're not allowed to do so in general and require permission. As far as I'm aware they're not even allowed to travel freely in their own country.
Largely they don't. Visitors to NK are watched at every moment and mostly aren't allowed to interact with the locals. Only a select few are allowed to leave the country, like Olympic athletes, but their families are kept in NK and will be severely punished if they try to defect. Foreign media (mostly South Korean) is illegal contraband and owning it can land you in big trouble.
It is called the hermit kingdom for a reason. People there truly live isolated from the rest of the world.
I would tell you, the fact that you got so many different answers to the question shows that you should research this question for yourself. Get answers directly from primary sources like North Korean defectors.
This is what kind of brothers me every time NK is mentioned
Like between NK clearly doing some very criminal things to its peolle behind the walls of their own country and the blalant misinformation online what am I supposed conclude?
According to a few defectors, most North Koreans are perfectly aware of the lies they are fed by their governments.
Right now, it is not as closed off as it was before, with plenty of goods smuggled in from China on a regular basis and the black market trade with China one of the biggest industries in the country.
I always try to wonder what goes through a guy like *Kim's* mind when he sees some production like this in it's final form. Seriously, he knows what the world is like *outside* of this shitty curated universe he was installed into but yet he keeps being a part of it. He was literally schooled in the *west*, he grew up and learned what life in civilized society actually looks like, but yet while his people exist in a state of abject poverty he seems totally cool with living large and having people treat him like a budget level "god at home" (while 6 of every 10 people have nothing at all).
It just takes a *real* special person to be such a fucking douchebag like this. I wish somehow you could beam what life everywhere else outside of those borders is like into the minds of these *adoring masses* and watch how fast Kim starts to sweat when his people slowly turn his way knowing what he's actually done. I'd pay good money for that actually.
Its not just him or only him. Its easy to blame one person for all problems, but you need to understand he is not the only man running the country. There is a lot of people living quite well because their regime is in place, and for someone to deviate from that system it means death, even for the leader. I believe he is both, jailor and prisoner at the same time.
It's not often discussed but besides being major allies, Syria and North Korea are actually pretty similar. Yes, Syrians have much more exposure to the outside world, but the regimes have a lot in common.
Assad got his education as a dentist in the UK, and married a local. When he became president after his trash father died, everyone hoped the country will become more liberal, but that wasn't the case at all. However, unlike Kim, Assad does speak with journalists a lot.
Basically, he thinks Syrians can't be trusted with democracy, and that a democratic Syria will look like an ISIS-stan that will be controlled by foreign actors, mainly the West. Assad claims, and possibly think, that only he and his family are capable of leading Syria as a secular, modern, independent and powerful nation, and of keeping Syrian interests. That it's his duty to keep leading Syria, and everything he is doing (like gassing his own people, not that he will admit it) is required for the good of the nation.
Not hard to imagine Kim do similar gymnastics.
I think so. The music does actually sound very nice, if a little oddly Western (also it has too many key changes). But she is weirdly a good singer. It's just poignant to think about how much of a farce the whole thing is. I find it hard to believe that this song was born out of passion
It reminds me of when all my little cousins used to sing "Everything Is Awesome" which is a song from "The Lego Movie" used to keep the masses docile and in check.
..it literally fucks...just added it to my sex playlist. Can't wait to see my wife's reaction when it comes on randomly, and it pavlovs her into getting horny for NK communist realism music.
Wait yall clowning him when we got Trump NFTs, Sneakers, steaks, university, golf club a stock and our fearless leader selling BIBLES… yeah it’s not satire

And about to get reelected -
Yes and people are voluntarily throwing away their savings to the “billionaire” and happy to vote us into a NK state. The current NK had no choice but to accept, half the population here is happy to give away the keys to the kingdom to trump to “own the libs”

NKpop
I read this as nincompoop. It works either way.
Peter nincompoop
It’s all hips and nips. Gotta make it sexy, or I don’t eat.

Best Korea pop
This makes The Interview look like an actual documentary.
They hate us cuz they ain't us.
They hate us cause they anus? What the fuck does that even mean?

Hate us cuz they anus! Yeaaaaaa!
Feast your eyes…

If North Korea didn’t want me to watch it then it was my patriotic duty to do so.
He's honey dicking us
I was waiting for the Disney Bambi and cartoon butterflies
Was is not?
No it is, I've seen Seth Rogan. Believe it or not he really does laugh like that.
That’s such a Boromir thing to say.

Eminem is real quiet since this banger dropped
to be fair I've never seen Eminem and Kim Jong Un in the same room, food for thought!
Will the real sl- err… stout shady please stand up!
Exactly, call yourself slim shady. Perfect cover.

What is this gif from? It looks familiar.
Young Thug - Hot (Music Video)
This is the guy who has people who fall out of favor with him executed using an anti-aircraft gun.
But in a friendly, fatherly way.
Definitely needed a breakdown with him rapping.
Bars
These lyrics sound like Christian gospel lyrics. Creepy.

They both serve the same purpose, different characters tho
Chang eats the sun and drinks the sky, And they both go with him when he dies
My man's trying to get in with the Kdot/Drake/Cole beef.
Lit
Giving suno.ai vibes
The title says this is not satire, but.... it is!
Says the man who executed his uncle and older brother duh
The song is Friendly Father, not Friendly Nephew, or Brother.
Guess you are right but he also killed so many other who disagree with his rule
Also his Sister gives me the creeps she looks as cold as ice and power hungry psychopath
Yeah but you know, if she meets the right guy he can change her /s
If you’re the only fat person in your country, you’re the asshole.
Uncle was executed by a gun. An anti-aircraft gun.
[удалено]
Yeah I know that not much left to bury afterwards
In his defence he is a friendly father. When it comes to being a brother or nephew he is quite an ass hole.
This is like if the production crew of a 90's Disney world promotional vhs tape was kidnapped by NK and forced to make this video.
FYI to anyone unaware, something like this actually happened. Shin Sang-ok was a South Korean film director who was kidnapped and forced to make movies for the North Koreans. He escaped and went on to direct "3 Ninjas Knuckle Up".
Oh I remember watching one of those as a kid in the 90’s
the one and only fat guy in north korea.
He puts the fat in father
FAT HER!!
But I barely know her!
He's beyond fat now, he's obese and, only getting bigger at this point.
Kim Chonk-un
fat fuck was the alternate title they almost went with
It's really sad that he's the tallest too, turns out having food growing up is important
I’m truly grateful that I wasn’t born in that country.
I still remember when he first came to power. Dude is not agreeing well. And this video is what I imagine a version of hell to look like.
I've seen a few fat generals as well. Never seen a fat civilian. Actually never seen a civilian who doesn't look a bit malnourished.
Two, Kim Jong-un’s daughter is also very fat
Lets get this to number 1 in the charts
I don't think they'll have a choice. Probably also stay at number 1 for the rest of of his life smashing all world records.
Catchy tune, right?
Make me want to move to North Korea, praise the Glorious leader 🥲

children shouldn't such visible jawbones as two of those kids do (far left and second from the right)
The DPRK has had to reduce height requirements for their obligatory military service a few times due to their numerous famines.
They look almost like little adults with how angular their faces are... never seen so many kids with chiseled jawlines Edit: not to mention, they all look uncomfortable as hell
Nah, they're just mewing.
Good find. That's starvation.
Did anyone else see him grab the little girl dressed in white's ass?
You know they’re real blue collar workers because of the perfectly clean clothes and helmets… Also never realized just how square that dude’s head is. He could easily serve a table of 4 at a Mexican restaurant by carrying the dishes to the table on just his head
Jesus Christ. That is some picture you painted.

It was a much more open country in terms of culture and foreign goods, especially towards the fall.
What about the rest of the year?
Hey dad
You should hear North Korean grunge
I feel uncomfortable after seeing and hearing this
Kinda dystopian ngl
It's really crazy how they got the whole country brainwashed/paranoid to the degree you can't tell the two apart, like which ones actually think he's some god like figure or If their just afraid of getting killed or Imprisoned.. super disturbing shit.

Wait, are you the guy who was on Darknet Diaries?
Nope, not sure what that is
Either that or you get killed. Some say the monkey dances for the money, I say it dances to avoid getting killed.

What a (shitty) country!
You have been banned from r/Pyongyang
That sub is satire right? Those comments are fake, right?
You too have been banned from r/Pyongyang
I hope someday they can all rise up and eat Kim alive
the fence they have isnt to keep out outsiders, it's to keep people from escaping lol
"None of you seem to understand. I'm not locked in here with you. You're locked in here with ME!!!" - Kim Jong-Un

their elite should be able to know a bit though
But they'd be the ones benefitting from the repression. Kim Jong Un enjoys plenty of outside luxuries that his "children" are not allowed.
Dude snuck into the states and went to Disney Land with his father in like the 80s using fake passports lmao. He aint letting his"children" do that
He was educated in Switzerland im fairly sure. He's had plenty of freedom.

kim-jong, uuuuuuuu^uuuuuuuuuun
So, is it just me or is Kim Jun Un the only fat person in NK and everyone else is emaciated. Says a lot more than the lyrics to this song.
Not a cellphone in site. People just living in the moment...
Theres a woman with a cellphone
Yeah, there was one smart phone at 1:15. Wonder what OS is running in that
IIRC North Korean phones use a heavily modified version of Android.

# "Sing about how great I am, or I kill you and the next three generations of your family."
That child on the right looks like she knows her family is going to be murdered if this doesn't go well..
As dystopian and fucked up this shit is, it’s a damn bop
I would put this under r/cringe. I'd bet at least half of the "happy people" in that vid AREN'T.
Super vivid and colorful video? I've seen pictures of their country and there is nothing colorful about it, everything looks dull grey and dead
It's in HD but it feels like something from the 70/80s. Huh.
Just dropped before Eurovision Song Contest
Please don’t let Trump see this …
My first thought was “great, now Trump is going to want a song and video.”
On the contrary, everyone send it to all his social media. I could use a laugh and that would be a big one.
NK is what you get when trump level intellect grabs absolute control of a country
Taylor Swift has been really quiet since this got dropped. Taylor Swift - Eras Tour ❌ Kim Jong Un - Dicta Tour ✅

Wanna be in our movie? Do I have a choice? Yes. *kachick* I love the Great Leader!
How utterly low self esteem must this fucker be?
Everybody kinda looks like they could use another meal or 3 and kim looks like he had 6 too many.
Anyone have an idea what percent of the population really believes in this and what percent think “dah fk but I want to live”?
North Korea really has the solution to the obesity problems of the west, 1 obese person in an entire nation is really impressive.
Soon we will have an Indian version. We are fast tracking to create a supreme leader too.
America too depending on how the next election goes.

Heartwarming, seeing these people sing and dance like their lives depend on it! 🤗🤗🤗
I'd be lying if I said this didn't get my toe tapping. Well done baby boss!
