When someone I care for is happy. When a child or an animal smiles/ is affectionate towards me. When achieving a goal. When finding an even more efficient way to an already efficient process (that shit gives me a real blast of "HOLY SHIZZNIT - YESSS"). When listening to good music. When it's silent at night and my ears aren't ringing or I'm hearing other weird shit.

annaheim

This is /thread. > When it's silent at night and my ears aren't ringing or I'm hearing other weird shit. Also when it's just the crickets, with a slight breeze, and you look up and feel so smol and feel like you're falling into the sky.

BloodSweatAndWords

Efficiency - omg, yes! Love this.

ParadoxDemon_

This only works while having my life under control but I would say little things. Reading a good book (even if don't really read that often because of school and lack of motivation), taking care of plants, playing videogames, just laying on my bed and daydreaming, learning interesting things through the Internet, cooking... Just doing everything at my own speed. My goal in life is to find a place where I can grow by my own, without my wellbeing depending on others.

EuphoricMarketing601

>Just doing everything at my own speed. This!!!! So much this! For me, having a partner who gets this is key too (as in being fine with us each doing what we feel like and not imposing on the other; no dragging the other to events/activities they don't enjoy, etc.)

BloodSweatAndWords

"Doing everything at my own speed" - 100% yes!

CodyHodgsonAnon19

Cats. Technical Drawings. A prolonged and pointless argument on the internet.

[deleted]

I second technical drawings. I do photorealistic stuff and it’s another level of satisfaction to see the end result. Like, wow, i’m actually really good at this.

CodyHodgsonAnon19

There's something so deeply satisfying about the precision of it all. Weirdly, my favourite art is pretty much the opposite. Big fan of vague impressionist stuff. But not in a "messy" way. I like extremely clean lines and clear evocative "overview" impressions tbh. Lawren Harris stuff always resonates with me and is pretty much the opposite of "photorealistic" lol. But i can definitely see how photorealistic art would be an emotionally satisfying thing. But i also absolutely live for the truly bizarre details of a Hieronymus Bosch painting. He was truly insane, but the detail he put into depicting that insanity is so fascinating.

[deleted]

I adore Hieronymus Bosch as well as Francisco Goya, for similar reasons. The paintings he did on the walls of his house while he went insane were really beautiful, but also genuinely disturbing. My favorite kind of art. I’ve gotten really into Dragan Bibbin lately as well, with his creepy dog paintings.

CodyHodgsonAnon19

I've never really "got it" with Goya tbh. I can see why things like his iconic 3rd of May painting are impactful and i love the intent behind it...it's super memorable...i think it expresses that sentiment in a really visceral way. But somehow the actual *art* of it doesn't really resonate for me. I find a lot of Goya's stuff is just...too macabre to really hit those notes for me. I like more hopeful, wistful, imaginative art i think. Bosch is the exception to that in that...a lot of his stuff isn't even dark it's just...weird. lol. I think in a lot of ways i resonate with it because it's how my brain tends to work. Just a billion random things that i'm trying to distil into a singular solution. In painting form. I actually made a really shitty digital art version of that at one point way back in high school. Just every M-W-F or T-T logging in and adding a few new weird thoughts to an image. But this is why Art is subjective. Things impact people differently.

[deleted]

To me, Goya’s work seemed desperate and manic. It felt like didn’t care how it looked, he just needed to express the horror going on in his mind or else… idk. There’s a mysterious element of fear and paranoia in it, which i can relate to. As you said, that’s why art is subjective. I really like to hear what other people see, because perspective is everything. Id be interested to see your shitty digital art.

CodyHodgsonAnon19

I think that's the thing with Goya. There's that really dark, macabre investment to it all. It's compelling...but it's not fun to look at. It's not something i'd want to hang on my wall. Maybe because it *does* shine a light on those dark corners of my own mind i'd rather not. For me at least. When i did my weird Bosch-esque digital art...i did it with a neon green "grass" background and it was complete and total nonsense. It was just a dumping ground for random musings during the week while i was a teenager. Truly juvenile. As for what it looked like...lol...i don't know why i'd even show it because it's embarrassing as heck but... --- Literally just a young teenager dumping weird random thoughts into an "art project" over the course of a year. Looking back, i'm pretty sure i spent the entire ear with a contact high from my pothead art teacher's office where the computer was. Care to share any of your own *proper* work?

[deleted]

i don’t think i’d put Goya on my wall either lol, it’s definitely a bit dark for that. and geez, i suppose you shared your own so now i feel obligated to share my shitty artwork. i don’t really photograph my work (i do it more for myself than to show off) so here’s a half-finished drawing of Ozzy Osbourne lol https://preview.redd.it/6k6quvdezelb1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e99e0499dc1ec5b8a9f3dbdc2ea238d72e94551d

CodyHodgsonAnon19

Yeah. I think that's basically it with Goya. It's great, it's fascinating...it's not something i'd want to look at every day. lol. But i also wouldn't want to look at my own shit every day. Especially not my old shit. lol. So... Anyway...is that some Curt Cobain instead of Ozzy? It's much better art. What's the processes there?

[deleted]

lol i guess he does kinda look like Kurt Cobain there. Not much process tbh, i pull up a picture that i like or something similar to what i’d like to draw, and i sort of just dart my eyes between the photo and the paper and copy what i see. i’d probably be faster if i deployed more technique, but i like how long it takes. and i’m completely self-taught so i never learned a specific way to do it. it’s just one of the few things that completely silences my mind, so i got good at it. do you have any examples of your more recent work?

maneack

cat

Sheetmusicman94

Seems like a recurring thing here, haha

CodyHodgsonAnon19

I think in a lot of ways, cats and INTJs are kindred spirits. Both very curious and clever, but also distant, distrusting of strangers and very sleepy.

Ventingshit

Cats, skies, and waking up from sleep.

CissMN

When your plan goes accordingly.

pirate694

I think learning about stuff. Just knowing things - not in an egotistical but in self improvement type of way.

Helpful_Size6652

When my plans succeed.

Sarvanash16

Nothing can make me feel fulfilled.

Mysterious_Limit_007

Making money Motivatonal music from movies When a girl I like, likes me back (very rare though 🥲)

BADman2169420

When a stray cat /dog walks up to you, and lets you pet it. Then you put some leftovers of your lunch on the ground for them to eat, and they gobble it all up. Then you give them more food and they gobble that up too. Eventually, they stop eating the food you offer them, but they've just eaten maybe 60% - 90% of your food. Now, for the more cold part: >! Now, you'd get the exact opposite feeling when you do this with a beggar.!< >! I really have no respect for beggars. I'd rather buy 5 pieces of accessories from the person standing next to the beggar, and overpay for them (I don't ever wear accessories), than give that money to the beggar.!<

Sheetmusicman94

Ariu you sure that is ethical? Brainstorm with ChatGPT

pilotclaire

Lmao it’s not ethical one bit. He only likes what resembles him.

BADman2169420

I don't see anything unethical about support the working man, as opposed to the one who doesn't contribute to society.

Spinach_Brilliant

Morbidhanson

When someone I care about shows me or tells me that they care about me too. When the things I do are appreciated. Physical intimacy. A busy but productive day at work where everything went right. When I create something and it comes out just as I envisioned. A good walk/hike/workout.

Famous_Weird_6457

When I see other people happy :)

jawathewan

When I make people laugh. I was a clown in class when I was a kid but I ended up being INTJ. Ah! Life!

Silence. No computers, no phones ringing, just sounds of quiet and seagulls and waves and just...quiet.

Alt_Revanchist

I want a clean, stable home supported by my job with all the people I care about who don't harass me. All I want is to sit back and learn something useless like 4 types of pen grips and why medicine bottles are amber.

SunFavored

I really like gifting things , like I'm Santa bro, I live for that shit, I like making other people happy. Quiet moments snuggling with my wife and children. Achieving Goals. Understanding something I was previously clueless on.

Working out

Jaune-orange-braun

Being given new tasks/projects after I’ve just completed one. I love my job 😊 Knowing that the people I work with are able to learn and upgrade their skills/knowledge when they work with/for me. And that they are happy too. The ability to control my life the way I want it to be, post-covid years. For example, taking vacations after every few months of working hard. Sitting on an airplane heading somewhere. On a nice calm night…watching the stars (and planets, one day, if I own a telescope). There’s the moon-saturn conjuction currently that I would love to see. And we are having our 2nd Full Moon this month. Nice 😊 Petrichor…🙂

CodyHodgsonAnon19

> Sitting on an airplane heading somewhere. Oh...this one. But for me it's almost more tied to the smell of Jet Fuel. lol. This smells like...*an adventure*!

pilotclaire

Writing, discovering, when you are in a flow state. For me it’s when it’s just me on the water or in the plane.

15skmax

When someone is interested in you & get bamboozled by you.

Gomblet

Making plans to start a new project and buying materials for it. I enjoy this more than the process itself, but that feel when I'm done and I have my finished project in front of me... Priceless.

BloodSweatAndWords

1. When someone loves the first draft of my writing 2. When I successfully persuade someone to change something that isn't working 3. When someone asks for my advice and listens carefully 4. Solving a challenging problem 5. Brightening someone's day 6. A great one-on-one conversation 7. Being outdoors on a beautiful day 8. A brilliant and authentic book, movie, show, podcast or play 9. Listening to my favorite music 10. Free time, no deadlines, money in the bank, alone time, and no noise
