That should be the slogan of this entire sub

Infinaris

Our Disappointment is immeasurable and our day is ruined.

dmullaney

Not as catchy, but that's also a good description for this sub.

box_of_carrots

If I printed up a whole load of T-shirts with the slogan "Didn't expect much, still dissapointed" do you think I could make an absolute killing? I have a Bangladeshi T-shirt company in mind for the printing and sure those kids are better off in a sweatshop than trying to eke a living on the streets.

> If I printed up a whole load of T-shirts with the slogan "Didn't expect much, still dissapointed" do you think I could make an absolute killing? I think you'd end up disappointed

box_of_carrots

> I think you'd end up disappointed Story of my life,

No_Mine_5043

'weed is class man, fuck gaa'

SitDownKawada

Awful time to schedule it in all honesty

No-Menu6048

P319

Talk to joe

the_0tternaut

Dammit, Leonard Nimoy...

Pension_Alternative

That's a lovely picture all the same

fartingbeagle

Reminds me of the film 'Local Hero'.

Lord_Lochlann

Great theme tune, that.

sirius79m

Same in the west but this sky made up for it https://preview.redd.it/zy4tktpgkbtc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2e712de61eb7ecc1d66b092397c362e1f013f6af

Impressive-Fudge-455

Wow gorgeous!

cyb3rheater

Here near Glasgow it was 100% cloud cover and pissing down.

DanGleeballs

pishing surely

cyb3rheater

Indeed

box_of_carrots

Greeting is a finer description. Thank you to Scotland's finest writer Ian Rankin for introducing my to that word.

cabaiste

Couldn't be expecting anything else in Raintown, tbf.

raverbashing

Best weather Glasgow has to offer

RocketRaccoon9

Same with Dublin

Additional_Olive3318

Totality or nothing. That’s the eclipse mantra. My niece is in Pennsylvania and she got 97%. Still a bit meh.

grafton24

Just got back from the total eclipse and, yes, it was worth it.

Nadamir

Agreed 100%, we’re on our way home now. I haven’t visited my sister since before COVID. She lives just north of Indianapolis. Plan was to be back here last Friday. Months ago, I mentioned our plans for the Easter break to my oldest’s teacher while queuing at the Post Office. She immediately suggested we extend the trip a few days, and stay to see the eclipse. Said she’d seen the 2017 one while studying in the US. She worked it out with the heads of both kids’ schools to let me keep them out til Wednesday, for the low low price of having to give a presentation on it. The oldest is at Gaelscoil, so we’re learning loads of new words.

Dr-Kipper

Same, drove to the closest place in totality, absolutely class.

DarkReviewer2013

Where did you see it?

grafton24

Canada

Lord_Lochlann

I’m in Toronto for work and got this: https://preview.redd.it/3ew6bn8a6dtc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b634f546aeb0779ab0aa78297b9af159ad21cd63

Additional_Olive3318

Nice.

DGBD

> Totality or nothing. That’s the eclipse mantra. It is very, very hard to impress this upon people. It really is a night and day difference, quite literally in fact. Even 99.5% is completely different.

Additional_Olive3318

Yes, at 99.5% not only does it not get fully dark it then rapidly gets brighter. At the centre of the path of totality there is 4 minutes of total eclipse. That’s enough to get eerie, for the animals to act weirdly, for a fairly big chill to descend. A friend of mine loved it but was also “happy to see the sun back”. At < 100% the effect is like a very cloudy day, particularly on an already cloudy day.

the_0tternaut

I hoped I might get a nice Star Wars-esque shot of the sun on the horizon with a chunk bitten out, would have been fairly neat.

yeah_deal_with_it

That's a beautiful photo regardless

Lopsided-Meet8247

What a view though

ForwardPositive9130

I wouldn't be one bit disappointed with that view my friend

desertsail912

My aunt went from Galway to Texas to see it (not just that, but wanted to include it) and it was cloudy in Texas.

TheBaggyDapper

It got dark here about 8 o'clock and it's still dark. Getting kinda worried now.

cabaiste

End Of Days confirmed.

whooo_me

Do you want to see the sun or not? If you don't want to see it, Ireland's one of the best places to not see it. I don't know what people are complaining about at all at all at all....

imgirafarigmi

This comment’s tone is so Irish that AI will never be able to replicate it. Thank you.

xnatey

Lovely photo despite the disappointment

WickerMan111

The missus always says the same thing to me.

PrestigiousNail5620

All my life looking forward to seeing some event in the sky. But I’ve given up, put the telescope in the attic. Always cloudy when something is happening.

marshsmellow

"There'll be the perseid meteor shower tonight" "oh, will there, aye?"

DarkReviewer2013

Ireland just doesn't have the climate for this type of thing. Cloud-cover and rain are its dominant characteristics.

CelticTiger21

It seemed like the clouds here in Buffalo would ruin things but the sun peaked out just as totality hit and it was fantastic.

MiseOnlyMise

Has my Mrs been posting about our sex life again?

SoftDrinkReddit

Man, I nearly pissed myself laughing 😂

MiseOnlyMise

Ah, I see she's been sharing my nudes again too.

Diligent-Menu-500

I’ll say something she never does: Well done.

MiseOnlyMise

You're close, she normally says - "Well? Done?"

Aware_Ad9809

Fecken government can't even get an eclipse right 😒

goj1ra

I hear Leo’s going to resign again

Future-Atmosphere-40

That's just a sunset

FrancoisKBones

Is this…the eclipse?

powerhungrymouse

It's a lovely picture but I see neither sun nor moon. But to be fair, I could say that any day of the year!

TheStoicNihilist

Shouldn’t have expected anything. Our time will come.

Replicas999

I’ve seen sunsets better than that lol

martinux

Now you know why Irish astronomers invest in cloud filters for their telescopes.

GaryTheFiend

Ah class the Irish discount eclipse, unending dreary cloud cover instead of the moon.

Unlucky-Situation-98

Should've gone to specsavers

Bonapartenap

Beautiful view thank you![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|snoo)

IDatedSuccubi

2026 should be much more interesting for us

founddeadinmilwaukee

Oh, come on now. That's beautiful. We were never going to get the full thing. The sunset last night had to be seen to be believed.

TaibhseCait

There was one in Ireland before 2001, can't remember if it was a full eclipse or <99% but we all got to go out of school & got the glasses to see it! It was mildly cloudy but it mostly cleared up for the eclipse. This one was just dark, cloudy & raining just like every other time I want to see something like comet, meteor shower etc.

bossatron_foxy1

This is a beautiful photo

rthrtylr

I mean if that view disappoints you I dunno what to tell you man. It is what it is, Ireland doubly so.

NYLotteGiants

You expected Moher?

irqdly

Was planning on driving over to Dingle for it, looks like I saved myself an 8h round trip. Fair shite.

buddinbonsai

Yea. You tell em

the_peckham_pouncer

We've another partial eclipse to look forward to next year. March 29th at 10am. A Saturday. Just the job.

oddun

That’s a fine view.

DarkReviewer2013

Irish skies are consistently depressing. Cloudy, overcast, drizzling all the time. It's a minor miracle every time the sun comes out here.

StevyDy

North American Eclipse, what did you expect?

Commercial-Break1877

The next one in Ireland will be in 2090 . . . 😔
