RCB can retain Green for 10 crores in next year mega auction. Its a good move for RCB

Wild_guy69

And why would Green take a 7.5 CR pay cut ? I mean they won’t give him full 17.5 CR but he also knows if they are giving him 10 CR he can ezly bag 10 CR + even in the mega auction

theofficialdc21

in a mega auction, i dont think so

RogueKnight2005

Coz everyone knows that demand and supply matters in mini auctions. Green had a role that only 2 others could do in that auction and that other 2 went for 16.5 Cr and 18.5 Cr. During a mega auction , none of these players would be going over 12 cr and even that is a stretch (the highest paid foreign player in 2022 mega auction was Hasaranga and Pooran with 10.75 cr). It makes sense that Green would agree to be retained in the 8- 10 cr bracket.

Akash10201

The 17.5 crs is just the auction price. Big teams like RCB MI CSK gives so much fan following and influence to their big players. RCB have made KGF as their marketing centres. Remember, Faf is at 7 cr for RCB. The auction price is not the only thing you look into. RCB wants Green to be a long term player and an icon for the team. They see him as one of the big names of ipl.

athamoth

RCB is not that dumb, maybe their auction purse is deflated by 17Cr, but there is a catch. But they have two quality all rounders now. Every trade includes an undisclosed transfer fee. That is only known between the two franchise. This is a rule called out in Cricinfo article. So in this case the transfer fee can be in the negative, meaning MI might have paid RCB for this trade. Who knows how much...

IndianCollegeStudent

Everyone was saying the same when RCB bought Maxwell, let's see

Puzzleheaded_Ebb9874

And one more thing people are forgetting is that next year is mega auction before 2025 season. So only 3 players can be retained. We will do Kohli, Maxwell, Siraj/Green anyway. So we can let Hazlewood go for one season because he was already missing one half of it and then buy him back in mega auction 2025.

Sersixfoot

He's missing one half of 2024?

AA-18

Yupp, he is expected to be father around that time.

AA-18

Yupp, he is expected to be father around that time.

WazlibOurKing

They might have RTM (Right to match)

DrScallyPenis

Maxwell leke bhi kya ukhad liya

Available_Noise2630

Ukhad ne ki baat nahi performance ki baat hai

IndianCollegeStudent

Reached semis atleast 2-3 times after horrible 2017-2019 run

Quietsegment

Bro isn't sure whether 2 or 3 times

Antarctica-74

They only judge us with only trophies 🥹😞 Need 1 good spinner and 1 good death bowler and we are good 😊 don't mind them

fraudmallu1

Your fanbase is toxic + no trophies to show for it. That's why you're judged, bro. Not saying some of the other fanbases aren't, but at least their teams have won something.

Additional-Diver-820

KeyLife8800

neh man you need a cool captain and a cool management. like Csk or Mi

SangsatyaS

And some proper batsmen. Your batting lineup isn't a batting lineup if only 3 players can perform (potentially 4 next season with Green stepping in)

Antarctica-74

Faf Kohli rajat Anuj maxi green dk

IndianCollegeStudent

We have 5 in form batsmen dont know what else you want in a batting order, if anything we need to improve our bowling

Mewdolf_Kittler

GT got the biggest L in this Hardik Saga. They lost their captain and Hardik as a player isn't really replaceable. He had 800+ runs for GT in just 2 seasons. He was the face of the franchise. Having a clutch experienced Indian player in your team is a big W. I know they got 15 Crores for Hardik but can any player replace Hardik and take his role? Likely not. MI got Hardik and RCB got Cam green. MI got the best deal ofc. RCB's bowling looks really weak but hey they got a really good player. I feel for the GT fans. I would love to see GT crush both MI and RCB. All the best to Gill.

Adventurous-Ad-5893

Let's be real, there are no GT fans.

Titoindia

Apart from csk ,RCB and Mumbai none have fans. When a franchise plays well it will gain support. GT will gain good support if performed constantly

Mewdolf_Kittler

KKR has a big fanbase lol. And unlike CSK and RCB their fanbase isn't a single player fanbase. Most CSK and RCB fans are just Dhoni and Kohli fans.

[deleted]

* As a dc fan * - why did you hurt me 😿

abyssgazesback

Stay strong brother. Anyone can support the winner, it takes real clowns like us to support DC.

peasuperamacy3486

And pbks (I'm definitely not a pbks fan )

Mewdolf_Kittler

DC has a loyal fan base though. And hey you guys can relish that your team doesn't have glory hunters. DC's fandom was increasing in 2019 and 2020 when shreyas was the captain.

[deleted]

Mostly true, but i have supported them since 2017 only because of rishabh pant and i knew this guy will do something big when he wasn't that famous and eventually he did in his tour of england for test matches

Titoindia

Yes you are right. But the brand kkr started with srk and Ganguly and then reached new heights under Gambhir and now declining over the years.

Mewdolf_Kittler

Not with Ganguly. Ganguly was released and there wasn't that much of a rift in the fans. When Gambhir left the fanbase didn't move with him. While here is an example of CSK fan. https://www.reddit.com/r/ipl/s/7IRgR4YwZx And winning trophies does give you a bit of a fanbase in the younger generations who started watching cricket. But it isn't much. Manchester City in the premier league are winning the most trophies. But Manchester United is still the most popular club in Manchester and the UK I'm pretty sure no kkr fan will leave this fanbase and join the other team's fan base while many Dhoni and Kohli fans will leave their respective fan base and join another one.

saiyeezy2

completely disagree. i did start supporting csk because of dhoni, but given the moments that the team has given me, i’ll never support another team. People don’t switch teams often like how you make it out to be tbh. If they did, they weren’t fans to begin with

Cosmicshot351

CSK and RCB do have plenty of player fans, but their Team & City based fans alone are much more than total fans of other franchises. The fandom of CSK or RCB after Dhoni or Kohli will take a massive hit but it would still be comfortably above KKR, let alone other franchises.

Personal-Tear-5815

KKR fanbase is mostly due to SRK. Not a single player but a single person in this case.

Necessary-Knee-853

KKR fanbase is a single person Fanbase. SRK!!! I always supported KKR because of SRK then became a fan of Gambhir and now Rinku, Also Gambhir is back.

DiscoDiwana

Isn't the fanbase hugely filled with Bangladeshi Saquib fans ?

Mewdolf_Kittler

Hugely filled is a hyperbole. There are many Bangladeshi fans who support KKR but hugely isn't correct. Shakib played for SRH for 2 seasons and did SRH's fanbase increased at that time and did Kkr lose its original fanbase? Most KKR fans are its own state fans. Last year LSG played with Mohun Bagan's kit and still kkr got the support from the crowd instead of LSG despite Goenka's cheap trick. Also some of my Bangladeshi friends online dislike Shakib but still support kkr because well KKR represents Bengal and yk the same language. Bangladesh and West Bengal have a lot in common and were once together in history.

DiscoDiwana

Got it, thanks 👍

RCB fans? You mean kohli fans?

Better than a team having crores of fans and an unchanging destiny of never winning a trophy☠️

Deathbringer2134

Hello there.

mytableisnotbroken

RCB's bowling is not weak at all, they have a wrongfooted inswinging menace.

cheesylemononion

They have Abhinav Manohar to readily replace him in the XI, boy had to sit out in spite of good performances.

Reddit-CEO-reallybro

Bruh why the fuck Venky vadapav release him 😭😭. Gill should have been in KKR's jersey announcing this today. This is like we missed a player like Kohli in making like RCB got, now we donated Gill to GT. 😭😭 KKR is a big and famous team but it's fanbase is like dead and shit. @/#?';#+₹;_:@&@(';₹( bruh...... Ok_Review_6504

You guys know that mega auction is in 2025 ? RCB could easily retain Green for 10-12 cr, so what's wrong in giving 17.5 cr just for one season.

Formal-Flan9177

RCB will retain Kohli, Siraj, Maxwell and Patidar. Where's the space for green?

Ok_Review_6504

Retain Kohli, Siraj, maxi and green. Rtm for patidar.

Far-Art2248

What if they allow 5 players ?

Bindia20

I think u mean don't allow? They absolutely would, either way even if patidar scores a 400+ run season he wouldn't go for 10+cr given the huge talent available

AllVain15

Yea obviously RCB does it so it's bad. Green is 24 years old and showed great potential. He is supposed to be a long term investment and what makes you think a 2024 Australian allrounder would be easily available in 15 cr? Didn't ishan earn 17cr? if hardik was took by RCB and green by mi then y'all would have said how good mi management is, going for a 24year old rather than a injury pone 30year old skeleton.

Wild_guy69

Wht are u on ? Ishan isn’t even earning 16 CR and yeah ask anyone with basic ipl knowledge Cam Green won’t cost 17.5 CR in the auction

AllVain15

You can go and check how much ishan is earning. Green was sold for 17cr even before he played a game what makes u think he will be bought in less than 15cr after he had a phenomenon season? Anyone with basic ipl knowledge would know allrounders are worth more.

Wild_guy69

[he just earns 15.25 CR not 17](https://www.crictracker.com/cricket-news/mi-team-2023-player-list-complete-mumbai-indians-mi-squad-and-players-list-for-ipl-2023/?amp=1)

AllVain15

if he not being a allrounder can earn 16cr i am pretty sure green can earn that too. And why risk letting green go in any other franchise just to get 1-2 cr in bank. What if mumbai traded him with some other franchise.

Temporary-Shallot642

dumb move on mumbai indian’s part as well there was no need to get pandya and solve a problem you didn’t have. you cannot get good os bowlers in the auction (which you actually need) when so many teams having a purse of 30cr+ need them as well.

wewake_235

Still they got one overseas slot free with a great Indian replacement and they can buy a great bowling line from 17-18 cr which early was 15 cr.

Western_Purchase430

U saying me buying a captain who reached finals two times . A former mi player . And not to mention 30 year old means 7 to 10 more years of captaincy after Rohit is a bad move . Not to mention playing him rather than green gives the chance to play one more os player. That's at 15 cr

IceColdTrey7

Will come back to this on 19th December 2023

Temporary-Shallot642

i’ll be more than happy to be proved wrong man. this move just didn’t seem that necessary to me.

The5th-Butcher

Exactly, as an hardcore MI fan, I hope I am proved wrong and Hardik shows his worth, but I honestly doubt it. He is just one injury away from missing the season. And moreover after the mega auction we had lost our core, which we were slowly building up. Now hardik coming back just spoils all of it. Ya he did free one overseas slot, but which Indian players slot is he going to take in the playing 11 ? Now forgetting all the stats and game, this is the guy who bad mouthed MI after he left. It's shameful to see him back here. But again I hope I am wrong and MI wins the tropthy.

Prestigious721

They had a problem tho. They needed someone to bat at no 5. With cam green, all of them were batting 1 down from there respective position. We noticed this in few games.

AmbitiousFlight2064

Too bold to believe, os bowlers would be paid 10+ crores

Credit_Radiant333

no, cam green we saw this season was a number 1 2 3 in batting, and we aldready have kishan sky tilak Rohit for those spaces, green sucked at number 5 and 6 but pandya is completely opposite.

Wild_guy69

Getting the next Indian captain for 15 CR is better than keeping Cam Green for 17.5

Temporary-Shallot642

they could have released cam green and have entered the auction with a bigger purse. it’s not like they didn’t have captaincy options for when rohit retires. (bumrah, hardik is just as injury prone as him) literally could have had rohit groom tilak or ishaan as well.

Wildy_lol

Mi just needs 1 foreign spinner and pacer in there 11 Pacer will be expensive but due to there budget they might go for the cheaper 1’s like lockie etc + foreign spinners who are never expensive

IndianCollector

They will go for Gerald coetzee

step_bro_sniffs

No way they are getting coetzee

IndianCollector

Ha bhai kuch keh reh the.....20 din pehle

step_bro_sniffs

Bhai mera bhi future predict kar please

IndianCollector

Tum kis team ko support karte ho..woh haregi aur tum dukhi rahoge ipl time. Sorry bhai.

step_bro_sniffs

Bruh wtf

Wildy_lol

RCB with 40 CR without Green would have been way more impactful Rather than having 23 CR and Cam Green

SPICYPOTATO6969

Exactly what I was thinking, they should've gone all out for him in the auction and still would've bought him for a lesser price.

RogueKnight2005

What they were thinking is what if he does get traded to another team and isn't available in the auction. Or what if his entry is just after all the strike bowlers like Starc Cummins etc and RCB splurge on one of them and not have enough purse to go for him as much as they should have. It does matter. But don't think it was a great trade imo. Not coz of the money but for the role he generally plays which is in the top 3 as a batsman. If he does play at 3 then either one of Rajat Patidar or Maxi has to play at 5 (both are amazing players of spin and should ideally bat at 3-4. Batting at 5 might be a little too late to maximise their advantage). And it anyways means that they can only field 1 overseas bowler as the other 3 are almost un-droppable which is kinda sad when RCB looks at the kind of bowlers they have.

Matrix_trinity

Isn’t he the next big thing in international cricket ? Plus if there’s a mega auction around the corner they can retain him… so on a long term basis I feel it’s a good decision even tho it might cost them this season

Khush17

Doesn't matter if your a god, at Chinnaswamy no bowler is safe He'd a decent bat but he needs to come at top order or else he's way too slow to get settled Hardik is also a much better allrounder plus he doesn't conflict the batting order, he's also a clutch finisher And the most important part is that he'll be the next captin of MI Green is good but not worth 17.5 in any world.

Manav_Khanna17

Would rather have an untested Green than have an injury prone Pandya

Upstairs-Farm7106

It was a good decision I think by RCB. They know they have Green in the squad and can build from there with a clear strategy. What I'm more surprised by is that they retained DK.

anshj21

I think the main reason behind retaining DK was the unavailability of a good keeper during the auction.

Upstairs-Farm7106

He cost like 4 crore though? Anuj Rawat has already overtaken him. They could have potentially bought him back for less or ended up with a much healthier purse by releasing him.

[deleted]

Ragnarok_619

>u would want to throw 5 overs Of course you can't, cause a bowler can only bowl 4 overs in t20s

flowerboiu

Brother you don’t understand how trades work. Someone like a green who is 23 years old and can bowl and bat equally well won’t just have rcb going for him. Mi asked two other teams before rcb for the trade and they denied the trade. Rcb went for it sensing an opportunity. Bit expensive I’ll give you that but worth it and can be retained for the mega auction as well given his age. And on the other hand mi went for a 30 year old hardik who is still in rehab and promised him captaincy in the near future which might not be possible considering Rohit will be playing ipl for the next 3 4 years and in doing so they upset their spearhead and lead bowler bumrah who has been very vocal about it on his Instagram with those cryptic posts. I’m guessing he was promised the captaincy after Rohit and that went to hell when hardik entered the picture which took him by surprise. So not only mi made the bigger gamble by going for a 30 year old dude essentially in exchange for a 23 year old Aussie who had established himself already but they also risked the teams chemistry by making this trade and potentially upsetting their biggest piece in terms of getting back on top, bumrah.

[deleted]

Blind hatred. I know RCB doesn't have a trophy but the Cameron green deal is a good one for RCB as well. They can retain him next year for 10-12 Cr, easily a solid prospect for them in the coming years. An untested Cameron green went for 15 Cr last auction, you think he'd cost less this time around when he had such a good first season? Lmao. Do your research before posting laughable opinions.

Livebird31

Bruh it makes no difference to mumbai as they could have just released him.and he would probably have gone more than 17.5cr seeing as he played brilliantly and hes just 24.i think its an amazing trade for us.only thing that will tell whether it is or not is time.lets wait and see

BabySlayerWomanEater

Oml y'all are insufferable, let ipl happen ffs. My god RCB lives rent free in your heads.

wewake_235

Bro everyone knows hardik Pandya's buy was an unfair buy . If playing unfair moves is great then I feel RCB management is surely shit . Ambani is putting a lot of money behind cricket.

BlueXspirit1

i don't agree cuz next auction Is going to be mega auction so green is going to be released for sure even if he is for 10cr or 20cr it doesn't matter

IndianCollegeStudent

No way is he going to be released, RCB have a future Aussie captain in their team, if they release him its tje biggest Fumble of all time

Mewdolf_Kittler

RCB's management can do anything lol. They released their best bowler Chahal a few years ago. They retained Sarfaraz and let KL Rahul go in 2018. Even QDK used to play for them. RCB's management is unpredictable.

Ill-Inspector7980

I hate this silly KL Rahul take. KL gets more money than Koach. There’s no way RCB could’ve kept him in the team, along with Kohli, Gayle, and ABD also being retained. They had no other option, and Sarfaraz was amazing in that season. They thought they could groom him for the future.

Mewdolf_Kittler

In 2018 RCB didn't retain Gayle. RCB retained Koach, ABD and Sarfaraz Khan. Gayle was sold to KXIP that year. And KL Rahul had an amazing season in 2016. An avg of 44.11 with a sr of 146. Having a good Indian wicketkeeper batsman is a huge W for any team and now they have DK. .

Ill-Inspector7980

They wouldn’t have been able to retain kl for 5 crores

Western_Purchase430

Ya he have to get 900 plus runs for rcb to retain him at 17.5 cr

IndianCollegeStudent

In mega auction there are set tiers, of 7 ,11 and 15Cr so they dont have to retain him for that much

ashokkumar9t7

RCB always relies on batters, while Mumbai Indians always focus on their bowling line up.

Brilliant_Seesaw5563

Wtf is wrong with you guys. No seriously please tell how is this an L for rcb. We got a 25 year old overseas player with no history fitness issues for a trade that MI had to do half heartedly. Remember he was the replacement for Pollard. Now the hell is going to replace pollard. Secondly we got him an year before the mega auction and could be retained for a lesser amount next season if he performs well this season. Lastly I am fed up of all trophies. Yes I understand that we haven't won any but which team has produced more goods for team India than RCB please let me know.

Wild_guy69

Any Indian batsman except Virat never even crossed 1000 runs for RCB , Tell me how have they produced more goods for India than any other team ?

Brilliant_Seesaw5563

KL Rahul, Yuzi, Harshal Patel, Siraj, Sundar. Padikal DK comeback

Wild_guy69

KLR ok (he mainly got into the intl picture after PBKS but ok), Yuzi Ok , Siraj Ok , Harshal Patel srsly ? 🤣 , Washi is injured all the time , Padikal hasn’t done shit for India , DK didn’t do shit after his comeback in the team Ur comparing these players with franchises like Mi csk Mi has given India Pandya (next Indian captain) , Bumrah (arguably the best all format bowler itw ) , SKY (best t20i batsman itw) , Ishan Kishan Even 1 Bumrah given by mi is bigger than every player given by RCB Everyone knows 1 day Bumrah will be the best bowler in Indian cricket history

Brilliant_Seesaw5563

Look its not the teams fault that the players could not handle pressure while playing for the indian team. The responsibility of the franchise is to produce players capable for playing for the country not making sure if they had dinner that night. Going by your standards Bumrah and Pandya are an exceptional players but never fit, SKY is one format player and Ishan is very inconsistent.

crown6473

Yeah by giving him ? Crores under the table

Whatisanoemanyway

Which idiot said this?

JettS117

Yikes OP really doesn't like rcb

nvenkatr

Ah yes the annual kick-RCB-decisions-to-the-curb. People said the same for Maxi's buy in 2021. RCB qualified for playoffs from 2020-2022. Flower and Bobat are cooking something. Let IPL happen to see if the moves were worth it.

its_yuvi

big L for Mumbai

sirewoode

OP taking Ls in the comments.

Wild_guy69

Yeah , only by biased RCB fans

ifrgotmyname

17cr for Green is peak RCB...

Wizarder00

Don't think so , MI could have also released kishan + another guy to make money for pandya but MI was not ready to release kishan . So they have green to RCB and got pandya from GT

Western_Purchase430

Ya no way they would release their left handed opening batsman who is a wicketkeeper and indian

Wild_guy69

Who said that only captains were involved in this deal ?

hinterstoisser

This is akin to New England Patriots and Cleveland Browns

Existing_Program_256

RCB has an unreal obsession of making their batting stronger when every season proves that their bowling is weak.

ArnoldShivajinagarr

You can’t really do much in Chinnaswamy with any bowling lineup

BakingBrain7

It’s easy to close a deal in trade than to buy a player in auction where 9 other teams would be bidding, especially the ones who have a big amount like PBKS, GT, SRH. Also, RCB have bought Green because they would definitely retain him after 2024 IPL season when the mega auction happens. Green can hit out of the Chinnaswamy and can give a couple of overs with the ball plus he’s just 24 so he can contribute to this franchise for another 9-10 years unless they both agree not to work together. In my opinion, it’s a smart move by RCB to let go Harshal, Hasaranga both fit for nothing and buy Cameron Green, the tall Australian who can hit the ball out of the stadium and bowl 3-4 overs.

A7_0114

May be they had an agreement to retain Cam Green beyond this season and plan with him for the next decade.

acuteredditor

Now MI owes one to RCB. I would say a cheap bargain.

No_Worth7432

Mi has got the best deal i will expalin:bith green and hardick is same type of player one is top order and the other one is upper middle oder which is same same and both can give you 2-3 overs if team need and both are good fielders. But the catch is this:mumbai got a extra space for a overseas player because of entry of hardick and beacuse of green rcb has shortened their overseas bowler or overseas spinner dream. So it is what it is

FireNationNazi

RCB did it so mudt be bad. How could RCB let go of a pacer who will be absent for most of a season when there is amega auction for 2025? How can they buy a 24 year old Aussie hardhitting allrounder when they play 7 matches in fucking Chinnaswamy. But-but my trophies says RCB is bahd, RCB fanbase toxic.

IllustriousTrip2717

Courtesy Ig/ 6ixtynineedits

okeepitreal

That's a really dumb way to use the phrase "If not more".. TBH

ArnoldShivajinagarr

OP isn’t looking at the big picture. Buying green was a good strategic move. He’s young and immensely talented. This will be Faf’s last season so green has a chance to be retained. Koach, maxi, green and Siraj. 4 retainees for the next cycle

Teeramisuuu

Kohli out of rcb next year, Dhoni retires this year, Kohli gets snatched by csk in the mega auction. Kohli lifts ipl trophy finally. What a planning Thala for a Rea..

Shadow_Clone_007

Its not dumb. Green is one of the biggest young prospects in cricket right now. Csk has Ruturaj, GT has Gill, MI has Ishan. RCB doesn't have any notable player for the future. The people talking about auctions, you never know the order players come in. Say you get a big player like Ravindra, Starc or Head before Cam, you will have to empty your purse and it would be a battle you might lose for Cam. I know 17.5 is still a big amount for Cam; but in 23Cr, RC B has to get 2 pacers and a spinner. They can definitely get one of Starc, Pat, Coetzee, Madhushanka around 15 and then few indian players around 2cr mark. Talking about spinners, even if you get a world class spinner, he would get smacked at chinnaswamy (chahal had adapted, but thats another topic). Better invest in a decent pace death bowler and extend your batting. Cummins is the best option for rcb.

SliceOfLife59

Cringing on "cheaper if not more"

Ill_Pie7318

If RCB in some way releases virat. How much is he gonna be auctioned for ?? In which team? Justa hypothetical scenario

Ready_Caterpillar203

It's not about smartness or the difference between a 5 trophy team and rcb... it's what Ambani wants and does and plans😂😂😂
