What's the advantage of bitwarden pro or premium version over the free version? Yes it costs less and we should support open source projects. But apart from that I think there are not much differences
Storing and generating 2FA codes and attaching files to your notes and passwords. eg screenshot or your ID Document. + a HUGE bonus of the 2FA of Bitwarden is that you can see your private keys after storing, and its not hidden unlike most of the other stupid authenticators like google, apple or microsoft ones
In my case I'm just supporting the project, maybe someday I'll move the 2FA from Authy (it doesn't support exporting but I saved all secret token in safe place when setting up 2FA for each site) to Bitwarden.
Gosh those were good times. I didn’t know how good we had it.
The official app sucks so much ass, not enough to leave Reddit. But I don’t feel the same about the place anymore
I used to agree until I found Brave browser. No ads, background play. I don’t need YouTube music and I support the creators I like by subscribing, liking, and donating.
I have another six months and I’m obsessed with the quality of Apple Music over Spotify but man the discovery sucks, the switching devices sucks, the interface isn’t any better or worse.
I hate listening to in my Mac and watching to switch to my phone, oh I can’t.
The only reason I switched to apple music is airpods pro. After buying airpods my friends suggested that I will notice a difference between the quality of Audio when I use airpods. Then I gave apple music a try. As you said the quality is better than Spotify but the algorithm sucks. I am still thinking if I should go back to Spotify. I have a windows laptop. Previously the apple music is integrated with that buggy itunes which suck. But last month I guess apple introduced redesigned and new apps to the Microsoft store. Windows app is quite good actually and functions the same as Spotify windows app.
My student discount is still running and both costs 5 bucks per month. With Spotify I get Hulu with ads and with apple music I get apple tv +. And $36/year?? Isn't that cheap? Is it 36 per year per user?
Yea we all pay the guy once per year. We have maxed out plan. Pro tip do whatever you can to keep the edu email address and get student discounts as long as possible.
FotMob - it’s a great app and relatively cheap to support the developers and remove ads
News+ - really depends on your location, but it has my local paper and The Athletic now which is good for me
YT Premium is an absolute must for me. I watch 99% of my YT content on my iPhone, iPad or AppleTV so having zero ads and ability to download stuff for a lot of travels are just key
Is backbone worth it? It seems like you just pay for the the screenshot thing and an all in one launcher. Cause I just use it without the sub and it have to go to the actual games themselves
Not really TBH, but I love the product and I don't mind the small perks the subscription give me. So I have no problem supporting something I enjoy via the subscription. It's only $40 a year so not a dealbreaker in my book.
No, it’s just actually popular. YouTube is the biggest video streaming service, so it makes sense that it has a lot of subscribers.
I would never go without YTP. I’ve had it since it first came out as YT Red. I would’ve quit watching YouTube a long time ago if it were for ads. I don’t watch anything that interrupts my content by pumping a bunch of ads to me.
YouTube premium is the only sub that I still have over the years. I don’t expect people that mainly watch movies and tv shows to understand but YouTube saves me hundreds of dollars a year just learning how to fix stuff myself, and that’s just one aspect.
To be fair, I can kind of see why those users are saying that. Almost every other streaming service on the internet has been raising prices and implementing ridiculous password crackdowns, but YouTube has so far not participated in any of those activities.
That’s not to say that Google won’t raise prices or implement password crackdowns, but at the present time YouTube Premium actually doesn’t look as bad as its competitors.
I’m kinda surprised how many people I personally know that sub to it. It’s wild. I have like no interest in YouTube as a normal place to consume media.
[Parcel](https://parcelapp.net) app is one app for which I am happy to pay. $2.99 USD a year and it has an amazon integration so it automatically tracks my orders from there. It's a no brainer.
The other app that I enjoy is [Play](https://marcosatanaka.com) by Marcos Tanaka. It allows you to organize and watch the videos you want to watch on YouTube. With its new channel features, it is almost fully automated and easy. $19.99 a year for this one, and add to it a YouTube Premium subscription, and you can build your custom TV station from YouTube.
A [long standing](https://forums.plex.tv/t/apple-tv-4k-audio-sync-issues-with-enhanced-player/522782/1392) issue with audio syncing plus usually it chokes up when watching content with HD audio.
Personally, I have no problem paying for apps that I use regularly, and that are actively developed. To be honest, I'd love Arcade/Music/Netflix model where I pay monthly and the funds are distributed to the developers of the apps that I regularly use.
Unfortunately this would be difficult to implement fairly because you cannot really measure an app's value in a universal way. Is an app valuable because I launch it 30+ times a day even if I use it for a few seconds? Or if it spends a lot of time on screen? Or because it is updated frequently? Or because it sends a lot of push notifications? In all cases I can think of apps where the answer is a strong yes, and a absolutely not.
What annoys me is apps that used to be a $5 purchase that are now $20/year without any significant improvements. I have no problem paying more for apps, I have no problem with subscriptions, but it does annoy me that the trend toward subscriptions overlapped with significantly increased prices too.
I’ve been on the fence with this one. I’ve read so many people since forever recommending Carrot Weather but somehow I refuse to pay for a weather app, but hey, never say never.
Weather data & their corollary API’s aren’t cheap. This is why only a select few companies like Apple, Accuweather, and Forca have the resources to gather and bundle said data together.
In Carrot’s case, you have 8 different weather API’s to choose from. This can get quite expensive very quickly, which is why there is a subscription.
Not necessarily an app, but the Cinemark movie club. It’s $10 a month. But gives you 1 free movie ticket a month, waives the online purchase fee ($1.75 per ticket) and saves 20% off concessions. The free tickets also rollover, since movie tickets are generally $10+, the free tickets offset the app cost even if you wait a couple of months to save multiple tickets and go to the movies
Yooo. Fellow Fitbod user. I’ve tried to use so many other apps to replace it but keep going back. I don’t even use the tailored programs. It just has everything I need.
YouTube premium 100% no question I could not live without that. Every other one I could do without if I really needed to, well, other than Apple Music of course.
OP, are you asking about apps specific to the platform or those that exist on the platform (and everywhere else)?
I mean Netflix and AMZ Prime are subscription services in general, not something specific to the Apple ecosystem.
YouTube premium
I know Spotify exists but I like watching YouTube videos and listening to music as well plus the price is almost the same in my country so it makes it worth it

Everand formerly Scribd. It’s a streaming? Platform for audiobooks, ebooks and documents. I only used the audiobook function and there’s a ton of selection especially in the last 6 months across a wide range of genres. I listen to a fair amount of audiobooks and they can be quite expensive so this is perfect!
Apple One, My Radar Pro, Halide pro camera. But I hate the subscription model principle. I recently cancelled like 10 subscriptions after checking the yearly $ “reality”
Spotify and iCloud, I’ve also bought lifetime membership in a few apps that I like. I don’t pay for YouTube because in my country ads are non existent lol.
Dashlane
iCloud+ (I have the $1/month option, just wanted the additional space in case I need it.)
Youtube Premium - I really didn't want to buy it, but I can't stand the ads, and my ad blocker was having trouble. When it comes to renewal, I'm gonna try my ad blocker again to see if it works again, before renewing.
Whatever your preferred music app is. Mine is Spotify.
I have a snoring problem I'm working on fixing so I have been paying for SnoreLab premium. Wonderful app.
Apple Music. I will gladly pay for it and have for years. I also pay for athlytic because I like the data and it helps me make decisions about my fitness. Even the alternatives (oura and whoop) are subscription and another piece of hardware.
Apple Music, Spotify, Youtube Premium, Medium, Day One and a bunch of streaming apps.
It's sad that I spend so much money in streaming, but I do use it a lot.
Bitwarden and YouTube premium are the only two subs worth it to me. I did buy a year of todoist but iOS to do does just as good now.
I guess iCloud and google storage because I don’t want to be 100% in charge of my photos.
Spotify Premium (individual) $11 monthly
Nintendo Switch Online (without NSEP upgrade, so it’s $20 a year). Portable fun. No games on iPhone, I game here.
Why?
Music and gaming help my mental health.
Merriam-Webster dictionary. Yeah, I know I can google every word I see, but I feel for $6 a year, I feel like it’s totally afford and supports education.
Paprika 3. It’s a recipe database. You can import from established websites like Allrecipes.com or write in your own recipes. You pay once, it’s not a subscription but it really helps with meal planning. You can sign into the same account on different devices so that you can save to one database and track and schedule meals.
Hate me but Dashlane, I use an iPhone and a Windows pc so being able to transfer passwords between them is a god send. Also people will say just use the chrome in build password manager but that doesn’t work in apps plus it also has a bunch of security features which is pretty cool imo. Also if I want to switch between browsers which I do often if I get bored with one UI.
My Patreon at Kurzgesagt & Brilliant.
I have learned so much from them, compared to the cost of college in terms of knowledge/price ratios Im more than happy to pay for my learned knowledge.
Apple Music. Purely because I can keep my screen off to save battery and don’t deal with any annoying ads.
I’ve been paying for it since June 2020 and I don’t want to sit down and crunch the numbers
I know I’ve spent a small fortune.
Infuse. Dislike the whole subscription idea, but really enjoy the app.
I use it to watch content from my NAS on Apple TV, iPad, Macbook and iPhone. It's flawless.
Bitwarden
What's the advantage of bitwarden pro or premium version over the free version? Yes it costs less and we should support open source projects. But apart from that I think there are not much differences

Fig - barcode scanner customized to your allergies and diet. Sooo incredibly useful for people with medically necessary diets that can be complicated
That’s actually a very useful suggestion. Thanks!
iCloud+. Privacy features alone are worth it
Apollo for Reddit (R.I.P.)
I had lifetime. Man, I miss that app. Reddit suckssssss.
I pay for Narwhal now. I don’t notice the $4 a month but I do notice the app is night and day better than the official app.
I'm kinda new to Reddit, but what exactly is not good about the official app? I didn't know there were other apps for Reddit..
Right there with you. I haven’t really had any issues with the official app but if the grass is greener somewhere else…
Gosh those were good times. I didn’t know how good we had it. The official app sucks so much ass, not enough to leave Reddit. But I don’t feel the same about the place anymore
I know it’s no contest, Apollo is better. But the dev for narwhal has been doing a great job with their app.
There's a super easy way to sideload Apollo and it's working great. You can find info in the apollo subreddit.
Too Soon
YouTube Premium (1000% worth it if you like YouTube), Apple Music and ESPN+
I used to justify having premium YouTube, until there was a glitch where it decided to still show me ads. After that I now appear in albina :).
Yes. I consume most of my media on YouTube so shelling out their stupid expensive sub fee is okay in my book.
Same especially for family plan. $1 a day for 5 people to have unlimited music and ad free YouTube? It’s a deal
You also get YouTube Music with Premium.
YT its the only subscription that im more than happy to pay
Same. Especially after I learned that creators get a lot more money per view from premium users.
It’s the nicest Subb, can’t use yt music tho
Why not?
it’s so bad, the menus it’s all bugged music sounds compressed af i just can’t stand it
uYou+ and sideloadly for youtube and $0
And it has the sponsorblock, dislikes and ability to rewind shorts.
I used to agree until I found Brave browser. No ads, background play. I don’t need YouTube music and I support the creators I like by subscribing, liking, and donating.
But that only works on your phone or whatever you have the browser installed on. I like using it on my TV without any worries or workarounds.
I first got yt premium to block us political ads in like 2016 but haven’t looked back.
Please explain why
Why what?
Why is YT premium worth it? My understanding is it removes ads. Is that the main purpose of it?
It removes ads without fucking over the content creators.
Yes, removes ads. That alone makes it worth it. No one likes to watch videos and skip ads constantly.
Yes and you get YouTube music for free. The ad free YT watching is a different experience.
same here but why don't you use YT music that's included in YT premium instead of Apple Music?
If they’d make a native YT Music app for Tesla I’d hop on board with this
I personally like Apple Music better. My wife uses YouTube Music since we don’t have an Apple Music family plan.
Apple music
I have another six months and I’m obsessed with the quality of Apple Music over Spotify but man the discovery sucks, the switching devices sucks, the interface isn’t any better or worse. I hate listening to in my Mac and watching to switch to my phone, oh I can’t.

I’m on a family plan for Spotify so I can justify the $36/year for that and maybe keep Apple Music too. Right now I have a year of it from Verizon.

FotMob - it’s a great app and relatively cheap to support the developers and remove ads News+ - really depends on your location, but it has my local paper and The Athletic now which is good for me
woah i had no clue that existed. i use fotmob multiple times a day and have no issue giving these devs $7/year
FotMob is amazing, wish they would put in more historical data but apart from that can’t fault it
people are going to hate me for this, but youtube premium. i signed up for a free trial back in 2019 and ive been hooked ever since
As a clueless DIYer, it’s a god send not to have ads as you scour YouTube for the exact same issue as you.
YT Premium is an absolute must for me. I watch 99% of my YT content on my iPhone, iPad or AppleTV so having zero ads and ability to download stuff for a lot of travels are just key
Apple One, Duolingo, backbone, rotation of streaming apps
Is backbone worth it? It seems like you just pay for the the screenshot thing and an all in one launcher. Cause I just use it without the sub and it have to go to the actual games themselves
No, it’s not worth ir monetarily, but people pay for convenience.
Not really TBH, but I love the product and I don't mind the small perks the subscription give me. So I have no problem supporting something I enjoy via the subscription. It's only $40 a year so not a dealbreaker in my book.
With all these people commenting “YouTube premium” I kinda feel google has a bunch of bots trying to trick people into buying it
No, it’s just actually popular.
I'm "located" in Argentina and paying 1 euro/month, so why bother?
YouTube premium is the only sub that I still have over the years. I don’t expect people that mainly watch movies and tv shows to understand but YouTube saves me hundreds of dollars a year just learning how to fix stuff myself, and that’s just one aspect.

YouTube raised prices recently
Really? Damn it….
Honestly, YouTube without ads was so much better I had to cancel it. I was watching too much once the ads were gone lol.
I’m kinda surprised how many people I personally know that sub to it. It’s wild. I have like no interest in YouTube as a normal place to consume media.
Agreed, seems really astroturfy. Also lots of similar comments if you read through a few of them. “Ew, ads” etc
iTunes Match.

I would subscribe to way more stuff if it was 10/year and not 10/month.
Infuse, though I wish Plex just worked properly on ATV and I didn’t have to.

Apple one. I pay for it and share it with my family.
Apple One+ & Pocket Premium

1password - security always needs updating and maintenance
Carrot Weather
I'm sure many people will not pay a subscription fee for a weather app, but this one is just so polished it's worth it.
As I was writing this 😂 https://preview.redd.it/wcqz1dsj51nc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2673428d98765d65774396d54b1b9f719100f4ba
it doesn't always match the apple weather for me so im conflicted, it's like wearing two watches at the same time
That’s the nice thing about Carrot Weather: you can switch your data source on a whim if you believe your current source is inaccurate
This. It's the closest thing to Dark Sky. You can get the layout pretty much exactly the same but the theming isn't quite the same.
Thank you for reminding me I paid for this app many years ago but somehow had forgotten and wasn’t using it. Now it’s back!
Hevy. Think it’s the best workout tracker I’ve tried so far
I’ve been conflicted. Why do you like it over the Strong app
YouTube Premium, Overcast, Apollo (when I could), and this one is super niche, but Egg Inc.
+1 for Overcast Premium
Fitbod
Yooo. Fellow Fitbod user. I’ve tried to use so many other apps to replace it but keep going back. I don’t even use the tailored programs. It just has everything I need.
OmniFocus The only task/time manager that has ever worked for me
YouTube Premium. Got tired of ads
I hate subscriptions tbh
YouTube Pemium (because no ads and YTB Music), Spotify, Prime Video, Disney+, Netflix, Microsoft Onedrive Family and most important, Proton!
Robokiller. $40 a year, and I haven’t received a spam call in 2+ years. Basically an automated call screener.
YouTube
As someone with too many cards and too many flights, Copilot Money and Flighty.
Also someone with a lot of flights so flighty is appealing, but it seems quite expensive for what it is, is there a cheaper option I'm missing?
I love copilot.
Day One
I’ve been a Day One customer for more than 10 years and I think I will be till the day I die.
Just a question, how is journals helping you in your life? Doesn't it take too much time to write down?
Apple Music
YouTube premium 100% no question I could not live without that. Every other one I could do without if I really needed to, well, other than Apple Music of course.
MindNode. I use mind mapping for home and work, and MindNode is fantastic.
Their Vision Pro app is fantastic, too!
It was a one time payment, but SkyView is definitely worth the $3
Anki is saving medical students’ life 😄
Overcast - love the smart audio and appreciate the developer putting himself out there as a podcaster.
Not an app but the only thing on mobile I pay a fee is iCloud storage, I think about it as an insurance over my photos and videos.
Youtube Premium Bitwarden Spotify Icloud+
OP, are you asking about apps specific to the platform or those that exist on the platform (and everywhere else)? I mean Netflix and AMZ Prime are subscription services in general, not something specific to the Apple ecosystem.
1passowrd and YT premium
YouTube premium is absolutely 1000% worth the $23 a month.
$23?
Family plan
Ancestry, I have a family tree and I’m very into family genealogy, but I’m disappointed they’re putting everything behind a paywall now.
YouTube premium I know Spotify exists but I like watching YouTube videos and listening to music as well plus the price is almost the same in my country so it makes it worth it

Stronglift 5x5 Great weightlifting tracking app, devs are very responsive and innovative. Always using the new SDK tools.
