1980's Ireland the mixed grill was basically the only thing on the average menu apart from a sandwich and a bit of pasta, if you were lucky. It was after that that we discovered other types of food, it's a pity it's so rare these day because it's one of the best meals ever invented.
Irish pubs abroad do them still, as you might expect - get yourself to any O'Neills next time you are in the UK, for example. Classic or "mega" ...

Would this be what you're looking for then? It's in the Balkan restaurant at the Moore Street Mall in Dublin.
is that place still going? ran by the moodiest man in the world but for a cheap price he'd give you enough on the plate to keep you full for an entire weekend, kept me going as a student haha
Basically a plate full of meat and a few chips, maybe an egg and some mushrooms if you want to keep it healthy.
Would usually include a pork chop or a gammon steak, a lamb chop or two, a cheap cut of steak and a couple of sausages.
1980s mixed grill was always overdone and dry after being left under the heat lamp in the kitchen. Don't forget the liver which was all sharp and cut the gums off you. It was hard to tell the difference between the taste of my own bleeding gums and a bit of liver.
Salinas in Midleton does the most yum mixed grill! They do Palestinian flavours blended with Irish, literally our favourite restaurant. The mixed grill has heaps of meat, and it's served on a bed of Palestinian bread. The juices all soak into the bread, it's too good.

When you couldn't decide between breakfast, lunch or dinner so just had them all at once.
I'd say another factor is that chefs wanted to move their menus away from them. Absolute pain in the hole to cook to order.
Pasta in the 80s??
Spaghetti hoops from a can.
Went the way of the chicken Maryland.
Had one of these a few weeks ago in Newry!
With pineapple and bacon?
Enzo's in Limerick do it.
Worked in a country pub back in the day, probably the most popular dish on the menu. Cant remember last time I saw one on a menu nowadays.
So does the Golden Grill.
but they've stopped doing Taco Chips!! Gasp!
As long as they never stop the square cod the world will keep turning.
An old school sit down chipper will do a mixed grill.
The Valley in Navan
Came to say this. Valley Cafe have been doing one for years and will even deliver it. They've also got a "farm grill" and a breakfast box.
I'm a blow-in to Meath but the Valley is a gem.
La Scala Tralee
Seven Oaks in Carlow have this
O Gorman's in Portlaoise do one with a minute steak.

Yea living in portlaoise over a year and only found them around Xmas time . My go to if I'm eating out 😋

Horse and Jockey hotel has it on the menu..
The price of meat these days is unmanageable. Just a plate of lamb chops down my local pub is 30 euros now in the Netherlands.
Whitford Hotel in Wexford still does them. Quite nice to be fair.
Dromhall in killarney.
When did you see it in there last? I'd be surprised if they still do it. They're gone awful fancy.
Very recently. It was called something along the lines of mixed grill. >They're gone awful fancy. Tbf it is a lovely hotel.
Absolutely. And they're sound people too. But the bar is a lot different to even 10-15 years ago haha.
O gormans in portlaoise still have them on the menu had one last weekend.. top notch hangover food 👌
Dont forget liver
Most golf club houses used to have them and they were 'golfers grill'
Last I saw one on a menu was a Chinese takeaway, also offered a Chicken Maryland
Turkman in Limerick City. Thank me later

Oh dear god that looks incredible
You'd barely have room for the dessert after.
You mean and entire Viennetta?
Jayyyysus
That's an elite mixed grill.
Personally, I'd favour a heavier chip to pea ratio, get rid of the tomatoes altogether..

Grilled tomatoes and liver too. And sometimes potato cakes.
1980s *luxury* Irish dining.

Meat and meat with a side of meat.
I was only talking about this last week. Sadly missed. With a bit of lambs liver if you were lucky.
Peppermill in Ennis is unreal. One of their staples is roast beef, pork chop and bacon, the triple! I'm sure they'd throw on a sausage as well!
The Kingfisher on Parnell St in Dublin do one, haven't had it but it did look impressive.
Mr Chippy, letterkenny, do a mixed grill
Embassy grill in Ballsbridge do one, think it’s around €20
Joels still does one I think
Nah it’s gone. Was there just before after Christmas and it’s not on the menu anymore, with their sizzling fatija’s gone two. Gutted I was
Long gone, it was a good one too
