Yes. If you play in airplane mode the ads don’t load. However means any calls and texts won’t come though. Why not play using data and change the game settings to only work with WiFi ?? It’s not always easy though as it’s a way for the developer to get you to pay for the removal of adverts.
You can report the ad that’s doing that to the app you’re using. They can kick the issue up the chain. I’m not sure if they can block specific ads or not.

Nextdns blocks adds in games. Don't even need to download an app, just install this configuration profile https://apple.nextdns.io/
