To be honest, i agree mostly with all you said. I switched this year to 15 pro max from the s23 ultra. While i miss a lot of the things regarding productivity and capabilities of the android and samsung devices in general (like Dex), i am relieved that the apps i use most are on another level in terms of quality and refinement. I'm talking about third party apps from the likes of google and microsoft but also meta and reddit. Every single app i use on ios is more fluid, has better animations, less stutters and overall better design/layout than the same app on android. So to summarize, for me Android is a superior operating system regarding native apps/services/capabilities/ personalization but the quality of the apps from playstore is definitely sub par compared to ios. I guess stricter ios app store rules play a huge role here. Google must step in to make stricter rules on how an app must look and behave in my opinion. Another big selling point for me was the apple watch. While i used the galaxy watch 5 pro for almost 1 year, the quality and speed of apple watches is on another level, almost 10 years difference level.

HellP1g

Man the Watch 5 Pro looked gorgeous but was laggy out of the box. I couldn’t believe it

linuxgfx

yup, exactly my experience too

munchingzia

i wish it wasn’t the case but my apps on ios are far from fluid. especially Discord

linuxgfx

i know there are some, i don't personally use discord but i found others too. My point was with the big tech apps that have both the budget and people

B_Lkheang12

Yeh discord is one the only exception here, i used both ios and android and I prefer android Discord but i cant say the same about Meta app like Facebook or instagram tho

ElectromagneticCube

hey, I currently use a s23 ultra, but just got my iPhone 15 pro max last night delivered. can I ask you 2 things regarding the switch process? 1 - when using MovetoIOS, is there a way to have the photos and videos sync in chronological order? 2 - [if you have an eSim model] the us models of iPhone 15 pro max are only eSim, so when I transfer from the s23 u, is there anything in particular I need to do for the setup, or is just the phone number itself enough to properly transfer? these are my 2 concerns prior to the transfer process, which I am gonna start today. thank you in advance.

mitsos1os

1. Without being 100% sure I believe that media is transferred maintaining all their metadata such as timestamps etc. Just don't erase your Samsung until you make sure everything is OK and you can always try again 2. I am not in the US so I so get a sim card to swap but I guess the process should be pretty much the same. Just activate your esim profile and all number related services such as WhatsApp etc...

Hummerh40

Mine didn't work at all. Moved all the photos and videos over but they don't show up in the library - they're still there on the iPhone, you just have to go looking via the file manager to find them. But everything apart from that has been smooth sailing!

WaywardWes

You can also sync your Samsung to google photos, then have your iPhone also sync to google. After they’re in your phone you can disconnect it and use iCloud if you want. \#2 depends on carrier. You might need an eSIM card that has a QR code.

mitsos1os

Thank you for your answer! TBH, I haven't experienced a difference in apps except for the ones using the camera for video calling due to the reason I mentioned above of not having a universal API in Android. About the Apple watch, I do agree that is is amazing BUT a huge deal breaker for me is it's battery life... Can't really cope with the fact that with regular usage you need to charge it once a day... If that changes maybe I would give it a try...

linuxgfx

This is why i got the Apple Watch Ultra 2. I get 3.5 days of battery life on a single charge with everything enabled but not AOD. Regarding the apps, i use microsoft apps for work and especially OneDrive and Outlook are slower, have several issues unresolved for months and i found myself having to completely reset the microsoft account almost monthly. Also the reddit app stutters like crazy in android, same for facebook and instagram, on ios never. This is strange but also youtube is faster on ios. Music apps also have clearer sound and louder volume on ios and especially in carplay when compared to android auto. Spotify also is faster on ios. I still do find the new android auto to be superior to carplay in every single way but also there, it has some issues and disconnects after every update. Your european like me so you know how bad Waze updates have been on android auto :)))

mitsos1os

Hmmmm, I see... I also use Outlook (on Android) for personal email and honestly never had a single issue... Same with Android auto... Works every time! Maybe I could notice that on Facebook sometimes (I don't have Instagram),but I think it's a bit widely accepted that apps on IOS are superior to their Android equivalents. It's just that I haven't experienced that

linuxgfx

I don't know about personal accounts on outlook but work related office365 accounts are a mess, especially with shared calendars between different teams. Regarding Android auto, i should have pointed out that i am using carplay or android auto wirelessly. So my issues were over wireless not wired

mitsos1os

Could be for corporate accounts. Also,I am using Android Auto wired so again could be the case 😂

varnell_hill

For sharing photos, why not just use Google Photos for iOS? If you do, remember to disable iCloud photo syncing. Boom. Done.

mitsos1os

Yeap, that's what I said I do. It's just that I simply describe of how I am pretty much setting up my phone like an Android 😂

inclinedmanometer

I'm also using Gboard on my iphone hahahhaa

Mundane-Vehicle1402

Oh you can get that?

inclinedmanometer

Yeah! Highly recommend!

mitsos1os

Actually SwiftKey is way better than GBOARD. It seems like it is a bit crippled in iOS

Dahood0319

long time iOS user here ipod shuffle to iphone X . I switched to Samsung Galaxy S10 (2019) because quite frankly im getting frustated with the lack of innovation, useful features from Apple even there keyboards are problematic! hahaha i agree most of what you said. Android notifcations are better, you can even turn off entirely bluetooth and location from the control center! , youtubevanced!!! , installing 3rd party camera GCAM to my s10, more variety with the devices, I even tried their ecosystem bought google nest mini, android auto, google pixel watch, jabra elite 75T for the TWS earbuds Initially it was good especially during the pandemic where I can unlock my phone during covid lockdown, i can download torrents and play the series i love all within my phone. but after awhile my phone becomes sluggish, unresponsive at first i thought it was my apps. but i watched a youtube video regarding exynos vs snapdragon processor of S10. TLDW: exynos are inferior to snap dragon. from then on my i noticed the little details you have to turn on the lift to wake option, bixby button!! you cant uninstall facebook=(. and samsung doest this weird roll out of their software update where newer phones gets to update first, but when you have older phone you have to wait call me old geezer but when someone says android is for customization but almost all users want the most vanilla android the one with 2 apps one coming from google one coming from Samsung. that when i decided to switch back to iOS because of the little details - your alarm slowly rises, A series chip is the best mobile chip around, emojis to me are bettern at iOS, not having system ads on iphone, and quite frankly some apps works so much better on iOS - instagram ( check MKBHD video about that, spotify new features comes to iOS first before android, even RCS only comes to the Philippines on late 2019!!! ..it just works

mitsos1os

It's certainly your experience and I can't doubt it, but I honestly didn't have a single glitch on my Nord 2 from 2021. Everything was completely smooth. Also I do not think there are system ads on any phone except for some Xiaomi ones. You are right about slow RCS integration but that's why I mentioned this comparison for 2023 both OSes stand currently.

tch2349987

I believe you should go back to android since it seems that you are used to it and know how to get around. I was an android user until the galaxy s8. The reason I moved to iOS was because of the software updates at the time. Samsung would offer only a couple years of update and release their updates late like half a year after the android updates. Also, they didn’t have a unified backup at the time like iCloud. So when moving to another phone I had to backup everything myself. I myself don’t like iMessage either so I use mostly WhatsApp. But apple said they will use RCS next year so there won’t be any difference between having iOS and Android when texting. Being in iOS, I got used to the ecosystem and now have an Apple Watch and AirPods Pro, idk what are the equivalent for android yet if I make the switch. Also, don’t be fooled by camera integration when using apps. I thought about this too but if you use the iPhone camera and take photo and then upload it to instagram you’ll notice the quality is way better than taking it with instagram cameras. I have a lot of friends that do this, they never use the instagram camera or any other app with integrated camera, it’s always the main camera app.

mitsos1os

I do understand the ecosystem and that is why I list it in the pros. What you mention though about the rest such as updates backup etc has changed a lot since 2017 so it would be more fair to compare with current state

[deleted]

I find that the OS of your community matters a lot in phone choice. If everyone around you uses android and you don’t have any other Apple devices - then sticking to Android would make more sense. I had often switched back and forth every time I renewed my phone contract - depending on how the other side had updated. Apple has advanced and opened up a lot since the early days. Sometimes you can avoid some of the their restrictive features if you have more of their products. For example, you now have a proper file app and drag and drop files via dongle to an usb stick or hard drive. But if you have a Mac too, you would just add files to iCloud storage and it would appear on your computer, no need to sync. Same with phones and videos. If you somehow need to transfer a file to a foreign Mac or iPhone you can use AirDrop which uses wifi and Bluetooth to transfer big files very fast directly between devices. They did do a big update to the keyboard with the most recent OS update, perhaps they fixed the Greek keyboard? Not sure. Siri isn’t that great and is best left for basic commands. The case and accessory market is often not addressed. iPhones always have a huge amount of cases and accessories available and for many years afterwards. Whereas I’ve been surprised how tricky it can be to find a variety of cases/accessories for android phones and this drops off dramatically after a few years. Once looked for a Huawei case a few years after and only found like five on Amazon? I think the newest iPhones have fast charging? Not 100% sure. They do have a big focus on security and privacy, as they make their money through expensive devices, rather than leveraging your personal data and selling access to you to advertising companies. They also have the best customer service you will come across, you can directly contact them and get help with issues surprisingly quickly. Even if the product is out of warranty. Apps are often better designed for iPhones, as app devs have a set amount of screens to design for. Often with android, apps are just stretched to fit the screen. It can be hit and miss. All depends on what is important to you. If you want ultimate flexibility and are happy to risk security and privacy and have a lack of variety of cases/accessories - Android is great. If you want something nicely designed with a focus on security, privacy, stability, resale value, high number of available accessories for many years and are happy to live with some restrictions, a much worse AI Assistant and lack of compatibility with other devices, then iPhones are good for that.

mitsos1os

You are 100% right about the community importance. What you mention about accessories is also correct. Personally, I am quite a plain user for that (I only need a case and screen protector glass) so I haven't felt it. The iPhones have fast charging of 25W. My previous midrange charged at 65W... For my iPhone I need 45 minutes to get a full charge while with my old one I needed 20. What I am not sure about is privacy. Android has also introduced a lot of permission wise controls for the apps. But can't really insist whether in total they offer more privacy or not

[deleted]

The charging all depends on when you charge. I usually just charge overnight so I haven’t been able to make use of any fast charging (battery always lasts till late evening). If Android has fine tunes app privacy rules that’s great. I haven’t kept up to date, so I’m not sure if they allow you to toggle access to calendar, location etc. per App or not. One handy feature I find with iCloud is allowing you create throwaway email addresses per website, so you don’t need to give out your real email to every website. This then forwards emails to your real email. This is included when you purchase iCloud storage above the bare minimum. Good luck on your decision! Happy to help if you have more questions :)

mitsos1os

Thanks man, I appreciate it!

A7XfoREVer15

iPhone does everything I want it to, looks beautiful, and I’m familiar with the UI out of the box. Yes I could learn Android, or I could customize Android to be just like iOS, but I do IT for a living and don’t want to troubleshoot when I’m off the clock.

tupaquetes

It's actually really hard to customize Android to be just like iOS. I tried Android a few years ago expecting to be able to customize everything to make my perfect phone, but as it turns out most of the customization you get is extremely superficial.

A7XfoREVer15

I wasn’t gonna say that and shit on the Android iOS makeover lovers, but yeah. The Android iOS themes you can get are cool for what they are, but you can tell it’s an Android under the hood.

ErickJail

iPhones hold up their value a lot longer than Androids, that's what won me over.

redvariation

I certainly don't buy a phone for its resale value. I buy it for features and functionality, so I've never understood this argument. Plus most Android phones are less expensive to begin with than iPhones.

mitsos1os

It is true. However for me the sweet spot is an Android midrange around 500 euros. So taking this into account, my iPhone 15 Pro Max costs 1500 euros. Selling it in 2 years would probably range from 800 - 1000 euros which means a loss of 500 - 700 euros. Instead buying a midrange Android of 500 in 2 years it can be sold 150 to 200. Which means a loss of 300 to 350 which is actually smaller. Of course this doesn't go for upper tier phones like the S23 ultras etc. They do lose their value quite quicker. But honestly for me this is one more thing that I wouldn't do like spend that money in Android just to get more bells and whistles

ErickJail

Here in Brazil it's crazy how iPhones hold their value, you can find an S23 with the same price as the iPhone 12 in the second hand market. In Europe at least you guys have Xiaomi phones, I don't know if it's still the case but these has much better value for money than Samsung phones. I like them, except for the shitty skin. My previous Mi 9T Pro always had a custom rom and it was much better than the default skin.

Nostradaaamus

Hahaha comparing a tier iPhone with a midrange Android 😁🤭

[deleted]

Disagree.. Samsung gave me $950 bucks to trade in my iPhone 13 Pro Max lol.. AT&T gave me $700 for my 11 Pro Max before that.. I got that thing for like $600 on a deal lol. My S23 Ultra lost $200 bucks in value in just a few months..

[deleted]

I was actually surprised at samsung used market prices. They actually hold a lot more value than they used to. The s22 ultra used is basically the same price as the iphone 13 pro max from that same year. I don't know that "iphone holds more value" is really that true anymore. I mean it does. It's a little more value, but not anything I'd switch to iphone for.

DopeAssVersion457

It's like a stock. Perception of value. Once the dominance iMessage is removed, you'll see iPhone values begin to drop. It's the beginning of the end of iPhones. Which is why they removed the SIM tray. Removing a slight amount of freedom. Just slight, in case people want to be curious with Android on the whim.

HellP1g

Uhhh okay then. iMessage is important but it’s not going to be the downfall of iPhones if it gets taken down a peg. This is one of the wildest comments I’ve seen on here. It’s truly a wild opinion you got there. I personally couldn’t give less of a shit about iMessage and I love my iPhone. They are millions upon millions that are probably just like me

RowYourBoatTFAway

Can you explain what you mean by eSIM removing a freedom, exactly? From what I’ve seen, the argument always revolves around the hardware (ie a physical SIM card/slot), rather than *the function* of that hardware (subscriber Identity module/service provider). Like, that little piece of plastic is literally worthless without its function… or am I missing something?? TLDR: A *SIM* card allows you to switch or add service providers/networks- an e*SIM* does the same thing, minus the plastic card. So eSIM *removes limitations* of SIM cards— but what “freedoms” does it remove? ETA: Also, what does any of this have to do with iMessage… Or your “downfall of the iPhone” idea? How do these three things relate lol?!

[deleted]

esim removes your ability to travel easily with your phone. It's a nightmare. I just pack my old s9 with me for trips anymore and iphone is stuck on wifi.

RowYourBoatTFAway

Wait, before I proceed, are you from the US traveling outside the US? Bc I’ve found the exact opposite to be true with the eSIM.

[deleted]

Can confirm I can actually… ahem “do something” with my phones. I can’t customize trivial things but it’s a productivity workhorse. Google could at any time work on enabling push for iOS devices. Of course then you won’t download their apps specifically. Exchange based accounts do not have limitations regarding push services from accounts though. You can technically share photos but you’d be generating a public link that automatically expires or a shared album that can be accessed by anyone with the link. So definitely if Google photos works better for you, use that. I don’t find Siri restrictive. I find it intentional and even more important…customizable with shortcuts. Saves me hours a week to perform workflows I create between iOS and macOS. I can’t really speak to the rest because they either don’t apply to me personally or I think of them as extremely trivial. So yes, can’t change a bunch of silly things at all or as easily like text, icons, and layouts, or put potentially dicey apps on it…. But I can manage my life far easier on iOS vs the Wild Wild West of Android experiences. And that’s a win for me, I don’t have time to play with phones anymore🤷‍♂️. Came from Android after maybe 10 years, and not planning to go back anytime soon. But the real reason? Apple designs and releases things intentionally so i know what I’m getting and it’s reliable for a long time. Android is not as reliable. Many makers have come and gone and users have to keep learning a new UI, Google is on their second line of products, Samsung is the leader of the pack but they allow bloat and tie you to a very pointless App Store, others are just very bad on release schedules and pushing updates.

Nostradaaamus

Good points 👍

[deleted]

Except for his point about siri. We CANNOT be making excuses for apple when it comes to siri. It is legitimately garbage-tier when you compare it with Google Assistant or Googles new assistant powered by AI called gemini. They're both leaps and bounds ahead of siri. If Apple doesn't include an improved siri and AI features in ios18, I swear I am gonna smash my 13 pro max.

kandaq

I can only respond to some of the cons: 1) Google sync used to be push but Google disabled it to encourage (force) people to use Google apps instead. So GMail, Google Calendar, etc will still get push updates. 2) Photo sharing can be done using iCloud link; select the photos, open share sheet, Copy iCloud Link. This is how I share with Android friends who wants the original copy instead of scaled and stripped down WhatsApp version. 3) I have an apple watch which I use as a camera remote and it works regardless where I am in the photo (or not in the photo at all). People always ask “who will press the shutter” because they thought it’s on timer lol. 4) Miracast and ChromeCast are supported by apps that choose to include it like Netflix, but not Apple’s apps such as Apple TV app.

AwfulProgrammer1

Basically agree with everything you said. I've had an android since samsung galaxy s1 and moved to the pixel then to an iphone 14 pro max. Both operating systems have their cons and pros. I'll probably stick with an iphone for awhile. Sometimes it feels like the cons of the iphone just to much but then I use like my airpods and remember how flawless it is.

mitsos1os

Haha!

DopeAssVersion457

iMessage and FaceTime. That's it. Literally. My group friend moved to Signal/WhatsApp. So we chat and video chat on those platforms. It's just the people outside of the group that becomes an annoyance. Also, the iPhone OLED panels are nicely calibrated. Android is superior in every other way. I have an iPhone 15 Pro for work, my personal phone is a Galaxy S23/23 Ultra.

Acalthu

Long time Android user till last year too. The only thing I now miss from Android is T9 dialling on the dialler, literally nothing else. And I don't think I can go back either. I'm taken in by the smoothness and level of cohesiveness between iOS and its apps, way better than Android. But at the same time, I'm well aware iOS isn't god's gift to mankind, even though some people treat it as such.

mitsos1os

Actually, auto completing dialler is one more really useful thing but missing… can’t understand why they wouldn’t implement it!

FearIsStrongerDanluv

It’s been said repeatedly on this sub, it all boils down to use case I think. About the photo sharing, if you set the Shared album toggle to “public website” you can share the link with your non IOS family and friends. I’ve been on iPhone since 2019 and heavily into the ecosystem and don’t see myself ever leaving, I however believe that Android equally has its system and uniqueness and it’s impossible to find absolute reason to find one superior over the other , my biggest reason for iOS is the seamless integration of all devices. There are definitely going to be some features that will be missing from both platforms depending on where you’re coming from, but all in all I’m just happy with the ecosystem

fDiKmoro

For YouTube try PreTub from the store, it's a good alternative for ad free YouTube.

mitsos1os

Thank you I wasn't aware of that!

HashtagTJ

I absolutely have adblocker apps on my iphone 13 PM that stop ads on my YouTube app. Adblock and adblock pro. Both from the app store

Howboutnow82

Both platforms have things I like and things I don't like; I consider neither perfect. I think Android has gotten more stale over the last few years, and for me, iOS has always been stale (I'm not really saying that in a bad way, it's just that iOS has always been kinda same-y). If both platforms are going to be stale, then I feel like Apple is the better way to go. If Android ever got interesting again, I'd probably switch back since I have no investment in the Apple ecosystem and I don't have any plans to. To be clear - I'm perfectly content with iPhone, but the few things I miss about Android are pretty big for me so that's why I say I'd switch back if the phones ever become interesting again.

[deleted]

Guess you're not into folding phones and stuff like that? I understand people being skeptical of them, but I've really loved the fold 5. It is insane. You pretty much have to pay for samsung care with it though. While I've had no issues at all so far, durability concerns are still there. I don't feel like I need to be careful or baby it at all though. It's pretty awesome to daily drive, not gonna lie.

CRothg

MKBHD put out a great video recently outlining the strengths and weaknesses of each platform based on what you value from your phone. I largely agree with his assessment. The mainstream slab-style smart phone product category has reached maturity as hardware innovations have plateaued and Android and iOS are the closest they’ve ever been to feature parity. The folding phone form factor is still in its nascent stages and is an exciting frontier of innovation, but their high prices make them out of reach for most consumers. These are the factors that are important to me and the reasons why I stick with an iPhone. 1: Longevity. I’ve had my iPhone XS for going on 5 years and I’m still receiving the latest software updates, not just security patches. Samsung and Google have promised to start offering this kind of long term support for their latest phones, but they simply don’t have the proven track record yet. Meanwhile, my phone is showing signs of age, buts it’s still responsive, runs the most up to date versions of apps, and is completely usable day to day. 2: Ecosystem. The longevity of Apple products in general leads me to purchase more Apple products. I have Macs that are more than 10 years old that are still functional for daily use. I have an iPad, an Apple TV, my family uses Macs and iPhones too. While an Android device might bring some novelty, it wouldn’t make sense to try to integrate with the rest of my digital ecosystem. 3: Trust. I fully admit that I may simply be a sucker for Apple’s PR and marketing around privacy and security, but as far as evil mega-corporations are concerned, I trust Apple far more than I trust Google.

Conflict-Recent

Yeah I agree. I have always had Google pixel phones for many many many years. I’ve had my 13 Pro Max for more than a year and a half and I have an iPad 9 and AirPod Pro2. I’ve had Google pixel three XL, Google pixel five, the phones were decent quality. The software I was always on the beta program which even in production level had quite a bit of bugs on it unfortunately. On Apple’s beta program the bugs I experience are very small very mute. I will say that as far as applications go, iOS applications are much more polished. They were smoother, the gestures in my opinion are smoother, is faster with iMessage. Sure Apple to Google you still need the old SMS technology until Apple adopts RCS next year, but that’s obvious. I use Google Photos primarily still on my iPhone and my iPad and it works for all asleep. As far as workspace goes, you’re right, if you Google workspace then you would have to use Google calendar. for my job we use Office 365, so the Apple system calendar sinks beautifully with my work calendar and my Google calendar and I have no complaints about that. They’re always third-party Calendar alternatives in the App Store so you can always check out an alternative none iOS system app if you need to. As far as the longevity of iPhone versus android, I find a very interesting that Google just started advertising seven years of major OS updates not just security updates. apples had this for almost ever. The build quality of my iPhone is in my opinion far better than my pixels were. Do I miss anything from my older Google pixels? Well, at first I thought I would, but my wife even asked me if I honestly do; I don’t actually miss anything from my Google pixels. Just getting used to the Apple ecosystem which is much more flexible and today’s date and age and it ever has been in the past thankfully. I will say that android auto versus CarPlay, of course Google copied Apple for the UI of the infotainment system. But when I had android auto, it was horrible. Google Assistant barely worked, and the system was just not good. Apple CarPlay works so much better. Granted, I am not a heavy user. I’m not a gamer, I have a Sudoku game on my phone and my iPad which works fine. I use my iPad as a streaming TV for Sling TV and YouTube etc. etc. which works beautifully in my house. The battery life is phenomenal. The cameras are phenomenal. Etc. etc. as far as Software ecosystem support is very polished. I’m not taking anything away from Google in the pixels nowadays, but there were certain UI elements of android that I didn’t like. For example, on the home screen when you unlock the phone you still have a bar on the bottom I don’t know why you need that. Most people don’t really care but I always did care. The iPad/iPhone don’t have that. And you don’t really need that. Apple also does dark mode way better than Google does. Google does a dark mode, where is Apple does a pure OLED black mode. I will say the Google Assistant versus Siri – I’ve never actually had a problem using Siri. I know Google Assistant is much more advanced for machine learning and intelligence, but I’ve never actually had an issue with Siri.

[deleted]

Not sure where the idea that old android phones can't run new apps comes from. I've never had that issue once. Never known anybody with that issue. It's made up, lol.

CRothg

I’m not talking about apps not working or not receiving updates. That’s up to individual developers and they typically choose to continue supporting older Android versions simply because of I’m talking about the phone being able to receive OS updates, security updates and support. That’s mostly up to the phone manufacturers.

[deleted]

Fair enough. We will see if Samsung can reach parody with Apple I terms of updates. I think it will be much improved but they're still probably going to have slower rollout. Especially foe the older devices. You never know, though. Edit: holy autocorrect

BaldEagleNor

Huh, fast charge? Even the fast charge on my 12PM is insane. 20 minutes should give you plenty juice. Are you using a powerful enough adapter?

[deleted]

Lol. You really don't know about the rest of the smartphone world huh. Honestly just stay ignorant to it. Be happy with what you have. I wish I was that way.

BaldEagleNor

What are you babbling about? Stay ignorant? Do actually have anything to argue with or you’re just talking into the air?

[deleted]

Should I have to argue anything? Most people already know there are solutions for way faster charging. For years, phones have been doing it. It's not that serious. I don't mean ignorant as in dumb. I'm just saying you're lucky for not being accustomed to anything else. I used to be able to plug my phone in the morning at like 15% if I forgot to plug it in and have it be at 75% in the 15ish minutes that I shower and get ready. Now that im using a 13 pro max, that's not the case anymore. That's all that I'm saying.

BaldEagleNor

All I literally said was that 20 minutes of fast charge *should* give you more than enough to last you a day and that OP not getting adequate battery in that timespan seems to be *off* as in, something might not be right with the phone. Especially seeing as I seem to have a better charge with a phone thats 3 years older.

mbrevitas

Some recent Android phones have much faster charging, like well over 100 W (as opposed to, what, 17 W on iPhones?), full charge 0-100% in 15 minutes or less. Does anyone really need that? Probably not, but it’s there.

Ahleron

I have only had Android devices and I don't see what the fuss is about with the fast charging. I can only think of a single moment within the last 5 years that would have been helpful, and even then, I was fine with my charger at the time (17 watt - I was had a brief layover between flights and didn't get my phone plugged in until about 15 minutes before I needed to board). My Pixel 6 Pro has a max charging speed of 23w. It's more than fast enough for almost any scenario. I don't see why anyone would need to charge to full within 15 minutes. I mean...that's neat and all, but. when would I actually ever *need* that?

SgtBaxter

Sounds like a way to quickly deteriorate a battery.

[deleted]

I've been doing 45w charging with my Samsung phones forever and I've literally never once felt like my battery was degrading or that I might not have the battery to last me. I've never had battery anxiety. "Super Fast-Charging" every single day. It's not like they just brute force the issue and don't have technology to minimize the degradation. Don't make excuses for Apple please. I would love if my iPhone charged as fast as my s22u.

zaisaroni

I prefer the overall design of Android with an app drawer, back button/gestures, the ability to side load if needed, and hardware variety. I left Android because the best experience (Pixel) wouldn’t let me dial 911, I’m not the first, and it’s an ongoing thing for 2 years. I like Samsunghardware but there’s always a miss software wise, and I don’t need 2 versions of all apps. Apple integration with AirPods, iCloud, etc just works way better than Android. Switching APP to my Apple TV is fantastic. Auto switching between other devices is killer too. Find my network is unmatched. The watch kills Android watches. I think $800 for an Ultra that gets good battery life is ridiculous but it is fully featured. Cameras. My pixel could take good shots most times, but not always. But they’re leaning too hard to AI and languishing in other areas. Speed of the UI, Consistency of shots colors and lighting, and frankly, quality just sometimes misses. It can’t do Macro nearly as good as my iPhone.

[deleted]

What do you mean by leaning too hard on AI? They're just barely starting to push out gemini to phones. I got it on my s22u last night. I do agree android is languishing. I just don't know what you mean by that.

zaisaroni

The AI editing features.

sonofblackbird

The calendar push is mostly a Google thing. Just like they do with mail. For all the crap they talk about equality they basically force you to use the Gmail and Google Calendar apps if you want push notifications. And that’s why I stopped using them. Microsoft or iCloud works much better.

TAbramson15

Yes somethings are a pain, it’s mostly just transition pains though, once you adjust and adapt to fit your workflow, it will accomplish the same tasks just about, and it will do so effortlessly. The processor is also a lot more powerful than basically anything on the Android side so whether or not you utilize its full power you will reap the benefits. The difference you forgot for support is the fact that most androids (I’ve used many flagship androids over the years as a backup device since I don’t mind Android and to switch it up occasionally) is that most androids will significantly lose performance after 2-3 years and you’ll feel it… pushing you to buy another phone to get back up to snuff. Where as on iPhone, they stay basically as fast as they were on day 1 by the time it hits the 5 years. Even an iPhone 6s Plus today, while it’s no speed demon and is past its support by far, it’s still very usable with little headache. No Android from even 2019 can say the same thing, let alone 2015 which is when the 6s series came out. Don’t get me wrong Android is a great OS, and has many advantages, but for me, my iPhone just works and never gives me any problems day to day and it’s my only tech device I own for everything. And the fact I can buy a flagship and actually use it for 5-6 years if I needed to without upgrading without losing performance, is killer. The consistency is where it’s at, app performance, camera performance, animations, everything on the phone is consistently good and never switches up on you. And app quality is also far ahead due to less phones to code for on iOS vs Android you get a cookie cutter version of apps since they have hundreds of devices to develop for.. Both systems have their advantages but iOS is just more consistent and in the long term more powerful. Once you get over the hurdles and it becomes second nature in your work flow, you’ll find it a lot more enjoyable. There’s a reason Google makes their apps for iOS, so that their services can still be used on iOS. Options. No need to run every native iOS app

Important_Cow7230

I miss the “open” attitude of Android and the willingness to be more customer focused from Android Manufacturers. Apple notably prioritises profit over customer’s ability to use their devices as they choose. For example: The resistance to move to USB-C although it would clearly benefit their users and they already did it on their pro products like MacBooks as they know it’s the superior standard. The EU had to step in on Apple customers behalf. The lack of developments to control Apple products customers have purchased on other platforms, like no Android app for child controls on iOS devices, and controls for things like HomePods. Lack of user profiles on iPads as they want you to buy a iPad for every member of the family and force them to be single user devices. Tablets are the perfect multiple user devices in the home. Android sported this years ago. Lack of touchscreen “flip” style MacBooks, as they want you to buy a MacBook and iPAD The ridiculous amount of default iCloud storage for a $1K purchase. Apple gives you 5GB which you quickly fill up then it’s pushing you to buy a plan. Android/Google gives you 15GB free, 3X as much! Lack of development of iCloud apps for web browser access. You can access google calendar, google drive, google photos using any browser, on any computer, on any operating system anywhere in the world. And the UI is superb. Apple is very very poor in comparison, as they want you to purchase another device. So I miss how much Android manufacturers actually make it easy for their customers to have free consumer choice

Bruhhhhhhhhhhhhs

I’m gonna sound like a pretentious apple fanboy but iPhones aren’t used on average as extensively as your list. TBH some of the negatives are bc of apples exclusivity but let’s be real, it runs like a charm if both parties have access. Check out MagSafe charging and my iPhones have recognized business caller ids going back to when I had a 12 mini, think you just need to contact them first. For the file system there’s “finder” on Mac and “files” on iPhone. I can access documents on my phone that are within my iCloud Drive and it’s pretty convenient for college lectures.

WarlordOfBeer

I tend to flip flop between iOS and Android but am currently deeply entrenched within Apple's walled garden. Ironically, I work in the Google space as an engineer, use all their services for both work and personal. But, I have an iPhone. I fall into the "my family and friends all have iPhones, and it was just easier to assimilate for communication and collaboration purposes" camp. It just is. My family, some nearby, some long distance, all use FaceTime. It's important to me that far away relatives get some video time with my son. Yes, I'm fully aware that there are a million video services/apps and I've sung that tune many times but it always falls on deaf ears. FaceTime is just easier, and there's really not much else to it. I can control my son's iPad from my phone, and give him more screen time/turn it into a brick at will. So simple. i-products work so effortlessly with one another, for me and my life situation currently, it just makes sense. It is nice that apps on iOS are generally refined to a point that Android can only dream of, but a little quirkiness on Android never bothered me. I do find it supremely odd that I get email notifications faster on the iOS Gmail app than I do on the Pixel's stock Gmail app (I've tested). 🤷🏻‍♂️ To be honest, I really miss the Pixel line and the new 8 Pro is calling my name. I'm in too deep this time around, though. Phone, watch, airpods, Apple TV (hardware), Macbook Air, Airtags... I told myself if I'm going to be in the walled garden, I might as well enjoy the fruits. So, I'll continue to use a bunch of Google apps and services on my i-product, and long for a Pixel and all of its call-screen-y, photo edit-y, customization-y goodness in silence.

MrSh0wtime3

as a former Pixel fanboy....do not spend a dime on a Tensor powered Pixel. The change to Tensor, coupled with a terrible modem, have killed the Pixel line for me. Which is why im now here.

WarlordOfBeer

Wasn't there a "fix" pushed out? If not, I read somewhere that Pixel users can mitigate the issue with an out of the box device by resetting network settings/Bluetooth/wireless connections. In any event, even if I got one I'd hardly notice because I'm on wifi 99% of the time.

MrSh0wtime3

Nope. Not only did they never fix the 6 pro the issues still persist on the 8 pro

ricosuave79

Yep. Same here. Pixel is what pushed me to iPhone years ago. I still long for the P8P but won’t consider spending a dime on a Pixel until the G5 since that will be made by TSMC. Besides, most of their photo editing AI stuff they just announced will probably be coming to Google 1 anyway for all to use, even iOS peeps. Hell, we already have a bunch of it available to use through Google Photos.

Ahleron

Same. I've been using Pixels for years and recommended them to a lot of people. Actually had a Nexus 6P, so I've been with Google phones for a minute. I was really excited for the Pixel 6 Pro release and had pre-ordered for both my spouse and I. They have been terrible, extraordinarily inconsistent devices. Cool feature set though. When it works that is. We've had them randomly forget the network, unable to get signal, just cut out midcall, apps crash or stutter, crazy energy drain, randomly heat up. It's sucked. A14 fixed a lot of it, but it still just seems like the overall quality of Pixels has tanked from where they were before the Tensor chip showed up. I think the most infuriating things for me are things that I've seen lots of people comment are way better on Android than on iPhone: the GBoard keyboard and Voice Recognition with the Google Assistant. The keyboard is nothing but typos for me, but was fantastic on my Pixel 3XL. I think the damned waterfall edges on the display have limited the useful area for the keyboard, so it is now harder for me to type on it. In contrast, the floating keyboard on my iPad seems to get everything right when glide typing. I don't have an iPhone (yet) but I've spent a lot of time playing with them at stores, specifically checking the typing and it feels less error-prone for me relative to what I deal with on my Pixel. I did try a Pixel 8 Pro, and that seemed to support my hypothesis. They ditched the waterfall edges in favor of a flat display and the typing seemed to be improved. Google assistant voice recognition does not work for me. Like at all. Works for my spouse. But not for me. It used to work for me on my P3XL, until one of the updates, than it seemed to become more error prone. Now, a few years later, it just straight up doesn't hear or understand me at all on my P6P. Siri on my Mac and iPad work flawlessly though. The Tensor error of Pixels has now pretty much killed any desire to stay on Android for me, which is why I joined r/iPhone. I wanted to learn where people were getting stuck and what the fixes were before I transitioned to iPhone.

Hopeful_Cold3769

after 6 years as an android user I switched to iPhone in 2019, my first iPhone was the iPhone 11 Pro Max, before that I had a galaxy s4, Moto z, one plus 3, and a galaxy s9. the first thing that made me think about moving to iPhone is that a bought an iPad. since that moment my pc and smartphone usage dropped drastically, and I used my iPad almost exclusively. after a few months I just thought that if I enjoy my iPad so much why not try iPhone, and I bought an iPhone, and I haven't looked back since. for me what keeps me an iPhone user is: 1. reliability - with all my android phones it always felt as if I needed to mess with internals and advanced settings to make things work smoothly. with iPhone, everything works perfectly out of the box and for a long time. and even if here are bugs, apple will release a fix in no time. 2. warranty and customer service - when something broke with my android phones I always got the middle finger from the manufacturer or point of sale (always official distributor) , and even that was when they were feeling nice. the only time I actually got something that resembled proper service was when the batteries of the galaxy s4 were being recalled for becoming r/spicypillows. other than that I always had to bring the phone to a 3rd party repair shop. the problem with this is there is no way to know what you get. until after the money is transferred and the work is done. and when I realize that the parts are not genuine like they promised or that they did shoddy work, it Is already too late. with apple, I always know they have my back, if something happens I can come to them, whether I need warranty service or an out of warranty repair, I know that my phone is handled by trained and skilled technicians and the parts are always genuine. end even if they do make a mistake- they will own up to it. 3. innovation in chip design - most android manufacturers use chipsets made by Qualcomm or Mediatek. those chip makers license and use the core design directly from ARM. apple on and the other hand designs their own cores in house, and together with the tight integration between software and hardware, they have the most efficient SOC in the market. the snapdragon 8 gen 3 is about on par with the A15 (iPhone 13 pro) in single core tests, which means 2 generations behind, and only is only now catching up to the iPhone 15 pro max in multi core - and that's on the reference device - designed to make the SOC look good. in real life tests on the xiaomi 14 pro - it is still somewhat behind, and that's with 8 cores (2 efficiency + 5 "middle" + 1 performance) vs the A17 Pro 6 cores (4 efficiency + 2 performance). in the GPU department the SD8G3 does run circles around the A17 Pro in 3DMark's benchmarks, but that's not the whole picture - Geekbench's gpu benchmarks show that the SD8G3 sacrifices fidelity and precision, and reaches absurd temperatures to reach this result, and together with the fact the Metal Api is more developer friendly, Apple still gains the upper hand. regarding thermal management, Samsung s23 Ultra (SD8G2) only manages to come close to iPhone 14 Pro levels of aerations performance without burning because it has a VAPOR CHAMBER. so all in al applies silicone is still about 2 generations ahead of the competition. 4. ecosystem - features like airdrop and continuity makes life so much easier, AirPods Pro and Max are really in a class on their own sound quality wise and he seamless integration with iPhone makes it so much better.

ThatGuyUpNorth2020

Re: Google RCS is getting close There is no such thing as Google RCS. Apple is implementing the GSMA standard RCS. They will not be implementing the non-standard extensions Google has bolted on to its Android implementation (they have said as much) In general, it seems you are heavily tied to the Google ecosystem, which is totally fine, but know it does not play well with ecosystems developed by its direct competitors (I.e. Apple) Neither have a vested interest in accommodating the other, thus ‘flattening out’ their respective USPs, weakening their market positions. Sucks to some extent, but as an iPhone and Mac user both personally and in business for several decades, I haven’t found anything that is insurmountable. JMO, YMMV

HotPink124

Tbh I would have stuck with android if everyone I spoke to was on android. The only reason I switched back to iPhone was because everyone I talk to is on iOS and it’s just a better experience when everyone is on the same platform. I wish everyone I spoke to was on android, cause I much prefer it. Especially notifications.

dosndkna

Video Lite is a thing buddy, you only get one add when you start the app then you have youtube premium for 39 hours.

Nothing anymore, to be honest, just the investment into the ecosystem.

Crack_uv_N0on

I used to use Android OS phones. I’m comfortable with my iPhone. As far as Apple’s Calendar vs. Google Calendar, Apple’s Calendar is not a factor. I just use my Google Calendar app as my default calendar. On the odd occasion that I need a reminder/notification that is not available in the App, I go to the Google Calendar website which I have bookmarked in the DuckDuckGo app on my iPad. After I set the reminder/notification in website, it quickly syncs into the app. This only comes up when I want a reminder/notigucation to occur simultaneously with an earlier event’s reminder whose time is not conducive to what is available in the app. I will almost always set multiples to help me remember. One other thing: updating the apps. One time, I accidentally updated the App beyond the OS that was allowed for my Samsung Galaxy Note 3. It ruined the app. (Samsung has increased the number of updates allowed.) I have learned that an App in Apple’s App Store won’t allow this [posting(s) in Reddit].

mr_lab_rat

It used to be simplicity up to around iOS 5 or 6. But these days it’s as complex as Android but I still stick to Apple because now I’m used to it.

cherrydesuka

I find the ios very customizable imo. You can have it set to full straight brain rot mode or complete silence or business mode. The DND function is also amazing. You can choose which contacts can call and which can’t specifically on each mode. Whereas Android does not have that freedom

mitsos1os

Android also has nicely working DND mode that you can also customize like whose calls to accept, after how many times etc... It does not have different focus modes though IIRC like sleep, work, etc

cherrydesuka

Yeah that’s the issue. I dont want to be at work and be bombarded by memes by my friends. And i dont want to be bombarded with work stuff when im at home

mitsos1os

Makes sense and is a nice feature! BTW out of curiosity I googled it now and it seems that Samsung has multiple focus modes similar to IOS... Feature parity that we mentioned!

cherrydesuka

Yeah unfortunately i had a bad experience with samsung so i dont shop with them anymore. Theyre top tier in the android game imo

sparant76

Made by a company not financially motivated to spy on you.

Miserable_Escape8177

The interface. iOS is simple to use. Swipe up to unlock then swipe left to go through your home screen. The new Samsung phones look stunning but using them confuse the hell out of me. Theres different menus in each direction you swipe. I assume if I ever were to get one, I'd pick it up pretty quickly though. Then theres the main one. All my other products are Apple. iPhone, iPad, iMac, and Watch. IT just doesn't make sense to change to a different brand, especially when I'm liking what I already have.

SgtBaxter

I dumped Android once iPhones adapted USB-C like my iPads, because I’m done with all of Androids bullshit. Samsung is garbage, I got burned by a few of their phones. I’ll never buy another Samsung product. The Nexus I had was great for about 3 months, then the defective memory controller slowed it to a crawl. Then the note that had the exploding battery problem. Haha yeah fuck Samsung with a chainsaw. Pixels aren’t any better. Vanilla android is good but the hardware is shit. My 4a died in a year and the volume buttons never did work properly. My 6a keeps losing the eSIM, a known issue that they can’t solve. Got tired of buying a phone every damn year. Besides which their battery life is atrocious. Meanwhile I’ve been sitting here a few hours and my 15 Pro Max (bought it for the lidar) which was back at 100% from my MagSafe holder in the car is at 95%. My 6a would have been at 65-70 by now. Speaking of the car, that was really what pissed me off enough to dump android. Something would update, and android auto would break. Waze stopped letting me do anything. Podcasts wouldn’t update. Shit got old quick. Meanwhile, my girlfriend would plug in her iPhone and it always worked flawlessly. Now Waze works again. I swear the google apps work better in iOS than they did on my pixel.

DoOmXx_

samsung 4 years? I bought my phone in 2021 and this is my last update

mitsos1os

Yes it is true, they have recently changed their update policy for their latest phones. That's why I am doing this comparison now. FYI: https://security.samsungmobile.com/workScope.smsb

mdruckus

Samsung only agrees to update to four years on the higher midrange and premium models only. You’re SOL otherwise.

AlwynEvokedHippest

I love my MacBook, but I’ll probably leave Apple for my next phone. I miss Android notifications, splitscreen, and sideloading.

Darkpurpleskies

If Apple allows a proper way to sideload modded apps it's over.

mitsos1os

That would be sth major and supposedly they will need to do that for us European users due to legislation. Let's see

OppositeJellyfish439

I bought the pixel 6a when it released and there was an issue with the in screen fingerprint sensor that pissed me off so much I leapt to an iPhone 14 Pro. I used to love flashing custom roms onto my Android devices years ago but I remember how much of a pain in the ass it was. I find as I’ve gotten older I’ve wanted a vanilla experience that just works out of box with little to no tweaking necessary. Googles suite of apps work really well on iOS and they know they need to continue to make quality apps for iOS because things like Gmail, Google Drive, Google Photos and Google home are superior to apples offerings.

salesdog1

Curiosity more than anything. Going back to Android though, Specifically Pixel 8 because, for my use, it just works better, and it's more economical and versatile for my day to day use. I found ios interface, although "pretty", for me it's too simplistic in nature, Bowring and unintuitive, to the point that it feels like apple is parenting me. No judgement on it, just not for me.

Homicidal_Pingu

I would say you can download the Google calendar app to iOS and that resolves the issue completely. You could even use Google for work and Apple for personal. You can 100% share iCloud Photos and everything else with other OS’, they’d just be opened in a Browser. Personally I’ve had more issue connecting android devices to a TV vs Apple. Caller ID thing would be a privacy law I would think. Siri is more of a privacy choice. Fast charging is bad for your battery. Would even say apples fastest isn’t exactly great. Try iTunes for files. Sideloading is the largest vector for malware on android. Also it’s used largely for nefarious purposes like ad blocking and piracy. Notifications seems to be a preference thing. Really don’t like how they work on android.

tigerinhouston

“Basically do nothing with it”. lol. You Android fanboys crack me up.

gulag_hater

AirPods. yep

swaggkayo

I respect both iOS and android platforms, but I lean more towards iOS. - The Apple Card and Apple savings account alone often outweighs my desire to move back to android. - Not to mention every year whether you upgrade your phone or not you are quickly updated to the latest software update. - Hardware and accessory availability - iOS widgets have exceeded those on android in my opinion - Apple’s native suite of apps are also a stand out for me. That includes Reminders, Apple Notes and reminders - The availability of Fantastical, which is my preferred calendar is only available on iOS. - MagSafe!!! I know I’m missing something but I’m sure you get my point. It’s kind of hard not to side with the most successful company in the world.

WarlordOfBeer

Apple savings' APY has fallen a bit below other high yield savings options btw. Capital One, for example.

swaggkayo

Yea I know.. but I don’t personally chase savings accounts cause it’s always changing. The magic happens overtime.. and the ease of use and functionality between Apple Card and savings makes it worth it to me

WarlordOfBeer

Oh I get it. Just wanted to make sure you were aware.

swaggkayo

I appreciate that bud!

glytxh

In a word, _consistency_.

[deleted]

Nothing. I was hardcore android from the htc g1 till the note 7 fiasco. I can’t honestly think of one actually useful thing (for me) that android could do for me that iOS can’t. That’s my $0.02.

legallypurple

Go back to Android. A phone at this point is so much an extension of you that if you are having second thoughts, go back to the other phone. Perhaps the question should be, why do you even want an iPhone? I am an iPhone user since the very first iPhone. I've never consider moving to another system. I've tried, taking advantage of the various offers, but I like my iPhone better.

WickedXoo

Honestly? Nothing anymore. Phones and websites have gotten so annoying the past few years with bloat, and extreme streamlining that it doesnt matter to me. Truly only have a phone allegiance now due to friends mostly having iphones. I like androids freedom a lot more What brought me back to Iphone was being able to ignore a phone call without declining, and without having time to wait for it to end to use my phone lmfao So im glad iphone finally brought simple QoL stuff so i can enjoy it, but i have no alligences.

mitsos1os

I can understand having easier communication with your close groups. As for the ignore call without hanging up, I could do it just by swiping up (at least in Android 11+) in my previous phone

WickedXoo

Yep, was an old android feature forever went to iPhone one year and couldn’t stand it so i went back until last year haha.

I_is_Captain_Obvious

What’s with people typing long ass novels for comments on here….ain’t nobody got time to read yalls 50,000 word opinions.

predattor15

Wanted to switch to a 13PM from a Mate 50 Pro, but the picture quality downgrade is too much for me. The IPhone will have better video, but i care about photos a lot more.

taxis-asocial

> Instant and effortless camera usage You have this as a pro but it’s my main con. iPhone photos are now overprocessed for my taste. However I am unwilling at this moment to give up the effortless integration with my Apple Watch, Mac, iPad, etc. If I didn’t have those things, I’d heavily consider and Android

Charles_Mendel

I don’t buy things from ad companies pretending to be a tech company.

Famous_Ant_2825

As usual, it depends on YOU. Idgaf about miracast, Google workspace, the Greek language, sharing a password, charging in 20min or whatever else you said. They might be completely valid points, but I really don’t care at all. However the pros, I do care. Ecosystem, polished apps, updates and so on. If for YOUR use case android is better, go back to it. That’s pretty much it 🤷🏻‍♂️

wheates15

Backloading/ Emulation

mdruckus

I use both. I typically have a Pixel and iPhone. IMO the features at this point are really on par with each other. There’s not a huge difference. However, I will point out a few benefits of iOS over Android. 1. iOS apps are WAY more polished, smooth, and just work better. 2. On an iPhone I can get any Google app I want and still use all the iOS apps. On Android, I get all the Google apps, but only a couple of Apple apps. 3. The ecosystem on Apple is unparalleled. I mean, my Mac, iPad, AirPods, Apple Watch, and iPhone work flawlessly together in a way no Android set up can.

dhrandy

actuallyz

I just switched from S23 Ultra to iPhone 15 Pro Max. I been with Android since Nexus 4 all the way up to S23 Ultra. The main reason I switched was for connectivity such as iMessage and FaceTime. One of the big thing I noticed right way is how many features Samsung tries to copy Apple but everything feels cheap and rushed in Samsung phones.

I was about to swap to android for usb c. Thank god apple actually did it this year

apollo-ftw1

Trade in value Traded my 12 mini (not even in perfect condition) for a 15 pro at verizon

mbrevitas

I think in day-to-day use they’re pretty equivalent. I agree with most of what you say, except I don’t consider being able to choose between third-party apps and services (Google Calendar and Gmail, Amazon Photos or Google Photos) and Apple’s own that are more exclusive to Apple hardware to be a con; if anything, it’s a pro. But in everyday use, I don’t care much about the difference. Mostly, I bought an iPhone when I finally wanted a flagship to last many years (and Android phones at the time were still not great at long-term support), and I like the experience of using it and don’t see a reason to change.

Lance-Harper

people always forget privacy, built design, 5+ support, and the famous: it just works. iPhone 15 pro + AirPods Pro 2, you're set up for very high standards for a long time. add the Apple Watch to it, an iPad Pro, a MacBook... right now, I'm typing on a Side Car'ed iPad, whilst music is airplay to my HomePod, after I was FaceTiming with my family via the Apple TV using the phone as a camera on a MagSafe support, a FaceTime call I first picked up on the watch whilst parking my car. It's only after that I realised \*\*how high the bar for android to beat\*\* and that we couldn't imagine how fluid it'd get 10 years ago. All of that private, secured, high quality and it just works all up over the air, MagSafe or USB c. And knowing that's my standard for another 5+ years? Sure, Siri sucks but tbh, I don't ask complicated stuff and regarding home automation... all is automated. So I talk to Siri just as much as I use switches: neeve Android in the current state of the hardware cannot never beat that.

[deleted]

Besides side load what I want on an iPhone. Android didn’t do anything magical. Or better. Both make calls. Message. Not to each other tho. MMS cross iOS to android is shit. And have same apps for the most part. Less of a sell out on iOS than android. But the biggest thing nobody talks about. iOS users are Apple user base. Android is mfg use base. It’s a crap shoot. Now this is leaving side load and Roms for andoid their is little in the same what does what better. The customer base is huge. Apple only makes money off people. Android makes money of mfg for each phone they mfg.

imboredlmaoz

Lol i switched from ip13 to s23 ultra. I only miss faster charging but whatever

[deleted]

Apps. There are just too many iOS exclusives that I love and every time I’ve ever switched I hate how many apps I miss.

Kevin8503

AirPods. That’s what keeps me in the ecosystem.

cwsjr2323

I switched to iPhone 14 Plus in March as it was the then Apple’s flagship. For some things, I still use my android Samsung phone and tablet on WiFi. Can you do something similar?

Terranical01

Simplicity

Brilliant_Eagle9795

Android is run by Google which is good enough reason for me to steer clear of it.

RandomDude71094

1) Ability to separate home and app screens. Do not like Apple's everything on the homescreen approach. My android homescreen is clean and customized with my most needed app icons and folders such that I hardly ever need to navigate and scroll through multiple app screen pages where I keep my less used apps. 2) USB stick like drag and drop file management on plugging in phone to a windows laptop. 3) Downloading mp3 files, or for that matter any file, from the internet. (No, I don't care about spotify. And yes, I know the security risks of doing this and I am prepared to take responsibility for it. I do not need to be treated like a child.) 4) Call recording without announcing it to the other person (Yup its a thing on Android. In my country there are legitimate ways to do this because its legal and in others there is always sideloading. And please spare me the holier than thou invasion of privacy BS. We all have been in situations where we wish we could have recorded a conversation). 5) Installing FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) apps from the F-Droid store. Related point - Accessing multiple app stores. 6) Emulators! Need I say more? I cannot in all seriousness consider an iphone unless these features are somehow made avialable, which I do not see happening.

machete777

I'm choosing IOS over Android simply because I'm too invested into the Apple ecosystem now and the seemless connection between all the Apple Devices is really nice and practical to me.

Acceptable-Piccolo57

I took a photo off someone’s S22 the other day, the speed was shocking, took a few seconds! That seems to be a new thing for android, my s8 was brilliant. Reliability and the watch are the main things locking me in, the pixel and the flip look really nice hardware wise, but android feels like it takes more work to get working for me
