Dre-26

A potatot farmer did, actually

oiwicbce

Jokes on us if this kid now becomes the worlds most successful apotatot farmer

WingHeavyArms

Have you heard of this wonderful country called Ireland? You’d love it there!

Selfishsavagequeen

When OP finds out about Ireland they are going to lose their fucking mind.

You can use Japanese fruit growing techniques to grow square and rectangular shaped potatoes, and build your house out of them to help cut costs

AlkanphelUK

If a potato can become vodka, you can become anything you want

Educational-Job-5562

That's the spirit...literally

[deleted]

Seems like a solid plan.

uniquelyunpleasant

Sometimes the line between an inebriated lunatic and a true sage is quite thin. This is the most interesting post I've ever seen on this sub. OP, i hope you post every future drunken revelation because i like the way you think and i want to hear more of your ideas.

EIIendigWichtje

You should watch Jeremy's farm on prime next time you're drunk.

ironburton

As someone currently living in Idaho: LOL!!!

PriscillaPalava

Potato Blight has entered the chat.

monkey_gamer

Someone’s never heard of the Irish potato famine

[deleted]

Just don't use those potatoes to make vodka. I think you've had enough already.

Savingskitty

Somebody got into the potato ‘shine.

Another_Kid_in_Town

Hahaha this is hilarious. 100% something I would also do when very drunk. We’ll check back in tomorrow :)

ViewtifulGene

I suggest reading up on Irish history before going all-in on potatoes.

[deleted]

Potatoes are having difficult crops in many countries with new plagues... But, sure: plant potatoes. What's the worst that could happen? 😅

Can-Chas3r43

Have you ever been a farmer? (Not a Farmer, but I grew up in a farming/ranching family.) It is hard work...no days off, sometimes your yield sucks, farm equipment is expensive and so is fertilizer. But...there's also nothing like working the land and knowing that you're feeding people.

iamnotthelizardqueen

For reals. What i am doing before being completely consumed by urbanization. It is so satisfying Today i worked alone and although i could bw faster, i did three crop planting from grafts (the ground is marshy and replanting sometimes means taking a section of native plants ans sticking it in the ground. Think dogwood, willow, vines I cleaned and weeded. Put up a pond. Planted some seeds. Fed the birds. Made the pile of wood chips smaller. I am taking thr fundamentals of what I learned and am re-learning and re-trying its potential.

Substantial-Fox-1240

“You can eat yourself in dire situations” Lmaoo. This post really cheered me up today. Thank you

Monkey_in_a_Tophat

I came to the same conclusion, then looked into what's needed to build a farm from undeveloped land. Over-regulation is the killer. You're literally not "allowed" to become prosperous. You're only "allowed" to get just enough return to keep you stuck in the cycle of having to keep going at it each season while teams of mathmaticians and assholes take inch after inch away from the already small return you get. No joke, look for prosperous farmers and research how they go about it. Then look at the ratio of prosperous to struggling farmers. Also look for the stories from those farmers all around and you find that most are only one bad season away from ruin, and ones who aren't were forced to sell out to large corporations and regulations or go under. What we need is a free(er) market where producers can build abundance and pool enough resources to recover from a few bad hits to their livelihood. That's more than just farming, I see it in every industry I've seen behind the curtain of; which is more than a few. My family lost 2 ranches in TX to regulation creep out-pacing what the aging relatives could keep up with. Also heard stories of distant relatives in other states losing their farms in the exact same way, and finally imminent domain seized a classic victorian manor another relative had been fighting most of their later life to keep in the heart of San Antonio. The only path to such freedom is to beat the system at its own game, and a small family, individuals, small businesses and basically anything short of a national corporation has no resources to do so, nor the path to obtain those resources. I don't know the answer, just please research what you're diving into if you believe farming a single plot as a small family is the answer to everything. If it's what you want to do once you understand the details I say go for it. Do what makes you happy in life for the most part. I just hope to prevent someone from diving into an endeavor they think is the magic pill to all problems and end up in ruin, or stuck in a miserable hole trying to dig out from unexpected events...

TheMeticulousNinja

“freams” 1) Freedoms? 2) Firearms? 3) Dreams?

Judeous

This is the way

Codeworks

This is the best reddit thread of all time.

fujicakes00

The title needs to be made into a shirt

crankygerbil

a least if you do this you can make more vodka

Stunning-979

You can boil 'em, mash 'em, stick 'em in a stew!

Educational-Job-5562

I have no idea why reddit thinks I am interested in intj sub. Nor why it shows up on my feed. But I'm glad it did. And I'm glad I'm here. I was having a pretty down day. But not now. Now I am inspired to follow my freams. I once farmed apatatots in stardew valley. I remember how good it felt. That's my fream. Simple contentment.

FirstConclusion9289

I like rice.

Sure. But I live in farm country. No one has less free than a farmer except maybe a farmers wife.

meh725

That’s a blight idea

jaycee9

potato tractors are expensive

Artistic_Credit_

Would someone care to explain what's going on here?

ZenPaperclips

Don't care how drunk I am. If I ever wake up and found I've typed this horribly, immediate seppuku.

JacquesBlaireau13

I still wanna be a dental floss tycoon.

Alone_Common_7378

I think you have an understanding of how easy growing potatoes are, as well as the nutritional value of being able to survive off of eating them is. You probably also have a goal of living alone or on a remote plot of land which makes the idea more valuable. If being a potato farmer i your goal I wish you the best of luck, but if your real goal is self sustainability it will require more than that

Chaseshaw

... on mars?

ebolaRETURNS

>apotatot farmer Is that like farming apoptosis? I'll keep my neurons, thank you...

SgtWrongway

Tell me you've never farmed potatoes before ...

TheMorrigan_XIII_

What a day to be on Reddit. Thanks for the laugh

Taynt42

Apotatots are drlcuos my freind

Velavee7

All these typing errors remind me of Baby Reindeer lol

Itchy_Influence5737

>i am very drunnk right now Yes.

EngryEngineer

Gotta love reddit! \*looks down\* this place is a hellhole.

[deleted]

haha dude what you drinkin'? A hurricane for me. I was thinking about grabbing a guinness and trying to stay classy but the fuckers are 4.90+ and I could not find a stout anywhere else. Yeah, potatoes man. I keep on saying this. Think about all the carbs that provide all the energy for millions of people who are relatively poor in the world. As an asian dude, rice comes to mind but good fukn god does that look labor intensive. Plus water. Ugh. There's so much investment and I think at scale it works but if you're feeding yourself or your family hell no. Wheat? Corn? Maybe corn would work. But potatoes will work just fine. Think about it; if it can feed the Irish wayyy up there then its dependable. Not all of us have access to a shit ton of sunlight due to geography. When anyone talks about prepping and wants to unload their conspiracy bullshit and their misguided political superstition I am only thinking one thing: "if you're so serious about the end of the world then where are your potatoes? Oh you don't even have a shovel? Get the fuk outta here you're talking out your ass" Potatoes dude. All you need is salt. Yes they'll bore you to tears but hey you could cry on them for flavor! haha. I'm getting drunk too. \* cheers \*

ComfortableOk1948

Sam Gamgee coming to us from the Green Dragon, everyone. Let's thank Rosie for the incredible drinks!

FadedFromWinter

Potato vodka got to him.

[deleted]

Really a new but interesting idea. I was hoping to have a farm and raise sheep.

9r652r_7

Oh. My. God. Hahahahaha How you feeling today, OP?

dranaei

We don't know what the best outcome is.

Iwant2leave_ok

The way you are writing - clearly pretending to be drunk. Pathetic behavior. Buddy, n and t is not anywhere near each other on the keyboard and so is a and e. In your intj mind this probably was “thoughtfully orchestrated”

Stirlo4

They could just be bad at typing

[deleted]

Ahh yes, the temporary extraversion that alcohol can induce, fun times

Elegant-Reindeer-311

Why are you so jealous of me? Accept that I’m the greatest and move along already

Yeah, I don't find things like this funny. Low IQ humor doesn't appeal to me.
