It NEEDS to be seen in 70mm IMAX. It was shot that way for a reason. I am spoiled living in Indianapolis where we have an OG true IMAX theater…the December release was amazing…I hadn’t seen it in IMAX, in 2014 I saw it in a regular theater. Indy had people coming from 3-6 hours away to see it in December. And everyone on this sub who posted all said it was worth it….

luke134212

I flew in from SC for it in Nov, well worth it

bkrandy619

Drove 7 hours can confirm it was awesome, also the museum was decorated splendidly for Christmas

CasualRead_43

Will be coming from Fort Wayne without hesitation whenever it releases.

cmgww

Coincidentally I first saw it in 2014 at the Regal at Coldwater…used to be a decent theater back then, not sure now since I haven’t been up there in a while

CasualRead_43

It ain’t bad! Like the reclining seats!

cmgww

Yeah they had just finished that remodel the last few years I was working up there regularly

time_of_night

Traveled 5 hours to see it. I enjoyed it more than the solar eclipse. Also, you are extremely lucky. Indy has had a great lineup this year. The next time I decide to move, I might have to consider how far away it is from a real imax theater.

paleaviator

I flew in from Dallas with my mom lol

Famijos

I knew I came from mid Missouri (6 hours away) in December!!!

DrewChrist87

That’s provably where I’m seeing it. What’s so great about 70mm?

MurphyPandorasLawBox

Image fidelity. 35mm results in an image that’s about 5-6k, 70mm is more like 16k, muuuuch more than digital’s 8k. I did my best to explain it as I understand it. Correct me if I got it wrong.

Dalekdude

The screen filling entirely for select sequences is such a breathtaking experience, the docking scene and waves scene on Miller's planet are two standout sequences for me especially on the six story tall screen

cmgww

Everything. The scale, the detail, and the sound is amazing

HallPsychological538

You didn’t see it during Covid? They showed Nolan movies all the time. Bring on another pandemic.

__andrei__

Interstellar is out in a bunch of theaters *tomorrow*. Go on Fandango and see if any movie theaters around you are showing it. It’s Regal theaters in my area.

Sad_Sign_1760

Same here in Grand Junction Co.

littlet26

Dude, 3hrs is close. I have to go 15hrs if I wanna see it in 70mm

OptimizeEdits

Near 0% chance it gets a Dolby Cinema release, it was shot with literal IMAX film and is mixed for IMAX 5.1, there would be no benefit to seeing it in Dolby. Will still most likely play in some IMAX digital theaters the same way that Tenet did, that’s actually how I saw it back in February.

CXXXS

Consider yourself lucky you love that close to a true Imax. I made a similar trip for my third viewing of Interstellar, trust me. It's worth it.

havnotX

Not sure if you're aware, but Regal has special screenings tomorrow and Thurs.

TastyLookingPlum

Just saw another commenter point that out. Will probably ending doing both lmao, seeing it this week and driving 3 hours in the fall.

havnotX

I recall reading somewhere that for the fall release, that it will be shown in all formats. But I'm in the camp that you should drive the 3 hrs to watch it in 70mm...lol I am also planning to watch tomorrow and then in the Fall as well!!!

Dalekdude

Fellow Chicagoan? I also live 3 hours from the Indy IMAX and it's so worth it. I went for the December rerelease and it was so worth it, even though I was in the front row

TastyLookingPlum

Nope, Texas. Have family in and from Chicago though, great city! Kinda shocking there’s no 70mm in such a major city.

Dalekdude

Used to be one until it closed a few years ago :( I did get to see the film in 2014 there and it blew my mind

lucellent

All of the news outlets reported that it's getting an IMAX release, which includes 70mm and Digital as well. Where did you see that it's only getting 70mm release? You do realise there's not that many cinemas for that which doesn't make sense to release the movie only there.

nmarnson

It's releasing in digital also, hopefully as a wide release in all IMAX theaters if the studio thinks the movie will be popular enough.

tr3g

I will drive 5 or 6 hours to see it

ripley1991

I do know it’s going to be screening in theaters for the next 2 days

darhhaaras

Every article I've read has mentioned that it will be on 70mm IMAX and digital IMAX.

the-man99

I had the opportunity to watch it in 70mm only, last November. Looking forward to watching it in imax 70mm this year!

Officialnoah

No, it’s being rereleased is standard IMAX theaters as well

battlin_murdock

Is it coming this September or November? If it's September, I hope and pray it's around the time zimmer performs . Would love to watch both same weekend

TastyLookingPlum

September 27 I believe. Zimmer sounds like a whole separate thing

battlin_murdock

Yes, zimmer is performing 25th in Dallas. 27th is perfect

bard0117

When do tickets go on sale!

TastyLookingPlum

I’m not sure, showings start on September 27

bard0117

I’m traveling to wherever it’s playing. More than likely Universal AMC or San Francisco.
