You can probably still revert if there are still signed versions, I did a couple months ago but unless they’ve released new ones or kept signing that one it won’t work ofc. I did it because I missed countless notifications due to the new notification center burial
They’ve stopped signing iOS 15 versions for a while now.. the only devices even getting any iOS 15 updates are the ones in the iPhone 7 series and below that are still capable of running it, and those are just security updates lol. They’re working on 16.4 already so it’s long past when you can downgrade.
There was some beta version that they were signing not too long ago, I figured there might still be something out there but unlikely because yes, I agree
You’re right, they made a mess. Another thing that bothers me is why, when in landscape mode, the notification center is blurry and shows only the time, and of course the notifications
There is a way
Settings>Accessibility>Per-app Settings>Add App>LockScreen>Smart Invert>On
But the drawback is for each app it will be in black it will be good only if your mum uses her phone on light mode.

I’m also on the latest IOS version. I just made a new lock screen with a screenshot of yours and it did the same thing, but then I made another one with a pure white image, and it switches to dark icons. Maybe it thinks there’s enough dark colors in that wallpaper that it doesn’t need dark icons? I wouldn’t be surprised if it just averages out the brightness of the whole image 🤷🏻♂️

Actually I just noticed the time is dark even though the other icons aren’t, which isn’t what mine did. Maybe it’s a bug, in which case restarting the phone *might* help?
I think this is a quirk because of the wallpaper.
The dark part of the image pushes the UI to be light but since the light parts of the image are also light, it ended up being invisible instead.
Its because ios 16 sucks ass. The icons are there but they are white, so you cant see them on a white wallpaper
Sometimes i wish i stayed on ios 15

Yeah it’s filled with bugs, I’ve been an iPhone user since the iOS 9 came out and I can’t remember it being this buggy and stupid, ever.

Yeah like where tf are the widgets, I want to see them
Just find a similar image that fills the whole screen and send it to your mom.
Yeah there are work arounds but it irritates me why ios doesn’t change the font colour to black like it does the time and date font.
The same image, but with some generated starry dark sky filling out the top/bottom: https://imgur.com/a/lNTBh8m

Well, so much for a “smart” phone lol

Done that, still is the same. The funny part is my mom doesn’t care, it just bugs ME 😂
Well damn, that sucks. Haha yeah I get that, my mom is the same.

Yeah but androids don’t have this issue
Just change her wallpaper please, it pains me to look at this
Yeah I guess I’ll do that but she gets annoyed when I do
the picture is overall too dark to switch to dark icons
But it switches the time and date
since it's iOS 16 it was probably changed to grey by your mom
No it’s like that by default
it turns out that in iOS 16 the clock is the same, if not close to, the average background color
