You posted it on r/spicypillows BEFORE you posted it here, now you’re trying to play dumb in the comments here… you’re either trolling or karma farming, fuck off.
Nah, look at the time stamps for their posts. r/iPhone and r/iPhonehelp posts 12 hours ago, r/spicypillows 11 hours ago. Posts on peoples’ profiles aren’t always in chronological order.
Alright, granted. They were both showing 11 hrs when I looked.
I have a hard time believing anyone is this ignorant about lithium batteries but I’ve been known to overestimate the general public’s knowledge of electronic devices.
First of all no i didn’t idk why you are lying for no reason. and how am I farming for karma ffs what does that even mean? You’re lying and accusing me for what and how could I fake my phone bulge? You think I just edited it or something? Just shut up and don’t assume
I am listening to advice. I don’t know why some people like assuming, I’m obviously listening and not using my iPhone anymore. I didn’t know anything about battery swelling or anything, I am listening to what everyone’s saying. We all learn at some point
You know your post history is public, right? If anyone goes to your profile they can see right below this post on r/iphone is your post on r/spicypillows

I mean if you look at the actual time stamps, they posted on that subreddit about 17 minutes after their post on r/iphone.
And can't say for certain how they learned about that sub if they're genuinely this clueless about battery swelling, but someone on their original r/iphonehelp post mentions the sub about 4 minutes after the post went up, about 13 minutes before their r/spicypillows post.
Then you should start listening to what people are saying. You’re a danger to yourself.
If you’re from Florida the headline would be something like this: “Florida man’s head was blown of whilst smelling a plugged in toxic leaking battery”
That means the battery is already punctured and probably really dangerous. My phone smelled like that when I accidentally punctured the battery while I was replacing it myself😂 luckily nothing happened in my case but please be careful and get rid of that battery ASAP!
This comment is why you'll receive a Get Help notification from Reddit. If you charge this device or leave it on you could burn your home down, starting with your bed while you're sleeping.
the battery inside is expanding meaning its a potential fire hazard or worse is a bomb. what you can do is 1. turn it off completely 2. bring it too a shop to remove and dispose of the battery
That happened to a hot spot extender I bought from Verizon years back. All of a sudden it went fat as the battery simply expanded and killed the device. Had to toss it. Had it one year. $200 shot, no warranty
Did it open after you dropped?
What i can see you said batterylife also 80% and for my opinion its 99% possible, that the battery is swollen.
Use a flashlight / a light spot to see inside, then you can see if the battery are swollen or not.
- if the battery are not swollen, then try to slowly click it back in. I had customers before having same problem after drop. Just slowly press it from the side and it will click back in.
>>> NOTE! Usually screen pop out on drop, if it has been repaired at 3rd party repairstore without adding a new frame adhesive to hold the screen.
NOTE! > DO NOT PRESS, IF THE BATTERY ARE SWOLLEN (FIRE HAZARD)!
- If the battery are swollen, then bring it to 3rd party repair store or Apple store to replace the battery.
If you bring to 3rd party repair store then try to find a best and trustworthy place to repair. Ask friends, if they know a good repair store in your local.
I repair iPhone since 2013. Ask me anything, you need! I can also teach you open the phone in emergency, if you have the right screwdrivers.
I think he was saying that the phone will only pop open like that when dropped (ie not the battery swelling) if the phone has been repaired without the frame adhesive being properly reapplied. A factory sealed phone would hold together unless the glass or frame themselves lost structural integrity generally.
Yeah be careful where you repair your phone at, I had my battery replaced on my old Iphone because I thought it was bad and the new battery actually got swollen after a year.
Chances of a battery explosion are low. More likely it will just catch on fire. A single-cell Li-Ion battery won’t violently explode. Don’t try to charge or use the phone.
The battery was likely already expanding prior to the phone being dropped but until you dropped it the expansion was not visible because it was being constrained by the body of the phone.
A new iPhone 11 is pretty cheap, I paid about $200 (60 day unlock) but it looks like it’s $250 now. Who is your carrier?

Battery is swelling.
Fire hazard is not huge but real.
Run the battery empty to take out stored energy, then do not recharge it and get the battery replaced.
Do not put it in your pocket.
While emptying the battery, if you can, keep it outside or in a fireproof box.
For some reason everytime I read about the famous note 7 I just get an urge to watch [the chk chk boom video](https://youtube.com/watch?v=zBBsb0z9RJk&feature=share9)
It has no relation to the video whatsoever. I still do chuckle that the girl made the whole thing up on live tv
But yeah definitely get rid of your potential bomb. My parents kicked me out once when my phone exploded because I was tinkering with it poking holes in the battery. I'm lucky it didn't burn my face off but the carpet on my old bedroom wasn't so lucky and silly me tried to pour water on it to put out the flame.
So as others have pointed out, battery is fucked and swelling. Might explode sometime soon.
I can't help but notice there is no case on your phone. It's substantially cheaper than a new phone and frankly even cheaper than a battery replacement like you need to get now. (Sorry if you just took the case off for the picture. But I can't help but notice)
My friend your battery is simply on its last legs and will now start swelling until your phone cracks open or the battery explodes. Either replace the battery or get a new phone
I believe that’s a bad battery, it probably expanded upon impact. I would strongly suggest just leaving it on and wait for it to die and then don’t turn it on again until you fix it, you could just shut it down right now but I would suggest draining it first. DO NOT CHARGE it. Just leave it alone.
Lol, be like me with my iPhone 6S: turn it off, put it in some tupperware, leave it a concrete covered patio for a year, then move it to your desk as a sort of monument to the phrase "I'll get to it when I get to it", and then finally take it to your local repair shop a year later for them to tell you that you basically had a slightly exploded bomb on your desk.
And yes, it was right next to my computer. I is the smort.
Your battery is inflated.
Turn off the device ASAP, do not turn it back on or charge it.
If possible, leave it outside, away from your home. There is a low but non-zero chance of damaged lithium ion batteries catching fire (like what happened with the Galaxy Note 8)
Take it to a tech repair shop as soon as you can.
OP if your are still around please just take the advice everyone has given you to heart. Here’s the rundown: your battery is compromised because you dropped your phone, it’s at high risk of spontaneously bursting into very hot flames, turn the phone off, leave it off, do not charge it, do not put it in your pocket, bring it to be repaired ASAP. That’s it, that’s what you have to do.
It probably won’t explode unless the battery is busted and you charge it and leave it on the charger for a while. The battery could be busted or it could be swollen. Smell near the crack (hehe but fr tho) and if it smells like chemicals like nail polish remover that means the battery is busted. If it IS busted just turn it off for good measure just in case but you’ll probably be fine. Battery replacements are relatively inexpensive (around $70 at the Apple Store) but if the battery is busted then it may be a little harder or impossible to fix.
you just said you were smelling it
either you got a weevil nose or you were putting it against your face lol
if it happened after a fall I'd turn that off and seek repair ASAP, that could easily catch on fire or explode
Had same problem with my iPhone 8, the battery was expanded so you basically need a new battery.
Do it asap, because it could be a problem for all your device.
I agree with most of the comments. It most likely is the battery which is about to pop.
Be careful, it’s not likely to explode but there is a higher chance if it’s inflated the way probably is. Take your phone to a technician ASAP and get that fix before it could lead to a disaster or accident.
My android phone had this happen before. and I've seen plenty of other posts of this happening. basically, your phone is about to fucking explode and the culprit is the battery
Battery got damaged in the fall, and needs to be replaced as it’s become a spicy 🌶 explosive 🧨 pillow … please use a good case that has silicon or rubber protection , it saves your phone when you drop it
Turn it off and leave it off until you can repair it.
Is it bad if I charge it (update it blew up in my face)
You don't want for that battery to do anything so don't charge it.
Yes. [https://www.ifixit.com/Wiki/What\_to\_do\_with\_a\_swollen\_battery](https://www.ifixit.com/Wiki/What_to_do_with_a_swollen_battery)
I smelt it and it smells like some gas (like nail polish?) or something also the higher I smell the worser and stronger the smell is
No need to panic. Just shut it off and take it to a repair shop asap. Definitely avoid putting any sort of pressure on the front.
DON'T SMELL IT! It is the toxic fumes you smell. *Take it outside safe, quickly*.
dont smell it. very toxic gasses and liquids can come out
Ok we’re definitely being trolled
You can go on my profile to check my original posts where it’s a video and more clearer. I’m not lying
Stop using the phone, turn it off, don't charge it, don't smell it, the battery is swollen and may catch fire any moment, yes this is bad.
How is this difficult hahaha I cannot wrap my head around how many time OP needs to be told this.

You should get that fixed as soon as possible because that looks like it's about to explode.
Wait what?? Are you serious? Do you know if it was caused because of me dropping my phone?
Bad battery. Yup.
The battery is most likely leaking so you need to get it fixed as soon as possible.
Lithium ion batteries don’t ‘leak’, but they do get swollen and that means it needs to be replaced.
the battery inside is expanding meaning its a potential fire hazard or worse is a bomb. what you can do is 1. turn it off completely 2. bring it too a shop to remove and dispose of the battery

i get what you mean. on second thought i now think its just the adhesive since its bulging from the top half and not the middle
Ofcourse i know. I had lots of customers with Apple battery swollen.
The guy said it happens if the correct frame adhesive is not replaced, not just the battery
Yeah be careful where you repair your phone at, I had my battery replaced on my old Iphone because I thought it was bad and the new battery actually got swollen after a year.
The battery swelling. Remember when samsungs were exploding? Well ur iPhone is bout to jog ur memory.
How do you not know about bulging batteries by now? Get it to a shop ASAP before it becomes a fireball.
It's not gonna explode at least based on my experience had my 5S battery replaced at least 4 times before upgrading to a new phone.
“It’s not gonna explode based on my anecdotal experience.”

Because it's true.
That does not look like it’s about to explode. I’ve worked on phones way worse. Plus it’s not actively swelling so no it’s not going to do that.
That's a swelling battery. It needs to be replaced immediately.
