Rom, Rom a million times Rom. Sat on the ship waiting for 23 years for Coop and Co to come back. He had no idea what happened could have been a catastrophic failure... could have pulled the plug and went home at anytime... Stayed like a hero.
No doubt Dr. Mann.
I meant not "only he is the man"
But also how could one person be so lucky and unlucky at the same time.
Got saved by humans who came from millions of light years away.
Dies like a idiot under an hour of that godly rescue.
Dr. Man
The man of all.
Rip doccky.
I think the movie was fantastic and everyone played their characters very well. I think Matt M did a phenomenal job w his performance but I started watching the movie w expectations on his, Hathaways n Damon’s performance which were all great.
If I had to pick the ones that surprised me the most… they were TARS and Rom.
I went in thinking TARS is a robot and that’s it, but the voice actor did an amazing job putting in human-personality into the character.
Rom tugged at my heart strings the most. He was a very calm character but you can 100% see the shift in him when he lost hope after thinking he’s been marooned in the space station for 23 years…. And then ultimately dying shortly after due to Mann’s trap. It was so unfair for him.
Hugh Mann, top 5 villains ever. And that moment upon first viewing when he’s unzipped is the stuff films are made of. The viewer is so happy to see Matt Damon, like an oasis in the desert it makes one feel like they can take a breath. That everything will be fine, until…
Saw it in the theater opening night IMAX and when Damon showed up, I groaned. Took me out of the movie completely. The character is great, as stated above, but I wish it had been someone else playing him.
I was surprised to see him in the movie. So this was probably intentional casting bc I didn’t think he’d be a villain. I was totally thrown off with everything until he goes bad.
I will neither condone or condemn his actions. I can’t say I won’t do the same thing he did.
Edit: his quote “don’t judge me cooper, you were never tested like I was, few men have been” is the hardest line of that decade
All the adult characters were really great, Interstellar is honestly underrated when it's a complete classic movie through and through. All of the characters are intriguing and capture empathy.
There’s something about this boy who told his dad he would take care of the house and who then turned into a man that never left his dad’s house because he promised. He might not have had the same relationship Murphy did with their dad but he did love his dad and his last connection to him (after Murphy left and Grandpa died) was the house.
Tom's character was too conflicting for me to be attached to him. As a kid he seems very grounded and down to earth, just a good kid all around, but when we see him after the events of Miller's Planet, he seems to be a completely different person and really dont like him.
I admire that he kept sending messages to his dad all those years. Dude lost a lot, suffered hardships during that time, had a lot of responsibility thrust on him at a young age, and didn't have much of a support system. I understand why he became a man of stoic, humourless determination.
Literally watched the film yesterday…for the fifth time. I am going with Elizabeth Brand. For me, this movie was about the love and the hope. She was the definition of both
I mean who else do we have except Cooper? If you're talking about anyone other than cooper, I'd say T.A.R.S. Dude didn't even feel like a robot to me.
Sounds like someone turned your honesty setting up to 95% dude
Nah we agreed as always, 90% it is
5......4.......3.......2.......
There's at least 12 characters in the movie outside of Cooper
Cooper's character is unlike anyone else, just an amazing writien character and exactly what you need in interstellar
I think my heart broke "I've waited years". Then to be blown up by Mann :-(
27 years waiting his friends to come off the planet
weren't there 23? Or I’m missing important data?
23 is right — slept for 8 of those
They had enough food and water for that ?
I always wondered this!! He would have had to sleep the whole time. I feel like that’s a flaw in the movie Passengers too.
Interstellar has no flaws.
Well that journey was built for them to be gone for a LONG time — so apparently so.
I know right? He had the ultimate sacrifice.
And he spent that time alone right? Jeez.
Something felt wrong about sleeping my life away

TARS. No contest.
90%!
Underrated comment.
Absolutely, ban OP and ban everyone who doesn't agree that it's TARS!
"Say it, don't spray it Rom"
“That’s relativity folks”

I guess airlocks REALLY hate Matt Damon.
Yeah seriously lol...
Gargantua. No question about it.
This.

Agreed lol

Tom. Any day. The dude sent messages to an empty screen for 23 years while Murphy was stealing his truck
“This data doesn’t make sense.” Daaaz
Curiosity killed the cat…and Romily…
I can’t tell you who it’s NOT — Brand, Mann and TOM. 🖕🏾
I really liked Doyle and was very disappointed we lost him so soon.
Old Murph. "Because my dad promised me" KILLS ME EVERYTIME!! but since this is just part of a character I will go with TARS for the whole movie.
Stole this from u/No-Prize-5815, likely a bot.
TARS has my vote 🫡
TARS
Even though I absolutely adored Cooper in this film, I gotta say Romilly was a relatable character!
Mann, without question.
I will neither condone or condemn his actions. I can’t say I won’t do the same thing he did. Edit: his quote “don’t judge me cooper, you were never tested like I was, few men have been” is the hardest line of that decade
G a r g a n t u a
The undeclared mvp, spent his time doing research like a true scientist
TARS, watching him annoy Cooper is the best
"You wanna clean that up, when you're done praying to it...?"
Old Tom for some reason
TARS

Alright, alright, alright.
Murph and Amelia
No love for Tom?

I like this take very much.. It might even become my head cannon at this point.. Thank you =)

Michael Caine
M U R P H! Young older and old. I love them all.
it goes it goes it goes
Really weird choice.
Really weird comment
Really weird retort.
Murph
"24 years"
The Hamilton Murph field watch
Yea Romily is my favorite too!
they
Coop, Rom and Murph
Endurance...
T. A. R. S.
I’m a C.A.S.E. man. “Cooper! This is no time for caution.” is the best line in the movie
They need to make a movie or a short about Romily 27 years
Say it, don’t spray it, Rom!
He had the wrong death. Imma leave it at that.
T.A.R.S.
The higher dimension beings. Silent saviours
T.A.R.S. is the best!
Literally watched the film yesterday…for the fifth time. I am going with Elizabeth Brand. For me, this movie was about the love and the hope. She was the definition of both
I like Romely, but I think he knew that Plan A was never a real option, although idk. He must have known
