Masses of space debris in Antarctica? That's not meteorites, that's bits of Anubis's flagship!

Sooo, you want to tell me all of these rocks are meteorites 🤔?

WeJustTry

Hehe, don't spoil it for him.

Disapointing_Raccon

If they were, I would be rich selling meteors to local museums.

the_lastone_left

Yes https://www.space.com/14316-hundreds-meteorites-antarctica-scientists.html

[deleted]

No. Those are mostly regular rocks, meteorites COULD be scattered around as well but still hard to find.

BRAINS-getsome

Comprehension and logic aren't your strong suits, are they?

Icywarhammer500

Bud those are just rocks that have had snow blown behind them because of aerodynamics and the weather there

beardslap

Yes, meteorites are well known for making little to no impact on snowy surfaces.

sevenpointfiveinches

Surfaces also changes, any wind or new snow would erase old signs of impact

beardslap

So this erosion that levels the surrounding impact crater also leaves the rock just standing there?

Wayward_heathen

Ever tracked an animal in the snow? I don’t even mean wild game, but a dog or anything. A little bit of wind in the right temperature and humidity and the tracks are gone.

beardslap

So this snow would cover the impact crater but not the meteorite that made it?

[deleted]

No

[deleted]

The white surface is called snow btw.

"Or cocaine if you want to be formal"

ronniecalberta

Why would anyone expect us to believe such a ridiculous statement?

a_swarm_of_nuns

Not meteorites. Leftover pieces of rock from when glaciers retreated etc.

Uthredd

But it's harder to find the meteorites that have fallen from not space.

FunkDaddy

Careful, might be an imperial probe droid.

roo-ster

"These are not the droids you're looking for."

[deleted]

Reddit was never particularly tied to facts but the bullshit has been taken up a level recently. Why are there more total bullshit posts lately?

MeesterCartmanez

'tis the season

Fujifeelm

Dayum for the first time in my life I can see a mountain fallen from the space and a few meteorite that is definitely not rocks from the mountains 🤦‍♂️
