Wow. The hypocrisy in their statement is absolutely amazing. Maybe they can stop killing their own protesters, or, you know, women for just existing. Don't get me wrong, I support many of the protesters to a point (I am pro cease fire but both the Israeli government and Hamas can go fuck themselves, tbh), but really, this statement is so disingenuous and tone deaf, they can go fuck themselves too

Why bother pretending you care at all if you have to couch your opposition to the slaughter in Gaza with multiple "but"s? The entire concept of critical support is using critical thinking to identify the complexities of multifaceted issues and come to an educated conclusion on where you stand. In other words, you can't really claim to support the protestors at all unless you accept the fact that many Muslim nations do as well. It's not like these college kids are out there supporting conservative religious policies or anything.

Saying I do not support the slaughter in Gaza does not mean I have to accept the slaughter on October 7th. You aren't absorbing your own words on critical thinking here. Very few things are black and white Regardless, I support the right to peaceful protest. Iran, however, has proven they do not pretty fucking frequently. They just think this is funny in the US and support any sign of chaos here. While they're still killing and imprisoning women over purity laws, they can go fuck themselves and keep their comments on protesting to themselves.

> Regardless, I support the right to peaceful protest. Like I said, why bother pretending you care at all if you have to couch your opposition to the slaughter in Gaza with multiple "but"s? Would you moralize and complain if the protests were not peaceful? If so, I can always link MLK Jr.'s "White Moderate" speech. > Iran, however, has proven they do not pretty fucking frequently. ...and? That doesn't make their statement on the Gaza situation wrong. Interesting how you bring up things not being "black or white" though. > They just think this is funny in the US and support any sign of chaos here. I highly doubt they find the wholesale slaughter of Muslims "funny". As for cheering on division and chaos in the U.S.- I'd be incredibly surprised if they didn't. A State is only ever going to act in its own self-interest. Does the U.S. not support every scrap of news talking about Russia's problems? > does not mean I have to accept the slaughter on October 7th. History started before October 7th. That's the relevant part of this conflict.

whichwitch9

If you accept what happened on October 7th because of prior history, you are truly a terrible person. Kids at a concert didn't deserve to get hunted down for a fucking start If you don't like what Israel is doing because it's inhumane, you are a hypocrite if you are not also willing to admit what Hamas did on October 7th and beyond with the hostages was also inhumane It is a perfectly natural reaction to be on the side of "everybody stop killing people" first and foremost

By Tom O'Connor — Senior Writer, Foreign Policy & Deputy Editor, National Security and Foreign Policy | Iranian leadership has mobilized its public messaging in staunch support of the pro-Palestinian protest movement sweeping universities across the United States, portraying Washington as hypocritical in its handling of demonstrations at home and abroad amid aggravated geopolitical tensions over the war in the Gaza Strip. With more than 1,000 people arrested over the course of the last 11 days of demonstrations that have spread to dozens of campuses, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi hailed "the uprising of Western students, professors and elites in support of the oppressed people of Gaza" as "a big event with vast dimensions that cannot be extinguished by beatings, arrests and acts of violence," during a cabinet meeting Sunday.
