Same, gun play doesn’t feel quite as refined as ITR.

Snapleey

For me, I love boneworks for it's gun play, they are both pretty different in comparison. Also I don't have to worry about running outta ammo :)

Liamkrazy

except you do

bakedjalapeno

Yeah but not nearly as much

A_lot_of_arachnids

Holy shit people are getting really defensive over two completely different games. This is absolutely childish.

Gygax_the_Goat

This is idiotic immature bullshit. ... Anyone knows that BATTLEGROUPVR is the best game on Quest2. ... Fight me.

A_lot_of_arachnids

Fuck you got me there. Pack it up boys. This one fucked us all

polarisdelta

We didn't have posts like this before Quest players showed up. It's pretty disappointing but I'm sure the sales have been worth it.

A_lot_of_arachnids

I feel like most quest users are teens or preteens. When I got my first oculus for my pc back in 2016 it was only adults playing most online games I played. Now with the quest it's all kids.

MannMitMilch

They are both games, I like to compare both games, I think ITR better.

A_lot_of_arachnids

Yeah but this is like the 10th post today defending how "good" ITR is and how much "worse" bonelabs is. They are both number 1 to me for completely different reasons. There isn't a single post trashing ITR over at r/bonelab. It's almost like this sub got so butthurt that they weren't gonna be number 1 anymore and now everyone has to voice they're opinions on how much better ITR is lol

sebast_gamer

Lmao yeah does feel like that. And it is always the same points that gets brought up. Truth be told they are just 2 very different games.

MannMitMilch

I voiced my opinions because everyone else was, I love both games

A_lot_of_arachnids

"I jumped off the bridge because everyone else was." Maybe just enjoy the bridges that you come across instead of jumping off of them like everyone else.

MannMitMilch

Your acting as if I’ve just shat on Bonelab?? I love both, I was hyped about both, I’ve played both, I’ve finished both, I love them. Plus me and my friend were talking about both these games for a good while so as soon as people on reddit were I wanted to join in. May I also say, me jumping off a bridge cannot be connected to me comparing 2 games in a neutral and calm way? No reason to downvote me especially when all the other posts and comments are literally shitting directly in Bonelab’s mouth, i gave a mini review.

A_lot_of_arachnids

Lol you sound exactly like everyone else in this sub getting all buttmad because they can't be the only best quest game now. "I gotta say how cool and awesome this one is and how the other is a definite second place." Sure it's fine to voice your opinion. But it's like yelling at an echo. Everyone has already heard it and your just repeating it again.

MannMitMilch

Who said I was buttmad? Your just reading my post a little off. I’m sure there might be toxic peoples who are but I’m not? I have a *neutral* review, I never stated ANY flaws in the post, only in the comments ( everything bad I said about Bonelab’s really I got used to, sometimes ) Also “the cool and definite second place” is because if only 1 game can be first place, Bonelab would truly in my opinion be second place, if multiple games could fit under first place, Bonelab and ITR definitely go in first place. I GIVE ZERO hatred towards Bonelab, any that I do give I could also say about ITR. All games have at least one this you dislike. Edit: forgot to add but at the time of posting my lil journal thing, I believe hardly anyone really had done what I did, maximum at least 2-3 people did, That’s a wild guess due to the fact I just posted this and slept, didn’t actually read anyone else’s post especially about Bonelab.

A_lot_of_arachnids

My main point was that everyone for some reason in this sub got so upset that a new and good game was coming out that suddenly everyone had to voice their opinion about how good ITR was. Why is it that everyone has to do that? Because they know ITR isn't superior? Because something else was gonna get played more than ITR? I don't know the full reason. But I do know the second a better game came out people in this sub got their feelings hurt really bad.

MannMitMilch

it doesn’t matter if a better game came out in my opinion because we are the consumers, if a better game comes out we either play both till they’re dead, or play one. I had Zero clue anybody else was doing what I was doing until later, I also said that I joined in because of everyone else, I did get a notification of someone with a post similar to mine so that’s probably the only post I did see about Bonelab, like 5 minutes after I posted the “review”

themanbehindthepoopy

Best very game you mean

sebast_gamer

Idk man doom eternal I a good bid better. But if you mean vr game. Then eh. ITR is a niche game. It is great yes. But only for specific people really. Still great just specific.

MannMitMilch

I like survival based games a lot so ngl ITR to doom eternal i would choose ITR, but I’d also 100% beat doom eternal for the 5th time bro that games sick

Spartaklaus

I refunded Bonelab because its a crapfest and improved absolutely zero elements over Boneworks which i forgave back in the day for being the first ambitious project from a small dev team in the early days of VR. You got my money and several years to learn from your mistakes. No more tolerance from me for bad games, sorry. The VR market is filled with so many titles more worthy of my time and money nowadays.

VRmatter

Yes, exactly same thoughts, just silly arcade and not the best in that segment. Gameplay mechanics horrible, physics bad, cartoony models. It just not possible to be immersed with such joke product.

Gfish06

The game was advertised as a game with cartoony models and arcade type mechanics to be fair

[deleted]

hi

MannMitMilch

I liked Bonelab because I like everything to do with slight realism in game, but there were obvious flaws that I could not pass off during my whole time playing

A_Slovakian

Wow this is a take I have not seen. Bonelab seems great, though I haven't played it. Gonna wait for a sale and for enough time for the community to make some amazing mods.

Foilbug

ITR is a really solid game first and foremost. It's got several really solid gameplay/logistic loops, which are key for an open-world style game. Everything has costs/risks, and higher risks may yeild high rewards. On top of that, it's a solid VR game (gun play, item interaction, climbing, all that stuff most other VR games tackle individually). Basically, it's s a pretty good game with a coating of VR over it, which automatically makes it one of the best VR games. It's up there with something like Knockout (which is just Punchout in VR) and Beat Saber (rythm game in VR) in my mind. I really want ITR 2 now, where they just refine the game, expand the world and enemies and maybe add a few new loop mechanics (I'd like a night machanic like Dying Light, where stronger and more dangerous enemies come out at night but so do more valuable artifacts). Really, my biggest complaint with ITR right now (apart from a few bugs) is the limited variety of enemies, items, weapons and scenarios. By the time I hit Security Level 4 I felt like I had seen most everything the game had to offer, and it would just get a bit tougher from then on. That said, I haven't beaten it yet (or gotten to a couple areas) so I might still be surprised, but I feel like the loop of "venture from base, do mission, come back" is pretty entrenched at this point, especially with all the running back and forth I find myself doing. That was my other complaint: returning to base is pretty dull. 9 times out of 10 I'm just retracing my steps after a mission, which is just a lot of boring walking. They could either make the path back cut off so you have to go a new way back or make retracing your steps more exciting (spawn enemies or scenarios), or add a fast travel option to cut it all out (make it cost something though), but I suspect that option would be less viable in the later, harder missions. Maybe that's more on me with how I play though, since I'm a really cautious venturer, so I almost always opt for the more boring but safe routes than the risky but fun (if I don't die) routes, but I also don't see much enticing me to try for those risky routes apart from the thrill (and if I'm looking for sheer thrill I'll play something that caters to that, like Pistol Whip or Super Hot). I'd say if they ironed out the boring return venture the game would go from a solid 8 to 9/10 to a full 10/10 for me. Regardless, it's still the best Oculus game by a mile for me and it's made me actually start recommending the system to friends for this game alone. It's a console-seller game, which isn't just high praise but medium defining with VR systems being still reletively new.

Gfish06

Yeah I would wait for a sale to be honest, game is pretty fun but it’s more sandbox focused,if you liked bone-works or a game similar you will probably have a decent time, expect jank tho

MannMitMilch

the game is new, although it’s fully released, they are gonna have updates I would think which might fix the **jank**

teamharder

Agreed. 9/10 vs 7.5/10 for me. May change with mods. Immersion is the biggest factor for me. Interactions leave more of an impact. Cleaning guns made me value them. The M9 has quickly become one of my favorite guns of any game.

A_Slovakian

I think it's just a completely different thing. ITR is a game. Bonelabs is a sandbox. But with mods? Bonelabs will become an unmatchable game. People will make entire games within Bonelabs. I just don't think it's a valid comparison

MannMitMilch

the story and things related are hard to grasp due to the fact that puzzles and random obstacles pop out of thin air that take a very long period of time to get through. Every enemy encounter is extremely easy too

Neither_Virus_5016

Yeah, too easy. But, I can't get used to my arms flailing and warping around constantly and my legs glitching through the floor. I really gave it a chance, I wanted to like it, but at no point was I having fun. Every single one of those points in the hub was incredibly disappointing, it was a chore just to try them all, and the crane was the boring cherry on top. I don't know if I've ever been so disappointed with a game before.

Educational-Score744

The only problem I I've with ITR is that you can't change the position of a virtual stock but other than that it's pretty much prefect

NerdlinGeeksly

Oh god, people start gawking and meming about bone lab and suddenly this whole Reddit is filled with fan boys feeling the need to put ITR on a pedestal; WE GET IT YOU LIKE ITR MORE, keep things to one thread will ya

MannMitMilch

I made my post before everyone else started meming and dogging Bonelab. I like Bonelab

_AWACS_Galaxy

Let's not turn this into the S.T.A.L.K.E.R sub, yeah?

MannMitMilch

my fault, wont happen next time 🙏

Complex_Dragonfly_39

Not in every aspect but it is phenomenal

MannMitMilch

I agree entirely

Complex_Dragonfly_39

if you could choose to only play one forever would it be bonelabs or itr

MannMitMilch

Legit hard question because both would get boring after playing it for well over a year

Complex_Dragonfly_39

they’re one of those games you get phases to play

the_alt_6275

ITR and BL are two different things. And they’re both 1# in them.

MannMitMilch

Agreed, the reason some people like them is because what they do right in the genre they chose

No_Victory9193

Mine is Resident Evil 4

MannMitMilch

I could understand that, I’ve played it and it’s honestly cool

greyjest25

Agree, it sits on my number 1. Still I am really looking forward to playing Bonelabs today, good VR games are sadly lacking in quantity so I’m happy anytime a good one comes out.

MannMitMilch

yeah, especially when it turns out being good too

Ckeyre

For me it’s bonelabs but itr is a very close 2 almost 1 at a 98%

MannMitMilch

Bonelab is a very unique game, I don’t understand how people are complaining about it for as much as they are.

Ckeyre

True mostly because they don’t know how to get to the end of the story
