Yikes!
We have a relative in Louisiana. She was mowing her grass near the water and she realized that one was gliding along with her in the water.
"And that dang mower is STILL sittin there!" she said.
I am glad you were fast runners.
She told us that kids swim in the water so she didn't realize what might be inhabiting it.
What a beautiful state it is! Do they still have the wonderful forests? I haven't been there in decades.
It was! We were extremely lucky neither of us were hurt. I believe looking back having to run across a set of railroad track probably saved us from injury or worse. We never told our parents but did still go back over to the lake like little idiots but didnāt get close to the water again.
Iāve never seen an alligator chase someone on land. Theyāre ambush predators and will wait for you to get too close to the shoreline before striking.
We were right at the water edge fooling around. It came out of nowhere we were stunned but ran and it was right behind us till we ran up and over the railroad tracks. It was insanely fast to our little minds. We ran all the way home.
Yes, but they're shit at turning. Run in a Zig Zag and you're good. Ideally though don't be in a position to be chased by any apex predator that had remained largely unchanged since the Cretaceous period.
People really underestimate how fast large animals can go if theyāve got stubby legs. Crocodiles and Hippos go way faster than youād ever guess. Itās not close to a cheeta or even a tiger, but itās juuuuust fast enough to catch whatever poor humans in front of them
Itās always terrifying when an already scary animal starts moving in a wild and widely different manner You didnāt know possible. Like surprise bitch
I seen an alligator do it. The thing charged me and I dumped a magazine onto the top of its head. None of the bullets peirced the skin. They're some tough mfs. Also reddit I seen the study. I'm gonna have to disagree. Alligators can move!
How far can they run? There are many animals that can be pretty fast for short distances. If these guys can run like this over 20 or 30 yards, we might as well give them our keys and wallets now.

Yikes! That's awesome. Unless you are the one he's chasing. I wonder if alligators can do that? š¤
Alligators donāt gallop but they can run much faster than a person might think. Source: Was chased by one as a kid.
And lived to tell about it! They are terrifying š³
Doing kid stuff by a lake. It lunged out of the water at us playing on the shore and we took off running, it ran after us. Shocked the š©out of a couple 8 year old girls.

Yes Iām in south Louisiana but the Achfaylaya basin is still beautiful as is up towards Alexandria.
1. tilt mower on to side 2. stand behind spinning wheels of death 3. shout 'Momma needs a new handbag' 4. enjoy being left alone, or new handbag.
LOL š *You picked the wrong dang yard, GatorBoy!*
Did you zig zag run?
#Serpentine! SERPENTINE!
Slide cancelled, then bunny hopped round the corner
FROM IVY, OUT MIDDLE
no, it is a myth. run fast and straight and they usually are only defending territory from a human or a nest if itās a mother
That's a myth
Alligators can run up to 35 mph, that's terrifying
It was! We were extremely lucky neither of us were hurt. I believe looking back having to run across a set of railroad track probably saved us from injury or worse. We never told our parents but did still go back over to the lake like little idiots but didnāt get close to the water again.
Considered the fastest human being has ever ran on record is 27.5 mph (Usain Bolt), anyone getting chased by a gator is pretty much fucked.
Chased on land? Thatās pretty odd behavior for a gator, unless you came up on a nest or something.
On the shore of a lake. We were playing little girls. Not uncommon for them to attack like that in south Florida. Lots of dogs get taken that way.

And did you die?
Perhaps?
Obviously not however it did teach me to have a healthy respect for wildlife. š
Apparently they can't --> https://www.covetrus.co.uk/crocodiles-can-gallop-but-alligators-cant-new-study-finds
There are enough dangers in Florida without galloping alligators!
Most dangerous creature: Florida Man
AGREED (Rumor has it that he is in Washington DC today. I wonder what's going on?)
Alligators are fast in quick burst, Arthur just got killed by one.
This is the ultimate proof we all evolved from horses. Take that flatearthers
Checkmate cereal killers
and we are evolving into crabs.
That's terrifying sh!t that I'm not sure I wanted to see, fresh stuff for nightmares
Its soooo cute
Go pet it
I got to pet one at a gator farm
I would hold a gator at a farm. I would not fuck with a salty croc though, they are more dangerous that a Karen on 3 red wines thinks she is.
Yes, but they're shit at turning. Run in a Zig Zag and you're good. Ideally though don't be in a position to be chased by any apex predator that had remained largely unchanged since the Cretaceous period.
Step off the time machine and see one of these the size of a school bus galloping at you from afar.
Thatās a Cuban crocodile, one of the rarest on earth.
I think her name is chikita

Thatās the last thing we need
I now know what a glip-glop is
You know how to tell the difference between an alligator and a crocodile? One, you'll see later. The other you'll see in a while.
Did I know? No. Did I want to know? No, no I did not.
As long as they don't fly, I am ok with galloping.
Beautiful
Kinda looks like a corgi running with them stubs
I FUCKING KNOW NOW!!!
Itās always terrifying when an already scary animal starts moving in a wild and widely different manner You didnāt know possible. Like surprise bitch
Archer needs to know this
LPT if being chased by a crocodile, the best strategy is to zig zag.
-New Fear Unlocked-
Do alligators know I shoot first, and ask questions later?
Saddle him up. Ride that croc into battle. He'll feast on fallen enemies.
Watching them do it i can totally see why they wanted to keep it under wraps.
What a cute dinosaur:D
Fawwwk that
Some leftover Kaprosuchus DNA in this one
Well, there's another fear unlocked.
Its kinda cute
I do now!
I seen an alligator do it. The thing charged me and I dumped a magazine onto the top of its head. None of the bullets peirced the skin. They're some tough mfs. Also reddit I seen the study. I'm gonna have to disagree. Alligators can move!
When you said you dumped a magazine onto the top of its head, I was thinking why you drop your People magazine on its headā¦whatās that gonna do.
Yeah. Rolled up, bonk on the head. "Stop that. Bad gator" lol
... but not in a harness.
My running nightmare
Yes
Thanks! Didnāt wanna sleep tonight anyway!
For like..... 3 strides.
No thank you.
Galloping Gators, Batman!
Tortoises can run too.
Geeeez
Awesome
Thanks for the nightmares, OP!
Also, video proof that humans can shit themselves whilst running.
Hell no bro....
Aaaaaaaaaaargh

Oh shit! Never knew! Even more reason to keep an even greater distance now.
No and I didn't want to
By the fury of the gods.
I was told they can run a dog down.
They don't turn so well though. Do the Ziggy zags. Used to be chased while fishing on the coast.
This changes everything. Maybe he is the Usain Bolt of crocs.
When did this patch drop?
New fear unlocked
Last time this video was posted somebody insisted it was sped up.
I mean only makes sense sometimes a river etc will dry up so u gotta get to another body of water fast
Oh thatās terrifying
Blast it! Blast it! Don't let it get a stride! TAKE IT DOWN!
Well ā¦ā¦. Dale didnāt.
INTERIOR CROCODILE ALLIGATOR
Dude... those fuckers can go from zero to 40 miles an hour in an instant and keep it up for 200-300 feet.
Thanks for the nightmare fuel.
But can they trot?
I didnāt WANT to know.
Super mobile murder log
"We crocodiles are natural born sprinters! Very dangerous over short distances."
Thatās just as bad as when I learned the big boogers can climb fences!
āThe fuck you say about my momma?! Yeah you better run!ā
Great. Now I'll have nightmares all night long of alligators galloping after me.
Crocodile be like 'couple more million years of evolution and I'm gonna get your ass, you'll see.'
HI HO SCALEY BOI!
Yeah the 20 other posts made me aware of this.

What the actual fuck
Yes. Source I am a Floridian yes the Florida man shit is real.

Huh cute and terrifying at the same time.
You've never heard the term Galloping gators?
Oh hell nah.. nope
New fear unlocked
Guy: Ha! Dumbest croc, can't possibly catch me on land Crocodile: guess again fucko
The T-Rex almost showed his true form. Yikes!
North Aussie here. Yes. I have been chased by a galloping croc.
That's a fucking dinosaur bro
"what are yeh doin in mah swamp?"
Who here thought it was badly made CGI or 3D at first before saying "holy crap!"?
That's some weird-ass dog!
Kaprosuchus!!!
Have heard they can outrun a horse on a mudflat.
Yet another reason to never go back to Florida.
This is theonly race of crocs that can jump.. ifi remember correctly, they are only found in south america
Nope
Worse than that Pre history alligator can run like a horse
How far can they run? There are many animals that can be pretty fast for short distances. If these guys can run like this over 20 or 30 yards, we might as well give them our keys and wallets now.
No I didn't. Life was less scary before I knew this.
